NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition - PS4

I had seen this title when it came out and I was interested but I never pursued it. I was lending a hand at a local Comic-Con in Buffalo long before Covid hit and I recognized the cosplay (see attached photo). I asked them about the game and they had all played it and made sure to recommend the Game of the YoRHa Edition. With the twilight of the PS4 coming I'm always a bit cautious about purchasing old titles because you never know if they will release it on PS+. I haven't been disappointed but it is a real sci-fi title (read about gameplay and plot elsewhere). The Game of the YoRHa Edition is DLC so if I had purchased this used the download code would already have been used. That's why I purchased new. At the time of this writing Best-Buy was $10 less than the digital version available on the PS4 store.

I didn't care about the free code to get freebies on the game. I didn't care I was going to cry after another playthrough that was slowly descending me down a rabbit hole I could never go back to. I knew the moment I picked up this game first time on Steam and realized that it would be a sequel of another game I suffered back then and still I jumped back onto that feel train.... I did not regret it! Not even for buying it again for my family's PS4 collection. They knew that this game was going to stay in our game collection for the coming years. This series is one of the most philosophical ideas of what humanity could be and yet as a veteran, I knew it would give me choices that I wish I could take back. Even so, I tread on playing the game wishing, hoping if there was any path that would give me a different ending... And there was, Yoko Taro made sure we had PLENTY of endings to mess within this game. After playing this back during its release in 2015 I bought the soundtrack of the series. I never looked back because the game melded enough story, character quirks, and music to make me jump down this morbid rabbit hole one more time...

First off, I bought this game originally at release but wanted the YoRHa Edition too. This game is a 10/10, one of the best games of the last generation. There is so much to praise for this series that I wouldn't even know where to start. If you haven't played this by 2021, what are you doing! This game has one of the best narratives I've seen in the past decade, with 26 different endings (some are jokes, okay.) Yoko Taro paired with a developer that was able to show his vision shows us a masterclass in game design. -Story is amazing, even tear jerking at times. It is highly repayable. I could go back right now and would still enjoy it like I did on my first playthrough. -Music is THE best on the PS4 library, it's nearly perfect. (Look up 'A Beautiful Song' 'Weight of the World' or even 'Amusement Park' heck look up the OST!) -Characters are amazing, enough to even get attached to them a bit, there are recurring characters from the past (game is related to Drakengard) -Great open world game (for console) for a mid generation game with equally amazing graphics. I could go on, just buy this. It's not even $60 anymore, not to mention Nier: Replicant is coming out next month for the first time in the states as a remake. Sadly Platinum didn't develop it, but they were at least involved in overseeing it.

Awesome hack & slash with lite rpg elements

Nier: Automata combines great 3rd person hack and slash with bullet-hell twin-stick shooting segments to create a fun unique game. If you like the original God of War trilogy playstyle, I think you'll definitely be into this game. It's got a good length, took me 40+ hours to finish the story and side missions. The story is quite deep and captivating. Despite being a sequel to a spinoff, you don't need to have played previous games to make sense of it since it's its own standalone story. Even though the credits roll after reaching a certain point, you'll need to play through 3 times with different characters to get the full story. It's totally worth it though, and it's not just replaying segments but new story missions only certain characters can do. Oh, and the soundtrack is just amazing so you'll be listening to catchy music all the while. Game of the Yorha Edition comes with all DLC, but the DLC is rather mediocre and comes in a code, not on the disc. It's just fight arenas, costumes and a lite "out of body" segment. Not bad, but nothing really worthwhile. P.S. You'll need to be connected online at the REAL final credits to be able to actually finish the story (you don't need PS+, just have an internet connection).

I've always heard good things about this game, seen clips, and listened to the soundtrack, which is absolutely amazing! That alone made me intrigued and I finally decided to give it a shot. I noticed this version would be ideal for those who missed out the original release from 2017. It's the same game but provides DLC, PS4 dynamic theme and other goodies like accessories. So far the game is absolutely fantastic! I really love how the perspective changes through the adventure. From 3D to 2D to bird's eye view. It always feels something new and doesn't feel boring. The story is great and soundtrack during battles is so epic! The voice acting is good too. Overall really amazing game! I also love the PS4 dynamic theme that includes with it. I highly recommend it!

    Unique And Interesting Game

This game is very unique, with multiple game genres so you do not get bored. The story is also good, with likable characters and interesting story ideas and side quests. The music is good and fits each part it plays in well. The gameplay plays well with good combat and exploration in an open world, but backgrounds are sometimes lower quality with occasional frame rate drops in areas. The way new game plus is done is unique and interesting so every play through changes the way you look at the story. Worth getting, especially with added dlc.

This is an action RPG that provides an interesting gameplay experience. You don't get the full freedom of a full open world experience, but the gameplay is so good that you may not care about it. The combat engine is awesome and gives you the freedom of experiencing and experimenting with many options to find your best match. The scenery is well made, the music es awesome and the story is well made. But you have to read a lot. I wanted this game for my little brother and it became the bowling ball kind of game. He gave up after a few hours of game.

I really love the story and atmosphere. The music is well composed, and graphics wise the game is beautiful, like walking through a painting. The story keeps you wanting more, and the pacing is also very steady. The menus make sense and there is tons of room for customization based on your play style. Overall this is a polished game and I recommend it to anyone really. Even if you might not be a big fan of hack and slash games, I still think that if you give this game a chance you will find yourself entranced in the world.

    Near Masterpiece of a Game

This game is by far one of the best hack and slash type games I've ever played. While the story isn't perfect, the characters are engaging enough to keep you interested in their struggles. The music absolutely fantastic, and quickly became one of my favorites 9f all time. The real flaw I see with this game is the lack of a proper new game+. Enemies do not scale with your level so you have to restart the game from scratch to have a challenge. This game was so good that I bought two copies.

NieR Automata is easily one of the best games on PS4. The combat is really fun and flashy. The story is one of the most intriguing I've seen in a game. And the soundtrack is simply breathtaking. It's a bit of shame the included DLC is just a download code, but that's not a huge deal because that content is relatively minor anyway.

This game is definately and acquired taste as it takes multiple play throughs to get the true story. The good thing is the game changes up things each time thru and the visuals and music are amazing. The side quests and story is truly mindblowing if your paying attention. This has action rpg elements (devil may cry) and shooter elements (rtype). Definately a classic in my opinion.

Nier Automata is hands down an underrated and overlooked game! This shouldn't be the case though! It's a beautiful game with a variety of style! The soundtrack is amazing and the action and fight squences to piloting your own personal ships is wonderfully integrated and balanced. The cut scenes have a very unique and fluid visual dynamic effect and this game is a must play for any serious gamer.

I love Nier Automata. The music and atmosphere are among the most memorable and best I've seen. The story is very touching and moving. Parts of it get a bit repetitive if you are going for the "true" ending but its so worth it. The gameplay is fun and interesting too.

I went into this on the near universal praise from near every major gaming website reviews. What I expected, and what I got were completely different experiences. An amazing story, beautiful environments, and one of the best soundtracks I've ever listened to. A definite recommendation, if a bit challenging. tl;dr - Come for the android, stay for everything else.

I played the game as it was recommended by one of my friends. I do not regret purchasing the game as the story is really great. The game combines good philosophical questions with well-developed characters. Massive amounts of content (even more if you get the DLC). Really fun to play.

First of all, this game is all about the story. The story is amazing just like watching movie and play games together. Actual game play is kind of dull. I mean it's fun but it can get boring at some parts. There are many side quests too. If you buy this game because of trailers (very attractive main character, 2B), do more research before you decide to buy. If you like Japanese rpg then you will probably like this. You have to play 3 times to see complete end, each time you play with different character. It's like same short story with 3 different point of views. Anyway, I really liked it. You can spend good 30-40 hours or more if you want to clear all the side quests and get all the secrets.
