Customers are saying

Customers praise the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S Standard Prime Lens for Nikon Z Cameras for its low light capabilities and the narrow depth of field it offers. It is considered a great lens for gathering light and achieving a shallow depth of field.

Amazing all purpose primary lens with amazing low light capacity. Open the aperture and the bokeh is perfect. Colors and sharpens are right on. Worth every penny. There are cheaper less capable lenses but you get what you pay for.

The Nikkor Z 50mm f1.2 delivers stunning portraits and product shots with amazing Boka! What I love the most is how much better the eye tracking is with my Nikon Z7ii. Knowing the focus is absolutely on point allows me to focus more on composition and lighting. If you wear glasses like I do, you will love the focus. If you ever thought of shooting astrophotography, this is the lens to put you in the position to get the best shot! I use the 50mm 1.2 with my Z6ii for night and low light photography. There are other Nikkor Z options that are more cost-effective but if you appreciate the increased capability, don't let the cost be a factor.

The only reason to buy this lens instead of the f1.8 is if you're going to shoot wide-open most of the time. The f1.8 is a great lens too, but for me there are enough reasons for me to want that extra stop. This is a hefty chunk of glass, but it's not cumbersome. If I'm traveling and want versatility, I can walk around with my Z7ii and 24-70 f2.8 during the day, and then switch to this lens at night. Both configurations fit in the same carefully chosen holster bag and the filter size is the same on both lenses too. This f1.2 really gulps down light and is just beautiful. Eye detection autofocus is working great for me in very low light. If you want some shallow depth of field for medium focal length portraiture, you can still run it full wide during the day by throwing on an ND or polarizer to cut some light and ramp the ISO all the way down. Still, if you want something lighter or aren't shooting wide-open most of the time, there's nothing wrong with going with the f1.8 instead.

Excellent lens for portrait pictures (already tested) and a potential excellent use for astrophotography, as well, but not tested, yet. Weight may be an issue if the plan is to carry it for long periods

One of the sharpest lenses on the market. It is worth every penny. I wish it was a bit smaller, but will accept the size for the quality we get out of this lens.

Excellent lens.great light gathering and narrow depth of field selection. Not as heavy as people claim. I shoot in auditoriums in low light where I need the speed of the lens.

Love this lens and being able to shoot wide open at f1.2 and blur out the whole background when shooting portraits. And this lens has produced some super sharp images

This lens gives me hope for what is to come with the Z series lenses. I've shot Nikon for 12 years (full-time wedding and portrait photographer for 7) and have invested most of their prime pro lenses. The Z 50mm has been beautiful though. (I also have the 35mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, and 20mm. Those were not the quality I was expecting (as reflected in the price) but was really all you could buy at the time). The 50mm has been my favorite so far. My biggest issue is that the control ring can be moved sooo easily and change the settings without realizing. The 50mm is also much larger than the 50mm's of the FX series. Not a big deal other than added weight.

Best 50mm 1.2 on the market. The z mount is the game changer for all. Not sure the picture quality is worth the price difference of the outstanding 1.8 option. Guess if you need the extra stop's for low light.
