I bought this lens so I could carry just one lens while out running around. So far I am very pleased. It does have a bit of weight to it and used on my D750 It it a tad bulky for my 5’2 frame but not a major issue for me at all. I don’t have to swap lenses while out on a day trip and takes nice sharp picture up close or at a distance.

This is one of my favorite Nikkor lenses. It’s small and versatile and can be used for 90% of what I shoot. It is quiet and the vibration reduction is great for sports and low light.

This is a FX lens for Full-frame cameras but will work with DX cameras as well. I am using this lens with Nikon D7100 camera body.
This one lens will replace a full bag of lens, great if you are traveling or walking around all day long and dont want to carry all your prime lenses.
Will eventually upgrade to FX camera body someday so am using this now instead of the new 18-300 DX lens.

The Nikon 28-300 mm AVR lens eliminates the need to carry several lenses with different focal lenghts. Having one lens with variable focal lenghts also eliminates the possibility of camera sensor dust exposure due to frequent lens swapping. This lens have great focal range for close-ups and good range even for wildlife photographs. The variable reduction is also a good feature of this lens as it reduces camera shake when taking fast action situations.

I bought this for my D850 that I recently purchased because I can’t afford a bunch of different lenses. I am not disappointed. I got great pictures whether using it as a wide angle or telephoto lens.

I bought a D610 at Best Buy, knowing I would use it with my legacy manual focus lenses from bygone days when I was a pro. Then I got the idea that I wasn't using the camera to its full potential, so I got the 28-300 ED VR lens.
This lens is great in that it covers the full range of focal lengths, has Vibration Reduction, and its quick Auto Focus capability makes using Live View a snap. Plus it allows Program and Shutter Priority modes, which are unavailable to MF lenses.
But the lens is big and has a large petal shade, which is disproportionate to the D610 sans the battery grip. And I felt that for a lens costing over a grand, the optics should have been slightly crisper, especially at the 28mm end.
So thank goodness to Best Buy's generous return policy, I went back to my familiar, old legacy lenses.

Unless you are a professional and must have the "Holy Trinity" all you photography needs will be met with the lens. It runs heavy but it was lighter than my 24-120mm.

This lens is used with a new Nikon D750 body and replaces a DX 18-200 lens I used with a retired D7000. I have found it produces very sharp images with no serious distortion. I compared it with a recently purchased FX16-35 Nikkor lens. This lens is as sharp as the wide angle and has less distortion. I have done nice architectural work with it for exteriors and need to see how it does on interiors where the 16-35 will probably do better. The lens is also very nice on group photos and has a wide enough DOF that everyone is in focus. It is heavier than it's DX equivalent but its manageable and it has the lock but doesn't have barrel creep so far. Slightly stiff zoom ring has a sure feel. I am very Happy with this lens and will probably have in mounted on my D750 90%+ of the time.

A wonderful lens for unplanned opportunities. It is slower than prims, yet with most modern full framers you can increase the ISO while taking advantage of its stability system. A good investment for versatility when needed.

I rely on this and the Z 35 1.8 S for my Nikon Z6. I also have the DX equivalents for my D7500. Those two lenses are all you need to capture most images. Lens construction has reached a point where there are really no bad lenses. It comes down to convenience and personal preference. I find myself continuing to value convenience and versatility over some abstract, and usually invisible, standard, or test result from a laboratory.

I absolutely love this camera. It's perfect. I took it on a recent trip to Africa and used it on endless safaris and animal conservation projects. Two things to keep in mind though: it is a ZOOM lens, so anything up close will appear blurry and out of focus. The nature photography setting on the camera base helps with this, but you want to be at least 1.5- 2 feet away from any small objects you want to take a picture of. Also, distant items, if they're smaller, may not focus properly. The lens constantly focused on the trees, when I wanted an image of an antelope. However, using the manual focus fixed the majority of this problem---just to keep in mind for beginners. Overall though, I am very pleased with this purchase.

This is the best lens I have in my kit and remains a solid investment to this day. I use it on a D3300, and since it is a cropped sensor the optics end up giving you slightly more zoom than if used on a full frame camera. The active image stabilization is a great feature. The focus ring is in a perfect place to use and switching between auto and manual focus on the fly is very intuitive.

I've been looking for a good deal on a Nikon 300 mm Zoom lens and Best Buy had the best price.
