I was looking for a super zoom point and shoot camera for wildlife photos and vacations. I was tired of lugging my Canon SLR and additional lenses on hikes, and never took it in my kayak. The 60x optical zoom is great, but you need to be very steady at longer zoom distances. Photos came out great, fabulous close ups of bear in Shenandoah National Park, and loon on Squam Lake in NH. Nikon has a larger zoom at 83x, but that camera was much larger, bulkier and heavier. The B700 was just what I was looking for.

This Nikon B 700 is fun and takes great photos. Zoom is good and I like not having to change the lense. The weight is good. I have taken over 3000 photos so far. The wi-fi works but I don’t use it enough to remember how to use it. I can get good close ups and distant photos when I zoom. You have to get use to when it is zoomed out all the way because you shake some so usually I just take several photos until I get one right but I am getting better.

I particularly like three things about the Nikon B700: the long zoom which brings birds and other wildlife in close; the seamless way photos get tagged with location data when they are transferred to a smartphone; and the relatively small size of the camera. Shortcomings: you will need a tripod for stabilizing the camera when shooting at its longest zoom focal length, and because the lens' widest aperture is limited in "Auto" shooting mode the camera tends to select very slow shutter speeds when taking indoor shots. Overall, lots of features packed into a relatively light and easily held package, and Nikon quality too.

This is my third digital camera. I am delighted with it so far. It does so much, it will take weeks of reading and testing to learn about it, but in the mean time "Auto" works fine. Recent shots of the moon were dramatic with full zoom. My only regret is that it takes a special battery. I was used to carrying spare AAs. NIkon hit a home run with this one.

Loved the coolpix s9100. But this is a step toward DSLR type control including view finder, articulated LCD and RAW output. Fits in my hands and takes great bird shots without fussing with different lenses. Now have to learn how to use all the relevant features.

This camera has the best of both worlds, it has a clear picture and a great zoom ability without going to the next level of camera. With the Nikon app having the pictures automatically download to your phone is a great feature

Very good even if you just use the automatics settings. Personalizing the settings is also a great option and learning tool.

I bought this camera for a safari to Africa. I needed a compact camera because I was also hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro and didn't want to lug along a full SLR and set of lenses. I also needed a much more powerful zoom than a small point and shoot camera to capture closeups of wildlife, especially birds. The Koolpix B700 turned out to be an excellent compromise. I got wonderful shots of all kinds of wildlife at the limit of the optical zoom. I was able to capture incredible pictures of everything from tiny 3-inch sunbirds to closeups of leopards over 100m away. I was also able to capture detailed photos of large raptors in flight and even a recognizable image of a rhinoceros well over a mile away. The image quality was good to excellent in most lighting conditions. All of the photos were taken without the use of tripods, although it was often necessary to brace myself to hold the camera steady. After doing some research and checking out a variety of similar cameras, I bought the B700 the day before I left for the trip, so I did not have time to learn all of its intricacies. But that was not a problem for most shooting situations. It took me longer, however, to learn how to use it for closeups, but once I did, I discovered it has an excellent macro. This camera is probably not for a professional as it does sacrifice some image sharpness, but if you can't carry around a lot of lenses, this little zoom camera is perfect. My biggest complaint is that at times the lens jammed when it was fully extended, and I would have to restart the camera to draw the lens back in. I lost a few great photo opportunities as a result, especially when a leopard left its perch 100 m away and came within a few feet of our car. By the time I got the lens refocused, the leopard was showing me its rear end. It would also be great if the camera lens was fitted to take filters. A skylight filter would protect the lens from dust and scratches. I was, however, able to fit my old polarizing filter to the lens, which allowed me to capture a rainbow. The battery was long-lasting, usually allowing me to take a couple of hundred photos and a little video without changing. I carried a spare, but really needed it only one day when the battery didn't make it through the morning for some unknown reason.

I did a lot of specification comparisons and choose this camera based on the new option of shooting in RAW that the other cool pix cameras didn't offer. Very frustrated to find out that they can only be viewed using Nikon's programs, I was not able to view or edit the RAW in the photos program or PSE. The camera is very compact, easy to use and takes great pictures.

This camera is excellent! It far exceeds what I expected from it. I also own the Sony a- 6000 which does not have the same reach, so therefore I purchased this Nikon. I wondered if when I used it I would feel like I was settling because it has less megapixels 20 versus 24 on the a 6000. But no, I am not settling-- it is awesome! I have gotten great photos and it is good in low light-- you just have to play with it a little bit and tweak the settings. I use the shutter mode in the low light and tweak it and voila, you get the light you need. The really cool thing about this camera is that you can use it in all the different modes. The shutter mode is my preferred mode with my cameras. The shutter mode on this does not disappoint me. And then, If you put it in multiple shots it's amazing how sharp it is. Coming from the a 6000( which is 24 megapixels) I was concerned that I would feel like I was settling. I don't feel that way at all! I have pictures of baby owls at a distance that I just could not quite get before and now I can! Key features for me: 20.1 actual megapixels. I did not want to go below 20 because I'm used to 24, and realistically once you're used to that you are going to be demanding and expect detail in your photos. This Nikon does not disappoint me. The pictures are sharp which is imperative the light weight... it is one of the lightest cameras in its class and the same as my a-6000. I don't carry over 18 oz with me in camera weight so i can walk all day and not feel it. the compact size... This size is perfect for my small hands. I use the a 6000 for the same reason they are both small. The battery is also lightweight. So carrying extra one around is no issue I highly recommend this camera and hope you enjoy it too :)

I purchased this camera after waiting for the A900 to be released to replace my S9700; but did not like the A900. I've taken about 5000 photos so far with the B700 and I keep getting amazed at the product. Easy to use, great images, but lacks auto-focus in dark light - you have to occasionally manually focus. I really like the viewfinder option that the B500 lacks. I like the extreme zoom (60x) but you might want to stabilize the camera with a monopod for those far away subjects. The 4K movie feature is great; even the sound direction sensors help.

Overall am very impressed with the zoom capacity of this camera. I originally was planning on get P900 but the price is out of my budget. I instead plan on settle for p610 only to find out that Nikon discontinued the model and replace it with B700. Generally am glad because they finally include Raw file in this model which help a lot. I know 60x for me is not what I expect but when I first use it for birding. I have to admit it was taken back by the quality. I do notice that when you shoot in jpeg mode you can use full 60x plus digital zoom. However when you go to Raw mode the zoom will stop at 60x no digital zoom. However I am still amazed with the quality of the picture at 60x however I still do need to practice. The build is well thought through. It kind of do feel light and flimsy due to plastic. I am happy because of the weight. Since it is so light, this make my camera to go every time I go out. Its so light that I am able to hold camera for long period of time without getting tired.

Great single lens camera, with a very good zoom, but may require some support if shooting long zoom shots. I bought it because of the need for a viewfinder. Most cameras of this type do not have one and using it in sunlight is very frustrating. Don't expect the viewfinder to be like a single lens reflex because it has an electronic viewfinder which could be improved upon. But still a nice camera .

was looking to upgrade myself and researched several point & shoot cameras. decided on this model as it gave me the features I wanted to be able to shoot hockey. it more than doubled my optical zoom and in sports mode it shoots 3-5 photos in a second. I am very happy with it as the photos are very sharp and I can get up closer than ever to the action

I use this camera as a backup to my DSLR's. It is a great walk around camera with a long lens. A DSLR with a magnification equal to this camera would be very heavy. The camera is good but not perfect. You do not have controls over the operation like a DSLR. Also you can not take pictures while the camera is storing the photos but for the price it is one of the best long lens bridge cameras.
