Ideal camera for the next few steps beyond point and shoot. I am very impressed with the features and versatility, but then again, it's a Nikon, I should have expected as much! Out of the box, the battery needed about 1.5hrs to charge (time enough to peruse the user's guide basics,) then it was good to go with some of the best pictures I have ever taken.

Having owned several Nikonos underwater cameras I am aware of the excellent quality Camera gear Nikon makes. The 3300 and its lenses are no exception. Easy to use, light weight, and very portable, this bundle is not just for the entry level photographer. It has the features of a much more expensive bundle. The VR lenses are a bonus. The sakes person AJ was a great guy and knew has way around the cameras. Wonderful experience at their Best Buy.

Excellent first DSLR. Bought for my daughter for Christmas and read many different reviews before deciding on camera. Cnet professional reviews were right on spot. This camera is excellent and has more than enough functions. Has most of the functions as the higher end Nikons and functions just the same as my nieces D5500. Best buy deal was fantastic and was excited to get such a good deal on black friday. Thanks best buy.

Like many other people, I have evolved my photography over many years. I started off with a nice, compact point-and-shoot digital camera that worked great for years. The advent of smartphones pretty much killed my compact point and shoot so I moved onto a compact mirror-less camera. It was great for a while and definitely an improvement over any smartphone that was (and is) on the market. But I didn't like the focus system and how two out of every 10 pictures would come out blurry. I also didn't like that it's low-light capabilities were lacking and the lenses were expensive because they aren't standard (lenses for Samsung and Sony mirror-less cameras are particularly expensive). So I wanted to upgrade to something a bit more serious, I wanted an improvement on my low-light photos, and I wanted something that would be easy to use while slowly easing me into the world of DSLR photography. Enter the Nikon D3300 bundle. This bundle, especially at the current sale price, is well worth it. First off, I want to talk about the bag. Yeah, the bag seems basic and it is but there is enough room in it to haul both kit lenses, the camera, the battery charger, extra batteries, lens cleaning material, an IR remote I purchased for my camera, an external flash, my GoPro 4, its carrying handle, and a microUSB cable for charging the GoPro. Most bags in camera bundles have enough space to hold whatever is in the bundle with little to no extra. I was surprised that the bag is big enough to comfortably carry everything. The two lenses that come with the camera are compact, they collapse when not being used into smaller form factors. It's something that mirror-less cameras have been doing for years and I'm glad Nikon decided to go this way with their kit lenses. I've read online that the lenses only allow for 9MP of detail to come through but I still haven't had any issues with them. The only additional lens I've purchased is the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens and that will probably be it as I haven't had any problems with the two included kit lenses. The one thing you have to watch out with Nikon DSLR cameras is that they do not have built-in optical image stabilization. Instead you need to buy lenses that feature this and both kit lenses have stabilization. Now onto the camera. This is an extremely light DSLR, it's even lighter than the compact mirror-less I upgraded from. Even with the longest lens, the camera setup is really light and easy to transport. I mainly have the included camera bag around one of my shoulders and use the neck strap for the camera itself. I have never experienced fatigue when doing this and I ended up carrying the camera (and bag) for a 10 mile hike. The viewfinder is easy to see through and setup shots. Some people complain about the focus points and how they're hard to see. There are 11 auto-focus points that are laid out in the viewfinder. You can either manually select one for the camera to focus on or use auto-focus and let the camera do the work (it does this especially well). When a point (or points) is (are) selected, it (they) will light up red. It's a brief flash of red and some people have a hard time viewing it. I can see it every time though. There are a bunch of settings that can be adjusted with the camera, pretty much everything offered in higher-end DSLR models is here too. The main difference between those and the D3300 is that the D3300 is a tad slower when operating, it only has one adjustment dial instead of two, and it can take 4 pictures a second in burst mode when using auto focus (5 with manual focus) whereas the next models up from Nikon will to 5 pictures a second, 6 with manual focus. So there's not to much difference, not until you start spending a lot more. I've been using this camera for a few months now and have yet to be disappointed. Auto-mode does a great job of taking shots. I know a lot of people think it's a sin to use a DSLR in auto-mode but guess what? I don't care. Auto-mode has yet to fail me when taking a picture and it actually lets me enjoy my surroundings instead of focusing on different camera settings. I've taken absolutely stunning shots with this camera in auto-mode and will continue to use it. There are also built-in presets that work really well. I tend to use those when I have a few more seconds and know what kind of shot I want (portrait, landscape, low-light portrait, etc.). Speaking of low-light shots, this camera does a rather nice job. Pictures in auto-mode come out nice though they tend to be on the noisy side. That's when it's time to bring out the tripod and slow the shutter speed down a bit (if you're shooting a still object). I was able to take some great night shots of Niagara Falls with a slow shutter speed making the falls look as if they're frozen. Videos are top notch as well. I record all of my videos at 1080p and 60fps. I can slow them down to half speed or play them back at their full framerate. The videos are smooth, offer lots of detail, and I haven't come across any compression artifacts. The battery life of the camera is normally great (about 500 shots before needing to be recharged) but recording video chews through the battery. That's mainly due to having to use the live view LCD display when recording video, you can't use the viewfinder for video. You can also only use one focus level for video recording. That means your subject can become out of focus if they're moving, you'll have to manually tell the camera to re-focus while recording video. It's a negative for that but it's also positive as most auto-focus systems are rather terrible when recording video as a subject will go in and out of focus while just sitting there. Plus it means you're going to hear the focus motors in the lenses/camera when they're constantly adjusting the focus. I purchased some additional accessories and one came with the camera that's not listed in the bundle. At the time, Best Buy threw in the Nikon wi-fi adapter with this bundle. Overall, it's junk. Well, it might not be junk, it could very well be their iOS app. The setup process was easy but live view on my phone is slow, the framerate is atrocious, and I can only adjust the focus point of the camera and take a picture when using live view through their app. It's a shame that I can't really change anything else. I don't recommend the wi-fi adapter. I've tried to use mine three times and will never worry about it again. I also purchased two extra batteries online but really, the battery life of the camera is already great enough that I didn't need to the two batteries. I went on a three day trip to Niagara falls, took a little over 300 photos (which is a lot), and the battery is sitting at about 50%. I also picked up an IR remote for the camera and I highly recommend that especially if you want to pull off some tricky nighttime shots that will be ruined by you pushing in the shutter button the camera (shots where the shutter is left open for a while). I also recommend a travel tripod, one that can sit on uneven surfaces and even grip onto things (like poles). They really come in handy, don't take up much space, and are more durable than they look. Lastly, I highly recommend getting an external flash. The camera's built-in flash is nice, for what it is, but you'll want something that is truly adjustable and has more reach. Lastly, you will want to look into one of Nikon's 50mm lenses. They're great for portraits, everyday pictures, and low-light conditions with their lower f/1.8 and f/1.4 apertures. I have the 50mm lens with the f/1.8 aperture and night shots, without the flash, are highly detailed. Even for soft focus background portraits, the 50mm lens works great (you just have to find the right focus distance and aperture setting). I really can't recommend this camera enough if you are a beginner and want to get your feet wet. It's a perfect bundle that comes with everything you'll need to get shooting on day one although you'll want to pickup a couple more accessories once you get the hang of it. It's a great starter pack and the camera should easily last you a few years until you're ready to step up to something else, if you ever find a need to step up. Personally, this is going to be my primary camera for years to come. I trust it with taking pictures of my children as well as for vacations and various other needs. I don't see myself upgrading unless Nikon comes out with something that is truly worth it, not just being a little faster, adding an additional adjustment dial, and taking 1 more picture per second. Lastly, I wasn't sure about the red color, I think it kind of looks like Iron Man's camera. I wanted the all-black one but Best Buy didn't have any in-stock, they only had the red bundle in the stores (black could be ordered online). In-person, the red really isn't that bad. It definitely isn't discrete but it looks nice. Both colors look nice though I think the black looks more professional, that probably has to do with DSLR manufacturers sticking to black while point-and-shoot cameras are offered in a variety of colors. Either way, you can't go wrong with this camera. I highly recommend it over Cannon cameras in the same price range. The Nikon D3300 is going to outperform them in terms of picture quality though the Cannon's might offer a feature or two that's not in the Nikon (like built-in wi-fi or an LCD display on a swivel). But the Nikon is going to take better pictures, especially low-light pictures, and have a faster auto-focus system.

Great camera! My pictures are better quality than many professionals. This camera is easy to use and light enough to carry everywhere for long periods of time. I have friends lining up asking me to take their children's pictures for them because of how great my pictures look now. Hard to believe I ever settled for anything less.

The Nikon D3300 camera kit is great for someone starting out with DSLR photography, or even a more experienced user trying to stretch their dollar. The included lenses can handle most situations, and the camera is capable of using any Nikon lens using the F mount. The camera has a good mix of automated settings for novices, as well as the ability to fine tune the aperture, ISO, and shutter speed (among other things) for the more experienced photographers. The camera feels sturdy in the hand, and is not overtly heavy. The D3300 also has a fast power on cycle, making it easier to capture those sudden moments that you can't exactly anticipate. While this camera does make some small sacrifices in order to hit its price point, those are generally things that only a professional photographer would notice, let alone be concerned about. For the majority of people looking at this model to get into DSLR photography, it's a great deal and has just about everything you need in a DSLR camera and lenses.

This wasn't a planned purchase in the beginning. I originally was going to wait a little while longer before buying a camera like this, but a class I'm taking calls for a DSLR camera. This camera is one heck of a wonderful camera. The quality is outstanding, and the controls are able to be worked with and I was able to understand it fairly easily. This was bundled with an additional attachable lens, which I was surprised with. Surprised and happy at the same time. I love this camera.

This was my first camera and so far has been wonderful. The quality is amazing, it is very lightweight, and the battery life is great! Being a beginner however, the camera is a bit complex for me, but nothing reading the manual won't fix. I highly recommend this camera if you are looking for good quality photos without the price of a professional camera!

first time owning a dslr camera. I love it. Dont miss shots of the kids anymore. There is a learning curve, of course and experimenting is fun. But it fast and quality of shots is very good. Video is better than our video camera. I would recommend buying an extra battery(even though battery life is good) and a fast memory card.

Full array of functions to satisfy even the professional. Difficult shots become almost easy. Lo light shots are handled well. Camera is smaller and lighter than many, and this is a plus in my book. I don't leave the camera home because of bulk or weight.

I bought this package because I will travel around the world and I wanted a camera I could rely on. So far it has not let me down. For a bundled price, I got the camera, the 200 mm lens and a case to carry it in. The camera is professional grade. It takes high quality pictures, is very easy to use from a beginner to a professional. The coolest thing about this set is the camera body is red, which naturally draws the subjects eyes when you're taking a picture as opposed to the standard black. The camera bag is also great quality, durable as I have taken it to China with me from America. This is a great value, a must for anyone planning to take a lot of pictures.

Being our first DSLR, we weren't looking to spend as much as you could on a camera. We got this in a bundled package that included a bag and an additional zoom lens. The camera is easy to use out of the box using the "Guide" and "Auto" features. When you're ready to begin using more specific features, the "Guide" does a nice job of presenting you with options depending on what you're shooting. The auto focus is pretty fast and taking rapid pictures (without burst mode) is pretty good. The battery lasts around 250-300 pictures, which I feel is good. The HD video looks nice and the sound it captures is acceptable.

im not a professional photographer by any means but after doing a little research i decided on the Nikon D3300. I demoed this unit in my local store before purchase and was content with it. after a few days of use its clear to me that once you learn how to use it, it becomes a great tool. night shots of the moon were great on a clear night, cant say much about macro shots as to im not yet accustomed to how to do them. I purchased this with the full intent of doing everything manual and decided it was much cheaper than trying to use film as a hobby. If i had it to do all over again i would go for the next model up, but finances kept me from that this time. The Paired software is a life saver for editing, not much different from LightRoom. the only draw back is the WiFi adapter. Although it work sometimes it looses connection to your smartphone. but i foud that if your Bluetooth is on it interferes. and currently there is no windows app to support wireless transfer with the adapter.

I finally wanted to upgrade from a point and shoot but didn't want to break the budget. After consulting with a few professional photographers and sharing what I was looking for they suggested this camera. So, far I have had great success with capturing some amazing photos, even with using auto. I plan on attending online classes to better learn how to use it however one could pick it up and use reading the manual if they so choose. I have taken pictures at surprise birthday parties since purchasing and the hosts were extremely happy with the shots taken capturing the events.
