Customers are pleased with the camera's quality, ease of use, and affordable price. Many also appreciate its lightweight design and the inclusion of Bluetooth connectivity. While some found the size a bit large and auto focus speed could be improved, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these minor drawbacks. The additional lenses are a welcome feature for many users.

I love this camera, it is so much lighter than my Nikon D80. I highly recommend this camera to everyone.

I bought this as an upgrade to my mirror-less digital. I have also used film SLRs in the past. It is a good combination. Having the telephoto lens is a good addition.

Nikon D3400 DSLR Camera

This set of the Nikon D3400 DSLR camera and the wide angle and zoom lenses is excellent. The camera can be used as a point and shoot camera with auto focus or it can be used in almost any mode clear down to everything manually controlled. It is easily used and makes a good transition for someone moving from a point and shoot camera to more sophisticated photography.
Nikon lenses are very good and they are easy to change. The camera has several options for auto-focus that are easy to use. The eyepiece for focusing has a diopter adjustment and the eyepiece or the screen can be used for focusing.
The camera has Bluetooth capability for connection to a computer that has that capability. However, there is no USB cable included for connection to a computer, so the user must rely on Bluetooth capability for transfer to a laptop or the SD card must be removed from the camera and inserted into an appropriate slot in the laptop.
The price for the combined set is also very good and the manual is very complete and understandable.

Great Entry Level DSLR Camera

As someone who has used a variety of camera's from a 35mm Pentax to a Point and Shoot Canon I have some experience but am by no means a pro with years of photography in different situations. I will try to review the D3400 as an entry level DSLR and nothing else. Ease of use can vary from using the AUTO mode or specific scene settings and letting the camera decide what to adjust or you can shoot manual and make all the adjustments. The D3400 does really well in low light with the kit lens that are provided, the 18-55mm does great for a variety of shots from scenery to individuals. I have found Snapbridge to work with no issues at bluetooth connecting to my phone and moving pictures to it automatically. Personally I do not post a lot of photo's to social media so don't feel a need for this, but it does work. Keep in mind it will not move a large file JPEG to your phone but reduces it to about two meg. The camera has enough complexity to allow me to do a lot of things with out spending a ton of money or having so much complexity it takes a lot to learn. It does not have WiFi, GPS or a tilt touch screen but I don't feel a need for those at this point. The camera is small, light but well made even if it is plastic compared to the higher priced models. I do find that accessories such as lens and flash are more expensive than those for Canon cameras and that everything the Best Buy rep told me concerning Nikon vs Canon in the store to be true and would give a Big Thank you to him. If you want a new DSLR with plenty of features and great color this is easy to recommend.

...and I searched through a ton! I have to admit, I've always been a Canon guy. I would describe my interest in photography as amateur but mildly passionate. This camera comes with 2 kit zoom lenses, both of which are amazing DX (crop sensor) lenses, probably best used for well lit situations like sports. I will tell you that the first thing I bought after this camera is a DX 35mm 1.8G prime lens, also sold by Best Buy.
The DX (crop sensor) cameras above this price point, in my opinion have more features, but are not any better as far as quality is concerned. This is of course not true once you get into the realm of full frame Nikons, but good luck getting one for under $1000. For photography you're not planning on getting paid for, you can't get much better than this. Rich colors, stunning clarity, and enough customizable features for you to get lost in, this is a wonderfully versatile camera. With this package, you're getting hundreds of $$$'s in lenses for next to nothing. If you're just getting into photography, you'll find this more than meets your needs.
My advice... get a 1.8 (aperture) prime lens as soon as you can. You can take stunning pictures with high shutter speeds in extremely low light situations so you're not forced to use high ISO to compensate (makes the pic grainy). Nikon makes 2 great ones for VERY cheap... a 35mm and a nifty 50. I've taken great quality photos in a large room by the light of a TV where it was too dark for autofocus. No kidding. I had to turn on the autofocus light just so it could see.
Questions I've been asked:
Yes, you can take pics in RAW.
Yes, it has great video for movies. You can do 24fps for that "movie" look. With the cheaper lenses, auto focus motor can sometimes be heard in quiet situations.
Yes, you can use professional full frame lenses... but the picture will be cropped (appears zoomed in).
Yes, you can use the SnapBridge app to sync your camera to your smartphone via bluetooth. It sends a scaled down 2MP version of your image to your phone for Facebook, Instagram uploads. You CAN send the full sized pic, but I don't. (Heard of some connection issues, but none with my Galaxy S4. User error? You have to make sure both your camera and your phone app have complimentary settings).
Yes it does have some image retouch and filters built in, but I don't use them. That's what Lightroom is for.
Yes, you should get a prime lens. I recommend the 35mm, 1.8G. Great for portrait photography and getting good bokeh (blurred background that makes foreground stand out).
Could not be more pleased!

For newer photographers, I highly recommend the Nikon D3400. It does not include a lot of the fancier features that some of the other models that Nikon has, along with it's competitors, but overall this is a well rounded camera that takes EXCELLENT shots.
I'm beginning to expand a little more with my hobby in photography/videography so I will eventually be selling and upgrading. I originally got this camera just last November during Cyber Monday. I got a 50% deal on it so I decided that I could not possibly pass this up. I am glad I took full advantage of that price and so far this camera has done me very well.
For people who are into self photography (self portraits for example), I would not recommend this camera as it has a hard time focusing on you without someone else handing it. Its very user friendly with great standard and simple features that will help you get by while still taking excellent pictures and video without sacrificing any quality. Sometimes price isn't always what matters. You can get a very well rounded quality camera without having to spend in the thousands.

The price of the bundle is cheap and worth what comes with it. The camera is light to carry around. The color is great. Quality of photos are awesome. 24.5 mp compared to 18mp from canon.

I’ve only had this camera for a few weeks but I love it. There is an auto mode that takes great photos. It also comes with a photography class.
There is an app that will allow you to download your photos to your smart phone via Bluetooth.
I’ve been impressed.

I purchased the red version for my wife for Christmas 2016 and after a year of usage she is still very delighted with this camera. It takes beautiful pictures and is easy to use. There are many many features and she is still learning to use them all. Half the fun is the experimentation with settings I believe!! It made her old camera obsolete and kindled a new passion for photography. Mostly it has been used while hiking and camping and has stood up to those conditions very well. She loves it and I'm glad I purchased it for her. I recommend Nikon and this is a wonderful early camera for someone who is looking to get into the DSLR camera field.

I'm new to DSLR cameras, although I've wanted one for years. I finally gave in and bought this one after doing a lot of research. Although I wish it had WiFi connectivity for easier picture sharing, I don't have any other complaints. I am thankful the menus explain themselves. The instruction book isn't a lot of help, but, if you run into trouble, there are plenty of resources on the internet. The camera can be a bit complicated to a complete beginner and I was a little overwhelmed. I still have a lot to learn, but I am very pleased with my purchases. The pictures it takes are stunning and the video is pretty nice. There are more pros than cons, I would purchased this same camera again.

Beautiful camera taking nice pics. Just taking me longer than I thought to get used to it and understand it. Great price for the bundle that I bought with camera, 2 lens, battery and nice bag. I love the beautiful red color, setting it apart from those other usual black ones. Great buy!

Whether you're just starting out with photography, or you're adding another camera to your bundle, this camera is great for any level of photography you're at!
I myself am a professional with years under my belt. But when I saw this on sale I decided it was time to make an investment and I haven't been disappointed. The bundle I bought came with two lenses, a 18-55mm, and 70-300mm. If you're experienced with photography you're aware that's a pretty good deal. And if you're not, you'll have fun learning how to play around and learn what different lenses can do.
Some very cool features of this camera include a built in Guide for learning more advanced photography skills such as shooting night scenes, sunsets, and portrait style photos. There's a feature for shooting in burst mode, for when you need to capture the perfect picture of the kids running around or the birds and squirrels playing in the front yard! Or turn the dial and play around with Manuel Mode to learn how to capture a still object with a blurred background. Whatever you're style, you'll find it in this camera!
The two biggest down sides I've found so far (after having the camera for about a month) is, first, that it's not easy to find accessories for this model. Whether its an extra battery or even a remote, I've had to search online to find what I'm looking for. But a plug in wall charger is included with this camera. The second is this; this camera comes with the built in SnapBridge app. When checking it out on the Play Store I saw it got very low reviews. And for me personally, that was enough for me not to use it. But investigate for yourself and maybe you'll find that it works and you love it.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, actually I did. And he loves it!
Overall I'm very satisfied with this camera and I'm sure you will be to!

I wanted a camera to document my husband and I's new life together. I have no intentions of being a professional, but I wanted high quality images of all the milestones in our life. I have not been disappointed. The instructional manual has been easy to follow and full of information for me to get quality images. It has explained what settings to adjust to get a blurry foreground and clear background and vice versa. When this busy wife finds more time, I look forward to reading more of the manual to get better images.
