Great Card - Despite All the Criticism

I was hesitant to buy this card because of all the negative reviews it’s got. It seems most of the criticism comes from pc junkies who upgrade to the best and newest components with every release, and then project their criticism on the internet for views and $. However, there are some of us, like myself, who’ve sat on a 3060ti for years, and finally pulled the trigger on a relatively affordable card. I can’t emphasize how happy I am to have finally done it. 1440p gaming is no issue for this thing. I seriously have not run into any hiccups or downfalls. I will not be projecting the hyperanalyzed data this card outputs, however, I’ll give my honest feedback on my experience. Every thing I’ve thrown at it runs silky smooth - DLSS 4 on supported titles is unmatched; delivering seemless gameplay all around. Sure, NVIDIA should include more VRAM to justify the price, but it seems like they’re compensating with the AI frame gen and improvements to DLSS - which I’m totally pleased with. I haven’t had too much of an experience in VR with this card, as Meta hasn’t included the 50 series gpu’s in their recommended specs listing yet. But everything I’ve played so far, is nothing short of pure fun. Totally worth it! If you’re like me, sitting on a 5-6 year old card, and looking for a great performing upgrade without dropping $1k+ on something that’ll be rendered obsolete in a couple of years, then just pill the trigger on this one already. You won’t be disappointed!

A Game-Changer for Cyberpunk

After six months of using the Radeon 7800 XT, I decided to upgrade. I initially tried it out because I was curious about AMD after being loyal to NVIDIA for the past five years. Before this, I had the 4070 Ti.
Honestly, the Radeon 7800 XT is a solid card! I prefer its software over NVIDIA's, and it performs really well in rasterization. But when it comes to ray tracing (RT), it just doesn't hold up. I considered getting the Radeon 9070, but I couldn’t justify paying more for a Radeon card purely out of curiosity.
In my experience, the 7800 XT's performance was comparable to the 4070 Ti for 1440p raster gaming. That said, I’m now gaming on the 5070 FE, and the difference is impressive. Playing Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, I get twice the frames and far better image quality compared to the 4070 Ti, thanks to features like DLSS4 and frame generation 4x.
If you can snag a 5070 FE at MSRP, I highly recommend it. I was lucky enough to find one at a store 30 miles away. The round trip took an hour, but it was totally worth it. The card is well-built, compact, and looks great. The new packaging is also nice, though I miss the old HDMI and DVI dust caps for port protection.
Right now, I’m running Cyberpunk 2077 with the RT Overdrive quick preset. I’ve set DLSS Super Resolution to "quality" and DLSS Sharpness to 1, which gives me anywhere from 120–180 FPS depending on the scene. The fans average around 50%, and the temperatures hover between 74–76°C, occasionally spiking to 78°C on both the memory and core.
Overall, I’m really happy with the upgrade and absolutely recommend the 5070 FE over any other card at MSRP for 1440p gaming.

This card has so far exceeded my expectations, after a ton of research and a lot of reviews bad mouthing the cards “value” I can without a doubt say I am shocked at how amazing GPUs have come. I have never been one to buy the best of the best so the 70 series has always been in my price range and as an owner of a 4070 super (which many compare to this card) I can say I prefer this card as the 4070 super had issues with certain games and memory leaks causing crashes and bugs, maybe that was the specific card I bought but this card is amazing and is definitely more stable.
What I recommend to those wanting to get the most and extend the life of this card is to look into undervolting. On this FE I was able to undervolt at 2790 Mhz/ 950V. The result was a card that performs about 5~10% less BUT shockingly more efficient. It dropped 15 degrees at load and the stock fan curve is quieter than anything I’ve ever owned. I am still able to max out my 165hz 1440p monitor on almost all the games I own with tweaks to settings and DLSS on occasion.
If you are looking into buying this card and can get it at MSRP don’t overthink it and just do it! It may seem helpless to find stock but keep trying! I managed to get it by having my wife and I check Best Buy every day or so at random times and was able to add it to cart twice in the last two weeks so stock is there if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Backstory:
Upgrading from a 3080 FE to a 5070 FE is unthinkable, but I sold my 3080 FE to another FormD T1 owner with a "The Bro" discount/hookup, leaving me a net cost of about $200 for single player frame gen + 4 years of warranty (3 + 1 Visa).
I took the bait and expected to pure mediocracy...
This card blew my expectations out of the water. I only expected a 10-15% uplift, but with a pretty aggressive undervolt (935mv @ 3000 Mhz), those expectations were exceed while using around 170W on full load. Temps fight to get past 70C as well.
3Dmark and Heaven Benchmarks aren't church but theyre pretty consistent. I've attached those as well:
Also, I've thrown in some size comparison pics for 3080 FE beside the 5070 FE in case anyone else needs those.

Great all-aluminum construction with overall quiet fans. There's a bit of coil whine at high loads but completely manageable.
I was able to undervolt it to 2850 MHz @ 900 mV & + 2000 MHz memory clock speed with no performance drop. Peak temp dropped from 72 to 64 C, power consumption from 220 to 150 W.

This card runs great. Coming from a 2080 TI, my computer was struggling to hit 144 fps at 3840x1600. I hit 200+ fps on everything I play and it never gets over mid 50'c under full load. 10/10
Note: My box was opened by the store because they "thought it was the packaging box" which was annoying but I wasn't going to wait another two weeks for a new card to come in. GG

I understand the performance from the 40 series cards but the 5070 performs just as good as I need it to be for the game I play and enjoy. If you consider of getting it, I’d say do it! Though it has a different cooling mechanism, it’s still has a great way of keeping your card cool. Get it while you can at its MSRP!!

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 Founder's Edition delivers exceptional 1440p and solid 4K gaming performance with impressive ray tracing and DLSS 4 support. Runs cool and quiet, though pricing feels steep for mid-tier. A future-ready choice for serious gamers.

I changed from 4070 to 5070 because I wanted to give my brother my gpu. I have been using for months, it is working great. I provided me high quality and performance for 1440p, but 4k is still has latency and inputs lag.

5070 FE if you can find at MSRP is the best price to value card for 1440p gaming. Every game I have thrown at it the card was able to give excellent performance. The card looks incredible and has no coil whine. Runs extremely quiet as well.

Undervolting makes this a worthwhile card @ MSRP

First: If you get a card, or really any RTX 3000+ series card, Undervolt it. Look up a guide on how to undervolt your specific card for some initial suggestions & and 'how to', using MSI Afterburner, customize/adjust the clock/power curve. Just do it. Use a windowed benchmark to determine if a given setting is at least passably reliable.
Why's that important? Results with mine ended up a slight 'overclock' vs stock ~240W TDP, down to ~140W @ 2855mhz/875mV. Less heat, less noise, lower power bill. Slightly better performance, especially with a +2000mhz ram adjustment.
Game wise - I haven't played anything that really pushes the limits of a 10GB+ card recently. MS FS 2020 would be the most likely to do so if I fired it up again. Nonetheless, it's been a nice experience in the couple games I have played - namely Satisfactory.
Fan curve is a little aggressive @ stock wattage and it's noticeable. Apparent Minimum 30% fan speed (when on) is ~1725rpm. Plainly audible in an otherwise nice quiet case. Undervolting, though, really does help the card adhere to the bottom of that fan curve - typically not hitting more than about 40-50c while running a reasonably demanding game.
Without undervolting, running ~240-250W, at stock clocks, these can get pretty warm and noisy - fans getting up to 2600-2900 rpm - so there's truth to that if you've heard it elsewhere. For the short time I had it @ stock, it didn't seem to get near Maximums temp wise, but I did see 80c.
It'd be nice if Nvidia tuned these more for 'efficiency' on their power/performance profiles, but they would also (rightfully) be concerned about stability for *all* units as a product lineup. It'd also be nice if 5080 and 5090 FE were more available, too.
Design & hardware wise, fit/finish is as good as I've seen it on any RTX 3000+ Founders Edition card, including my 'old' 3080FE being slightly upgraded here. All have a very premium look & feel - solid in the hands. For reference, this undervolted 5070 FE performs about 15-20% better, and ~180W less than the stock TDP of a 3080 FE. Less than half the power consumption for more performance.

A Mid-Range Marvel

NVIDIA has done it again. The RTX 5070 Founders Edition punches far above its weight class, delivering flagship-level performance at a mid-range price point. This sleek, well-engineered card embodies the classic NVIDIA design aesthetic with a dual-axial cooling setup that runs whisper-quiet even under full load.
The biggest highlight? Grand Theft Auto VI running at a buttery-smooth 120fps at 1440p on Ultra settings. The RTX 5070 chews through Rockstar's highly detailed open world with ease, showcasing the power of the Ada Lovelace refresh architecture and DLSS 3.5 frame generation. Even in high-traffic zones or explosive action scenes, the frame rate remains rock solid - a testament to the card's cooling efficiency and raw GPU horsepower.
Ray tracing performance is excellent for this tier, and with DLSS enabled, visuals remain crisp and fluid. For gamers upgrading from a 30-series or below, the 5070 represents a major leap in fidelity and responsiveness. Temperatures hover around 65-70°C during extended sessions, and power consumption is surprisingly modest for the performance delivered.
In short, the RTX 5070 Founders Edition is a fantastic choice for 1440p and even light 4K gaming, especially for those eager to experience the latest AAA titles like GTA VI at high frame rates without spending top dollar. It's efficient, quiet, beautifully built, and offers tremendous value - a sweet spot in NVIDIA’s current lineup.

Decent Value at MSRP

Given how awful the GPU market is (as of April 2025), being able to get this card at $550 MSRP is probably the best price/performance ratio out there. Even though the 9070 is better, good luck getting that at a reasonable price. But then again, good luck getting this card...
Also, this card feels like it should have been the '5060' based on a variety of metrics like the questionable 12gb of VRAM and equivalent performance to the 4070S. For 40-series users this card is not an impressive leap and should be ignored. I'm coming from a 3070, however, and the performance gain has been impressive. This card is also cheaper than the 3070 I bought years ago, so there is definitely value here.
I think its the only 50-series card that is worth it/won't light itself on fire/probably has all of its ROPS. Time will tell how long 12gb of VRAM is useful for...

Ok .. there are a lot of ppl out there saying to not buy this card. don't listen.. this gpu is awesome. Totally fulfilled my expectations. Couldn't be happier with the proformance. And best buy always comes through with the good prices they simply cannot be beat. I got this card at msrp. Good luck doing that anywhere else. It did take me two months from launch date to get it but supplies are just starting to normalize. All in all an amazing card for the money don't listen to all those blowhards on YouTube.
