Customers often highlight the improved design and usability of the SHIELD Remote with Voice compared to its predecessor. They appreciate the backlit buttons, comfortable grip, and sleek design. The voice control feature is also well-received, allowing users to conveniently control their TVs. However, some customers express concerns about the battery life and the dedicated Netflix button, which they feel is unnecessary.

One of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. Instead buying a new Shield, I got this and it made a world’s difference. Much better remote than the original. Makes my old 2017 Shield feel new

For anyone with the 2015 or 2017 Shield, it really is worth the price to get this new remote. I replaced the remote on my '17 Shield with this. Backlit, far easier to use (has more buttons, but not too many), and takes normal AAA batteries instead of the flat cells. Just having the dedicated volume buttons alone make it worth the cost, but having a dedicated pause button is really good too. The shape is easy to hold, despite what you might think by looking at it.

Coming from using the Shield TV Remote from 2015, I was getting a little tired of having to constantly find it after the wife looses it in the couch every other day. That and the fact that it does not have an IR blaster to power on/off/control the sound system made it time to upgrade just for my family's own sanity.
In comes the new Shield TV Remote from 2019. This one has a few super nice benefits even though I liked the old ones small sleek design and function.
Firstly, this one lights up which is helpful when using it or looking for it at night.
Second, this thing uses 2 AAA batteries so no longer are you needing to charge it every week or so.
Thirdly, the shape and size of the device is very nice to hold and use, and keeps itself from falling into the abyss of the couch because it is wide enough to sort of wedge and stay on top. And if it does happen to get lost, you can locate it from the Shield TV itself (Though since mine is a older 2015 Pro, I need to use another remote to get to that option, which I have plenty of others via gamepads and such so this is not a con in any way).
Lastly, the device has an IR Blaster so it only takes one remote to power up the Shield, TV, and Logitech surround sound and get to viewing.
Overall it's a fantastic little upgrade to an already fantastic Android TV device.

These remotes are fantastic. Work flawlessly with Shield TV. Respond to touch very well and have adequate buttons to perform the task.
My issue being this is my third remote, because apparently they are tasty to my two puppies. Out of all the chew toys and bones and "indestructible" furry toys, my doggies apparently cant get enough of these delicious remotes.

This replaced my original Shield 2017 remote which still worked perfectly. However from a functionality standpoint this is a better remote that is thoughtfully laid out. The dedicated buttons like power, volume, mute etc. are very convenient in operations. Well done.

I love this remote until the dog ate it literally. The voice works great and the buttons are laid out nicely. They also finally upgraded the back panel with a button so that the cover does not fall off when you drop it. Bravo Nvidia!!!!

Great remote! More buttons that before which I find to be great for customizing. It's larger and heavier which is also great as it stays in your hand. The buttons light up when you grab and click the remote, big plus. Easy to pair and easy to use.

It's much better than the minimalist remote that came with previous version of the shield. It seems optimized for watching movies. Pause/Play and volume control are much improved. Just the right number of buttons. If you have an older shield it's worth the upgrade.

A way better remote than the one that came with my nVidia Shield 2019 edition. Motion activated backlight, uses 2 AAA batteries.
If I had one complaint, it would be the HUGE Netflix button. You can remap it in the Shield by installing the "button remapper" application, so, it's not that big of a deal.

I got the 2017 version of the Nvidia Sheld, and I like it, but I didn't like how quickly the batteries died in the remote. This remote has more features with it, and going from the CR2032 batteries to the AAA is great change. Programming was easy and simple and took no time.

Gotta say is my prefer control when I use my nvidia shield, love the led lightning motion sensor. The fact that uses AAA battery is a good thing, course it would be even better if it was also rechargeable. But not a big deal for me works just great.
