I've been wanting a VR headset ever since they were in development. After a few years went by, I saw the Oculus at best buy for a steal of a deal; comparing it to its original price. I also like that best buy offers a 2 year warranty, allowing me to have fun & share with friends without any worries about damage. I was extremely impressed by the tracking with just 2 sensors. (You can buy a third tracker but no rush, you can get it anytime you're ready.) This headset is also very comfortable and still fits nice & snug. You could play for hours without any discomfort. The setup is really simple. It walks you through the entire process and even makes it fun. This headset turns any simple room into a vast world to explore and discover anew realities you've never experienced.

Tried it in store and I bought it right away! Now that it's more affordable, I highly recommend it for a great VR experience! Comes with 2 sensors, 2 controllers and the headset. So make sure you have at least 3 USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI out on your PC. It was a challenge getting the sound from my laptop out to an external speaker butwas able to do so by buying a separate device and did some tweaking in the oculus software. My kids love them and laughe played for hours! Great thing to have if you're a gamer.

This was a gift for my son. He said that setting it up wasn't too difficult. The sensors were a little tricky to adjust because his room is small. He figured out a few kinks and made the necessary adjustments. He seems to be very pleased with it.

Did not know vr it’s so good I got it just out of curiosity if didn’t like it I could always return it. But I live it keep in mind you’ll need to do some rearranging because you need room to move around at least enough room to take a few steps in every direction

    Best choice for PC-based VR

If you're interested in experiencing PC games in VR, there are basically two choices: Oculus Rift Touch and HTC Vive. Rift Touch is cheaper than Vive, has glass lenses instead of fresnel lenses (sharper image), includes earphones in the headset, and is easier to set up (sensors can be placed on desktop and only require USB ports), and has far far superior controllers. Rift disadvantages compared to Vive: while you get room scale VR out of the box, when you're facing away from the two sensors, your body can obscure the controllers. For Vive-equivalent room scale, you need to buy a third sensor ($59) and place it behind you facing one of the front sensors. There's no breakout box to connect the headset to, which means the HDMI and USB cable connections coming from the headset have to be connected directly to the back of your PC. The headset and the two sensors require a total of three USB 3.0 ports. If you buy a third sensor, that needs a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, so make sure you have four ports available. Oculus has its own game store, and it has games that are exclusive that are not available on Steam. I'm not interested in being locked into a specific VR platform when things will likely change in the future. As to the quality of the VR experience using Oculus, it is the best you can get for 2017, barring the new Samsung Windows Mixed Reality headset. I've had no trouble with the headset and software, and the tracking works well if you are careful to stay in the play area you have defined. I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070 and can run all games at max settings so far. Highly recommended!

Even the packaging is beautiful. The level of attention to detail Oculus shows at all levels is excellent. Everything from the cords to the device itself are high quality. Setup is easy. Even the sensor setup is easy once you follow the visual directions. The graphics are stunning, and the experience is unparalleled - enhanced most of all by the Touch controllers. Whether flying in zero-gravity or waging magical duels you will lose yourself in the game and the experience. 100% recommend for all gamers both serious and casual. Recommend: You can play in a 5x5 space, but I recommend minimum 8x8 area in your home, preferably with a high enough ceiling you can't reach it while standing. Invest in a 6x6 padded foam mat so you can stand for a couple hours without shoes.

Remember the first time you played a video game? Now remember the first time you played a video game with "realistic" graphics, ten years ago? Now look at what we have today and see how far of a leap they have come. This review isn't about graphics, but it's about setting the bar for video games as an experience even higher. No, this thing isn't going to look as photo realistic as triple A games played on your monitor, but when you're in a game there's actual depth. Things are coming at you, but they're ACTUALLY coming at you now, rather than coming closer on your monitor. When you're racing in a car, especially with a wheel and pedal setup, or flying in a ship in space with a joystick, YOU ARE THERE. It is entirely immersive. Ok, let's get the "things to know" out of the way. 1. You need a decent computer to run this. 2. No, the field of vision doesn't fill everything you can see. 3. Yes, there are god rays. (White streaks of light shooting "toward" you, especially evident with white text on black backgrounds.) 4. The graphics aren't as amazing as plenty of AAA games available now, and aren't as high resolution. 5. You need some room, about 10ft x 10ft to play a lot of games, but some are ok just sitting down. 6. The headset does get a bit warm so you're toasty after a long play session. 7. The screen door effect is kinda sorta noticeable, depending on how immersed you are in gameplay. 8. Motion sickness. YMMV on this one. Some people can take a lot of intensity and some can't. 9. It is an incredible game changer. I don't regret my purchase at all. I have had zero issues with the headset. The tracking controllers work phenomenally. Honestly I was real iffy on the purchase because it's not entirely a small chunk of money, but within 30 minutes of putting it on I knew it was a revolution in gaming. I've shared the VR experiences I own with as many people as I can, and they're equally as impressed. I cannot wait for more content to come out. Yes there are a lot of "experiences" which are short, but there are plenty of great real games as well. I could go on for a long, long time about how awesome this thing is, but no matter what I tell you, no matter what you read here, you won't understand until you try it. So find a demo at a Best Buy store if they have one available and give it a shot. Let me know if you can get through the experience without at least thinking "wow!"

My wife and I went to an arcade that had a VR headset coupled with a motion platform that simulated a roller coaster ride. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped at the local Best Buy afterward and checked out the Oculus. There happened to be an Oculus rep there who demoed them for us and since the price for the complete package was reasonable at $350 we (well, more I) decided to buy a pair right then. I had been wanting them for a while so the time was finally right. Have to say I'm really enjoying them. The experience is really quite impressive, especially coupled with the right games. I bought MOSS first and had a blast playing the game. It was so immersive that sometimes you have to lift your headset up just to remember the world you're seeing isn't real. I'm playing Lone Echo now which I highly recommend. You really get the feeling of space and all its vastness. Just be careful and give yourself plenty of room. I don't know how many times I thought I was facing forward and when I took the headset off I was backward. You totally lose touch with the real world and occasionally I'll smack into something if I'm not careful. Also recommend you download the free Google Earth VR some time and travel around the world in 3D. It's quite an enjoyable experience to see the world presented in VR. Anyway, I primarily bought the Oculus because of it's great support in games, and because I'm into flight simulation and wanted to see what they would be like in that world. Wow, it is a totally different experience. It's hard to go back to a flat screen now after flying around in VR. Unfortunately manipulating the virtual controls still isn't easy but it seems to be getting better all the time. Once they nail that down I can't see ever going back to a flat screen to fly again. The sense of presence is truly remarkable. The headset itself is generally comfortable to wear. It's not overbearing, just every now and again a little too much weight will press on the bridge of my nose and get a little uncomfortable. Readjustment usually takes care of that. The lenses seem to need to be cleaned regularly or smudges start to form and the images get blurry. The headset sound is great and games that support spatial sound really pull you in with sound seeming to come from every direction. The controllers are comfortable and pretty intuitive for the most part. Setup was simple and Oculus supports several games I already have so it's great to now experience them in VR without having to buy them again. The image quality isn't as sharp as I would like, which I knew going in. To my eyes, I can see the pixels which takes away from some of the sharpness and fine details. However, after a while you get used to it and it doesn't really bother me much unless I'm trying to read some fine print on something. Gameplay is very smooth on my GTX 1080Ti and i7-7700K machine. Overall, I highly recommend these, especially at the sub $350 price. I really believe much much more is going to go to VR in the future so I think it's well worth to own a pair at this price point and point in time.

Lets start with overall experience. When first opening you will find everything is nicely packed and all parts are of good quality. Although I have found setup to be pretty simple following the instructions and online setup I can see some people having trouble. What can be hard to figure out is re-calibrating sensors can be confusing. you have to enter device settings and click on the sensors to do a re-calibration. Make sure you have plenty of room! I can not stress this enough, if you don't have enough room to use this properly things will seem glitchy even though they are not. Device works with Steam VR but not as well as native Oculus apps. A lot of people get sick when using VR so make sure you test this in the store before going all out on a VR setup. I found the entire experience of the Oculus to be fantastic when setup properly with the correct amount of room. Be careful what apps you buy for it as a lot of them are more like short demos then full experiences. The feeling of presence and actually being in the VR world is great.

Coming from PlayStation VR to Oculus rift it's a huge change with tracking and graphics, I am currently running a GTX 1060 and games run smoothly. The free games that are included I highly recommend Robo Recall for the true benefits of the Rift and you won't find yourself bored with a store full of VR games unlike *Cough* PlayStation.. *Cough*

Great product overall. Comfortable and very intuitive. The bundled controllers are awesome and are a must if you want to truly experience VR. What you must understand about VR is that this is 1st Generation. The graphics won't be great and there is definitely a screen door effect. But the immersion factor is incredible. It's a start of hopefully a very good future for VR and the Oculus is leading the pack when it comes to quality and price point.

I have had the chance to use my Oculus Touch for a few months now and I have to say that every time I put it on, I am blown away by how immersive it feels! I've used other systems in the past like the HTC Vive and the Google Daydream, which were both pretty cool, but the touch controllers really make the difference in my opinion. I also recently purchased RockBand VR and it feels even *more* immersive since you're holding the same object in real life that you see in VR. It's actually spot-on when you look out of the bottom of the headset and go between VR and the real world. The one thing I would give marks off for is the software as it can be a pain sometimes. The biggest drawback I found was that it's *very* difficult (although not impossible) to store you games on a separate drive from your main C:\ drive. There are some articles that show you how to do it, but this took me a while to get right. That said, I did not take any marks off of the score because it was a minor inconvenience and I was doing something "out of the norm". If you run the installer the way they want/expect you to, everything works great.

The Oculus Rift is such an incredible experience. You really get the feeling of being right in the action. I was a bit skeptical at first, having only tried the Oculus Gear VR that works with my Samsung phone. But as soon as I got it up and running, that skepticism is blown away pretty quickly. Just remember, if you are coming from my situation, the Gear VR is powered by a phone, while still powerful, is just a phone. The minimum PC specs to run Rift is a lot more than the most current phones. I do have a few points to add: - Make sure you have a good "VR space" around you that is free of objects..a 10x10ft space would be ideal, but at least 6x6ft. - While you can wear glasses with Rift, I found it easier and more comfortable to play without them. If you're really blind without them, you may want to make note of this. - The headset is surprisingly light, I didn't find much fatigue with it after an hour of use. That being said, you may want to take a break every 60-90mins to adjust your eyes. - The headset is very snug obviously to block out outside light. You can adjust it of course, but if you wear glasses, expect your lens to fog up because.. - YOU WILL SWEAT PLAYING THIS!! I can't stress this enough.. But it's a good thing, I'm sure a lot of us buying this could use some exercise, right? Seriously, the first time I played Robo Recall, I was exhausted afterwards! - A lot of people complain about the single wire coming from the headset. I found it very long, and if you have a PC case that can accept HDMI and USB from the front panel, that's an even better option. I never felt like it was in the way, I was aware of it, but never got the sensation I would be tangled up by it. The included games are very enjoyable, I have yet to sample them all, but Robo Recall and Echo Arena are two really great games to try out. Doom and Fallout 4 are coming out soon for VR as well. Only downside is you need a beefy PC to run this, but mine is hardly top of the line: PC Specs: AMD FX-8350 Gigabyte FM3 mobo 16 gb RAM Asus Strix GTX 1070 OC Even the rift and sensors are connected to USB2 ports instead of the recommended USB3. So you can get away with "average" PC performance as long as you have the proper graphics card. (Although I will be updating to a Ryzen or Coffee Lake system very soon!) In short, if you are even curious about VR, it is worth the plunge. Especially at the $399 price point. If you can, try it out in store or at a demo location, but you'll definitely fall in love with it. Very much recommended!
