This HP Omen desktop is an excellent choice. With the Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and the NVIDIA 1070, it has a lot of power and memory for everything. I've been very happy with it. Love the many USB outlets on the top and rear, the customizable LED lighting, and the aluminum housing.

I bought this computer to support the super-performance-demanding HTC VIVE VR system. It works great! The Best Buy sales assitant mistakenly told me this HP Omen didn't have a CD reader/burner, but I was pleased to find the tray pop out the front when I pushed an obscure button. Still, I thank him for steering me to this model that he thought better met my needs when I was looking at another one.
I like the placement of the USB ports, angled down on the top of the case. And the new SS-USB I/O's are super fast. I liked the small footprint, yet fully functional, keyboard that came with it, although I am currently using a different, lighted keyboard as one might notice in the picture. One more thing I like ... it is much quieter than my old computer. The only CON, and it has nothing to do with the computer itself, is that Microsoft doesn't want to let me install my old versions of Office (WORD and Excel). They keep hounding me to buy the new Office 365 (which will keep expiring every year), so you may want to go ahead and upgrade at the time of purchase if you need these. Me ... I'm just going to go cheap and keep doing these two apps on my old computer until it completely dies.

This was a fantastic computer at first. Fast, powerful, could handle any game I threw at it. I only used it about 4 times across a period of 3 weeks though, since I worked a lot. One day, it wouldn't boot up. It would just be a black screen with the mouse cursor. After doing some research and unfortunately not finding a fix, I had to perform a system reset and delete everything for it to work again. HPs are tidious for this. I didn't want to deal with this again and didn't use it enough for my moneys worth so I sold it because the problem happened shortly after the return period policy passed.

I purchased a stolen desktop computer about 90 days ago. I made an unboxing video it's on my YouTube channel. you can search on YouTube (how to add Paul Hendersonand).
I love it, and to this day it does exactly what I need it to do. I use it for 4K video editing and photoshopping. I'm not a gamer, but this computer came with all the internal components that I needed without having to build one myself. and paying the extra money for it. I give this OMEN two thumbs up.

If you are trying to get a pc that will play whatever game you want at a great price this is the one to get. Arma3, PubG, and Dayz are all games that are very difficult to run on high settings because they havent been completely optimized, but this has no problems running them on high or even max settings. Before i found this i was considering just building a new pc to save some money, but i think the time has finally come where prebuilts are vitrually the same price, without all the hassle.

As far as pre builts go this computer not only served the purpose I hoped it would, but also far exceeded it. I've played all current game titles and even used it with the Occulus rift. Only change I made to the computer was installing a 250GB SSD as a startup drive and it runs beautifuly!

I started looking into buying a new desktop computer because I hadn't upgraded in years. I initially wanted a regular work computer with a small or no discreet GPU. After looking around and seeing the prices I decided to take a look at a gaming computer. I decided on the HP Omen with GTX 1070. I have had it almost a year and have not had 1 issue with it. After buying it I kinda wished I had built my own but honestly with the components inside it would have not saved me a lot but it would have been nice to do. I will probably build my next PC but I don't regret buying this one bit and you won't either.

The first thing that will impress you is the start-up speed. You don't have your thumb drive or speaker jack holding a door open or just sticking out where they will get damaged. And there are plenty of USB ports to use.

This PC gives you a lot of bang for your buck. There's a lot of performance to be had with the i7 processor, 16 DDR4 RAM and the GTX 1070. This PC has been able to easily handle any game I've thrown at it, and ran at high to ultra settings (depending on the game, of course). I also have used this VR gaming. I have an Oculus Rift, and I have been able to easily run any VR game without issue. The system specs are well beyond the minimum requirements for Oculus, so there's still plenty of performance to be had. I have two machines for VR at my house, and this is the second. The first was a custom build. The specs are very similar, except the custom PC has an SSD. This is the only area the Omen doesn't quite match. The 1TB drive is fast, but it can't quite compete with an SSD. So, the load times are a bit longer on the Omen. Also, if you plan on doing a lot of gaming, the 1TB drive will likely fill up quickly. With the push for 4K in modern games, the assets take up an increasingly large amount of space, so it may be worth adding an extra drive. Luckily, HP has built this machine with the gamer in mind. The machine is easily upgradeable. It also has configurable lights on the front of the tower. They can be customized to any color, and even can be synced to CPU temperature - changing as the machine works harder. Very cool. If you're in the market for a VR-ready machine, this is an easy one to recommend. You may just want to add an additional hard drive for storage later down the road, and perhaps an SSD for added performance.
Pros: Great performance, very quiet, cool customizable LED lights, easy to add/upgrade components
Cons: HDD speed/space could be a bit better

This HP OMEN is a fantastic gaming PC, especially for users who don't want to spend the time and effort building their own rig. The NVIDIA 1070 card is a great choice, and together with the Terabyte 7200 RPM drive and the 16GB of DDR4 RAM this PC handled any game I could throw at it.
The case is very slick, and the color-changing LED panel on the front is sexy. There is plenty of room for additional drives and RAM. My only upgrade for this unit would possibly be an SSD drive - and HP does sell other OMEN units that come with a SSD drive.
One potential downside - there are not a lot of audio output options, but with most gamers using USB headsets these days, that is kind of a moot point.
There is some HP software built-in that you may not need, but it didn't seem to affect the performance at all.
All-in-all, this a great pre-configured gaming PC at a great price.

Awesome Gaming Power, Low Price

The HP Omen Desktop 870-244 provides an incredible amount of power from the 7th generation Intel Core i7 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. As you can see with the pictures in this review, there is also a lot of expandability within the case of this PC for additional drives. There is room for several additional hard drives or SATA based solid state drives. Unfortunately, there isn't room for adding additional PCIe cards into the PC given the PC case design is quite compact and the NVIDIA GTX 1070 is a full size very powerful graphics card. That said however, there really isn't anything else you would need to add as HP has provided a very capable PC for gaming or writing the occasional paper for high school or college. One really nice feature is that the 16GB of memory came in two DIMM's, leaving another two memory slots free if you'd like to expand the memory to 32GB. This is an incredible amount of compute power with the Intel Core i7 and graphics power with the NVIDIA GeForce 1070.

A Bad OMEN... For Your Games!

I have been out of the gaming PC world for about a decade but I used to build, tear apart, upgrade, tweak, mod, overclock computers for years beforehand. It just got too hard (and expensive) to keep chasing that ever moving goalpost. I moved to console gaming for ease of use but always had that itch to get back in the game (both literally and figuratively). It made it easier to move away since my main genre was flight/space sims and those went away for quite some time though they have roared back to life and that has what has been calling me back.
I toyed with the idea of getting one of those small form factor PCs that you can hook into your TV since I have become used to my TV/XBox combo but the old computer geek in me craved a big case that would give me more power and room to grow.
The HP Omen is a phenomenal gaming rig, especially for the price. The latest gen Intel i7-7700 processor, combined with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 card with 8GB of GDDR5 memory dedicated makes this computer a force to be reckoned with. Is it absolutely top spec? No, it isn't the latest or greatest card and there is only one of them, and you can ALWAYS have more RAM but despite that, this is a great machine.
Another thing I appreciate about the OMEN is that it is nicely put together inside. Cabling is nice, everything has plenty of room to breathe, and there are bays galore for upgrades down the road (like next week). Also, it is nicely designed on the outside with a simple but classy chassis (wow, that was almost poetic). I really like the port panel on the top of the machine with 4 USB ports, a headphone jack, and the SD card reader all within easy reach. You also have a ton of options for monitor connections (DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI) and I have tried out the OMEN both with an HDMI connection to a 4K TV as well as the G-SYNC monitor it will stay plug into via DisplayPort. Both are outstanding but the computer really shines with a G-Sync monitor.
I got this computer because it hit all of the recommended (not minimum) specs for X-Plane 11 and for its certification for use with all the VR systems out there. I'm dying to try out Elite: Dangerous in VR and I hoped to be able to test out the OMEN with a buddy's VR rig but he lent it to someone else for the weekend. All of the games I have loaded up have been absolutely butter smooth on this computer and I'm looking forward to really pushing this thing to the limits with X-Plane once I buy a HOTAS set-up with pedals.
If you are looking for a great gaming computer that gives you a ton of headroom to grow this is a great choice. I'm going to add in a SSD drive this weekend and move over the operating system over to it and reserve the 7200 RPM drive for game data. With how well this thing is set up, I expect that to be a very easy job. Maybe when I find the OMEN's limits I might add another GTX 1070 in SLI configuration, I hear the new SLI bridges are nice.
Since I am limited to two pictures for this review (really, Best Buy doesn't have the bandwidth to host more?), I'm going to share pictures of the inside of the machine and the back ports since that is what I want to see and often is not shown on the website.

For me, this purchase of this desktop was the culmination of several years of endeavors to do one thing: Run Fallout 4 at ultra. To be sure I'm enjoying many other benifits, but for me, a single game was what spurred me on.
Until recently I was dealing with my little franken machine, it'd started life a refurb hp office mini tower, month by month upgraded to within an inch of it's life. For what it was I'd managed to turn it into a respectable machine for gaming, but the nature of it's motherboard, it's age, and it's limited internal space meant I'd gone as far as I could. Unfortunately this coincided with the crypto mining boom.
To be frank, at current prices the cpu and gpu in this thing alone would fetch about 900ish, maybe a bit less, maybe a bit more, So there's already value there, a solid 16 gigs of ddr 4 and a 7200 rpm terabyte drive weren't bad either. To be sure the lack of a ssd hurts, but in my case, I transfered to the two I had in my old machine and now am sitting with 750gigs of ssd and a terabyte of data storage on the original drive. And I'm nailing Fallout 4 to the wall, so you know I'm happy.
The Pros:
Right now you probably couldn't build this machine for cheaper
The case is nice
2 usb 3 ports up top
Haven't had any heat issues at this time
The Cons:
The inside is a bit messy, the cable management is abysmal, and there is a...gpu cage thing giving it extra support that makes getting to alot of things, including the sata ports, a bit of a pain. I'm used to working in a mini atx so it's not that bad for me but It seems like the lack of a side window made the designers not give a fig.
The lack of a ssd hurts a bit, but they are cheap enough for it to be easily fixed. Still, when you're dishing out this much money it's a glaring omission.
Overall this computer does exactly what I want it to do, run Fallout 4 on ultra at 60 fps. It also runs all my others games on ultra. It also doesn't sound like a turbine engine spinning up when it does it, and, dodgy interior aside, there is room for some upgrades going forward to enhance it's longevity. I'd reccomend this to anyone who wants to do moderate to high end gaming on a budget.

This HP Omen is the ideal gaming PC for someone who does not want to take the time and custom design their own. With factory specs that rival many custom end PCs right out of the box, and at a very affordable price for the high end components included, this HP Omen is a great option for anyone who is interested in PC Gaming.
The computer is loaded with minimal 'bloatware', and the 1TB hard drive offers plenty of room for game installations. When tested running Battlefield 4, a game that requires a high end PC to function, it performed flawlessly with all the settings set to "Ultra" quality (screenshot included). In many other games tested, the computer ran the games at the highest quality at a smooth 60 frames per second. Outside of gaming, the PC is also extraordinarily fast and offers a great experience with no freezing up, as one should expect with a PC as high end as this.
As for the unique features of this Omen product itself, it includes a neat lightbar on the front that can be programmed by the user to change according to CPU Temperature, Usage, or just a random color sequence.
Overall, this computer is an absolutely great choice for anyone interested in buying a high end gaming PC directly from a reputable manufacturer without having to worry about custom builds, part compatability, etc. It is a great choice all around at an affordable price point.

HP OMEN is an excellent gaming PC came with i7-7700 Intel 7th generation processor coupled with 16GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD (No SSD), latest wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2 and amazing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with dedicated 8GB GDDR5 memory graphics card. This PC handled almost all games without any glitch.
The case is very slick and i love the color changing LED panel and it is treat to watch. Inside there is plenty of room for additional drives and RAM. One really nice feature is that the 16GB of memory came in two DIMM's, leaving another two memory slots free if you'd like to expand the memory to 32GB.
GTX 1070 is amazing graphics card and worth at least $400 itself. It comes with three DisplayPort ports and one HDMI port. I was able to use my ASUS 32" 4K monitor to pair up with the PC, I must admit that the graphics are simply superb.
I had existing PC Lenovo P900 (with GTX 980) and i must admit that this PC exceeded expectations with processer and graphics performance at least 40% margin without SSD.
I am using this as HTPC also connected with Epson 5030UB projector with Plex Media Server, Kodi and CyberLink Power DVD setup. Due to high end graphics card, the picture quality is really crystal clear on big screen for Blu-ray Discs and 4K videos.
On the complaints side, the included HP-branded mouse and keyboard are extremely cheap, and the keyboard is so bad that I had to replace it with my existing gaming keyboard. If you can replace the keyboard and mouse with your own, this PC is a really good for gaming or HTPC.
My other complaint on this unit came with 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive and there is no SSD. My only upgrade is putting a SSD drive and this PC will serve for a long time for my gaming needs.
All-in-all, this a great pre-configured gaming PC at a great price.
