Quintin Tarantino‘s movies are so creative, the man is a genius . Pulp fiction, inglorious bstrds, hateful
8, and now once upon a time in Hollywood, are of his best. I wish they would let his movies be 4 hours long I would gladly sit through every minute, but they edit him down to acceptable movie theater length.
I would love to see one of his movies in full length as he intends before all the editing.
I love the Marvel universe and the Star Wars stuff, but thank God for people like Tarantino who also give us thrill rides where we have no idea what is going to happen next. This is truly the spice in film viewing pleasure.

This homage to Hollywood, circa 1969, will disappoint many Tarantino fans. While it DOES end with a BANG, it's NOT your typical "shoot 'em up" (or "slice 'em up") flick. BUT, I don't think I have seen anything coming close to capturing Hollywood and movies in '69. From the sets, to the cars, to the music AND commercials, you ARE watching 1969. Those who love movies should enjoy this. The pace is a bit slow, but if you hang in there, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the ending. NO, it's NOT reality, but isn't Hollywood about portraying fantasies?

This is a return to form after the somewhat disappointing The Hateful Eight! A tribute to the final days of the golden age of Hollywood, this movie showcases an outstanding performance by Leonardo DiCaprio. If he doesn't get the Oscar for best actor in a leading role for this, I'll be very surprised. All the actors in this do a good job but DiCaprio steals the show completely. Every once in a while you will see a performance by an actor in a movie that you remember for the rest of your life and DiCaprio's performance in this is one of them.

This is one of the finest works Tarantino has ever put to celluloid. There is just pure joy in watching this story unfold in front of your eyes and it takes you back to a time where it feels that the world was still an innocent place and a safe place. Even though I have never lived through the 60s or the 70s or in the U.S. for that matter but still,I could feel that time period so perfectly captured and I really got lost in that fantasy, the land of ambition and the dreamers, even though it was for a brief moment but it was beautiful. There are so many period films being made but rarely one that really takes you back in time and reminds you of the magic of movies.Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a fantastical take on reality.
This is a very different Tarantino film. It's a very mature film from Tarantino and feels very personal in so many ways. It has minimal use of Tarantino trademarks including violence,action,non-linear storyline, dialogues. The film has all these Tarantino trademarks but in a much more constrained way. He is not trying to go over-the-top here like his previous films. Instead of going for plot heavy narrative,he ties this film with these interesting characters whose actions drive the narrative. These characters are some of the best written characters by the aueter especially the duo,Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton. Both are brilliantly written characters and majority of the reason they are so good is because of the brilliant performances by Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. It was a dream to watch them both just do what they do best giving some of the best performance of their respective careers. Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate is very calming.
What I most liked about the film, apart from these well nuanced characters,is that throughout the film there is always contrast at play. We can never feel one thing at a time. Almost everything can be seen from different perspectives. For instance, the trailer breakdown scene on the set of Lancer can be viewed differently. When I first saw the movie, I thought it was quite funny. But on my second viewing, a feeling of gloominess had cast over me. Also,The details of the period setting of the film is such a highlight. Every little detail is paid attention to.
The soundtrack of the film was one of the best soundtracks I have heard and also one of the best of Tarantino. Almost all the songs were used very well to suit the narrative. The 'Out Of Time' sequence was so perfectly used indicating so many things for different people. I personally loved 'Twelve Thirty' at the end of the film. It was unnerving, the way it was cut to the scene. The end credits cue was haunting, melancholic and sweet all at the same time.
The ending belongs to Brad Pitt. He nailed it.I don't want to spoil the ending instead I just want to say that it's one of the most exciting, suspenseful, hilarious, audacious and brilliant ending sequence you will ever experience. In the end,I just want to say that its all about the perspective. It all depends on how you view and that's such a great thing to have in a film. The film is about the buddy relationship and the chemistry between the actor-stuntman or the film is about the changing times of Hollywood with the backdrop of the Manson murders. The film is about nothing, the film is about everything. The film is the least Tarantinoesque endeavor and the film is the most Tarantinoesque by the end. As for me,its my favorite film of the year.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is an incredible Installment in Tarantino’s filmography, so from that standpoint alone, this is a must own for any film collector.
What puts this set over the top is the crystal clear picture of the 4K presentation of the film, couple with the perfect Dolby 5.1 soundmix and the special features. This set also includes a free digital copy.
This is a wholly enjoyable film with fantastic extras to make it a must-have for everyone!

One of my favorite's from Tarantino! It's cleverly edited together in a classic Tarantino style where the story is non-linear and revealed slowly throughout the film. The acting is amazing, the characters are fun and likeable, and the writing is overall hysterical and intriguing. It's a fantastic portrayal of the time period and place that the movie is really about, and I recommend it to any movie goer whether your a fan of Tarantino's or not.

This is probably my second favorite Quentin Tarantino film (“Pulp Fiction” still holds the number one spot) and it is a joy to watch. Tarantino’s love letter to Hollywood is filled with signature Tarantino characters that you love to follow and all of the clever dialogue that you could ask for. There’s also plenty of violence with plenty of the twists and turns that you would come to expect from Tarantino!

This movie is among my top 10 of this year! I'm happy this got a very handsome steelbook case, and I did not hesitate to order this one. The blu ray picture and sound are really good all around. I've yet to see the extras but thankfully there's a neat little platter there.
The reason for the 4-star review is that it's a pity that I could only get the Steelbook by getting the set with 4k. I'm sure the UHD picture looks nice, but it would've been nice to be able to get just the blu-ray with the Steelbook. All in all, I still don't regret getting this!

Tarantino, as director, shows his love for everything about the late 1960s Hollywood culture: the cars, the swagger, the miniskirts. Additionally, this seems to be a realistic presentation of life in Hollywood at that time. The tentative existence of many in that Hollywood gets a lot of attention, especially as convincingly portrayed by Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Tarantino has done it again, this movie is brilliantly fantastic. Now don't expect anything to crazy as this is mostly a hangout film, but some how Tarantino makes it work and entertainmenting. The steelbook itself is truly beautiful, love the choice of color, and the overall feel and finish to it. Definitely recommend this movie and steel for a y tarantino fan.

A unique flick that tells a story themed after Charles Manson killings. Brad Pitt knocked it out of the park here, I personally found his character very likable. I think personally in the era of super hero movies that we need more flicks like this. Like I said a cool and unique movie.

A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a new next-door neighbor, who may be a rising star…Sharon Tate.

So many things are great about this film. One it is an homage to late sixties spaghetti westerns. Secondly it takes place in the backdrop of the activities of the Manson family which adds a dark undertone to the film. The cast is great and fully engaging dialogue. If you love Tarantino's intensity, smart writing and violence this will hit the mark.

It's Tarantino. Most are going to love him, but I understand if he's just not your thing. I go back and forth honestly, and I found this entry in his supposed "Ten Movie Limit" to be quite good.
It's an actors movie, through and through. And it's great to see Leo and Pitt show their chops. Margot doesn't get much to do, but is still a nice addition.
Check it out, you'll surely be entertained, but honestly not sure if it's worth buying at such a steep price. Wait for it to go down a bit.

I've been trying for over a week now to figure out exactly why Once Upon a Time in...Hollywood, the latest opus from auteur Quentin Tarantino, hit me the way it did. As someone who's never visited California or more specifically, Hollywood, and as someone who wasn't born until nearly two decades after the year in which the film takes place there were no personal nostalgic ties to what is very clearly a very nostalgic movie for its writer and director. I love the movies as in "the movies", sure, both for their fascinating behind the scenes processes as well as certain aspects of the business and I adore the idea of crafting this love letter to a bygone era that, in many ways, is reoccurring at this very moment even if the players are very different in the similarly circumstanced game. Any piece of work that provides insight into any aspect or era of the movie business is typically something I'm game for, granted, but even my affinity for films and television shows produced in the late fifties through to the end of the sixties is low and wouldn't justify the instinctively adoring reaction these impossibly detailed re-creations of such receive and no doubt deserve. There is plenty to like and appreciate within the massive two hour and forty-minute runtime Tarantino has assembled with his latest, but it is difficult to pinpoint what exactly it is that occurs within those (nearly) three hours that not only made me long once more for days consisting of more innocence, but also genuinely made me love what I was watching and want to remain in this world he was enchanting us with. After a week of mulling over the film though, of continuing to go back to certain scenes, countless performance moments and a hundred other facets I hadn't yet considered day after day the bigger picture came to be that it wasn't necessarily any one thing in what will from now on be referred to as OUaTiH, but more it was the effect each of these elements had on one another; the meticulous re-creation of 1969 informed and enhanced the performances of these fictional characters which were in turn heightened in the context of the film by the real-life events that Tarantino weaved through his narrative so as to create a sense of familiarity while still holding tight to the destination he's driving towards. Ultimately, this stands as one of Tarantino's best, most introspective works as it delivers the feeling one wants to leave the theater with after having experienced a Tarantino flick while the experience in and of itself is something of an unexpected and surprisingly soulful one.

This is a "Inside Hollywood" type movie with great dialog between the Actors. Quentin Tarantino has done a excellent job of writing the script and Directing the movie, I would not be surprised if he pick up two Oscars for this work. This movie is really for the 14 year old and up crowd due to the content of this movie.

Great Movie and a real reflection of American culture in those glory days. If your not watching this movie with some coke (drink or powder) and a big bucket of popcorn then I dare say your not truly living the classic dream sewed by our forefathers at all.
