A projector this good should be more expensive. There is no 4K tv as big as my living room wall, and if there is, it’s most likely the price of a car. Excellent brightness even with lights on and in sunlight. Optoma has never let me down. It even color balances to your wall. You don’t need a pure white wall. Had a discussion with a friend that bragged about the size and how thin his tv was. An awkward discussion to walk into I’m sure. I replied with, “my screen can be as big as a wall and how much you wanna bet my screen is thinner”. The built in speaker is good but I suggest get a sound bar.

I was on the market for a 4K projector and it was my first time buying a projector. I went for the BenQ HT2550 at first but it didn’t deliver a good picture for me. It was like a better version of 1080p. I saw a comparison video on YouTube between the UHD50 vs the BenQ HT2550 since I had the BenQ previously I knew what the guy was talking about a bit. The Optoma is sharper and it is cheaper. I just miss the 3D but it’s not a need for me.

There are not many 4k projectors around this price point and the HDR compatibility is a plus. I have mine hooked up to an Xbox One X and its looks great! It could be a bit brighter and have a better contrast for dark scenes but those are minor gripes. If that is a major turnoff you could opt for the UHD60 which is brighter and has better contrast but is a bit more expensive. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend to others.

I think the picture on this projector is very crisp. The brightness is lacking. I've got this set up in my basement (blinds on window) and the picture fades out during the daytime. At night the picture is amazing. I bought a 150' ALR screen and some felt tape for contrast. The picture during the daytime is noticeably better. Still, I kinda wish I bought a 1080p projector that was 3000+ lumens. I have an older Epson that looks good day and night but isnt near as sharp as the Optoma.

When I purchase a projector or TV, my number one concern is picture quality. While having various extra features are nice, if a projector or TV doesn't have a sharp and true-to-life picture, what's the point. With that thought in mind, I wanted to replace my entertainment room's old HD projector with a 4K projector that wouldn't break the bank. So I took a chance and ordered the Optoma UHD50 4K DLP Projector as soon as it was released. To make a long story short, I set it up and the picture quality is more than I hoped for. The blacks are black, and the colors are vibrant but not over powering. I never owned a DLP projector before, so was a little concerned about what people call the "rainbow effect." But to date, this is not something that I have observed at all. I have been watching a combination of digital air TV which I stream through my house, as well as streaming services, some with 4K programming. After just a week or so with the UHD50, it would be difficult to go back to my old set up. In short, the UHD50 has a great picture and I am very happy with my purchase.

I have about 100 hours on the projector and I could not be happier. The 4k image is very sharp on my $200 projector screen. It is the most quite projector I have ever owned and has the best color. I have owned a few Epson and some early model Optoma projectors and the Optoma projectors are the best by far.

Great projector, the 4K is great. Even in well lit areas, it still looks pretty good, but recommend in an area where there isn't as much light to really appreciate the incredible picture it broadcasts. I waited about 6 months to write review to make sure no issues and I haven't ran into any.

From my experience, this appears to be a true 4k projector. At a price of less than $1,500, you can't beat it.

I built a home theater in a room with no windows. I started out with a very high end 1080p projector on a 100" screen. I noticed color was ok and I could see the pixels on the screen.
I spent about 2 months researching projectors and was concerned about buying one without seeing it in action, but the UHD50 was one of the most highly reviewed out there and could output in 4k. The price was a concern as I expected the 4k price to be much higher. After installing the projector I was more than content with it. The picture quality exceeded expectations, the pixels were gone on all signal outputs. Overall I am very glad I took the leap and invested in this projector. highly recommended.
Install Note: I had my previous projector 16 feet from the screen and the zoom worked for the 100" screen. With the short throw on this projector, I had to move it forward 26" in order to fit the minimum zoom inside the 100" screen.

I bought this projector 2 years ago and the picture is great minus the dead pixels. At 1.5 years i had one dead pixel and now i have 10. Its out of warranty. Stay away from Optoma and get a brand with a better than one year warranty. I called Optoma and there customer service sucked.

After an intense internet search of which will be my first projector, I went ahead and buy this 4k futuristic machine, that deliver quality for a good price. Easy set up and installlation. I did not tried yet to play any 4K movie, but regular hd is good. I’m using a light gray wall as a screen.

I love my projector. The image quality is great and it has a good set of features for the price. Getting it setup was a little work, but now that it’s over I can sit back, relax and watch movies in my own theatre.

So far I'm happy with the projector. Image quality is great but I've lost signal a few times. Could be the HDMI cable
