I originally purchased the UHD50 and I wasn't blown away. I returned it and swapped for the UHD50A and I'm well pleased. The picture quality is much more defined, consistent, and worth every dollar. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to connect to Alexa which comes with the projector. It's difficult at this point. I connected the firecube which gives a much better picture than the firestick and has the built in Alexa which serves the same purpose so it's fine. Also, this shows well during the day which was to my surprise being that we don't have any blackout curtains up just yet. I love it!

The projector has a great 4k image and HDR looks pretty sweet after you dial it in. Downside is not very bright for well-lit room. HDR might not work for future streaming which will blow, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it now.

Its a very good projector for dark room projection and 4k clarity and color accuracy. Placement needs to be accurate in center of screen for lack of adjustment.
One of the reason i bought this over benq 2550 was its capability to return sound stream via optical output. But realized later after buying and trying a lot that sound output is only 2 channel. So i can stream 4k via roku plugged to projector but cannot get 5.1 or 7.1 to my hometheatre. And same applies to anything playing directly on projector. Wish it could return atleast 5.1. Found ways around to make things work but would have not spent extra over benq 2550 if I had known sound issues. With sound field leveled this and benq seems similar in picture quality just the later at lower price.

No real adjustments

Customer service at Optoma is not good at all. No real adjustments can be made. As per customer service projector needs to be installed at the top of the screen. Which is how I have my projector installed but I have to basically point projector to the ceiling to get picture on screen. Which cause need for keystone correction, a setting this projector doesn’t have. It does not store the little settings it does have, they reset every time you turn off projector. It does look crisp once you are able to get it on your screen and able to live with slight unsquared projection.

Initially I didn't know anything about optoma..as I never heard about this brand before but after getting this projector I was stunned with the quality and it also supports hdr and works with alexa as well...great product I have been using this for the past few months and it is a charm...

For the cost, this is a great projector. I have ceiling mounted it, and it works well. I wish it had a keystone to allow more offset onto the screen, but I have gotten used to a higher picture. Fan sound is much quieter than my old projector. Only issue I have is there is a bit too much red in faces, but I am sure that is just picture tuning.

Bought this to replace my Optoma HD33. As much as I like the price point and the quality of picture it projects, it has HDMI stability issues with 4k HDR movies. It does well upscaling Blu-ray to 4k, except HDR. Frequent skips and re-handshaking is frustrating sometimes. Hopefully there will be a firmware update. I paired with Sony UBP-x700 and 800, LG ubk90 and samsung m9500 with same results. Only happens on HDR.

Best Buy didn’t carry this projector in stock. We had to order it. I waited over a week to get it in and then when we hooked it up the remote was glitchy at first and then didn’t work at all. This was important that it worked because our projector is ceiling mounted. So we packed it up and took it back. They tried to offer us a replacement remote with no guarantee that the remote was actually the issue. So we had them return this to the manufacturer and get us a replacement. The second go round we were able to get a fully functioning projector and we love it. We don’t use it to it’s full capability but for our little home theater I am more than satisfied.

Great picture with smooth motion. No lense shift which makes centering critical. Voice command not worth bothering with.

The quality is good. Easy to setup. The red is too saturated using the standard settings. Also, I wish the projector had a smart tv function, but we’ll get it from one of the accessories instead.

First Projector

Yes this is my first projector so I have nothing but an tv to compare this to. Picture quality, the colors are very nice, I didn’t have a need to adjust any colors, I set the projector lamp to dynamic black and eco mode otherwise. Reds are very red so that could be adjusted down a bit. Brightness, this is the only area of concern if you have a living room like me, it’s not made to be used with windows open or lights on, so be prepared to pull the drapes or control lights to get best picture. 4k HDR is very clear, colors look good, I wish it had a little more pop in brightness, however I could try to make some settings adjustments, but that’s just me. The great thing about this projector is 4k ability, 3D, and the ability to project an 135 inch plus image with only 12 to 13 ft btw the screen. I would have given higher but like I said d I have not seen another 4k projector,

Awesome Projector

This is my first projector I have ever owned, but I have spent time in front of other projectors at friends and families homes. After 2 months of use, the picture is clear as can be and the color range is very good. I play PS4 on it quite often and can only notice a very small amount of latency (I am used to playing games on PC at 1ms latency, so this is impressive).
The projector looks good even during the daylight with only blinds over the windows (I have a lot of windows and a ton of light gets in during the day).
My only disappointment in the projector was that the main selling point was that it works with Alexa. While this is true, the projector will only work with Alexa while it is ON. If the projector is powered off, Alexa cannot communicate with the projector to turn it on. That is a small complaint, but it is not expected functionality to say the least. That being my only complaint, that should be a pretty good indication of how good this projector really is. 100% recommended.

Bought this on sale and for the price its good. Specs aren't great for original price tag.
I use Sony 4K 7.1 receiver with a 5.1 surround system and the combination worked well for me.
Pros:
4K and 3D. Sharp and clear.
Low fan noise.
Back lit remote.
Vertical lens shift.
Alexa / Google Voice support.
Cons:
Not brighter for 2400 lumens in partially lit room. Room must be dark.
3" Light bleed around the picture bothers initially and may not notice when you get used to it.
Attaching Lens cap makes the zoom lens move so refocus required everytime.
EZCast setup is tricky and doesn't cast youtube videos from mobile app.
Speakers aren't good for movies. Need a receiver and surround sound.
