    Great Little Cam

This is a great little cam and easy to install. It allows to me monitor all the most important places outside, such as my front door, may gate, and my car when it's parked in the drive. It gives you a clear view and it's great for the price. I can monitor my dog when I'm not home and can even talk to him. Best of all, it works great at night. You won't beat it for the price.

2K Update to the solid Stick Up Cam

The Outdoor Cam Plus is a 2K resolution upgrade to the venerable Stick Up Cam from Ring. Ring looks like it is updating its entire line-up of cameras from 1080p to 2K and higher and the upgrade is much needed, especially if you wanted to capture finer details like facial features outside. Competitor products have been on 2K for years and even 4K so the upgrades are much needed. Where Ring really shines however is how easy it is to add and upgrade within the ecosystem. With a Ring Paid plan, you can add as many devices as you want to your plan for the same bundle pricing. I' on the Standard plan and have been for years and I don't really think about it because of the convenience of not having to worry about storage or having home networked storage, even though I do have a nice NAS unit, I can just access everything from the cloud. It also provides for 10% off many products at Ring.com and extends the warranty for any devices you add while you are on a paid plan. I've used all of these perks at one point or another and Ring has also been very good about giving credit/discounts if a device failed to purchase a new Ring device. As for the Outdoor Cam Plus, I chose the battery/wireless version for a number of reasons and its really useful in some of the following use-cases: 1. I plan to put this camera in the Playroom to watch my young children when I'm around the corner cooking or not within line of sight. My kids tend to get at cables and pull on them which is a hazard if I don't secure them with wall conduits but that is ugly and often requires patching later. I also have to mount the cameras into the walls. Its a lot of unsightly stuff on my walls to just keep an eye on them. Baby monitors work too but they are standalone devices I don't want to deal with anymore. The Outdoor Cam Plus is perfect because I can just mount the camera high and just swap the battery. So far it looks like I'll get about 3-4 weeks out of a single full charge, but that really depends on how much you trigger the motion sensors, how much live view you do etc. There's also some settings on the Camera settings in the App that can help conserve power. Still, I can charge it and be back up and running in about 3 hours. 2. With the extra Solar charging panel, you can theoretically put this camera in some crazy places and never have to replace the battery. The solar charging kit is extra but still reasonably priced, but this can allow you to connect to the top of your houses' eave, attic, a tree, a tree house or anything else high that has good sunlight and WiFi to literally give you a birds-eye view of your property. Very useful! 3. Parts of your property that don't have power, like a tool shed or property border, you can use this camera in either battery mode or battery + solar mode. Very useful. Set-up like all Ring products is a breeze. You just scan the QR code on the instructions or the back of the camera, tell it where and how you plan to use it and you're quickly connected. One of the most seamless onboarding processes for IoT devices around. I did run into an issue trying to add the Camera before the actual release date of 3/26/2025, but that was a temporary block placed by Amazon/Ring that resolved on release day. Also, if you plan to install the Camera indoors to look out a window, make sure to set it up that way in the Camera settings. The IR lights will cast a bad reflection that glares out everything so you can't see out the window. Also, make sure it is darker inside than outside, or you will just get a window reflection. Another great Ring product and upgrade to my system. I'll likely add the solar kit and put this camera outside once my kids are old enough to not need monitoring, maybe near the street and mailbox so I can catch some of the dog owners who don't clean up after their dogs....

This is Ring's Best Outdoor Camera to Date

Ring Outdoor Cam Plus is the newest and greatest of Ring’s outdoor “stick up cam” line of cameras. If you’re familiar with the line already, all you need to know is that this is an upgrade in every way. If you’re not familiar with Ring cameras or want to know more, read on! These are online based security cameras, and you’ll need both a solid Wi-Fi connection and power to make work. This camera is their outdoor camera with a battery, although you can still use it indoors if you’d like. Battery life is going to depend heavily on settings for the camera, how often it records, and how often you’re viewing livestreams. I find the battery convenient for placement in areas where a power connection isn’t ideal, but I also have extra batteries ready to go when I need to swap out. Be aware that the batteries are still charging slowly via the old micro-USB standard and that takes the better part of a day/overnight to charge. You can convert battery power to hard wired plug-in or add a solar charger with additional purchases. Most of my cameras are good for a around 3-5 weeks, but it remains to be seen if the higher video quality of this new Outdoor Cam Plus affects things. The other important thing to know right off the bat is the Ring subscription service. You are not required to pay any subscription fees; however, you only will have access to real-time events. That is to say you receive notifications and view live events as they’re happening. If you want to view recorded videos, save or share them, you need a subscription. There are several types of subscriptions monthly and annually based off of the types of services and Ring products you may have. At the time of this writing, the standard plan for multiple cameras is $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr. I have a total of five cameras, so I do not mind paying for this. To the best of my knowledge, nearly all camera systems similar to this have their own subscription services. There is a trial that is included in the purchase of this camera. In the box, you have the camera fully assembled, one battery pack, USB cable (A to micro), some basic documentation, and basic mounting hardware. Set up required your Ring app on your phone, with a Ring account. You do need to charge the battery first, which does take some time. After that, you scan the QR code on the camera itself with your phone and it walks you through all the steps of setting up, adjusting settings, firmware updates, and even how to mount the camera. The camera can be freestanding or mounted on a wall or ceiling. Overall, the initial setup took maybe 10 minutes after the battery was charged. Diving into the features, the biggest thing to note here is the 2K video quality. This quality is very noticeable and makes my other cameras look outdated in comparison. There is also a larger field of view for the camera. And a feature that I think is important in 2025 with modern networking, the ability to use both 2.5GHz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi connections. These are all improvements over the now slightly older version and all, in my opinion, worthwhile updates. Also worth noting is the camera has a siren that can be activated from your app, as well as two-way talk with noise cancellation, so you can communicate with whomever is on the other side of the camera. Regarding my opinion, let me say that we’re already a Ring household, with a doorbell, indoor, and outdoor cameras already. I’m not versed enough to compare the Ring ecosystem to other camera ecosystems, but I will say that my partner and I are both happy with the ring service and paying the subscription fee. That subscription fee, of course, becomes more worthwhile the more cameras you have. I do have the ability to compare it to the now older Ring Stick Up Cam/Outdoor Cam. I will say that I do not have any issues with that existing camera. However, the Outdoor Cam Plus is just an improvement to that camera in every regard. While at the heart it’s the same set of camera features, the added clarity of 2k video, wider field of view, and better WiFi support make this an easy recommendation to me. It’s everything we’re happy with in our current camera, but better. It’s really that simple. If you’re in the market for a security camera, I think the Outdoor Cam Plus is a great entry into seeing if you’d like this type of system. No, it’s not the cheapest camera out there, but I think the price for the features, both on the camera itself and with the Ring software on your phone, are worth it. With this camera, you can move it around outdoors, use it indoors, and get a feel for what you may want to see out of additional security cameras. I would recommend this as the camera from Ring people try out first.

What’s in the box: • Ring Outdoor Cam Plus with rechargeable battery pack • Mounting bracket • Mounting hardware • Charge cable Setup: There aren’t really any instructions included. There is a QR code to download the app. The tiny sheet that has the QR code instructs you to take the battery pack out and charge it. You will also need to take the battery out to get the contact shield off. To do that, press the metal tab toward the battery and it will slip out of the case. If you follow the instructions and use the charge port on the battery pack, you will be greatly disappointed to see that the port is a mini USB and not USB-C. All is not lost though. On the back side of the camera case, just above the serial number, there is a little plastic plug. Pull the plug out and you will see an externally accessible USB-C charging port. Yeah! Pair this with a small solar panel and you have the best of both worlds. Things went downhill for a bit when I tried to add the Outdoor Cam Plus to my existing ring app. I selected setup a device from my dashboard. Then I selected security cams, then “I’m Ready to Scan”, I scanned the QR code and got a prompt to update the Ring app. I tried. My app store said it was already up to date. I tried to install the device again. Same thing. So, I restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the Ring app. Same thing again. After about five tries the camera announced it was set up and ready. But it still did not show up in the app and the app was still in that "you have to update before we can go on" loop. But it was working with Alexa, even though Alexa says it has to be in the Ring app first. I could live-view the camera with Alexa, but still could not access it from the Ring app. After about an hour, the new camera suddenly appeared in my Ring app. This was frustrating. But it did eventually work. However, it still did not show up in my SO’s Ring app. I later found that I had to log into my Ring account (not just the app) and click a radio button allowing the SO access to the new device. Pro tip, check there before the SO gets upset. Pros: • It’s battery operated so no wiring is needed and it will work with a solar panel. • It can be placed pretty much anywhere that it gets a WiFi signal. • It can be mounted multiple ways. • The video is sharp and clear • It works well in low light • It works with Alexa Cons: • The Ring app is really bad. I’m not exactly sure how I finally got it to work. (I started to downgrade the rating due to the app. But decided the camera is fine and I’m not rating the app here.) • You are pretty much out of luck setting it up if the app doesn’t work. There are essentially no instructions outside of the process built into the app. • To get the most out of the camera you need a subscription. However, if you already have a subscription covering multiple Ring devices, you can just add this one without additional costs. Summary: It’s a nice camera. While it exceeded my patience level getting the app to recognize it, it all works very well now. If you need a camera that can be placed just about anywhere and you already have Ring devices, check this one out.

General Impression Ring is definitely one of the most recognizable brands for security camera systems out there so expectations are quite high. This outdoor security camera safely meets such expectations. The design, features, app and quality of the video justify the assessment. Build quality and design The camera is quite robust and appears able to withstand the weather. The product is intended for both indoor and outdoor use. The mount is adjustable to multiple positions. I wish that the mount or the base of the camera were magnetic but that’s not the case. Installation Installation is just like any other outdoor camera. The good thing is it doesn’t require wiring as the camera gets power from its own battery. Setting up the camera for the first time is intuitive enough and the process was smooth. The drill screws that it came with were a bit too long and I would prefer them shorter, especially when the installation guide says that drilling should be done manually by hand. Video Quality and Features Video quality is excellent, and the camera came packed with features including cloud video storage and access, zoning system, siren/ alert and smart responses that let your camera greet visitors when you’re not available. I have the camera installed overlooking my garage, and the camera can handle complex lighting conditions really well. There is a plethora of accessories for the camera, so you’re buying into a great ecosystem. The camera can also be easily integrated into your Amazon smart home solutions. Gone are the days when you don’t really have to subscribe to access your video from the cloud. Ring is actually the pioneer of a subscription-based system. So, it’s no wonder that their pricing structure seems to cater to everyone’s needs. The standard subscription cost competes with other security camera solutions. Even the most basic subscription cost offers good value, but the benefits only apply to a single camera. The highest subscription tier, which is double the cost of standard, gives you 24/7 recording. App The user interface and app experience are excellent. Both the Android and iOS versions are equally solid. Notification systems are very good and responsive, and users can report potential threat through the app to Ring users’ community in your neighborhood. You will periodically receive similar notifications from people who live miles away from you, as well. Conclusion Can’t go wrong with this security camera system. The video quality, features, app performance and overall Ring and smart home ecosystem are just great. Like: Video quality Notifications system Simple user interface and menu access in the app Ecosystem and integration with smart home systems Multiple subscription options Don’t like: Installation takes time as it requires you to drill the hole manually. No magnetic mount

The Ring Outdoor Cam Plus is a reliable and effective tool for monitoring activity in and around my home. This camera allows for 2K picture/video quality and it's a very user friendly app that works well on my smartphone. I'm impressed with the easy setup process in the Ring app that walks me through the setup process. The battery operated camera is easy to charge and get started right out of the box. Ring Vision delivers a brilliant 2K color and clarity for easy viewing of what is happening on camera. Having the ability to monitor situations at home/office/retail have been helpful to stay in the loop. The provided mount allows for me to place this easily wherever I would like. I can use this Ring Outdoor Cam Plus simply on its own base and point it in the direction I would like. Just as easily I can wall mount it for added security in certain settings to get an overview of my property. The Ring camera is also weather resistant so even on rainy days I'm able to keep an eye on the property without distortion and worry about keeping my camera dry. Ring offers a lot of additional options and accessories so this can be bundled with items later on down the road. Ring Outdoor Cam Plus comes with Ring Vision, which is touted as True View Components for better clarity and less glare, Clarity Engine to preserve image quality and footage, and Expert Calibration to help ensure outstanding visual performance. A very nice feature I have liked is the Low-Light Sight. This is ideal for scenarios where I'm pointing the camera at doorways or points of entry that have low light or for nighttime areas. This technology gives me Ring 2K detail in dark scenarios, but I get true to life color. This is especially helpful in getting a better visual of a person or vehicle to see the color of a garment, skin tone, or vehicle. The Ring app associated with the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus is great for getting notifications with a visual and audible pop up. Easily able to communicate with the party on camera with live view and 2 way talking ability. The ability to subscribe to a Ring Home Plan is available at different pricing plans suitable to one's needs. I like that I can buy this Ring Outdoor Cam Plus as a standalone item or connect it to the vast array of Ring products to build a security system within the Ring ecosystem. I also like using this Ring Outdoor Cam Plus with my Amazon Alexa devices such as my Echo Dot, and my Fire TV to easily view the camera with an audible command. I think this is a reliable and high quality camera with a trusted brand that works well in both indoor and outdoor settings.

I've had the Cam Plus installed for 5 days now, and doorbells along with a base station around the home, so have had the opportunity to compare it side to side with Ring's latest and greatest. The quality of the camera is the best I've seen so far. While just about any cam can focus on objects half a dozen feet or so in front of it, the ring has excellent clarity and field of view both near and far. In particular I noticed how it reacts at motion. I also have dash cams in my vehicles; in both my home and my cars, when viewing a clip, when you freeze frame a shot you lose clarity. I'm including a shot below of an Amazon delivery driver tossing my package over my front gate. I was able to freeze the package in midair, and still be able to get a good image of the package. In another long shot of my front porch, the detail is clear both at the front and back of the porch. They really packed some performance in this camera. Setup was 1-2-3 quick. Snap a photo of the QR or bar code on the back of the camera, and you're in the app and connected to the web. I currently have my router in mixed mode, I've had devices that barked at the, and only wanted to connect to a dedicated 2.4Ghz line, but had no problem with the Ring. The app has a plethora of choices and settings as to how you want to interact with the device, and what you want to capture, be it all motion, a person, a pet; a package, and what your level of interaction is be it a text notification, image, or clip. The cam plus is mountable in a variety of configurations, there are mounting posts both on the bottom and back sides. Combined with a swivel and hinge mount, it doesn't matter if the location you want it is vertical or horizontal. If I had to nitpick the mount, it's pretty difficult to unsnap the folding portion from the base, I was quite concerned it would snap off in my hands, but it held. As I said, I currently have another security system installed, for the moment I'll be using the Ring as a mobile unit for multiple purposes. I've been placing it in a far corner of my yard that's out of my view, so I can see when the dogs are digging up my plants. I've also used it as a temporary baby cam when the grandkids are over. Given my experience so far, I could see myself migrating my total home security over to a Ring system. It works - well!

As a long-time fan of Ring cameras, I was excited to add the new Ring Outdoor Cam Plus (Battery version) to my growing collection—and let me tell you, it does not disappoint. This little camera is a fantastic addition to the arsenal, bringing with it everything I’ve come to expect from Ring and more. Setup is a breeze. Installation was super straightforward, and the intuitive Ring mobile app made configuring the camera effortless. One of the standout features for me is the customizable motion zones, which allow you to block out areas like neighboring yards or busy streets that would otherwise trigger constant alerts. It's a small but crucial feature that really enhances the usability of the camera. This model is smaller than the Stick-Up Cam Pro, which I actually prefer—its compact footprint makes it less obtrusive when mounted to the side of my house. Despite its smaller size, it delivers impressive clarity with 2K resolution (2560 x 1440). Whether it’s day or night, the footage is crystal clear. Ring has clearly made great strides in low-light and night-vision capabilities, making this one of the best low-light performers I’ve seen from the brand so far. I’ve only had it for about a week, so I can’t speak to the full battery life just yet, but I did charge it out of the box and haven’t had to recharge it since. I’m using it primarily to capture wildlife near the side of my house—not necessarily to monitor people (I hope, but I guess that’s also what it’s for!)—and it’s doing a fantastic job so far. Like all Ring devices, this camera comes packed with features I love: -Two-way talk -Live view -Real-time motion alerts -Weather resistance with an operating range of -4°F to 122°F If you're looking for an easy-to-install, versatile, and reliable security camera for either indoor or outdoor use, the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus (Battery) is a great option. It’s earned its place in my setup, and I’m now just one camera away from achieving my dream of a complete 360-degree Ring-powered view of my home. Highly recommend it!

To start, I have been mainly using Ring cams all around my house (wireless and wired) along side other brands for years now. I just love the ease of use, installation and app controls Ring offers and this new Outdoor Cam Plus is no exception. Included in the box is the Camera itself, rechargeable battery, power cord, mounting hardware and some paperwork to get you started. I installed the cam outside in my yard facing the house and let's me see over half the home and all major entrance points. One major gripe is why Ring refuses to join the current world and switch the batteries to a USB-C port instead of the slower ancient micro USB for charging. Other than that, everything else to me is perfect. Using the app to pair the cam with my account got it up and running in a minute. The included mounting hardware is perfectly fine to attach the cam to a post and face where you want to see. Also since it is outside, I decided to pair this with Ring's solar panel and connect it directly to the back via the USB-C port. The battery constantly charges itself daily back up to 100% so I can have the freedom of never having to worry to walk out there, unscrew the bottom and recharge the battery every so often. After having this cam for about a week, picture quality is excellent. Daytime viewing and recording is great and also can see all major spots clearly, even when zooming in. Nighttime is also great. I am not using nighttime color HDR and find turning that off actually makes the footage a little more clearer and more clear. It loves to catch all the cats and opossums that keep running around my home but the notifications do not bother me. I actually like the sensitivity as is. Also just a side note, we had 2 and a half days of heavy thunderstorms and even hail and the camera took on mother nature like a champ. Quality is superb and no damage was done even after being pelted by hail for about 20 minutes straight. A true outdoor cam.

I have owned a Ring doorbell for several years but this is my first security camera from Amazon/Ring. After using it for nearly a week, I've been very happy with its performance. Pros: - I love the design of this camera, allowing it to just sit straight up on its base if you would like to place it indoors on a shelf, or pivot the base to where it becomes a mount. Everything you need to mount the camera is included in the box. - The integrated siren is a nice feature that allows you to alert would-be intruders that they are being watched. You can turn the siren on and off within the app very easily. - The video quality is fantastic and the field of vision is very impressive. - The value you get for the MSRP is excellent. Being able to keep an eye on your home from anywhere, without requiring a monthly fee, is something I really appreciate. You can subscribe to a monthly plan, however, if you want to be able to store digital content. - This camera was very easy to add to my Ring app. Having access to my doorbell cam and this camera all in one place is extremely convenient and I like the idea of being able to add more devices in the future if I want. Cons: - Within the settings I could not find a way to turn the camera off. It has options to disable motion alerts, but I wish it had an option to just turn the camera off completely. I've had other security cameras with this feature and enjoy having the option if I want to preserve the battery life when the camera is not needed. This camera is a terrific buy and I would recommend it to anyone looking for added security/protection around their home. Just keep in mind you'll need to be within range of a WiFi router in order for it to work.

The ring outdoor cam plus is very easy to install with the included hardware, and set up is a breeze with the app. If you already have other ring devices, this one will easily add to the dashboard so you can see all your videos in ome place. The video quality is great, with up to 2k resolution, giving you a very wide angle of view. The night image is good too. It includes an IR light for night time, with the option of turning it off from the app in case you have the camera facing a window. Since this is an outdoor cam, it is weather resistant. No need to worry about the elements. The two way speaker works clearly and is loud enough to hear when mounted high. The camera is battery operated so the drain will depend on how often you view live video and how often your motion detection settings make it go off. You can customize all this in the app. Typical battery times can generally range from 1 to 6 months, however this is all depending on use and your personal settings. I recommend a solar panel for expected heavier use. Overall, the the ease of installation, the ease of the app, and the video quality make this outdoor cam plus a must recommend.

I really wanna tell you thst this is the camera system you need, because RING is an awesome surveillance camera name. They're a very reliable brand and this outdoor cam battery is a pretty good addition to the RING ecosystem. However, if you aren't already in the ecosystem, with the RING doorbell and maybe even the Spotlight camera system, this isn't a very good jumping off point. The RING app is easy enough to set up and the package does come with everything you need to hang your camera outside (except a drill or screwdriver) but I'm sure that's a given that most housholds would usually have that. There are even ankers to make sure your camera will stay smug in the sheetrock as well. This is a relatively light camera, so it should hang well just about anywhere. When you first open your camera, be sure to take the battery out of the base and throw that bad boy on charge. Now, this brings me to a glaring problem. I opened up the package and pulled out the charging cable, and I was greeted with a micro USB charging cable. That's a huge red flag. This is letting me know that this battery isn't going to last as long or charge as quickly as a battery that is being charged by a type-C connection. Not to mention that this charging cable is itty bitty. Again. If you're in the RING family of surveillance systems, this should go well with what you have already. But if you're not? I feel like there are better and more affordable surveillance options on this website. I like it, but I don't love it. Oh! And yes. It does work well with your Alexa and Google Home systems, but there's still a need for paid assistance if you want to feel fully secure.

In my pursuit of a discreet yet effective outdoor security solution, the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus has proven to be a commendable choice. Its sleek white design integrates seamlessly into various exterior aesthetics, offering both form and function. The camera’s 2K video resolution delivers crisp and detailed footage, enhancing the clarity of surveillance recordings. The Low-Light Sight feature ensures visibility in dim conditions, providing true-to-life color and detail even in near-dark environments . The device’s versatility is noteworthy, with multiple power options including battery, plug-in, and solar, accommodating diverse installation scenarios . Its weather-resistant construction ensures reliable performance across various climates, from -4°F to 122°F . The 160° field of view provides expansive coverage, effectively monitoring larger outdoor areas . Integration with the Ring app facilitates real-time alerts and two-way communication, enhancing the overall security experience. While advanced features such as 24/7 recording and AI-powered video search require a Ring Home Premium subscription , the core functionalities of the camera remain robust and user-friendly. In summary, the Ring Outdoor Cam Plus combines elegant design with reliable performance, serving as a valuable addition to a comprehensive home security system.

Nice addition to my Ring Doorbell

After having the Ring Doorbell and app for a year I decided I wanted to extend my protection to the backyard. The camera was on sale and I had some Best Buy Rewards to spend so I bought 2 of these cameras. The view from these cameras is much better than my doorbell. They are sharper, brighter and the night vision is better all around. So far the batteries have lasted but, I havent had them long enough to see what their full potential is. With the app you can completely customize your view, alerts, motion settings and notifications. You can even listen and speak with these cameras just like the Doorbell. The clarity is much improved over the doorbell that I have. The one drawback is that you will need to get a subscription if you want to record and store the videos. Depending on the number of cameras and features you wan this could get expensive. If you have invested in a Ring Doorbell this is a nice relatively inexpensive option to add more views of your property.

After having another brand starting with the letter A for a few years it was time to upgrade. We first tried the newer A model, but found it did not capture motion unless it was literally in our driveway. Decided to try Ring and it works much better. It captures motion much better and the video is very clear day and night. The only downside versus Brand A is that it does not have smart notifications to the same level (animal, package), and just records person, vehicle or “motion”.

Great camera with exceptional quality. I got this to cover my entire front door for packages. The doorbell cant catch the entire area when packages get dropped off. The ease of the install was pretty straight forward and setup with existing system was just easy. But everything has to have at least 1 drawback or gripe. Mine would be that the battery cover is just a phillips screw, unlike the ring doorbell which has a tamperproof torx screw. This isn't a deal breaker for me just the only thing I could complain about.

Very reasonable priced. Excellent HD wide angle view & night vision clarity better than expected. Microphone & speakers work as advertised. Strong WiFi signal is crucial. Connection to iPhone app was seamless. Battery life so far seems very good. Camera is indeed mounted outdoors in an area with little to no shade, so will see if it lives up to the “outdoor” billing.

We have had the ring doorbell for a couple of years and have been very happy with it. As we moved to a new location our driveway is not visible to us when we are inside. The Ring Outdoor Cam Plus gives a wonderful picture of a very wide driveway all the way to the street. The picture is always crystal clear!! Would recommend it to anyone!

I have alot of ring products. These cameras were to replace older ones. The image quality is way better and I love the wideangle lens. I can see so much more with the newer camera and I also like the built in adjustable mount. I dont have anything bad to say about the product. Would definitely recommend. Transaction and delivery through best buy was smooth and quick
