For the equivalent focal length, this is a very compact lens. Autofocus is very fast. It's very sharp wide open and even better stopped down just a tiny bit, but center to corner sharpness is very good no matter where the aperture is set.
I think it's a little sharper than the Lumix 12-35F2.8. I did some informal testing and the image stabilization appears to be better, and the images tend to be a little sharper with the 12-60.
About the only drawback I can think of is that the aperture is really only F2.8 at 12 mm, and it slows pretty quickly after that as you zoom out. But the lens ( and especially combined with Panasonic's dual is system) can provide sharp images at very slow shutter speeds because the image stabilization system is so effective.
Although the lens is a little bit slower than the 12-35, I use this one more, because it's a much more versatile focal length range, and the improved stabilization compensates for the slightly slower aperture at the long end.
This is also an excellent choice for video and there is minimal focus breathing and it is pretty much parfocal.
This is a professional quality lens and comes highly recommended.

I've purchased many lens's for my new Panasonic GH5. Each with a specific reason. This is on par, and probably a step below, the similar priced 12-35 f2.8. I say this, because with a variable aperture vs the constant, your not going to get the same shot throughout the zoom. And even though I also own the 35-100mm, one might think I'd be crazy to not have gotten the 12-35mm, to get the constant f.28 throughout. But I say, even with the 35-100mm in my collection as well, I am 100% firm in my decision to pick up this lens. The 35-100mm is a great portrait, and the 12-35 is a great close zoom lens. The 12-60mm is a great 75%'er. What is a 75%'er you ask, why its the lens that sits on my camera 75% of the time. With the added range to 60mm vs the 30mm, even though its at a higher aperture, it easily falls in the range of what I shoot. Granted between 35mm and 60mm its got going to give as nice low light, quick shots, or depth of field vs a constant 2.8. But it doesn't need to. If I know I'm going for longer zoom, I plan and bring my 35-100mm. But I don't want to 'need' to bring 2 lens's with me everywhere I go. If I need the 2.8, I just stay at the 18mm range and zoom in post, but going up to 60mm, gives me a greater chance I'm not going to miss something, while also not needing to swap out lens's.

This lens is very nice. It has a good range and is reasonably fast when wide open. The auto focus and image stabilization works GREAT with the GH5. I truly believe that those who say auto focus on the GH5 isn't good have not tried it with this lens attached. The only con I find with this lens is that it only shoots at 2.8 at 12mm......you barely zoom in and the f stop instantly decreases. If the lens were faster the while way thru I'd give it an A+

As expected with a Leica lens, this lens has excellent quality from how it's constructed and the image quality. Autofocus is fast and accurate. Durable metal construction and weather sealing. Pricey but what isn't when dealing with high-end photography equipment?

Possibly the best lens available for the GH5. Sharp, great color and contrast, well built.... only thing to make it nicer would be a constant aperture but the. It would probably cost and weigh twice as much.

The perfect walkaround lens. Extended range. Image stabilization is awesome with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. There is almost no lens flaring. There is very little that this lens cannot do. I use it for portraits, interviews, wide walkatound and closeups.

I was getting ready to order a new lens from Best Buy when I saw that my local store had an open box 12-60 so I jumped on it for $719. The only issue was that it did not have the lens hood, but I ordered one right away. I'm very happy with this lens.

I purchased an open-box of this lens and the description says it's in "Excellent" condition. But when I got the item, I immediately noticed the scratches plus both the lens caps are missing. It's in completetly unacceptable state and definitely not "excellent" condition. Plus shipping is horrible! The lens was shipped in a big box with just one sheet of bubble wrap, which means the lens has been shook during the whole shipping. Definitely won't recommend buying any camera lens new or used from best buy.
