I’ve been using the LUMIX S5IIX for a few weeks now, and I have to say—it’s an absolute beast of a camera! As a filmmaker and content creator, I was looking for a versatile camera that could handle both high-quality video and stills, and the S5IIX has exceeded my expectations. The Autofocus is a huge step up from previous models. The phase-detection AF is incredibly responsive, even in low light, which has been a lifesaver during shoots. The new Active I.S. system is phenomenal—I can confidently shoot handheld without worrying about shaky footage. When it comes to video, the S5IIX really shines. The ProRes internal recording is a game-changer for my workflow. It offers incredible detail and flexibility in post-production. The camera also supports external SSD recording, which has been a massive convenience for long shoots. The dynamic range and low-light performance are stunning. Even at higher ISOs, the noise levels are impressively low, and the colors are natural and vibrant. The V-Log/V-Gamut profiles are perfect for cinematic projects, and the grading potential is endless. Another feature I love is the black design—it’s sleek and low-profile, which is perfect for documentary work or shooting in public without drawing too much attention. The build quality is solid, yet it’s surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to carry around for extended periods. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the menu system could be a bit more intuitive for beginners, but once you get used to it, the customization options are incredible. Overall, the LUMIX S5IIX is a must-have for hybrid shooters who demand pro-level video features in a compact, affordable package. Whether you’re a filmmaker, content creator, or photographer, this camera is worth every penny!

No-brainer Upgrade, Serious Contender to Sony

I upgraded from a Lumix S5 and am enjoying the improved autofocus and other features. I haven't had a chance to use the live-streaming feature yet but I look forward to it. I still believe that the S5 series offers the best value on the market for hybrid shooters. The extra money versus the S5II is well worth it for anyone shooting video. The SSD recording alone is worth the money but when you add unlimited 6K, RAW video out, and wireless streaming, it's a no-brainer. But I will say that I HATE the black-out design. It's extremely difficult to see the buttons, even in broad daylight. I'm going to end up painting mine so I can see them. Comparing this to its competitors, I'd say it beats Canon and competes with Sony. Canon lost me as a customer when they came out with the M-50 "Mark II" which was a minor firmware upgrade. It was insulting not to mention wasteful. And since they've decoupled from third party lens manufacturers, I see no reason to enter that ecosystem unless you're already invested. Sony is a different story. Their autofocus is still a little bit better and their lens selection is the best on the market. However, I can't stand their ergonomics. That combined with better value are why I'm a Panasonic user. Photos included with this review were taken with the Sigma 24-70 DG DN, my workhorse lens.

Love Lumix this is now my 3rd Lumix camera (G85, S5, S5IIX) Keeps all the characteristics from the S5 that i loved plus more. The G85 and S5 will always have place in my heart but the huge improvement in AF over the S5 makes macro shooting worth it

Amazing specs for the price! You can record 12-bit ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW files to Atomos or Blackmagic recorders via HDMI, which is a nice option for the future if I ever want. My music video productions look great with the S5iiX!

Camera technology has to be one of the most competitive fields to do business in. You can buy a camera and the very next day the competition will release something cheaper with higher specs. That being said, the Lumix S5 IIX has been a joy to use. It's incredibly versatile. I recently filmed a wedding 100% handheld, switching between 6K open gate, 4K a and 5.9K ProRes RAW over HDMI to a Ninja V. The majority of my footage came out buttery smooth with great color. The new hybrid phase detect autofocus is a massive improvement over Panasonic's DFD. However I would still count it as just a great start. It works well most of the time, sometimes even surprising me locking on to people on a dark dance floor with pulsing lights. Other times it will lose focus with perfect lighting. The times it loses focus are few, but there is room for improvement. Also, c'mon Panny, we need phase detect at 120 fps with a firmware update! There are so many other cameras out there that can do it. Photography: I'm not a photographer. However, the photos i have taken with the X actually look good. Which is saying something since my photos outside of smartphone or point and shots see usually not that great. Overall, I've had great times filming with this camera! From a beginner or even a pro wanting a lighter camera with serious video features, i recommend.

Panasonic Lumix S5 IIx an outstanding camera.

The Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is an outstanding camera that is well-suited for a variety of photography and videography applications. It is a great choice for photographers and videographers who are looking for a high-performance camera that can handle a variety of shooting conditions. However, it is important to note that the S5 IIX is a relatively expensive camera, and its battery life could be better. It is also not as compact as some other full-frame mirrorless cameras. So, if you are on a tight budget or are looking for a camera that is more portable, you may want to consider another option. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to buy the Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is up to you. However, I hope that this review has helped you to make an informed decision.

    Fantastic Upgrade!

Oh hey there, friendo. Let's chat about a piece of gear that’s had me buzzing lately - the Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX. Yes, it's an upgrade from the OG Lumix S5 and, spoiler alert: it’s an upgrade that's pretty dang sweet. First up, Panasonic finally got the memo we've all been screaming about and hopped aboard the phase detect autofocus train, leaving behind the contrast-based AF. A monumental move! For someone who's primarily a street photographer (like yours truly), swift and reliable autofocus is like gold. And this camera? It's Midas-touch level good. Now, you might be wondering, why would a street photography junkie be interested in a camera with a heavy video focus? Two words: All. Black. The sleek design of the S5IIX just speaks to my aesthetic-loving soul. Plus, even though my heart beats for stills, having the option to delve into top-notch video is like having a secret weapon up my sleeve. Speaking of video, the ability to add real-time LUTs? A game-changer. It's a unique feature that just takes your video content up a notch. And even if video isn’t your main jam, this little extra can come in super handy. Now, the L Mount Alliance. It’s like watching an underdog team start to dominate. Sure, it hasn't quite reached Sony heights in terms of lens selection, but give it time. The momentum? It's palpable. Every lens release just feels like another step towards greatness. And being invested in it feels like being part of a rapidly growing family. In conclusion, if you're rocking the original Lumix S5 and have been toying with the idea of an upgrade, let me tell you, the S5IIX (or the more practical S5II) makes it worth your while. It's not just a slight spec bump; it's a comprehensive upgrade that caters to both video maestros and still shot lovers. Dive in, and experience the magic!

This is the Swiss Army Knife of Cameras. From live streaming to short films, the Lumix S5XII has everything you'll need. With full-sized HDMI and ProRes recording, a Full-Frame sensor, and external recording, the S5IIX gives me confidence that I'm prepared for whatever the job calls for.

I purchased this for my youtube channel, and i will be keeping it. It works really well, has excellent battery life and tons of options. Unfortunately there are certain video modes that you are forced to APS-C for (anything over 4k/30). I didnt know beforehand, and was surprised when i figured it out, but at the pricepoint i feel its acceptable.
