Customers frequently mention the enjoyable gameplay, fun story, and humor as highlights of Paper Mario: Color Splash. Many also praise the game's ease of use and memorable music. However, some find the battle system cumbersome and the amount of reading required excessive. A few players also felt the game's difficulty level could be improved.

I would recommend this game to anyone that has enjoyed a Paper Mario game in the past, or anyone who is simply looking for a thoroughly hilarious title with a keen sense of style. It is family-friendly (reading comprehension is a must), but would really have quite a bit to offer to a player of any age. I genuinely don't think I've played a funnier game, though of course the visuals are beautiful and the environments are quite unique.
The one point of controversy is the battle mechanic, since it retains the turn-based style of past titles but swaps in limited cards, achieved through an in-game shop or discovery in the environment (just to be clear, the shop uses in-game currency - no microtransactions here). Some have decried this battle system, but I found that the tactile aspect of using the Gamepad to scroll through the cards and fling them "to the screen" for use in battle kept me engaged with the action. Difficulty is not high for completion of the main story, but as with many Nintendo titles, there are other rewards for players interested in going the extra mile and exploring their environment/collecting all of the cards.
There's too much to talk about in a short review, but I'd say that you'll certainly get your money's worth if you're looking for a whimsical, beautiful RPG on the Wii U.

Too many great thing to say about this game. My wife loved it. The theme, dialog, gimmicks, story, art style, etc. The story will make you laugh as Nintendo makes fun of itself and others...all while breaking teh 4th wall. The battle system is good. The comedy is great. The graphics and aesthetics should appeal to anyone who loves Yoshi's Woolly World and Kirby and the rainbow Curse as this game takes the paper theme to a whole new level. Its like playing a real diorama book. It supports off-tv play for those interested. Good gamepad support. Definitely a must-have for the Wii U. Do NOT pass this up. Ignore the Thousand Year Door critics and buy this game.

While not the perfect successor to the original Paper Mario in that it isn't the same kind of RPG, Color Splash takes the good elements of Sticker Star and improves them significantly. Sticker Star wasn't a perfect game - it wasn't terrible, but some of the exploration elements were far too vague and unrealistic in their explanations, requiring constant visits to IGN to figure out what to do. Color Splash tones down the randomness of Sticker Star and improves its adventure gameplay.
The graphics, animations, environments, ambiance, and soundtrack are all superb.
Combat is the greatest weakness of Color Splash, and the card system, like the sticker system before it, is just not ideal. If they went back to the combat mechanics of the first Paper Mario game (or Thousand Year Door), that would improve things significantly.

Color Splash has a lot in common with previous Paper Mario games, including its beautiful aesthetic and great sense of humor. The card-based battle system makes certain fights overly drawn out and makes your attacks a finite resource that need to be managed. It doesn't ruin the game, just makes it slightly more of a chore to play at times. All other gameplay aspects are great though, and I'd definitely recommend this game.

Another great game in the paper Mario series. Graphics and art behind the worlds look absolutely beautiful. Storyline is pretty good with quite a few witty lines and the music is perfect. If you like paper Mario sticker you would like this one. Battles get a bit cumbersome and repetitive using cards to defeat enemies and solving puzzles but definitely don't let that take away from looks and sound of this amazing game.

Wii U's Hidden Gem

The Wii U is going out with a bang with its inclusion of Paper Mario: Color Splash on its system. This installment of Paper Mario is easily in the Top 3 of Best Wii U games. Beyond the witty dialogue (what game has that anymore?), the innovative play makes this a game that both gamers and casual players alike would enjoy.
I also want to say that this game included my favorite individual video game level I've ever played: the Green Energy Plant is the best, most creative Mario level that's ever been designed. I loved the level so much I had my wife play it a few times, and even she really liked it.
With all the buzz about the Switch and the end of the life cycle for the Wii U, Paper Mario Color Splash will probably get overlooked and trip into obscurity because of the timing of the game's release. But if you own a Wii U, this game is a must-have. I finished the game yesterday and am actually having some sadness withdrawals as I wish I could continue playing, but there's nothing left for me to do in the game. That's the mark of an excellent game, and an experience I've had only a handful of times.

I was very excited about this game. I was a little diapointed after I started playing the game. It was a bit too easy. I am still playing just to finish. No sure if I will play the game a second time.
Pros: Fun, great music, visually appealing
Con: Over priced, too easy- needs to be more challenging

The game looks beautiful and has that classic Paper Mario style and comedy. I wasn't a big fan of the battling system though. You collect cards, color them, and use them in battle. Generally a fun game but not as good as the older Paper Mario games.

This game was great, and don't let the previous paper mario games full you, this one had me pretty annoyed at times lol especially the final boss. but I loved the game and it was cute and witty as usual. Had me rolling a few times with the things the toads would say lol

Many interesting ideas were put into this game. The visual design is unusual and good, integrated with game play, which is dynamic enough for me not to feel bored. There are also many funny dialogues.

A worth entry to the Paper Mario series

While Paper Mario: Sticker Star was my favorite in the series up to this point, I was painfully aware of its many shortcomings. Thankfully, Color Splash takes the positive elements of Sticker Star (a simple story, great controls, amazing soundtrack, and memorable world design) and corrects a number of Sticker Star's glaring problems (meaningless battles, irrational/un-intuitive Thing usage). I enjoyed Color Splash immensely and recommend it highly to any Paper Mario fan.

I bought this without doing much research because I loved all the past paper Mario titles and have played them all through many times. Color Splash did not let me down! An excellent addition to the series, this captured all the humor, puzzles, and story elements of a traditional paper Mario game with the new mechanic of re painting a world drained of its color by slurping shy guys. I will be replaying this one again for sure.

I absolutely love this game. I'm 30 years old and have found that I enjoy it just as much as my 8 year old daughter. It has classic paper mario battle action, but with a fun story. You need to restore color to all the lands, which makes for anow extra goal to get each land 100% restored. Definitely fun for all ages. 1 player only.

The only thing I knew about this game going in was that it had good graphics and it was funny. I was blown away. The graphics(for the 3d objects, there aren't a lot of them, but the ones that are in there) blew me away. Almost life like. And the humour in this game is amazing. Constantly breaking the 4th wall, and making fun of itself and other Nintendo characters make it a joy to play.
