Years ago, I had a different version of basically the same type of hand blender. It was mostly made of hard plastic and didn’t boast nearly the power of this Philips Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender. Upon trying it out, I found using this to be an effortless (and fun) way to make smooth and creamy mashed potatoes. Blending up delicious smoothies was super quick and easy too, and I’m looking forward to using this handy kitchen tool to create a whole host of other dishes, like those seen in the included recipe booklet. First things first, though. It’s a good idea to review the user manual, paying particular attention to the cautionary safeguards. And watch out! Those titanium coated blades are not only 6x harder than stainless steel, they are sharp! For added safety, the ergonomically designed soft touch handgrip ensures a secure grip when maneuvering this hand blender. It’s very important to remember to clean/rinse off the blender bar after every use, to ensure food doesn’t get ‘caked on’ and that the hand blender is ready for it’s next use. Philips ProMix Speed Touch Technology with Turbo Boost allows you to control the level of power of this hand blender’s 300W motor, maximizing performance for faster more consistent blending. The harder you press the Trigger Switch, the higher the processing speed becomes. Another feature is the blender bar’s unique triangular blade guard with special wave shape, which provides optimal food flow. A 1L Beaker comes with this hand blender, and there are several optional accessories available, including: a whisk, double mixer blades, XL chopper with multi-chopper accessory, and potato masher. Overall, this Philips Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender is a quality tool that will look sleek and modern in any kitchen. I’d definitely recommend.

To start, this is a niche device. Not everyone needs a hand blender, and if so, this appliance will do nothing for you. But, for the people trying to make their own baby food or soup or etc etc, this will be a game changer. My wife was using a food processor which was significantly more expensive in order to prepare mush for our little one. The biggest drawback with the full-size food processor was the cleanup after even making a small batch. Enter the Phillips Promix. It seems almost stupidly simple - one slider bar to indicate the strength of the blend, and you press buttons to either increase or decrease the strength. It comes with a bin that you blend in, and the bin perfectly contains the food so there’s absolutely no spill. Rinse out the bin easily, and the hand mixer comes apart for easy rinsing as well. TL;DR: for those who need a hand mixer, this is a perfect value for the price and it gets the job done exceptionally well. Extremely well-thought out design.

The Phillips Avance ProMix hand blender is my first hand blender so I don't have a lot to compare it to directly. What I can say is that it has a LOT of power. You feel like you could blend anything once you have it going. It has an analog variable speed (non-stepped) trigger and the blades have a shroud to prevent splash. The blades themselves are titanium coated and should be very durable long term (even with frozen foods and ice). The included bowl is ideal for small jobs and in my case I made a strawberry smoothie from frozen strawberries and it tore through them with ease. The bowl and blade/shroud are all dishwasher safe too if you don't want to hand wash. The unit is also compatible with other ProMix accessories such as the potato masher, chopper, whisk, etc. attachments. Overall build quality is excellent and doesn't feel like Philips skimped on anything. Only thing I would like to see in a future variation is a possible cordless model. That's not a knock against this one though, just something that would be nice to see as the cord can takes some getting used to.

Having a baby and making a lot of purée foods, I was very eager to give this a whirl. The actual mixing capabilities brought upon great results. Solidly built, it mixed down cooked sweet potato smoothly. I would say though, for the weight of the unit - if you were using it for a longer period of time I could see it being a great workout or a nuisance - depending on how you look at it. I also wish the power cord was a little longer. The way the kitchen is laid out in my house, having some extra space would have been valuable - or maybe even a rechargeable option? Regardless of its shortcomings, this mixer gets the job done and in the convenience of a hand unit, which is a big plus!

The Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender feels solid in the hand and has very good balance for it's noticeable weight. Assembly was simple and easily comes back apart to facilitate proper and hassle free cleaning. Overall, the build quality of this unit has the feel of quality engineering throughout unlike many of the other lower priced, competing products out there. The most valuable feature of this hand mixer is the stepped trigger that easily and securely allows one to adjust the speed in operation. We found this very helpful in mitigating any 'splash & fling' when preparing our favorite powdered protein drink in a talk pitcher. Having a look through the accompanying documentation, Philips offers a wide variety of attachments that can enhanced the applicability of this hand mixer. We look forward to adding a few of these accessories. We can solidly recommend this product to friends & family. Good job Philips!

My wife has used a similar mixer in the past, but it was mostly plastic. As soon as you hold this ProMix Hand Blender, you realize this one is really built solid. The entire bottom half is metal and easily snaps off for cleaning. Quality product, Works great.

Philips - Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender - Black Wow. I’ve been using a different brand hand blender for years and thought it was great, but this Philips blender is better in several ways. First, it’s so much lighter! Blending a large pot of soup is so much easier when your hand doesn’t tire from the weight of the tool. The ergonomic grip and the easy-on button (which ramps up in speed the more you press on it) make blending in a large pot very easy. There are no other blades with this model, but I found that the one included was up to every job I tried. You can purchase other accessories separately. This model is 300 watts which provided more than enough power for everyday tasks such as soup and smoothies. Honestly, If I have to blend a lot of ice or frozen fruit, I’m going to reach for a blender over a hand blender anyway.

This one is pretty straight forward. It's a great hand blender that packs power. It is solidly built and matches most finishes in your kitchen. Whether you have black appliances or stainless steel, this will fit right in. It is a little tall so you will need to separate it to store it. It comes with a measuring cup that doubles as a mixing bowl. The one test I measure all hand blenders by is the pancake mix test. This thing passed with flying colors. More than enough power to mix thick pancake batter. If you're in the market for a hand blender, this one is for you!

The Philips ProMix hand blender is a great addition to anyone’s kitchen. The variable speed works well to fine tune your blending depending on the item being run through the blades. For those that missed it in the specs section, it is not cordless. The cord is about 5 feet long. I would have preferred it to have a rechargeable battery or even the combination of a corded/cordless option. Also, there are accessories that can be attached but they are not included and have to be purchased separately. I have seen other hand blenders come bundled with extra attachments so that knocks off a star, in my opinion. However, it is a pretty powerful hand blender/mixer that can handle most tasks with ease.

Included- Hand blender, beaker, instruction manual, and recipe book. If you are looking for a hand mixer to blend up baby food, soups, sauces, batters and drinks, this is a nice appliance. The device is comfortable to hold and operate. I like that pressing the trigger with different pressure controls the speed of the blender. Though the motor is 300w and can tackle frozen fruit, it warns not to use on ice. I usually add ice to my smoothies so I wish that could be included. I also wish the beaker was larger or there were a couple different sizes. But the ProMix hand blender is great for specific tasks. I'm looking forward to making some really creamy mashed potatoes this fall and winter!

So tried this bad boy out with a smoothie, some chopped veggies for a quick salsa and a few sauces. First I love how light weight this bad boy is. It makes working a smoothie with frozen fruit and crushed ice a breeze. The variable speed trigger is great, no need to pause to change the speed or use another hand to change the speed like on other devices. Clean up is a breeze, just be sure to get under the blade well. It whipped into sauces with zero effort. And blitzed the salsa like no tomorrow. So much better than getting the cuisinart out and all the clean up it requires. Great addition to the kitchen. Hope it will last forever.

This is great for when you don't want to pull out a full food processor or don't have room for one. The base unit is fairly limited in use, but there are a bunch of inexpensive attachments that make it into a full-fledged processor without taking up as much space. The motor on this guy is much stronger than most of the more inexpensive hand blenders. You get what you pay for here. It's heavy and well built and will last for years! If you're looking to make basic recipes like soups and smoothies the base unit is perfect. If you want to use it to make more complex things like salsas, you will need an attachment.

The hand blender is lightweight and easy to assemble. The plastic cup that holds the food to be blended is a nice diameter with helpful measurement markings. I pureed 1 1/2 cups peeled tomatoes in 15 seconds. The motor is a soft, nonabrasive noise. No splashing occurred. The blender does not stand upside down, so it must be laid down when not in use. The spout of the clear plastic cup is very helpful in pouring pureed contents into freezer bags. Clean up is a breeze. I think it would be great for pureeing soup.

I have always wanted a handheld mixer to make soups and sauces mainly. The Philips - Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender is compact and easy to use. I especially like the ease in which it can be washed and stored. We have used it to make smoothies and it worked perfectly. The smoothie was a great consistency and mixed throughout. I look forward to making my own whipped cream for the holidays and trying it out for salad dressing and mixing gravy. Overall, very happy with it so far.

I’ve used other hand mixers like this in restaurants I’ve worked at over the years. I’ve never had one with the variable speed button this one has. Just squeeze harder to make it go faster. It seems very sturdy as well, probably the best made one I’ve ever used. Good quality materials. The only thing I’m not a fan of is how tall it is. I’m used to working with ones that are a bit taller and can be used in a sauce pot. This one comes with a container to mix in that’s just big enough for it.

I love the ergonomics of this immersion blender. I've been using a competitor's version for many years and really enjoyed it until it burned up during a particularly furious cooking weekend. Enter the Phillips Avance ProMix. At first I was a bit concerned by the single button speed control, not thinking I could keep it steady and would just be on "high" all the time but it's incredibly easy and the tactile feel is terrific. Blending soups and sauces is quick and easy (and doesn't require pulling one of the bigger units out of the pantry closet). Cleanup is easy but beware the blades are extremely sharp so if you get food chunks stuck behind them, resist the urge to use your finger to get it dislodged. Trust me on this one. The only downside I see is that you can't use this mixer to chop ice, frozen foods, or anything that's relatively solid as the titanium blades may break off. Lots of warnings about this in the manual so I'm taking their word for it...wouldn't want a chunk of blade floating around in something you're going to eat. My old unit didn't have this limitation and I often would use it for crushing small amounts of ice, hard nuts, frozen berries, etc., so this unit will require me to adjust my usage a bit. That's the only reason I knocked a star off. One bonus for this unit that's not something you'd normally think about is that it doesn't include a bunch of useless accessories that are going to junk up your drawers or storage spaces. It's just a simple and well-designed machine that does the job it's advertised to do.

This hand mixer while not large in size; nonetheless, it packs a powerful punch! I tried it out by blending some eggs for breakfast and man, it was “whip quick and savvy!” It blends quite well and I am so looking forward to putting it to extended usage as the holiday season is nearing. I enjoy baking; therefore, this little kitchen “elf” will be the perfect partner this upcoming holiday season.

After using the Philips - Avance Collection ProMix Hand Blender I hve to say it is about average as far as hand blenders go. The Variable speed is a nice bonus but it is not supposed to be used with ice or on a cooking pot. These features would have made it much more versatile. The variable speed was very useful for chopping items that you don't want to completely blend up or puree. I found that the motor was adequate but it could have been a bit more powerful. This package didn't come with any optional tools which also would have been nice. It is built very well and seemed very sturdy and rugged, So that is a plus. So if you are looking for a simple hand blender for simple projects then this will do the job well, But if you are looking for one that will do more than just hand blend then you may want to upgrade to a model with more optional tools and maybe a bit more power.

The ProMix hand blender is very easy to learn and use. The blades are tough enough to take all the different vegetables and nuts I've been able to throw at it so far! This is a great blender for making dips and quick chopped food for a smaller number of people (2-6 servings worth), it can handle more but for larger dishes you'd want to switch to a larger blender or mixer.
