I bought this in order to have HDR.. I already had the 40" Philips 4K monitor, but it didn't do HDR so I had to have this one! One drawback, no local dimming. I did want this largely for doubling as my office 4K HDR movie viewing.. without the local dimming that my big Sony has in the living room.. the blacks are NOT inky black and you see back light artifacts in dark scenes. Also this monitor, like it's predecessors, takes a long time to wake up from sleep mode. shake the mouse and wait a bit.. Ok.. the bad out of the way.. this is a great looking monitor. I love the real estate it gives and the colors are a lot more saturated then the predecessor which was a VA panel. HDR1000 is crazy bright! It does justice to HDR dynamic range except for the aforementioned lack of inky blacks. As a computer monitor I had to reduce the brightness from defaults, it was SO bright. As a first to the market for an HDR1000 PC monitor it is great.. I wonder if I had waited though if the next gen or a competitor wouldn't include FALD (full array local dimming) which would have made this a crazy good monitor.

Loved the colors, brightness, and size for gaming on my XONE X. Not enough local dimming zones is the downfall for this monitor, halo effect is severe. Doesn't help that the monitor I received ended up being faulty; wouldn't turn on one day but Best Buy took care of me, thank you $50 Geek Squad replacement plan.

I wanted 4k,HDR,Freesync,low input lag, low response time, and large screen for relaxed gaming. This does not disappoint

First of all I really wanted to like this monitor, it fit all my criteria. Xbox1x Freesync check/ ps4 pro support check/ pc hdr support check.. that’s where it ends. The backlight dimming is so bad that moving the mouse around on a black area produces a strip of about 3 inches wide top to bottom halo effect. Also on bright scenes there is a very noticeable dirty window effect on all edges of the screen. I do not see how this could ever pass QA especially with a price tag of $1,000. I just went back to my vastly superior 49X900E. Hopefully after a couple of revisions this will improve, because on paper alone the specs are amazing. I just all goes to heck after you plug it in and turn it on.

For the price, this monitor just isn't worth it. Its not bad, but its not great either. Picture is decent, but better 4k options out there and HDR quality is lacking.

I have had this monitor for a few months now so I think it is time to give my thoughts. When I originally came across this monitor, my 10 year old Samsung 46 inch TV was starting to fail, so this looked too good to be true. I had been using my TV as my monitor for years and hated the response time and thought there is no way this monitor would be any good. I saw the low scores on this site and was skeptical. I began to read professional reviews and thought if I didn’t like it I could return it. I purchased the monitor and could not be happier. I have a Sony 4K HDR 43” TV and this monitor is so much sharper. I love to watch movies and most importantly, game. There is only 1 HDMI port, but I already had a 4K hub, so that was not an issue. My Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, and my PC (Ryzen 7 2700x with 2x Asus Strix GeForce GTX 1080s in SLI) look incredible on this. I had to take the time to try and adjust the brightness/color so the whites are not too overpowering. When a game gives me the option to configure HDR, I do. The sound is great for a flat panel. I watch a lot of Tron Legacy and Daft Punk has murdered speakers on 3 of my flat panels, but so far so good on this thing. It’s not the most amazing sound, but I usually use my Bose QC 35 when gaming or watching movies, however, when I don’t use them, the sound is never overpowering or too quiet. This has less pixel density than a smaller 2k gaming monitor, but I sit so far away this does amazing. Also, Gsync works great even though this is not certified by Nvidia, and the Freesync works great on my Xbox One X. I would definitely buy again.
