Bit too expensive but I do like it.

I like this app a lot but $20 is a bit too much for me compared to hulu and Netflix as a streaming service. Plus all the ads is another negative which I feel the revenue you get for the ads should drop the price a bit. Maybe I'm just cheap lol

Very convenient it provides and satisfies my needs of what I want to watch when I want to watch and what I like to watch it lags a little bit in the beginning But after that it's clean all the way through I have had no issues once in a full moon it'll lag for like 2 seconds and then it'll continue to play without problems I like it a lot because I don't watch sports and it has all my favorite channels The only downside is no cartoon Network for my kids I don't understand why that didn't come with the package but that was a bit of a disappointment

I bought this twice and it still isn’t working, I called Philo and Best Buy but no one can find out the problem. Says it can’t use the payment method, but already took the money out.

Philo "blackouts" ruined the app!

DON'T SIGN UP FOR THIS! I loved Philo for the first week and then one morning i woke up and every channel i like said "Blackout" and would not let me watch anything. This is something that apparently happens often on Philo and it's nerve racking when you only have 30 or so channels to begin with. Very disappointed

I don't normally ever watch Live TV so this is from someone going from there, to just using it because I have it, to now actually liking it for the content included and howbit's much easier to watch shows I never think to, or just have the convenience to throw a random channel on without choosing what I want to watch through an endless list, for when I just want background noise or a variety of shows I dont have to commit to or keep the same show/movie on non-stop. All on a single channel sometimes.
Now I only tried it since it was free with my new TV pirchase, and cobsidering I'm NOW a real Live TV kinda guy, the Full-Package* is a little much for me to justify spending for what you get. Especially since I just had a baby son this year. The fact that it's just ANOTHER standalone App you'll need on your Android/Smart TV home screen and switch around to, and when you factor in that you'll most likely be using this with a TV that already has multiple apps for Streaming (that you're also paying for) that already include the whole "Live TV" thing (with FF/RW DVR capabilities like Philo), its not really something I need *IN MY USE CASE*.
Although if it is, it's definitely cheaper than it's competitors when comparing features, but it also doesn't have sports packages like some other TV subscription services. Still, of you don't care about that like me (although, I WOULD appreciate, and probably use, a sports package/channel that broadcasts Racing/Motorsport content like Formula 1/2 or GT3, Rally/Rallycross racing, MotoGP, Redbull/Hoonigan, etc...) then this would most likely be my choice if I were to use a Live TV service.
Still, always remember to do proper research before choosing any subscription service for the one that best suits your needs.

If you still want to channel surf, this is the way to do it. Philo manages to be inexpensive by not including the most expensive channels for cable providers: news and sports. I never cared that much about the sports channels anyway, and Fox News is the most heavily-subsidized channel there is -- they wouldn't survive without the money that being shoehorned into cable packages gives them. Plus, it's not like it's hard to get news elsewhere, like Reuters or AP apps.
Philo has virtually all the "other" channels, even the ones that would be top-tier in traditional cable packages, like all the BBC channels. It's easy to use and makes a good transition for people who aren't sure about cutting the cable. I got it for an older relative who had previously had Comcast. They like it a lot and are saving a fortune over Comcast.
Would be five stars if it were possible to save programs into Chromecast's library, which would definitely be a useful feature.

This was an add on to something i bought so i didn't intend on keeping it. But, I liked Philo. However, after a few months it just completely stopped working and stopped charging me. None of the credentials changed so wasn't sure what the problem was. I was ok with it though because most of the stuff on there is also available on Discovery plus, so i just got that instead since I already have YouTube TV anyway. But if I didnt have YT TV, I'd say this is a decent stand in for a basic cable type set-up. Tge interface is easy to use and it keeps dvr stuff for a long time. Very Decent alternative for basic cable.

Great radio. I had it for over av year now. My only problem isb that i wish sound volume would have been a knob. Touch screen is nice but when you driving andb want to lower or raise the volume you have to precise when touching the Blume volume on the screen

Best Budget Conscious Live TV Streaming App

Philo is a great entry level Live TV for cord-cutters. I get 63 TV channels, and when used with Channels DVR app, I am able to get 98 TV Everywhere HD channels. Great for the price when compared to other Live TV streaming apps like YouTube TV, Hulu plus live and Fubo tv to least a few; however, do not expect the majority of the channels to be in 1080P. I believe a fair amount of the channels are in 720P which is also considered as HD. Some of the shortcomings to Philo TV are no local TV stations, and no sports, which justify Philo TV's low cost and savings. Overall, it's a great option for those of us who are budget-conscious.

philo tv allows me to watch shows and movies. but i have to watch the commercials for most of the shows. for some movies, it lets me fast forward the commercials. signing in to philo tv, requires me to log in to my email inbox to get an access code every time i want to sign in from the web browser computer. on a tablet, philo tv stays signed in for a few days without an access code while using the philo tv app. and for some movies that are included in philo tv, i have to wait for a few weeks until they become available for viewing.

as with any streaming subscription service, check the product offerings and decide. sports channels are not part of the package; personally, I'm OK with OTA for sports. my wife really enjoys the Hallmark Channels & 90's tv shows, they are all here plus more. there isn't enough time in the day to watch the shows that are presented.

Philo is a good service for people who've dropped cable and don't want sports or news. I haven't had cable for 9 years, so I am always interested in trying new streaming services. I don't know if the channels Philo offers simply have more commercials than other channels I typically watch, but an hour show has about 25 minutes of commercials. For me, this is really excessive.

Very Good Live Streaming Service

Overall a very good streaming service. I've had Sling and a host of other live streaming services and this is definitely one of the most consistent. My only complaint is that there is no ability to add sports channels. I am not a huge sports fan but I do enjoy games occasionally and this is where Sling could equate to a slightly better deal especially if one were to only Purchase Sling Blue or Orange alone. I am an ID Channel fan and Philo scratches that itch flawlessly.

I wanted to give Philo a try before buying; however you are unable to activate the best buy purchase through the portal using the same account the free trial was activated on. Luckily I just borrowed my wife's phone for 2 minutes to make a new account and everything worked.
Due to the recent launch of Discovery+ just about every show we watch is punctuated with at least 2 ads for the other service each and *every* commercial break. To make matters worse, the lower 1/5th of the screen will have a banner advertising Discovery+, often obscuring recipes and content.
