I have had the Phyn device installed in our home for over two years now. Every month or two they keep adding improvements to the app. The app really let's you see where you are consuming the most water and how you compare to others with a similar household. Once a day it runs a plumping check to make sure there are no leaks by pressurizing the line. If it notices anything during the check I get an alert on my phone. Phyn has come in handy a few times when the kids left the water running in our basement bathroom and another time we had a bad flapper on the toilet. When the alert comes in I then have to hunt through the rooms to check the faucets, etc. to see where it may be coming from. The app allows you to auto shut off your water in the case of an emergency or it can do it on its own. The hookup to the home internet is very simple. A few times it lost its connection but I immediately get an alert on the app and it would reconnect. Once it is connected again you are notified that all is well. (This comes in handy when the internet goes off in the house.) The best part of the device is that now I can get on my kids when they leave the shower running too long or they lie about a 10 minute shower when it actually is 30 minutes— I now have proof! A few times the bath was left on (again by the kids) and they walked away and forgot. You will get an alert that an excess amount of water is being consumed. I recommend this device for everyone that is interested in keeping tabs on their water use and especially for those that have kids.

I have been using Phyn Plus almost from the beginning, Has quality build, simple installation (Is a DIY job but is recommended for professional installation). I like the idea to shut off the main water supply, tracking the water usage is another plus. The Android app is easy to use. I am able to see the water pressure, temperature and flow in real time and is pretty accurate. Phyn Plus has smart integration with Alexa, Google Assistant and IFFTT Personally I am not using them often but are working well. What I would like to have, is integration with SmartThings, this is gonna be a great PLUS for Phyn. I want to mention I am using the Phyn - Smart Water Assistant as well, I really like this products. There are no monthly subscriptions.

The most advanced water monitor on the market

This isn't just another remote water shut-off device. Phyn has figured out how to detect subtle changes in water pressure to detect leaks and other abnormalities with precision. After a learning period, the device can keep track of your water usage from every fixture in your house and categorize them correctly. This comes in handy if you want to see how much water a particular fixture is using. A couple examples: You can save water by making sure your toilet is flushing efficiently. If Phyn shows that your upstairs toilet is using 3x the amount of water as your downstairs toilet, you know there are some adjustments to be made. Another example: I have a whole-home humidifier. Phyn identified its water usage and was able to tell me it was wasting around 40 gallons a day too much because the flow rate was too high. I was able to restrict the water flow to the humidifier so it isn't wasting water and costing me money. Without Phyn I never would have been able to detect this. In addition to these features, the device can shut off the water automatically if it detects a flow rate that is abnormal. That means if you're on vacation and a catastrophic leak occurs, Phyn will identify it because the water pressure won't match any of your fixtures. It will then send you a text alert about it, and subsequently shut off the water for you - potentially saving thousands of dollars of damage and headache. The water can also be shut off remotely. This could come in handy for people with vacation homes or rental properties. Similarly, it will notify you of non-catastrophic abnormalities that can help you identify things like a faulty toilet flapper. It also gives a lot of additional information that can be useful, like a comparison of your water usage to the average, and so forth. All in all, there's nothing else like this on the market. It only took my plumber an hour or two to install. I'm very impressed with it, and it's good to have the peace of mind and protection. Highly recommended!

I am glad I decided to buy it. It provides piece of mind by learning from the house, identifies consumption per each faucet, feature, etc. bringing knowledge of usage and also learning when a leak or a possible one is detected. Works with IFTTT and receive push notifications and calls when alerts are identified, even switch off the water if required. I can also do it manually from the app from anywhere in the world. I love it. The only tricky part would be the installation. I recommend you hire a plumber if you are not confortable changing the house main water line.

I had four busted pipes and this device showed me the high pressure coming into my house. I which I would have had this sooner. It would have save me thousands. I was able to get a pressure reducing calve added to my house and since then no more problems. Admittedly my house is almost 20 years old. By the way the system Is sensitive and alerts me on pressure drops, I discovered it was when my ice maker is working. Pretty cool.

This is the second time I tried to purchase the Phyn Plus. Both times the unit came in previously opened box. Inside the box there were spaces for two envelopes glued to the cover but only one arrived with the product in both instances. Also, the coupling were different between the two instance. In any event, I returned the product. I'm not confident about placing a previously returned/opened/used unit on my main water line.

I've had Phyn installed for over two years. Over that time they've made continuous updates to the app and the automatic detection of different water uses have improved. I've only had two incidents where the water was shut off automatically, both of these times were when my daughter decided to take a bath and left the room. Luckily the drain was open! They've also have a feature to detect small leaks which can be set at a more aggressive rate for when you're on vacation. Wish I would have had Phyn a few years ago when I paid a huge water bill because contractors left an outdoor faucet on. Full disclosure I received this unit as a beta tester but I believe the cost is worth it. All my full baths are on the second floor so any leaks would incur major damage.

    Phyn Plus is a lifesaver!!

We've been extremely impressed by the technology and artificial intelligence built into these units. It's already saved our house from 2 different leaks it's detected, not to mention running toilets and faucets that were left on by my kids or even just dripping. It's extremely sensitive and can pickup even the slightest possible issues, but it's also very smart (and continually learning) so it doesn't needlessly bother me with notifications when it's not necessary. The support team has been fantastic - I've spoken with live people every time I've called and whenever I've had an issue or question that they weren't able to immediately solve on the phone, somebody actually calls me back with a solution! Last but not least, they're constantly updating and improving the app and adding new features like freeze risk alerts and water use plus which shows how much water each fixture in my house is using every day and compares it to similar houses. I highly recommend Phyn and would never own a house again without having a Phyn inside to protect my most valuable asset. I also see one bad review on here which sounds like it was a Best Buy issue of putting returned products back onto the sales floor instead of returning them to the manufacturer, which is what I'm assuming they're supposed to do. The unit I received was brand new and had no issues.

Had my Phyn for 28 months when the pressure sensor went bad. Warranty period is 24 months and the best Phyn would do is give me a 15% discount on a new one. Well built device and works as advertised, for a while. Just be aware that you many not get as long a use out of it as you would expect for a $700 piece of equipment

Have 2 of these for 2 different homes. Not too difficult to install if you are a pretty good handyman and easy access to plumbing. Takes quite a while for system to learn and be truely automatic but once it does it works well. Customer support is good and US based and can really understand what you are asking vs a script. While I haven’t had a major water issue yet, this could save you thousands and while it seems expensive it could save you a lot of headaches.

Great Smart Addition to Our Home

As we are often away from home, I primarily had the Phyn Plus installed so the water could automatically be turned off in the event of a water leak or burst pipe. I looked at it as another form of insurance . . . hoping we wouldn’t have to use it, but being available if we needed it. Luckily, we haven’t had any catastrophic events. On one occasion, I was notified (through a text message) that Phyn had seen a continuous “low flow”. It turned out to be a toilet in an infrequently used area of our home that was running due to a sticking flush valve. Had I not been notified, that toilet could have run for weeks (or more), not only wasting a considerable amount of water. but adding significantly to my water bill. Using the Phyn App to view my water usage, I have been able to see that two toilets are using significantly more water/flush that the other two toilets. Because of the Phyn Plus, I know that I will be replacing these with more water efficient units. I would recommend the Phyn Plus to any homeowner.

    Defective - Poor Quality Control

The brand new one I received had a faulty shut off valve. Phyn sent me a new one but I was out $200 to have the plumber come back out to change it out. While speaking with Support it appears to be a common issue. Considering the cost involved to have a professional plumber install the product, you would hope they would have better quality control processes in place. They also require a $250 deposit to send the replacement out. They refund the $250 once they receive the damaged item back. I cannot recommend.
