Very satisfied with my purchase. Radio looks and sounds wonderful and can match radio color to my Toyota interior orange. A nice upgrade to freshen up my 04 4Runner. Best Buy did a great job installing both the head unit and JBL speakers in merely an hour! Radio was on sale for $199 WITH free installation! Just can’t beat that for a BT/touch screen radio IMO. Since the radio/install was only $199, I went ahead and also purchased some nice JBL GX963 6x9 speakers to replace the well-aged 14 yr. stock Toyota speakers in the front doors. With this combination both streaming of music and the radio sounds much more rich and crisp and I couldn’t be any happier. Haven’t had time to play around with the Pandora app yet or to see that I can get waze map’s on the unit yet like I have read that you can to. All in all 5/5 stars so far!!

We updated from a disappointing Kenwood to this unit and were immediately impressed and pleased with this unit from the moment it was powered on. The strength, clarity and dynamics of the sound was most noticeable. The clear, clean and sharp display makes it easy and quick to see and read. Operation of the unit is almost self intuitive and the accompanying manual (which wasn't even included with the Kenwood) can be used for any necessary reference. Having the compatibility with IOS and Android is super and being able to synch up with two different phones is very cool. The options and easy access of bluetooth, HD and sat radio coupled Pandora along with CD/DVD operation is just what the doctor ordered. We're most pleased with our choice of this unit. I'm sure with Pioneer's long and excellent reputation in car audio, we won't soon expect to be disappointed.

I made this purchase for my wife. Her car had the stock radio without an auxiliary output. Geek Squad’s installation was great and the installer showed my wife how to use the Bluetooth radio. Very user friendly. Great sound. Flawless syncing with her iPhone. She sounds super clear when she is on the phone. The touch screen is very nice and responsive. I have yet to play a DVD, but with what we have experienced so far, it is worth every single penny. I’ll return to Pioneer when I decide to upgrade mine.

Outstanding head unit, if a bit fussy

This is an excellent unit well worth the money.
I wanted something with a touch screen that integrated with Spotify, which this does well; and as I was learning to use it was very pleasantly surprised that it also displays Wase right on the screen (You do need to keep Wase running in the foreground on your phone, however). Pandora integration is excellent, HD Radio was a very nice bonus, and once you get the hang of the unit it's pretty intuitive.
There is also a remote which I found very easy to use and practical. The controls on the head unit itself again are largely intuitive and you can use it right away. However, I have found it may not be a bad idea to park in your driveway with the manual and teach yourself the more advanced features.
The unit can be fussy sometimes - my daughter had a hard time connecting her iPhone to the USB, and sometimes Spotify can be challenging to get working - but they are not deal killers. Again, I think all this comes down to learning how to use the unit. Since I had a satellite tuner already installed, I was able to install this myself by changing out the power cable and mic, and as long as you take your time and match the wires up right it will work fine..
This is optimized to work with iPhones through the USB; it will work with Android but only connecting with Bluetooth.
From a price and feature standpoint this is truly a Best Buy. Pioneer really did a great job with this. Hopefully a firmware update will come out in the near future that will make a good thing even better.

I was torn between this unit and going for an apple play version. I am so glad I didn’t waste the money on the apple play version. This one was 199 installed vs that one at $400. This one gives me navigation through Waze so I get the same thing basically for $200 less. The built in phone app works better then the one that came stock with my old car! Sounds great. Bluetooth is flawless and the display is nice too.

Good budget double DIN

I was talked out of a double DIN last time I bought a deck. Big mistake. While the sound from my Kenwood Excelon was phenomenal, the display was very hard to see and the controls were limited. This is a huge improvement - very visible display even in daytime, a much more precise 13-band EQ, and best of all, the ability to shuffle through an entire flash drive of music, and if I hit something I'm really into, I can turn off shuffle and cruise through the album until I get bored and off I go again. Mixtrax is an interesting concept, but I wasn't able to make it respect the fine-tuning settings I adjusted - how long to sit on each song before transitioning to another. It seemed to want to go way too fast. Eventually I gave up on it and did plain old shuffle all, and I am much happier.
The big downside is that the dedicated control buttons are terrible. TERRIBLE. I miss the volume knob and left/right oriented track skip buttons from my Excelon. If you have steering wheel controls, you won't care, but if like me you don't, you'll be constantly pressing the wrong button and accidentally turning the display off instead of skipping forward. Especially if you have gloves on. I was so frustrated I went and got some clear rubber bumpers to put over the key buttons so I could find them by touch, but I still end up inadvertently turning off the display if i press the track forward button haphazardly. I also bought a universal steering wheel IR remote, but sadly it doesn't appear to work. C'est la vie. I might actually be able to by a whole new steering wheel for my car that has stereo controls..

I am very impressed with the Pioneer. It is everything that was lacking in my stock unit. The install was great and in a timely fashion. The interface is easy to use. The sound is very impressive even with some of the stock speakers.

Geek squad did a nice job of installing this radio into my 2007 Rav4 The tech also installed the pioneer backup camera. The radio has lots of options, certain of them require that the EMERGENCY BRAKE be on in order to access the settings menu. I forget to set the brake and then wonder why I can't accomplish something. The app that works with the iPhone is not so straightforward. Its was ok getting WAZE onto the screen but I found that the radio screen waze was not formatted to be as useful as when I used waze app on the phone. The radio screen can be hard to see in sunlight, especially the back up camera. I found the screens to increase contrast-brightness - etc. and still not easy to read. The radio puts out nice sound and the HD radio and spotify are nice to have. The blue tooth options seem to work well. I downloaded the manual and found that it was easier to read on the computer screen, and if I needed individual pages I printed them out. In short the radio does what it is supposed to do but when I went beyond the initial screens I had a lot of frustration. YMMV

Great stereo for my needs

The primary negative thing about this stereo is that it grays out a few features that require you to have the stereo somehow hooked up to a parking brake signal. I installed this thing in a 1997 Ford Ranger. I bought some sort of adapter on Amazon to negate the parking brake safety feature JUST SO I COULD CHANGE MY DIMMING FEATURES. I have no idea why Pioneer had to put the "i'd like this to be dimmer" feature in the naughty no-no list, but there it was. I don't want to watch a DVD while I drive, but now I can I guess.. Just because I wanted the display to dim at night. Otherwise this thing behaves much like a stereo in a modern vehicle that has connectivity to your phone. It works well with my iphone 6S (just like the stereo in my 2014 Subaru.) I hooked this stereo up to some Pioneer 6x8 door speakers and rear speakers in the Ranger and I end up listening to the volume at about 15 out of 50. I also hooked it up to a powered Kicker subwoofer. All the adjustment features available on the Pioneer gave me precise control over the sound and I'm very happy. I'm using a USB stick full of .flac files to listen to my music. It works quickly and is fairly easy to navigate. The touch screen is pretty responsive. Not like using an ipad, but OK. For the couple hundred bucks I paid for this it's awesome. I didn't research other brands or models because I'm a 40 year old who doesn't have time for that stuff now. If you're like me and just don't have time for dealing with inferior products and you're not that guy that nit picks technical details, this radio will probably make you happy. I specifically wanted an HD receiver for FM so I could listen to my oldies station that lives on HD2 of another channel. Mission accomplished. I can also put dubstep music on and annoy the neighbors and whatnot, if I'm so inclined. Thumbs up Pioneer. Cool radio. Maybe make it less annoying with a legal notice and an override option for all the hidden features.

I got tired of driving and not being able to find a radio station that I could like. When it's dark and raining, it's a pain (and dangerous) to change discs. So, I decided it was time to find something else. Something that I could plug my mp3 into. Maybe more. And this was it. Not only can I connect my mp3, but with the addition of the SiriusXM tuner, I've got radio I can listen to. Also, with the purchase of a backup camera, I've got an easier way of backing out of tight spots.
There are a few idiosyncracies with the unit that I'm getting used to, and a couple of minor issues that could certainly be better, but overall, I'm very pleased with this and would certainly recommend it.
I had Best Buy install everything, so I can't comment on ease of installation. But, I am very satisfied with the work they did.

I bought this radio before going on a 40 day journey around the U.S. Best decision I could have made! It's easy to use, easy to set up (after installation), reasonably intuitive design. When hopping from one city to thto next all I had to do was hit the BSM button and it would automatically reset my presets to the strongest signal stations. Traveling for so long across multiple cities this was ideal. Not to mention I could play my own music via Bluetooth, etc. I wish they had a partnership with Amazon Music or would allow you to download your own apps, but the Spotify app works great! I couldn't of asked for a better road travel radio! (Ps I did not try to DVD player function so can't speak to its quality or functionality.)

It's a good deck, great quality sound you can her right away. Much better than my stock audio receiver was. It has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. Plus you can upgrade its functionality down the road to add stuff like gps navigation.
The pandora feature is nice. You need a phone with a solid data plan to use it though as it will chew through your phones data plan. Same with the spotify feature. I have unlimited data so it's not an issue for me and I have yet to hit verizons invisible data caps. You know the ones where they throttle your speed.
I have been having great difficulty getting the usb function to work. Still working on what to do about this. seems to be alot of googling involved and pioneer says they take no responsibility for the compatibility issues you will most definitely encounter.
I don't use the sirius function but it's there if you like satellite radio. You would need to buy a sirius receiver separately.
The HD radio function seems nice but the problem is, if you don't live in an area with superb radio signal strength you may find that all of your stations will now come in really fuzzy or not at all. I have found only 1 station in my area will even play now due to this. I have had to go into th emanual and figure out how to disable this feature so that the radio doesn't just seek digital radio broadcasts and opts for the analog signals when hd is too weak. This should be on by default.
IT has hands free calling feature and comes with a solid mic that picks up your voice fairly well. You just connect your phone to the bluetooth and if u get a call it will play over the cars sound system. Works great and makes my driving life easier.
I don't use the video playback feature as you need to install a cable to the brake system and the deck will not play unless it knows your foot is on the brake. There is a work around to this but you shouldn't be watching tv while driving. Seems pointless to have video playback on a receiver anyway.
Screen is tough to see if the suns glare hits it directly. Not much you can do about this but curse at the sun or stick to non touch screen receivers.
All in all it's a good buy in my view

This radio works really well. Major upgrade for me from my stock radio with a tape-deck adapter. Getting in my car and having my phone automatically connect and start playing is really neat and new for me, once I paired the phone once, I've never had to mess with the settings, it just works. Making calls has been great, too.
The bluetooth audio features work just fine on android, but the iPhone, apparently has the ability to use the Pandora and Spotify input methods (I've only tried Pandora). Using Pandora or Spotify through bluetooth audio on an Android, works just fine, though. The other apps that can be loaded from the phone/mirrored on the screen don't seem worth the extra effort and software that needs to be loaded on the phone. Waze on the radio screen is possible, I did it once with my old phone, but I already have my phone mounted in a nice visible place for navigation and also prefer it in Portrait orientation.
The only radio feature I miss from my stock headunit is ALS. I forget what it stands for, but it's the system that raises and lowers the volume based on your speed. I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the menus or manual of this radio, so I don't think it has this feature. There was a vehicle speed sensor wire in the harness, but it was not mentioned in any of the wiring guides where to hook it up, and I believe it only feeds info to a connected navigation system.
