    Great versatile HT receiver

I switched from a Rotel receiver due to lack of features and hdmi issues with hopes that this receiver would be close to the Rotel in terms of sound quality. In terms of features, there is no comparison. The apps for Apple and Android products are a plus, the dual hdmi outs, and multi-zone features are great as well. In terms of sound quality, which was most important to me, this receiver is on par with the Rotel (and similar entry level audiophile brands) for HT use. For 2 channel stereo listening, this receiver does a fine job, but I think there is room for improvement. Bass is fine after tweaking, but the midrange and treble lack the desired refinement.

I had been using a low/medium level A/V receiver to "get by" after purchasing my 3D smart tv While it served its purpose providing HDMI conectivity, 3D passthrough, and 5.1 digital sound, it jut did't provide the audio experience I was looking for in my home theater. After many hours and cosiderable research, I was quite confident that the Pioneer Elite series would satisfy my hunger for a real theater experience. I originally was looking at the SC-61 or SC-63, but a great deal on the SC-65 at Best Buy Magnolia settled the deal. Being so far from a Best Buy, let alone a Magnolia store required a few phone calls, some time and a road trip but as it turns out it was ll worth it. Set-up was actually pretty easy with ethernet conection and their A/VNavigator software. The automatic speaker detection/set-up ws quick, thorough, and complete. The only manual adjustment I made was setting the speakers to small (paradigm tower speakers) rather then the detected large, directing more base to the powered subwoofer. I originally considered increasing my 5.1 system to a 7.1 with front/hi speaker but the 51 fills my 20x15x9 foot room quite ncely. I have been enjoying some great movies and haven't had time to fully check out the multitude of features available with this receiver, but look forward to experimeting over time. I must mention the ipad app feature is quite nice and impressive in controling the receiver All in all, you really can't go wrong with this addition to your home theater ad I encourage anybody looking to update their system to give this a really good close look

I've always been a Pioneer fan intill I decided to step it up to the Elite line up. This receiver was defenetly by far one of the best I've heard in a while, it has enough power to shake your entire house, while keeping a clean sound free of distortion. One of the down sides of this receive was it interface it's so cheap lookin it makes the experience not so Elite, Pioneer needs to step it up alittle and inproof their menu on the elite line up such a high end receiver as the elite should have a decent interface. Other than that great receiver!!!

I'm happy with this item(got an open box which cost me almost $500 less than a new one.plenty of power/runs cool even with hours of use/picture quality almost as good as my previous onkyo reciever.features are well ahead of its time(4k/dnla/air play).I was thinking of purchasing the lower model but thought about the upcoming 4k video output(said to myself...I have to buy another unit which is 4k capable when I could pay a little more than$200).sound is great for music listening as well as movies/paired up with martin logan speakers and sub.overall a good buy for me...

This works up to high expectations. With movies, it fills most demanding needs with enough power to shake your tv room. With music, it makes you feel like your in front row of a concert. Overall, great performance but the interface is cheaply made for a high price receiver.

the unit is still fairly new and I'm working my way through it. Having difficulty getting it to read subwoofer and switching between modes without turning on/off and having to reset. Not sure ... may have defective unit... but, still too new to know for sure. Once we get it to read and in right mode... sound is awesome and unit works great. But company only offers online manual... so, we have to keep going back to computer to read manual which is a pain... would be nice to have printed manual. And, unit shouldn't need to be reset so often... this part is worrisome for long-term longevity of unit.

I got this on clearance and still expensive. It is worth the price the price due to sound quality. I wanted an upgrade from my previous onkyo powering my definitive technology floor standing 5 speaker system. This receiver does not disappoint. Our whole family has enjoyed this for watching sports events , movies, listening to music though Apple TV wireless. The sound is incredible clean and detailed. So much that we were missing. The set up at first is a little detailed but well worth it and movies are another experience. You are missing out. I've had marantz , onkyo in past and I have family members with elite and I am glad I switched.

Absolutely the best receiver I have ever owned, hands down. I love everything about this receiver plenty more than enough power, I am currently running the 84" 4k Sony tv, martin logan motion 8 center, motion 15 bookshelf speakers, motion 40 towers front, motion 12 wide front towers, motion fx side surrounds, martin logan ml2 rear surrounds, and dual (2) martin logan dynamo 500 subwoofers, samsung blu ray player, panaomax power conditioner, all of these are run by audioquest type 4 bannas and the subs I run audioquest type 1 sub connects, the front towers are ran by AudioQuest Gibraltar biwire cables with bananas and my HDMI are all ran with AudioQuest coffee cables absolutely the best system ever

Overall I'd give this receiver high marks. I guess I'm fortunate that I have a Sony Google TVs box connected so I can still listen to Sirius and Pandora or I wouldn't be as pleased. It's probably only a firmware update that they need to fix these problems but in the meantime it's a little aggravating. Apart from those couple quirks I think Pioneer did an excellent job on this receiver, both on the audio and video features front. I am a man that pays attention to detail and it's the little things with me that distinguish the difference between almost got it and spot on. Onkyo got it spot on....Pioneer almost got it.

We replaced our Elite Avs74 VSX with this Elite SC-65 to take advantage of all the wireless airplay features for our I-Phone, I-pad, and I-pod. It's really remarkable how all of these products work, and come together. We hard wired the SC-65 to our network right along with our new Samsung UN65ES8000 TV and everything works like a charm. The Geek squad will be making the final calibrations for that perfect picture. For us, pioneer elite is the only way to go.

The amount of HDMI connections will be good for when I expand my entertainment center. I currently use a five speaker system with a sub woofer a for great surround sound and the ability to go to a nine speaker system when I want to. The cost is more than I wanted to spend but I do get the ability to expand at a later date.

I was looking for a new receiver and had been eyeing this model for some time. Was able to get this on sale for a very good price. Set up was fairly straight forward but getting the surround settings for each mode was a little confusing and tedious. Overall, a very good receiver.

Its the best receiver that I have ever owned of my four previous. The quality improves as you step up in the pioneer class. There is better depth and clarity in sound. I would recommend it to new home theather buyers as a starter receiver.

The Pioneer Elite SC67 is a high quality premium AV receiver with sufficient inputs for virtually any home theter system. The automatic speaker calibration system MCACC, using the supplied microphone makes it very simple to get great sound without having to understand the complexities of audio technology..

The interface takes some getting used to, but once you have everything setup, this thing is perfect. I upgraded from a Denon 7 channel & I was pleasantly surprised that I immediately heard a difference, especially from the subwoofer. The automatic speaker level setup with included microphone takes a few minutes, but our home theater never sounded better! List price is around $1600, but I picked this up Open Box for $750. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
