Good movie worth watching and owning for the collection would recommend

Piranha is a remake and a fun one at that, filled with lots of campy humor, lots of over the top gore, also lots of T & A. So not for the younger audience.

Remember the original Piranha? It was a shameless Jaws rip off, but dang was it fun. Well here we are in the same sinking boat and I am loving it. Piranha knew exactly what kind of movie it was going to be during the filming process. Heck during the script writing, they knew it was exploitation mixed in with camp, appealing to genre, and being a total throwback to the pre nineties era "serious films". DON'T try and take this movie seriously in the tone of great story, DON'T expect the most intelligent movie you will ever watch. DO expect a great ride, DO expect mammaries galore , DO expect tons of gore- awesome death scenes. The nature of this film is a comedy. You aren't supposed to feel anguish for the characters; it is okay and expected that you laugh at the death scenes, they are over the top for a reason. The DDD gags are supposed to play to those old "throw stuff at the camera" mindset that dominated the genre before James Cameron got ahold of it. While I don't support DDD I do support the use of this mocking attempt. By the way Cameron was directing Piranha 2: The Spawning for a bit... which is hilarious that he would slam this film. Buy this film, enjoy yourself and GO WILD!

I want to say first that obviously this is not for people who are into Scorcese dramas or any type of serious films. If you don't like this movie because of the plot, or because of its absurdity, then I wanna give you a bad review on your life. This film is not about being realistic. It's about fun, gore, and nudity. If you can't understand that, then please stop and think before you buy it. The plot is ridiculous but that's the whole idea behind films like this. For me, it didn't leave me scared of going into the water or anything, it just left me laughing and cinematically satisfied. The whole movie is really funny. The acting is pretty well done, I felt. Obviously not Oscar performances, but again, you can't expect that. GET IT

I love this movie. It's funnny, with just the right amount of gore. It wiil make you think twice about going in lake or the ocean for a swim. It's a fun movie. A fair amount of nudity. Rated R for ovious reasons

didnt have high hopes when i bought it, but it was better then my expectations. the plot was simple, the acting was fair. the 3d part of it was average at most. if u like gorey b flicks and tons of nudity this is the movie for you.

This film was planned with 3D in mind, but Converted in Post Production... and it looks fantastic in 3D! It's also a remake of the Roger Corman produced original B-Movie. My father was always a horror film nut so of course his love of the genre was passed down to me. I grew up watching horror movies and one of my favorites was the original Piranha. I even have a copy of it on my mobile phone. When I had heard of the remake I was skeptical but hopeful. Sadly this movie turned out to be exactly what I hoped it would avoid becoming. Now don't get me wrong, the original film was bad. Almost MST3K bad. But that was part of it's appeal. It was a silly goofy movie that never took itself to seriously. This remake does the same. But in a way that just is not enjoyable to watch. It's cliche after cliche. It might work if they had an original sense of humor but its the same thing over and over again. A bunch of nud* college kids getting dr*nk and dancing. Sound familiar? Again, I know its making fun of 70's era horror but i've already seen this. Try something new. The plot does not stay true to the original at all. Which is not why I gave it a poor rating. It's just bad. Even for horror. Camera work is actually quite good for a film of this type. Especially the underwater shots. There are a few shots of the swarm underwater that are really creepy. Acting is average for the most part with the exception of Shue, Ving Rames, and an all too brief cameo by Richard Dreyfuss, who are all enjoyable. To be honest I didn't even bother with the extras after watching the movie. But the DVD does offer up 5 featurettes for fans to enjoy. Overall I'd say my biggest problem with the movie is that it's just disgusting. The gore, in an atempt at a dark and macbre sense of humor, is so over the top that I actually felt sick watching some of the climax scenes. The problem is that while over the top in the amount of violence on-screen at once, the gore is entirely too realistic and brutal. People attacked by the creatures look like they went through a blender and scream and cry in pain while chuncks of flesh hang from bone. Because of this, instead of being silly or funny it's just sick. That's saying alot considering I saw Day of the Dead when I was 8. I sat through Hostel. Which was only slightley more disgusting than this film. Bottom line: This movie just isn't entertaining. There are plently of intelligent, scary horror films out there that deserve your time and money. Stay away from this. *Edited for "inappropriate" content.

3D effects work in some places and fizzle in others. Mainly a good recreation of my original theatrical experience. Some color fade in 3d and blur not seen in other releases but all in all a good bluflick to have. Funny. Enjoyable. Moves with sure pacing.

My first quote pretty sums up this movie.." This movie is more about wet boobs than it is about killer fish" This is like an 80's romp but set in our times. all you see is T&A.. and if your lucky a little gore along the way. The plot is a little far fetched.. but then again witha tittle like "Piranha" what can you expect. I kept comparing it ti the original that came out in the 80's but there is no comparison...the original wins hands down. The gore factor on this movie is a bit on the high side which is apropriate for the subject matter. So if your into wet boobs & killer fish then you have come to the right place..

This movie had great effects and lots or gore. the acting was good at best . But the movie was like a adult film there wasnt a scene without boobs . But the movie was very fun and enjoyable

If you go into it expecting Casablanca or Gone with the Wind, you've completed wasted your time and money. But, if you go into it, expecting a cheesy B movie (ala the drive-in during the 70's), you have hit the jackpot. Not much story, but who needs one. If you sat up nights watching The Blob, Eight Legged Freaks, etc., you are in for a real treat:) So pull out the popcorn, the sodas and let yourself go and you'll be loving it. It's got cult classic written all over it.

This is the second remake to Piranha and it's the most fun, filled with all sorts of nudity and absolutely delightful graphic gory violence. A fun time, though it's not for everyone.

Okay going in I knew the movie was going to be bad but I didn't think it was going to be this bad.. I thought hey! Maybe the 3D will be good since they flim half of the SCENES with 3D cameras. Not the case here stuff that should of pop out of the TV just set there as the scene went on. I guess if you like cheesy acting, Gore, Blood & Crazy Fish then this is your Movie but save the extra cash & just buy the BLU-RAY Disc Only.. But then again it will cost you about the same price as the 3D Blu Ray Combo set.. ( Theres always Redbox 1$).

This was a typical B-Movie remake of a typical B-movie. But me being a horror movie fan I could not pass on it.

The best 3D action movie yet. It's Jaws gone wild. This was not my first choose 3D title, but I'm very pleased with it.

great time great movie and oh man the gore! its got everything if you like it messy. a great job updating the original and maybe even getting a better seqel from it.

I do know that this is the blue ray copy I am reviewing but every one need to know how bad the 3D part of this movie is. Well this movie could have been a excellent 3D movie but sony picture forgot to used 3D cameras. This movie had very poor 3D effects and it was too disgusting in some scenes. I agree with the freeman that The gore, is so over the top that I also felt a little sick watching some of the climax scenes. Do not buy this movie on 3D it is a waste of your money. If you have to see this movie buy it on blue ray DVD instead. This is just a sample of of how movie companies are trying to take more money from us buy making us believe that every 3D movie is made in 3D. wrong!! Please rent first..
