This movie retells the story of Ash but with a different twist. I love the way they updated the world. Pretty much all the pokemon and regions exist. It's not held back by the original 151 pokemon. Soundtrack is great and the animation and artstyle is great. Wish it looked a bit more like the xyz series because the characters look to soft. The story is original and works for the world. Only had a few issues with it but it works. Looking forward to the new adventures in this timeline.

I haven’t seen pokemon since I was in high school and that was quite a while back. After watching this again it reminded me of how I would get excited about watching it when I was a kid. Ash’s Side kicks are definitely great characters to replace brick and misty.

This story re-tells the first pokemon anime story. It does not include brock or misty so if you care about them and cant live without them stay away. Overall its a good re-telling if you can get over the character changes. I personally recommend it.

If you liked the older Pokémon movies this is definitely for you. While it comes with a new cast of characters from the original it still holds strong and is definitely one of the best Pokémon movies out there.

If you wanna see Pikachu and Ash on a fun adventure, check this movie out, it is very funny, and awesome to watch. There are a few surprises that everyone might not agree with but I enjoyed them.

Great plot, good movie to watch with the family. Starts off with Ash and pikachu just like some other pokemon movies where Ash gets first pokemon, but the ending is unheard off. Gotta watch this one.

Excellent for newer Pokemon fans! Made the perfect birtday gift for an eight year old, who had received at least two dozen other gifts. He could hardly wait to watch this one.

Takes the story we all know and changes it up, with new characters and all current pokemon in this movie as well so youll be seeing pokemon from other regions.

I grew up watching the Pokemon anime, so seeing an "origin" film like this without the inclusion of Brock and Misty just felt off. The story is perfectly okay and engaging, but it was just odd to not have those characters I've loved for all these years.

Enjoyable to watch! It doesn't follow the Series like the other movies do. Think of it as an alternative beginning to the TV series but in a movie.

This is on of the best if not the best Pokémon movies of all time. Me and my kids can watch this over and over again, and not get bored.

A gripping story. A powerful bond between trainer and pokémon. My four year old looks at me and says "Daddy, can I cry?" A moving tale for sure.

My kids enjoyed every minute of this movie. It left them with a urge to capture animals, tame them, and then force them to fight.

A very well animated movie with characters and stories that expand on the Pokemon universe. A really enjoyable movie for the whole family.

There are those that will get this for their kids or the "kid at heart". There is definitely a nostalgia factor here. However, as other have said, this blends several other versions of the Pokemon show into ONE FILM. It is hard to form NEW attachments to characters in this film as it feels "rushed" at times... even with the protagonists Ash and Pikachu. You will find yourself "filling in" the emotional aspects from your memory of these characters... this film seemingly "depends on this" at times. I would not use this as a INTRODUCTION to Pokemon for young kids... they will miss out the goodness of the Original Pokemon Series.

Fun to watch movie that reminds you of the Indigo League show back when it all started. Looks awesome on Blu Ray.

Great movie and a good deal. I grew up with Pokémon. This is a new movie with the older Pokémon and story.

Such a good jump back into my childhood. I would recommend it to anyone who grew up in the '90s.

While it does at times diverge; this is more or less a retelling of the first few episodes of Pokemon. It's a fun throwback with updated animation and well worth the $10 price tag.
