Best all around speakers. I bought these for music and movies. I spent hours in the audio room and almost bought a different brand with horn tweeters and dual 8” woofers, but I decided that even though the bass was punchier, I didn’t like the harsh aluminum tweeters. The S60s are hi-res certified, so of course they sound great. But it was the low bass rating of 27 Hz that got my attention. Being a old car stereo installer. I know how LOW bass is supposed to feel, not the cheap loud boomy kind. So the first thing I did when I received these was to play some bass sweeps to break them in. And yes you can start to hear them at 25 Hz, and by 30 Hz they are shaking the walls (I’m designing a 5.4.4 atmos system and the first .4 are bass shakers for my sofa. For me, these S60s are good enough to not need a powered subwoofer). The 3-6.25” woofer and giant port are really tuned well. These S60 are not boomy at all, just smooth low extending bass. So if you want a super loud system that your neighbors could hear, you’ll need to buy a separate powered subwoofer and have it set to pump out the boomy bass. The magnetic grill is nice. Also the design of the omnidirectional bass port means you can place them near a wall and they look awesome!
p.s. Thank you Best Buy for price matching the manufacturer’s sale, I got a great deal!

I moved to a new house the open floorplan is an acoustical nightmare so I wanted to upgrade my mains at a price midbudget that I can enjoy for awhile but yet can help out my room. WOW! Just WOW! These are extremely inpressive for theyre price point. You do need a good breakin time before really getting theyre best but once you do I was very suprised and pleased. Highs are crisp detailed and for Polk a lot less in your face then older models. Still slightly forward but understandable considering the price point. The mids amazing for its price can you get better? Yes but youd have to pay a lot more. The bass Unbelievable I can run these full range on my system. Even without my subs on they can set off my glass sensors on my home alarm! But the coherency between the ranges is amazing highs mids and lows all play well together they image well and transition fast. Can they do as good as high end? Cmon but once again youd have to pay much higher to hear the difference. Im very pleased with these and Im going to enjoy them several years before I upgrade. Also quality components and a nice juicy amplifier over just a straight up av reciever make a world of difference. Theyll sound good on an av reciever but these babies love POWER and sound AMAZING on higher end seperates or amplifiers. Thanks to theyre price you can save a bundle and if you have a good av reciever with preouts you can add in an awesome amplifier and really enjoy what these beauties can do! Seperates even better but its all about how hard you want to hit the wallet. Also I didnt quiet like the appearance in pictures but in person in my living room they look amazing. That black ash look looks amazing and I love taking the covers off I love the magnetic grills by the way. Great job Polk an amazing midpriced under $1000 per pair speaker!

I am a very technical person and I do a lot of research into a product before I buy it. These speakers were simply the best in the price range with these specs. I won't get super technical in this review, but lets just say these speakers are amazing and you can't go wrong.
I went with the S60 instead of the S50 or S55 because, to put it simply, they can produce a lower sound than the others. For example, my subwoofer is having some issues, and I often unplug it, but plug it back in for movies, I forgot to do that with a few movies and completely didn't notice at all. These speakers go DEEP, and you can feel the bass.
The mids and highs are superb as well.
I don't want to give you a lot to read, if you are on the edge about getting these, just trust me and make the jump! BUY THEM! =) Well spent tax return money!
Don't forget, they are sold in singles, you must buy two for stereo sound. Seems like a lot, but you'll never need another set of speakers again.
Buy the S20's for your surround (Those are sold in pairs) and the S30 or S35 for center.

Bought these to replace my Polk monitor 60s... Major difference in sound. The bass is really good with these speakers so the need of a sub would be optional.

We moved into a house with an open floor plan and high ceilings. the living room was close to 4000 cubic feet, with another open room behind it. Needless to say the dual 5.25" speakers couldn't fill it. We upgraded to all polk signature S60's, S15's x4 and S35 center. I love my music and movies, but I don't consider myself an audiophile. But this system is amazing! the clarity is excellent and the speakers don't even feel like they are working hard. This system is powered by a Yamaha RX-a3060 and is setup in 7.1. Listen to Bocelli's concert or Master and Commander and you will be amazed!
