Customers are saying

Customers admire the wireless capability, extended range, and easy setup of the product. It is seen as a good replacement for the original sensor bar and is compatible with the new console. However, customers have concerns about the short battery life and the auto-shutoff feature that occurs even during use. There are also some accuracy issues reported, such as the pointer or hand shaking while pointing.

Solid Sensor Bar with cool features

Overall the sesor bar is excellant. It is very sensitive and worked great with my Wii console right when I turned it on. The reason I purchased in was because the old sensor bar along with another wireless version I had purchased were not working and the remote would not register on my tv screen. After I turned on this sensor bar everything was crystal clear and worked like it did when I first got the Wii. The bar has a pretty nice power savor feature where you can set it to turn off after two hours (default) or one hour. This is great because for some games you only need the bar for a little bit while you start the game from the Wii menu. There are also setting on the bar to set a wider range which is great if you have your console in a big open room. The only drawbacks to this unit are that it is huge! It is about a foot and half long and a few inches deep. Very solid product though and worth the money.

One of the best accessories for your Wii

As far as accessories for the Wii, this should be your FIRST one to buy. But when you buy it, buy 4 rechargeable batteries, and charging station. This would make your initial purchase for the bar a bit more expensive, BUT when you look at how much you will go through batteries, especially with those lengthy game times, the batteries pay them selves off rather fast. The range of this bar is far better then the original bar that comes with the Wii. The accuracy is also much better then the original sensor bar. Now I have 2 cats, 1 of them has a small wire fetish. So I had to replace my sensor bar, I looked at getting another original, then saw this gem sitting there on the shelf. And with the price being about the same I went with the wireless bar. By far and above, this is a great buy.

    Big & easy!

This "little" bar works extremely well. I had to install one for a large theater room in a senior living community with a large overhead projector. I have the bar sitting on a small wooden ledge directly under their massive 108" projection screen. The Wii is over 40' from the bar and sits behind a wall in s small A/V room opposite the direction of their main screen. The Wii & the bar communicate perfectly. I have other wi-fi & bluetooth devices in the same proximity of the Wii and this unit has never failed the staff or the audiences that frequent the theater. The unit does draw on it's batteries quickly, however I acquired some Ni-Mh batteries and a recharger from Best Buy as well and they're in business when the batteries run down. This was a showstopper for the older folks and I'm very very happy with this inexpensive unit.

    Big Sensor Bar

Great Product, works just like the original, automatically syncs with Wii and the price is worth it alone for a wireless sensor bar. The Bad would probably be that its huge, like three times the size of the original bar. Also takes four AA batteries, wish it had a rechargeable battery.

I purchased this as a gift for my brother. He has a large living room and with the regular sensor bar you had to go half way across the room to use it. This one is great, now he can sit on his sofa and play his Wii!

Bought this wireless sensor bar because I lost my other one when I moved, and it works great. Being wireless lets you place this in the best spot needed to play the Wii games. I would highly recommend it.

Provides an excellent alternative to stock sensor

I have a rather large living room and the stock sensor just wouldn't let us spread out and play. This item was extremely easy to get up and running. Simply install batteries and turn on, it's that simple. We easily get 10-15' play now and at a much wider range than before. We have also noticed that the controllers are more accurate then they use to be. I would definitely buy if your looking for an alternative to the stock sensor.

    Makes Using Your Remote Easy

I hooked up my Wii in about 10 minutes. Instead of using the sensor bar that came with the Wii, I used this. You don''t even have to syncronize your remotes when using this. Just turn it on, and your ready to go. It senses the remote and you can use it standing close or far away. It gives you the choice by simpling sliding the buttons on the sensor. The Wii is so easy to use, and this just makes it that much easier to get a faster start to your gaming experience.

    Eats through batteries

Although the device works for its intended purpose, I don't think the pros outweigh the cons. Pros: wireless, adjustable emitter width to compensate for large or small rooms, easy to set up. Cons: independent of the console so it does not turn on/off when you turn the console on/off, self-timer automatically turns itself off - your only choice is 1 or 2 hours - there's no choice to keep it on until you turn it off, burns through batteries quickly - 4 AA alkaline (Duracell/Energizer) per week of moderate use, battery compartment is difficult to open.

This is a great design for tight spaces and can be placed wherever it is needed. Wide range and short range capabilities make this ideal for any size space. Friends ran out and bought this the day after they saw mine. Much better than the wired one included with the Wii originally. I will purchase rechargeable batteries to use with this.

I Love This Wii Sensor Bar!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this last night and just set it up with our 2nd new Wii. I LOVE it!! I had noticed that the original Wii sensor bar was making my icon from the remote scatter rather wildly over the screen on same new Wii. So decided to look for a a different one and discovered this at Best Buy, it had just come in. You will not be disappointed in this great sensor bar and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of one - VERY accurate. It even has a power saving feature you can set of turning sensor bar off automatically within 1 or 2 hours to save power. The blue light will start to blink when it's ready to shut down, which gives you time to press the power button once again so it stays on. There is also a wide view and a regular view selector for the sensing ability. Just slide a button on the top and that's it. You can't go wrong folks at the $19.99 price! This is a winner and I am off to buy another one for my old Wii console! Linda

    Best Wireless Bar

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I tried a couple of other wireless bars for Wii and they were made very cheaply and didn't work as they should. This product is well-made and the Wiimote works much better with this than with the bar that came with my system. I am a VERY picky consumer and I can tell you that if you buy this product, you will not be disappointed. The batteries last about 4 hours with rechargeables, then it turns off. You can keep turning it on and off for another hour or so in order to maximize the longevity. You will save money by using rechargeables even if they have to be replaced every few days.

    Sucks batteries big time

We liked this for its range. It really did pick up from even the farthest corners of our large living room. Unfortunately, our main use of our Wii is to access Netflix in our living room. This means that the sensor bar always has to be on. When it shuts off, you have to across the room and turn it back on to navigate the Netflix menus. We ended up having to replace the batteries twice in the one week that we had this sensor bar. If they were to make a wired version of this, I'd be overjoyed :)

2nd unit worked as advertised. - Caveats

I have used 2 different brands of wireless sensor bars from Best Buy. Both have experienced IR emitter failures. The second unit failed out of the box. I recommend you insert 4 AA batteries before leaving the store and powering the unit on. The IR emitters can be seen with a digital camera (appears as white light).. There should be 3 emitters on each side. This would also be the first thing to look at, if you are experiencing control problems with your WI remote.

It has very good range, much better than the RocketFish version that I returned. The only con for me is that it does go through batteries quickly. I recommend rechargeable AA's.
