Great For All Ages!

Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox One is great for all ages! Both my 39 yr old husband and my 7 yr old son play this game pretty much non-stop! I bought a copy of the game for my 8 yr old nephew as well, and the 2 cousins love playing it online together. The only downside to the online game play is that you cannot play some of the online multiplayer battles/missions with your friends (like Walker Assault). It's either 1 online player vs 1 online player (like Heros vs. Villians) or it's a free for all with Walker Assault. Otherwise this game is great!!.

After playing all the Modes I found myself at a loss. With no story. A pallet of generic rebels and storm troopers. The customization portion is shallow and questionable for a 60 dollar retail release. The replay value has been left to the will of the player. Offering very little upgrades. Battles can be repetitive, but fun with the right group of friends. the graphics are gorgeous and the sound beckons a truly cannon experience from the old movies. However this steep price is hard to swollow given its lack of depth in all the right areas. The music is atrocious blend of noise and unrecognizable backtracks. To the point that I muted it out completely. It's a great gamefor about 10 hours. Then for me it lost its luster. I wish they could have done more with the game. With the dlc on the way. It is the most expensive and reprehensibly distant from the vision I once had when I heard of its release. If you love Star Wars this will be a game to add to your collection. Even if it seems to be sorely novelty.

I've played this game for around 30-40 hours and while it's fun with friends the content does get boring after a while. Very limited customization and all the blasters feel the same just different fire rates. I would recommend getting this game on sale maybe around 29.99 and having some friends to play with. On a positive note, the sounds are amazing and they kept true to most of the aesthetics in the game. It has a bunch of different game mode my personal favorite being heroes vs. villains. It's a fun game but I can't justify the full price plus also throwing down the season pass money.

Let me start by saying I am a casual Star Wars fan, so playing in this universe is fun for me. However it was not an instant buy for me solely because it's a Star Wars game. I have probably put 10 hours into it so far. It is a little disappointing that there is no campaign, but the multiplayer is solid. Also I enjoyed playing the "Missions" using online co-op, which could pass as a replacement for a campaign (but not really). I think even if there was a campaign, the main draw would be the multiplayer anyways. Overall the multiplayer is pretty easy to get into, and even as an average skill player I do not feel like I am always getting murdered by the higher skill players. It was super exciting in my first few matches to join a game and come running over a hill seeing Blaster fire flying through the sky and an all out battle between stormtroopers and rebels. Some of the menus are a little confusing and the unlock/upgrade system seems to not allow you to make changes outside of the multiplayer lobby (although maybe I'm missing something). Overall the gameplay is tons of fun and there are plenty of exciting "Star Wars" moments.

Best Game of 2015! - For Casual Gamers

Awesome graphics, great gameplay, tons to unlock. What's not to like? I played all of the old Battlefronts and don't see what all the complaints are about. No campaign? who cares, this is 2015! not 2000, it's all about online multiplayer. Playing by yourself just isn't as fun as multiplayer, unless its an RPG or great storyline driven game. The original battlefronts never had much of a campaign anyway. Too expensive? boohoo at least the quality in the maps are spot on. At least your paying a true price for a near perfect representation of the original trilogy. The game comes with 5 maps + 4 promised DLC's for $110. The game will be huge by the time its done. No clone wars? Who cares, this makes room for Star Wars Battlefront 2 (I hope). I like that they are being very detailed with the quality of the maps and game immersion thus far. No space battles, yes that's a bummer, let's I hope its in a DLC. There's lots of potential here with the upcoming DLC's. The game even has its own free app with a mini game that's very fun and addicting. This game is especially great for the casual gamer who doesn't have 1000's of hours to pour into a game. This is a pickup, play, and have fun type of game and it's perfect. Great job EA!

Overall the game is beautiful, and a fun play; however you need to have online access to truly enjoy the game. This is where the game is meant to be played, with others. There is not solo campaign to work through which is a drag, however there are missions that consist of waves of enemies you can either complete solo, or multiplayer either online or through a local connection.
Summary:
Positives: Great graphics, fun online game modes, fun missions to complete on the side.
Negatives: Really a one dimensional game with no campaign options. Can become repetitive, so a palate cleanser is needed.

The game is not worth $60. You have to get the season pass to get the most out of it, sadly if you pay full price for the game and season pass you'll be looking at $100-$120 price.

The graphics and multiplayer is full of nonstop repetitive action! Missions such as Battlefronts Survival game mode is fun when teaming up with a friend to take on waves of stormtroopers. The only downside is that it lacks a "true" campaign mode. So if you love multiplayer and don't care so much for a story then this Star Wars game is for you!

This game is a blast, pardon the pun. It is a little light on content, there's only a few maps and only a few guns that mostly feel the same, but when you are speeding through a smoke cloud in an x-wing and avoiding laser fire or pushing on a control point with Darth Vader on your heels, you'll forget all about that.

Star Wars Battlefront for XBox One is a nice game but lacks in some areas. Dice did a good job with making the audio and graphics look and sound great. While the game is well designed for multiplayer on XBox Live, the overall game lacks in content. The game only has 4 maps and no campaign option available. With only 4 maps available, it seems to fail to offer new experiences in the game, and not having a campaign option made the other modes seem redundant.
While I would purchase the game if I had it to do over, it is not worth the $60 price point.

Star Wars: Battlefront is a really fun game but has many annoying issues. The game has amazing graphics and incredible sounds. Everything from the look of the sparkling snow to the sound of blaster fire is stunning. The details in the game, however big or small, are a great addition to the already beautiful world. A few of them include an awesome aerial battle over Jakku, Ewoks and wildlife on Endor, and Jawas and wildlife on Tatooine. There are also a few easter eggs you can find around some of the maps. The game sounds really good. When you hear the beeping of a Thermal Imploder you get ready for one of the best sounds in video games. The blaster fire sounds great and so does the sizzle of the blaster when it overheats. The gameplay is simple and easy to grasp making it possible for the most casual gamers to play and enjoy. There are a total of 12 maps across 9 game modes in the basic game. You get 2 new maps and 1 new game mode in the free Jakku DLC. The February update introduced a new map for a total of 15 maps across 10 game modes. The February update also fixed some issues/bugs and made some changes to some of the weapons and star cards. With DLC and another update releasing in March 2015 you have more to look forward to in Star Wars: Battlefront.
For the annoying issues this game has, the worst has to be the spawns. Whether you spawn really far away from your objective or you spawn right in front of or behind an enemy is super frustrating. As for balance in the games, when you join a game in progress you will usually end up joining a losing side that everybody left. So if you are someone who cares about your win/loss ratio this may be a bit of a problem for you. For the smaller game modes, 8v8 or 6v6, if you are playing alone you may find yourself up against a group of friends working together. Depending on your team you might be okay but when its small groups, friends working together and communicating can make a big difference. Partner spawning is a great feature when its available. Quite a lot of the time when I play my partner is unavailable because they are either in a vehicle or turret, in battle, or dead. This can be frustrating when you want to get back into the action quickly. When partner spawn is available it still isn't always the best option. You may die when you spawn because someone just called down an orbital strike or threw a grenade where your partner was standing. Sometimes your partner might have just spawned so partner spawning will still spawn you away from the battle. Worst yet is when you get stuck with a partner who just runs to the outside of the map and messes around the whole game. A few times while playing I got stuck between rocks or inside of things. This can be frustrating especially if you have a good kill streak going or if you are a hero/hero guard. There aren't that many maps per game mode so you will find yourself playing the same maps often. This is especially annoying on Supremacy and Walker Assault where you just switch sides on the current map after you win/lose the game. Hopefully with the updates and DLC there will be enough maps and modes to keep the game from getting stale too fast. Another big issue this game has is the bugs and glitches. Once I became Darth Vader on Hero Hunt and I glitched through the world and fell to my death. Also another annoying bug is some achievements/trophies don't unlock. On last issue is that the servers can sometimes be flaky. A few smaller complaints are not having the ability to adjust the music volume; you only having the ability to turn it on/off. I don't like the fact that the stormtroopers can remove their helmets. I understand the need for customization but I would rather have the option to change details on the stormtroopers vs them removing their helmets.
A few things I would like to see in either updates or DLC would be new star cards such as, one that could make you run faster, one that would increase melee damage, and a rapid fire one. I would like to see more heroes added too such as, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda. I would also like to see the roll mechanic added from Star Wars: Battlefront II. Getting away from grenades and dodging laser fire isn't very easy without it. Another thing I would like to see added would be more customization options or more characters/skins. One more thing I would like to see added would be a 1v3 rancor fight. Either where someone controls the rancor against 3 stormtroopers/rebels or 3 storm/troopers against an AI rancor. It probably won't ever happen but I do hope to see a rancor somewhere in the game at least.
Pros:
- Its Star Wars!
- Awesome Graphics/sounds
Cons:
- Bad Spawns
- Not enough maps
- Partner Spawn isn't always available
- Lots of bugs/issues that need to be fixed
- Servers can be flaky
In conclusion, I have had a lot of fun with my time playing Star Wars: Battlefront. The game is beautiful and it sounds great. I wish there were more maps for my favorite game modes. I hope through updates and DLC there will be enough maps to keep me entertained for many more hours. I would recommend playing this game with friends if you can because it should give you an edge over your enemies. The bugs/glitches need to be addressed and fixed. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this game to any fan of star wars and causal shooters. 3 out of 5 Stars

Overall a pretty fun game. There is not an actual campaign mode which kind of sucks but not a big deal to me and shouldn't be to any Star Wars junkie because you can play through various iconic moments from the movies, which is awesome. You can play as your favorite heroes (or villains) and live out whatever hero fantasies you've ever lived out in your head. The multiplayer is great! There are tons of game modes and unlockable items that make it really fun.
With all of that being said, I wouldn't give this game 5 stars because ultimately the long term playability is not very great. When I buy a $60 game, playability is the most important factor to me and while there is plenty to do in this game, I found myself going back to NBA 2k16, Fallout 4, and COD Black Ops 3 more. That could be a personal thing though.
Bottom line: great game. I highly recommend it, especially to any Star Wars fans, but don't expect to put a ton of time it.

This might be the most disappointing game that I've ever purchased. It's nowhere near as fun as the first two.
First the good:
The graphics are beautiful, great color and lighting. The scenery is everything you would expect on a next-gen platform.
The sound effects are also a plus. On a nice set of headphones, you'll hear so many layers of sound, all crisp and rich.
The physics are just OK. Playing as an FPS, it's a little clunky but good enough IMO.
The new Survival mode is pretty fun, especially Co-op. I was pleasantly surprised to see this gametype. It's probably the best feature of this new version.
The bad:
There's really no campaign. The original didn't really have a story either, but there was at least an overall objective as you played through the various planets. Here, everything is divided into separate, unrelated Missions. Missions IMO is a misnomer here because there really is no mission other than to kill all enemies before you run out of allies.
Solo play is boring. Even with Hero play, where you can play as Luke, Han, Leia, Darth Vadar, Boba Fett, and surprisingly Emporer Palpatine (Do you remember Emporer Palpatine being on the front lines for any of these battles? Me neither. But, he's still kinda fun to play.), gets kind of blah after a few play throughs. The maps are small, tiny compared to the first 2 Battlefronts. The scale of the battle is so much smaller and much less enjoyable.
One of the big reasons is that there are no vehicles in Missions. The original series had vehicles available on the map, from Tie Fighters and X-Wings to full blown AT-ATs and AT-TEs. It was so much fun to jump into one of those and do battle on ground or in the air. This version is all on foot. Very boring, IMO.
There's very little strategy to Missions, other than don't get killed. The original had you doing battle, but also had objectives on the map to capture. Capturing an objective gave you an additional spawn point. The more objectives you held, the greater the advantage to your side.
Multiplayer is nothing special. Yes, the battles are larger scale, but still nothing more than the standard kill, gain XP, repeat. The unlocks aren't satisfying enough to keep going for more than a few days.
Overall the game is disappointing because there's just not much to it. In a short period of time, I had covered all the game modes and without ever having a good reason to keep playing. Survival mode is the exception, but only in Co-op. I compared this game to the original quite a bit, but that's only because the original was so much fun. If you want to try it out, I'd wait until the price comes down which I think will be very soon.

I pre-ordered this game and played it for hours when I first got it. The sounds and visuals of the game got me hooked instantly. It was like being submersed in the Star Wars universe and as a Star Wars and FPS fan, I thought the game was the perfect game for me.
However, after playing for a couple weeks I started becoming bored with the game as there are only a handful of maps and blasters and every game seems to be the same. There is also no campaign mode besides a few missions that are, in my opinion, fairly boring.
That being said, I do not regret buying the game because it is still a solid game, fun to play for a few hours every couple of days and the sounds and visuals of the game are truly spectacular.

The new battlefront is better and worse than the original two titles in certain ways. Better in the sense that the game play is fantastic, fun with friends, different modes to try out, and brings the "Battlefield" experience that Dice has delivered before. The aerial combat is loads of fun too. They hit the nail on the head with details and heroic characters (although Chewy is missing). It's worse in that there's only 3 maps to play on certain multiplayer modes. Given that each mode uses a different part of those maps, it gets dry when you've played through them a dozen times. Perhaps there is free DLC coming, but I remember BF2 having a lot of maps. Overall it's a fun game to play with your friends, lots of stuff to unlock and tinker with, vehicles are a blast and well balanced. But the lack of maps out of the box for the more popular games modes makes it a tad dry.

The graphics for Battlefront are great and really make you feel like you're in the movies. The online play is great and the servers are pretty good given the large lobbies. The only reason I did not give a 5 star ranking is the lack of campaign.
