    Stay Away from Pro Control Remote Controls

    STAY AWAY from these remote controls!!! I own a pro24.z remote control from this company. It cannot be programmed by the end user, like myself; it requires special proprietary software from the manufacturer. I originally purchased the remote control from the same company that installed my home theater. The remote control worked well until I needed to replace the battery, at which time much of the programming was somehow reset. Unfortunately, the company that sold me the remote control is no longer in business to help me reprogram the remote. I have searched endlessly to find another company to help. I even contacted the distributors listed on the Pro Control website to find help, but that was unsuccessful. As a last ditch effort, I called the manufacturer (Pro Control) to ask for a local contact who could help. The manufacturer told me that it doesn't have any name to provide me and that I need to reach out to the local distributors for help. I had already unsuccessfully done that. The manufacturer provided no help and zero support! So now I'm left with a very expensive remote control that I cannot use because it cannot be programmed by the end user and because I cannot find any company that supports the remote control or who has access to the proprietary software. DO NOT BUY A REMOTE CONTROL FROM THIS COMPANY unless you plan to throw it away when it needs programming. Very, very frustrating!!!!!!

    Terrible. Purchased the 24.r remote, similar to the one reviewed by the other user. No where did any Magnolia associate make it known that the end user could not customize, install, program, or update the remote. The software is only available to installers. That means you buy the remote, and then pay an additional fee for some 'professional' to program it to work with your stuff. So now a perfectly good remote is going back to the store. If you are an end user who likes to do your own work instead of rely on a so called 'professional', this remote will not work for you. At a MINIMUM, the software should be available to the person that bought the remote. I bought it. I own it. I get the final say in how its programmed or updated...not the installer. Id stick to Logitech or URC or some other company that places the power with the end user where it should be.

    What a joke! I spoke to a Magnolia Salesperson who knew very little about ANY of the remotes. I chose a Pro Control pro24.Z and prolink.z after doing some research on my own. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL INSTALLER AND THE SOFTWARE IS NOT INCLUDED!!! NO ONE AT BEST BUY TOLD ME THAT I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY GEEK SQUAD $200 TO START AND $100 PER ADD ON. I will be returning both tomorrow!!!

    I've been using my ProControl R + Base Station for about 2 years, and am yet to have any problems with it. I read the other reviews on here, and they are giving these bad reviews because the customer can't program the remote by themselves? Maybe Best Buy should have been up front with them about this, but it was my understanding that they will program the remote for me, because I don't want to. I would recommend this remote to anyone. It's WAY MORE RELIABLE than any Harmony/ Logitec...
