Customers are impressed with the BlackWidow Chroma Keyboard's high-quality build, vibrant lighting options, and extensive customization features. Many appreciate the satisfying key feel, although some find the clicky keys a bit loud. While the software is praised for its ease of use, the relatively high price point is a common concern among buyers.

I absolutely love this thing. I am typing on it for this review. Not only are the colors bright and the visuals spectacular, it is a great everyday keyboard. I personally love the green MX Cherry switches, I was unsure what they would feel like but the closest I could compare to would be brown switches. They have the click that I personally like but not too loud where you are waking up your neighbors. It will wake up whoever is in the same room.. possibly the next room over though. Software is easy and really quite impressive with profiles for the keyboard available online for users to upload their unique creations and for you to enjoy them and wow, can some of them amaze you. I personally love the equalizer setup where the keys actually light up with the sounds/music from the computer. It does this through software and is really fairly easy to setup. I didn't think I would end up enjoyign this keyboard as much as I have and even after getting the Corsair K70 RGB (which is what I was intentionally waiting for to replace this) I ended up keeping it because I really do like it that much. It is pretty expensive but now theres a new tenkeyless tournament edition which should be cheaper and smaller for travelling purposes. I plan on getting that vs. the K65 since they will be very similar to the K70. I use my K70 as the workhorse and this one for showing off to friends and for the light shows. If you are deciding between this and the K70 (both great boards IMO) than this is the one for show. This thing is bright at night and will really entertain anyone who gets to see it. The K70 would probably be the better choice if you're merely using it for your own pleasures and no one will get to see it. All in all, you really can't go wrong with either of these. Pleasantly surprised and I was already excited to have one, just more happy than expected.

They are not joking when they say that the keys are clicky! If you have a problem with loud keys, do not buy this.
I honestly love this keyboard so much. I cried a little bit when I first opened it up and plugged it into my system. It's so beautiful. And the little 'tak tak tak tak tak' of the keys is something I really missed ( my laptop had awfully quiet keys to the point that i wouldn't realize i was pressing certain buttons ). But I love this keyboard more than I've ever loved a keyboard before.
PROS:
- SUPER customizeable lights ( i spent hours going through different settings for my keyboard just for the fun of it )
- there's so many different settings, it's beautiful
- you can customize your macros keys on the side of the keyboard to make short cuts for settings or programs, it's cool.
- SUPER CLICKY KEYS ! I LOVE IT. I honestly cannot stop typing just for the sake of hearing the 'tak tak tak tak tak' of the keys. It is so joyous
- the lights are able to be dimmed. there's a whole range of "off" all the way to "BRIGHT" which is super bright. that way you don't blind yourself with it.
- swift control of the keys. i've never had such great reaction time for games before, it's like a whole new world.
- great for typing anything in the dark, because you can actually see the keys (lol)
- super easy to set up and customize.
CONS:
- the keys ARE loud. if you do NOT like clicky keys do NOT buy this. please look for the version that comes with the cushioned keys so it doesn't click.
- the wave function of the lights can give motion sickness ( but that probably me personally ). WHILE it is super gorgeous, it does make me nauseous so i don't usually put it on the wave setting.
- if you have epilepsy / photosensitive epilepsy, do NOT use this keyboard with the reactive setting, the wave setting, or the ripple effect. the flashing lights may trigger a seizure, and from experience, that wouldn't be good. PLEASE BE CAREFUL with your settings on this keyboard!!!
OVERALL:
- Amazing quality, beautiful keyboard. I love it. I cherish it. I want to own it forever and ever.
- Great for the price! Couldn't have asked for anything better.
Final Notes:
- It is beautiful. But please be careful if you have light sensitivities.
- I have epilepsy and was wary about buying this keyboard, but the breathing effects and the static effects for the lights are good options if lights/photos can trigger seizures.
- You can dim the brightness and change the speed of the effects to make things easier on your eyes and head. Just please be careful if you buy this.

This keyboard might cost a lot of money, but let me tell you it is absolutely worth the price. When you buy a BlackWidow Chroma your buying for all the great features and the superb quality. The lighting is amazing; no other keyboard's lighting can compare to this one's. Lastly, the mechanical keys are smooth and make typing fun. If your looking for a keyboard, not even for gaming just for typing, this is the one to get.

The keyboard is great for gaming and everyday computer use. The color is awesome. If you like the keyboard you should also purchase the mouse and mouse pad all light up in rainbow colors, which is what made us purchase the keyboard. We like different.

This keyboard is solid. It's heavy and doesn't move around on the desk. My wife thinks it is noisy when I have my headphones and I'm banging away at 130 WPM on this mechanical keyboard. I used a pretty fancy major brand wireless keyboard before this one and this was well worth the switch for me. I have my keys memorized for over 20 years but at night sometimes after hours of gaming I'm tired and barely could keep my head up and I like how I can see the backlight helping me see a special character key. Everything is customizable which is amazing. This keyboard was a big win for me. The only negative is it was reallly expensive.

Razer BlackWidow Keyboard (Chroma)

Really I bought this for the mechanical keys to begin with. I used to work @ a company that had Cherry keyboards about 16 years ago. I was the IT Field Technician for PCO Div II and they sent me out to local companies to perform onsite IT work. I had one company that had some old systems with keyboards that had a RJ-11 type connection to them via a curly phone cord. Those were Cherry keyboards and I fell in love with the mechanical keys. I have NEVER felt another keyboard like that again until I walked into this store and went over and pressed one of the keys on this BlackWidow Chroma. I had to have it. I thought It was expensive. I did not care it felt so wonderful. Then I read the box and then, I saw that it had lights. Now, OH MY! I have those wonderful mechanical keys. So great feeling, so responsive, so perfect sounding when I type. And they have the most awesome LED/s completely configurable. Then, its a gaming keyboard with all these profile keys, gaming settings, ghosting/rollover. Wow-macros and on the fly.
Once you see and touch or just touch one of these you will NEVER go back to any other keyboard for the rest of your life. I guarantee it. You can turn off the effects and gaming stuff if you want. But, NO WAY, I'm taking full advantage of it. Then once you get home and register it for warranty== more special surprises await you. I am now not only an ASUS-ROG/AMD GAMING fan. I am now a ASUS-ROG/AMD GAMING/RAZERZONE fan. All my new builds will have these components. I need the Arifat 7.1 Surround Sound , One of the MIice and the Mouse Pad. And also one of those Mics. I know where I'm spending my next few paychecks. Thank you Razer for having that box with openings to touch the keys. I am forever grateful. Love it. And so will you!1!!

Pros: Great feel, super fast, clicky technology
Cons: Price, annoys cohabitants.
I struggled with this. I struggled to the point of nightmares. I would toss and turn over how much this keyboard cost.
"But, ConsolePeasant," you ask, "Why not just buy the regular Blackwidow Ultimate?"
Because you see I've been waiting for a keyboard like this. I game, I work and I go to school and often times I am on the computer until sundown without stopping to turn on the lights. A back-lit keyboard is necessary, but obviously I could get one of those on the cheap. However, I still look down at the keys often enough while running certain games and programs that a custom key pattern was desirable.
Oh, the customizations you will make. I tried the APEX with game zones and it was too restricting. With this I get to have all my custom key patterns and a color array for different tasks. (Green to turn my music up, yellow to turn it down, red to mute it.)
The clicking is ooooh so satisfying. I feel nostalgic hearing the clicking and thinking of my mom's old typewriter. It's totally meta.

This Keyboard is amazing, Ya the lighting brings you in but then you get it home and start typing on it. The keys have great action and response, also the layout is not compact you actually have space between them.
You can set it up to do almost anything in the way of lighting the keys, several settings can be chosen from a well thought out interface for it and the Razer Chroma mouse. I came boxed well and little time spent getting it to function. But with all the features it could be a long time exploring what settings suit you. Another fantastic product from Razer.

The razer chroma has many ways of customizing your leds the way you like and offers many different styles to play with. The razer synapse is a bit difficult to use at first but works well after a while.
Pros: LEDs are bright, fully customizable LEDs, keys are really responsive and gives the true mechanical feel.
Cons: Keyboard attracts lots of oil and fingerprint marks, profiles are synced to therazer software and not onto the on board drive. Price is expensive.

My first mechanical keyboard. The colors look amazing, probably more than a 50 year old gamer needed, but the sale price was very good. After multiple Logitech membrane keyboards for more than a decade, I didn't know what I was missing. The light touch on the keys make for a very responsive game experience. The software is easy to figure out. Lot's of lighting profiles to download from people more creative than me. Easy to switch between profiles on the fly. Stay away from ripple effect for games, to distracting. If the lights aren't a feature you want, I would recommend looking at the other version of this without the RGB. The build quality is excellent. I have not compared various cherry switches, but these feel fantastic. They are a little loud if that is a concern for some. I would have liked more than 1 USB pass thru. I would rate it perfect if it had the volume wheel like the Logitech or Corsair. I would absolutely recommend it for any gamer looking for a high quality, premium keyboard.

Fantastic Keyboard - LOUD & RESPONSIVE

I absolutely love this keyboard! This is for anyone who likes ultra "clicky" [LOUD] with deliberate/forceful typing. The mechanisms are strong and resistive. I forgot how nice these keyboards USED to be in the late 80's/early 90's. This is a "gamer" keyboard with a great deal of components that I will never use such as macro keys. I love the led color schemes that can be controlled via software. I use this keyboard strictly for business, so again, it is overkill for me but it is incredibly responsive. I also use a gaming mouse for business as well. Quality gaming accessories, in my opinion, are often built better and more precise than the cheaper alternatives.
I tested/chose this product using the in-store displays as well as online reviews from gaming and modding sources. I also purchased this on sale.
Quick Character Profile:
Tech/Hardware-savvy, builds and mods computers & Software
Office/OS applications "expert" user
Photoshop "heavy" user
and serious gamer (just not with this keyboard)

This keyboard is my second Razer keyboard and I have to say that the feel of it is great! Feels like the typing is very precise and leaves small room for typos. I have used it the last couple of days for my gaming and it is definitely worth the money. The color on this item is phenomenal!

Let's be honest, you didn't buy this tech just for the responsivness. You bought it for the lightshow-and it delivers. There's tons of color options, from colored key-mapping, to reactive light effects, to crazy rainbow wave patterns. The possibilities are endless.
The Customization UX is both intuitive and simple. Just select your effect, whether constant or reactive, choose your colors with multiple layer options, determine brightness and reaction speed, then hit save and watch the magic.
The only con I can think of is the noise when hitting keys, but that's not really an issue for me. I say that only in case other buyers prefer a silent option.

After seeing this in the store, I knew it was something I wanted, but never got the courage to drop the money on it. I'm so used to purchasing cheap keyboards (mostly Logitech), which do the job fine most of the time. I never thought of keyboards to be "fun" to use. But after rummaging around various $10-50 options and trying out a couple, I decided to go all in and get the Razer keyboard with color-changing options.
Am I glad for the decision! The keys feel suburb, with a quick, smooth response and an amazing click-clack sound that's not too annoyingly loud, but not muffled-sounding either. The keyboard also has a dedicated set of M1-M5 keys along the left for macros, which do nothing until set. I do find myself using my left pinky to accidentally click M1 when I want the left CTRL or SHIFT, but it's something I'll gladly get used to. And there's a series of functions along the F1-F12 keys that can be activated with the dedicated function key near the spacebar, which do things like control volume or activate macro recording or gaming mode.
But the best part about this keyboard is the backlight coloring! I absolutely love the rainbow colors, and really appreciate the Razer software allowing a variety of preset effects. The typical one I leave on is a constant rainbow wave that transitions left to right. But it can also be set to show one color at a time with fade transitions, or to ripple out color from keys when pressed, etc. The software has an API, so you can also find other color profiles that change up the coloring for different effects. Going further, someone even made a playable Snake game using just backlight colors and the arrow keys. The software lets you get in and individually set some sort of coloring and effect on every single key or sets of keys to make your own profile, and there are a lot of cool options if you really want to customize things! They even have settings to turn on color profiles for certain games!
Aside from that, the wired cord is nicely thick and threaded. It has both a USB port and a headphone jack on the right side, useful for quick interfacing (the opposite end plugging into two USB ports and the headphone jack on your machine to make it all work).
The only issue I really had was one key didn't really respond (the number 6 in the horizontal set). So after typing and testing it, I just exchanged it for a new keyboard, tested every key, and it works great.
This keyboard matches perfectly with my Razer - Naga Epic Chroma Wireless MMO Gaming Mouse and Razer - Firefly Gaming Mouse Pad, both of which can be combined with the keyboard to match lighting colors for certain profiles. Overall, this is a must-have keyboard for any gaming enthusiast and anybody who loves rainbow colors!

Bought this for the new build. I've never had a keyboard that was so comfortable and responsive to type on. That being said, it's very impressive on what you can do with the lighting on the keys. Complete 100% customization key (and Razer logo) lighting to fit whatever you will be using the board for. And not to mention that it is mechanical and is built to last. If I did have one complaint, it is that there seems to be a new update for the software for the board every couple of says. But that's on Razer.
Is a little bit pricey, but good PC parts are always expensive. But you always get your money's worth.

I exchanged my Corsair Straffe RGB for this Razer mechanical keyboard.
I must say that my decision was correct. Corsair used cherry mx keys which are pretty silent. In Razer you get the clicky feeling of a pure mechanical keyboard. Typing on this keyboard is a real joy.
RGB lights are like icing on the cake. Additional benefits include the usb port and audio ports in the keyboard itself.
