A Gamer's Perfect 75% Keyboard

I had the chance to try out the Razer BlackWidow V4 keyboard, and after some testing, I think I can say its one of Razers best keyboards yet.
The design is truly beautiful. The compact 75% layout size is perfect for my desk. It includes media buttons and a volume knob, which makes it super useful. The build quality is excellent, with an aluminum build and plastic bottom. Plus, the wrist rest is one of the softest I’ve used, and it stays securely in place with magnets.
One of the standout features is the hot-swap switches. Razer has finally joined the custom keyboard market with this model, and it’s a fantastic move. The Orange switches that come with the keyboard are very satisfying for both typing and gaming. They deliver a nice, tactile thoc” with every keystroke, making it a pleasure to use whether I’m typing an email or jumping into a game. The stabilizers are pre-lubed, allowing a smooth travel on larger keys, though the switches themselves aren’t lubed, which could be a downside for some. The hot-swap feature makes customizing this keyboard a breeze. I even swapped in some old keycaps and the process was effortless with the included keycap and switch puller.
Another thing Razer does really well is RGB lighting. The BlackWidow V4 comes with individually customizable RGB backlit keys that are some of the best I’ve seen. The lighting on the sides adds a nice flair, and with the Razer Synapse software, you can adjust the lighting to fit your needs. I love setting up lighting profiles for specific games so that I don’t have to pause every time to check which key does what.
It also has an OLED display in the top-right corner, which can show notifs, track volume skip music tracks, or adjust lighting. This is a super useful addition and looks so clean. The OLED screen is fully customizable through Razer Synapse, so you can set it up with animations, system controls, or lighting effects.
The Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% keyboard is a very slick device all around. It stands out thanks to its responsiveness, hot-swap capability, and adjustable RGB lighting. This model is difficult to top, regardless of whether you're searching for a gaming keyboard or just want a keyboard that looks fantastic on your desk.

I have a ton of razor product now and this just adds to an already happy situation. This keyboard is amazing. Comes with the wrist. Rest that goes underneath the keyboard. I already love it. For that. I don't need any more reasoning. It is only 75%. It feels built more for gaming and doesn't have the number keys to the right. But if that's my biggest complaint that's going to be my only complaint. I love the colors. The easy to connect Razer just makes a very good product. Now the biggest thing is this OLED display with Razer command. Dial in the top right corner. They couldn't just put in a simple volume up volume down command key button up here. They had to put a little display. This thing is super cool. I'm not sure where they're going with this but I see this little feature getting bigger or being spread about the keyboard to do other functions and things. I really like it. I think it adds a little something and it shows off the elite gamer you are by having a product like this is version 4 of the Black widow pro. I think I had a old version back in the day but I can see where Razer is already thinking further and further ahead. Highly extremely definitely recommend.

What An Amazing Keyboard From Razer

This is the keyboard I have been dreaming of. I have tried a lot of them but none are anywhere close to the Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro 75% Wireless Hot-Swappable Gaming Keyboard. It's small footprint frees up space on my desk while its RGB and Synapse 4 software make it come alive.
I was quite surprised at the weight of this keyboard when I first opened the package. It is made of a metal and recycled plastic frame, is fully customizable and comes with 3 spare Razer Orange Tactile Mechanical Switches along with a 2-in-1 keycap switch puller. The Blackwidow has 16.8 million colors available that allow you to customize the look of the keyboard and its two side color bars. A USB a to Type C cable is included for wired use, an included wireless adapter can be used to achieve a 4k KHzm polling rate and the keyboard can also connect to your computer via a Bluetooth dongle or through your computer directly if it is Bluetooth equipped. When the keyboard is in wired mode, system vitals are available via an OLED screen for viewing but not when in Bluetooth mode use.
A new OLED display screen situated on the top right hand side of the keyboard allows for the user to control system vitals like volume, OLED brightness, keyboard backlighting brightness, and track selector which are scrolled through via a side mounted dial/wheel. Using the free Razer Synapse 4 software, other options are available for selection using the dial.
The Razer Blackwidow keyboard is the best gaming keyboard I have had the pleasure to use and review and will take me quite a while to get through all of the adjustments and settings available to the user. It has a wonderful profile, the mechanical keys are solid and a joy to use. I can't recommend this Razer product highly enough to you and is a great keyboard to buy at this price!

I have used various mechanical keyboards over the past few years and this is the best one that I have used so far. I also like the fact that it is wireless because I just prefer wireless and not a hardcore gamer where latency might be an issue. I haven't noticed any latency issues though with uses the wireless dongle or Bluetooth. This is a 75% keyboard which isn't my favorite style I prefer TKL because it has more space but after using this I don't mind. It is mostly the same as a TKL in terms of buttons just condensed.
Inside the box:
The keyboard itself
USB C to USB C cable
Wireless dongle with USB C input
Wrist rest
Tool I guess to remove the key caps along with a few extra keys
Onto the keyboard itself it is a 75% keyboard which means it should be a full size keyboard minus the num pad and a tad smaller than a TKL keyboard. It just has some keys that are between the letters and num pad as functions and condenses the arrow keys and right Shift key. After using it for a while I have gotten used to it. It is a Razer keyboard so of course it has the lighting and integrated in their software. It also has a small OLED panel on the top right which i just keep as for volume control because my monitor has it hidden in settings.

Razer hit it out of the park with the BlackWidow V4 Pro keyboard. Not only is it one of the best mechanical keyboards I've ever typed on, but the mode indicator display adds a bit of whimsey and fun to the mix. Razer's lighting is some of the best and easiest in the business to deal with, the wireless connectivity works great across a desk or across a room, and it's infinitely comfortable to use. If anything's a drawback, it's the weight of the keyboard's chassis. All in all though, a win.
Unboxing is a decent experience. The wireless receiver, charge cable, and wrist rest all come in smaller boxes while the keyboard itself is shrouded in a plastic bag. While I would prefer a paper wrap over plastic, it still works and kept the contents clean. You'll also find 3 extra switches in the box.
Setup is straightforward, but keep in mind you need to charge the keyboard before using it wirelessly. It does allow for charging while connected wirelessly, or you can forego the wireless connectivity and use it wired as well. Razer's Chroma is easy enough to use and Synapse makes it easy to change macros, polling modes, and update the keyboard firmware. Bluetooth mode is also handy for tablets and smartphones. The wrist rest is magnetically attached.
Usage is also straightfoward. Wireless works well no matter if you're a desktop or couch PC gamer. Wired works perfectly. RGB effects were easily configured, unlike some other RGB management programs. Bluetooth paired easily to an iPad 9th gen. Changing what the OLED display shows was nice, but I left it set to what looks like the game Defender because of it being a fun touch.
Polling is 500 hz for Bluetooth, 1000 hz for wired, and 4000 hz for wireless connections. I didn't notice as much of a difference between 1000 and 4000 as I did for 500 and 1000. Synapse does warn you that 2000 and 4000 hz modes can take a hit on performance, but I didn't notice any difference with even my slowest test system in the house (i7 4770-equivalent Xeon E3-1275 V3 running Windows 10 with 24GB memory and Radeon 560 4GB).
This is also a weighty beast at a little over 2 pounds (about 1 kg for the metric crowd). It is built solidly enough to justify that weight - I could not make the chassis flex.
If there's anything I could knock this keyboard for, it's the price. It's definitely a premium keyboard and is priced as such, but I'd expect either an alternative set of keycaps in the box or a completely metal chassis.
When it comes down to it though, the Razer BlackWidow V4 lives up to being every bit of a premium gaming keyboard.

The Razer - BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% Wireless Orange Switch Gaming Keyboard with Hot-Swappable Design - Black, practically screams high quality. Inside the well designed box is the keyboard, a wrist rest, a very high quality USB A to C cable, a wireless dongle, key puller, quick start guide, user manual, and a sticker pack. The quick start guide is easy to use, and the dongle downloaded the required software onto my PC without any drama at all. My keyboard came with 37% battery life, so I put it on to charge overnight before using it. After charging it up I quick glanced through the quick guide instructions, plugged in the dongle, set the keyboard to the correct setting, and everything just worked. I love the back ground lighting, and the fact that I can easily turn the brightness up and down with the included scroll wheel and screen in the upper right hand side of the keyboard. There is also a select button that changes the functions of the scroll wheel, and the scroll wheel itself is also press able to toggle the various options on and off. The key presses are nice and clicky, and the build quality and stiffness of the keyboard body is excellent. The 75% size is perfect, the keyboard itself is basically 100% but the number pad is gone, but I think that's a very smart design, as if I wanted to I could get a dedicated number pad to compliment this keyboard, or I can just use the upper row of numbers. This keyboard is the perfect size for throwing into my backpack to use with my laptop for on the go gaming, and it works great for just typing on as well... I like the fact that it also uses Bluetooth to connect, or it can also be connected via the USB cable as well. Razor has really raised the bar with the keyboard!

The Razer - BlackWidow V4 Pro wireless gaming keyboard is a great option, especially for people who are limited on desk space. You get ample control features from such a compact gaming keyboard, What's even better is the integrated display that you can custamize to have even greater control, and even check comuter vitals.
I've been wanting a wireless gaming keyboard for some time now because I also use my computer to get some work done. I love the ability to switch from work to gaming in an instance. No more having to lug around a wired keyboard. The keyboard light display is beuatiful and really sets the gaming ambiance off. Noth the keys and underside of the keyboard light up and it even includes a magnetic wrist set. No more worrying about breaking tabs!
If you want to take things even further, you can completely modify the Razer - BlackWidow V4 Pro wireless keyboard to your likings. It disassembles really easy which is also great for cleaning purposes.
With the holidays right around the corner, this would make a perfect gift for any gamer. I would highly recommend the Razer - BlackWidow V4 Pro to anyone.

I've been trying a bunch of new keyboards from various manufacturers lately but the BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% Wireless with orange switches is quickly becoming my go to keyboard.
If you are invested into the Razer ecosystem this could be one to consider. I love that it can connect 1 of 3 ways... wired, Bluetooth or by the included 2.4Ghz transceiver. Unlike some of the transceivers that plug directly into your USB, the Razer one is connected via the included USB-C to USB-A cable (which is the same cable you can use to do a wired connection).
A few of the really cool features...
! - the small OLED screen which can be programmed via Synapse with one of a few provided graphics which some can be customized
! - the scroll wheel next to the OLED screen which is also customizable - I primarily use it for volume control but can be used for on screen scrolling, next track/previous track to name a few
! - the button next to the wheel toggles the wheel function
I've never used orange switches before but I can say they are quickly becoming one of my favorites. The operation is snappy. Within the Synapse software you can adjust the RGB effects and backlighting brightness. You can adjust polling rate up to 1000Hz making key press data sent extremely fast. When gaming fast is better!!!
Synapse also lets you switch the normal operation to standard or in-game mode. This allows you to toggle the Win key off during game play not to mention the dreaded Alt-F4 which will exit the program you are in... like killing a game really quick. Also locking out Alt-Tab but I use that often even when gaming.
The 75% form factor gives you more desktop real estate (or in my case a keyboard/mouse tray) for your mouse.
While I initially had issues with the installation really all you need to know is to upgrade to Synapse 4.0 and have it launch when your system boots up and you will be golden.
Really glad I picked this one up. A welcome addition to my gaming gear.

Great wireless gaming keyboard

Like most other PC gamers out there, I've used quite a few different keyboards. Each had their own uniqueness to the them but I've never used a wireless one before so this was a treat.
I have various configuration of keyboards from 100%, tenkeyless and 75% wired. Personally, the 100% size fits me the best however that's for normal "work" related usage. For gaming, I feel the 75% works best for me.
Using this keyboard for a bit now, I can see the benefits of using this smaller keyboard layout for gaming. For one, there's less keys to worry about. Most keys are the WASD ones along with a few others but the smaller keyboard, visually, just makes better sense IMO
Aside from the RGB, which is a must for any gaming keyboard, you have the ability to swap keycaps on this one. I'm not too savvy on which keycaps work/feel better however, should I want to, it's nice knowing I have this option for upgraded performance.
Key clicks are clicky but but not too clicky. Just the right balance I think. As far as the OLED display/dial, I think it's OK but it's a bit too small for usage I think. Good to easily see what settings you've applied to your keyboard. I use it to display system temps/info for now.
Connectivity has been good so far. Haven't had any issues with lag or dropped connection which is nice. Overall, pretty nice intro to wireless gaming keyboard for me.

I have used several types of gaming keyboards both wired and wireless and this one is prbably one of the better devices I have used. Not only is it compact and small enough so it doesnt take up a huge foot print on your gaming desk set up, its also a lower profile. However that doesnt mean anything when it comes to the capability of the keyboard and gaming. Just because its compact, it still packs a punch when it comes to performance and features. The extra keys to switch out for functional keys is a nice touch and makes it easy with the included tool. What I loved about this was the right side status screen which showed messages that could be of the game I am playing or even from my fellow gamers and was at keyboard level so I can easily spot them. The coloring of the keys and interchangeable features made this easy to use and sync with my system and this being wireless, I had no cords to fumble wtih and it easily sync up with my gaming computer with no issues. In the end this is a great compact gaming keyboard that makes game play seamless.

NOT worth the price.

I cannot stand behind Razer charging $300 for a 75% keyboard with flaws...I give this a 1 star for several reasons below.
1. The Pricetag.
I don't know what Razer is thinking with that $300 price for a 75% keyboard. I understand it has their new Gen3 Orange switches which do indeed feel fantastic, but it doesn't even come close to validating the price being that high.
2. Input Delay
This keyboard trails significantly behind others when it comes to consistency of your keystrokes registering in your game. While the gap is within milliseconds, this is also something you should consider when you are spending $300 on a keyboard designed for gaming. Their Huntsman V3 is significantly faster with response time and can adjust the actuation point.
3. Synapse 4
Just like what happened with Synapse 3, Synapse 4 is buggy. Some users experience issues with the multiconnect feature allowing them to connect up to 3 different devices. It doesn't register or show up or just randomly disconnects. There is noticeable lag between Synapse 4 and this keyboard currently, which will be worked out with future updates, but why would you spend $300 on a keyboard now, when it doesn't meet the performance standard right out of the box??
4. Razer Quality Control
Razer as of late has been slacking on their Quality Control area with their products. They have moved from making quality, long lasting products, to gaming products that have a lifespan of less than their warranty. I don't know what change was made with Razer internally to have them make the decision of lowering the quality of their product while charging way over premium price...but they need to revert ASAP.
5. Better Keyboards Out There
Just like with every company that has competition in the gaming peripheral space, Razer is falling way behind. If you are looking for an amazing keyboard, with the fastest response time for games, and having even more features than any razer product... Look up the Wooting 80HE.
I have been a customer to Wooting since their 60HE release and I have never seen a gaming company so dedicated to making sure that not only their products perform to our expectations, but they are products of quality. Their product support and QA announcements to their customers are so transparent, that when they found out a keyboard batch was shipped out in a courier bag rather than a box, they told every customer in that batch that if the product arrived damaged in any way, let them know and they will replace it for free, no questions asked. The best part....ALL of their keyboards are cheaper than this...and if you like the Razer Chroma lighting, their keyboards sync with it too.
Razer needs to do better...because this...is just a blatant slap in the face to their customers.

Ultimate customization

As the name implies, the Razer Black Widow V4 Pro 75% is a compact keyboard that is about 75% the size of a full-size keyboard. This means it takes up less space on your desk yet it still packs a lot of features in a small space.
It can operate as a wired, 2.4ghz wireless, or a Bluetooth-enabled keyboard. It has an aluminum top-plate for a nice solid feel and two layers of sound deadening material. The keys have a nice matte finish, "click" nicely, and have a slight rough texture to them. It has two-position riser feet plus rubber grips and comes with a magnetic wrist support. I really like the wrist support as I ALWAYS rest my wrists like I'm not supposed to! The RGB lighting not only illuminates the letter on the keys, but also the background behind the keys, and the outside edges of the keyboard itself.
On the top, right corner is a small OLED screen that's not only functional but easy to use. Using the mode button on the right side of the keyboard and the dial just above it, you can cycle through the multiple modes - volume, OLED and lighting brightness, track-selection, zoom, and apps. After selecting a mode, the dial allows you to make selections within that mode.
This keyboard offers the ultimate in customization - much more than I will ever need! Straight from the box, it is stock with orange tactile switches which are fine for me. However, if that's not your thing, you can easily swap them out for other 3-pin or 5-pin switches - even different brands! The back is held on (securely) with just 8 screws so Razer has made it really easy to make changes inside the keyboard. They even supply the tool to swap out keys.
The free Razer software opens the door to additional customization.
The Razer Chroma app provides up to 16.8 million colors and 8 different patterns to design the keyboard to your liking. For an immersive gaming experience, combine this with Chroma RGB integrated games for a truly amazing experience.
Synapse 4 is a hardware configuration tool that allows you to use shortcuts, macros, and modules for faster loading times and yet even more customization. One of my favorite features is the snap-tap mode. When this is turned on, if you accidentally hit opposing keys (like "A"/strafe left and "D"/ strafe right) at the same time, it will take the previous/last input as the priority. There's also a gaming mode switch which disables certain keys (like the Windows key) when playing a game. I'm a big fan of this as well since I often "fat-finger" and accidentally hit this one while in the middle of a game.
I'd heard of keyboard customization before but didn't realize there were so many options. With the Razer Black Widow V4 Pro 75%, the possibilities seem endless.

Do I like chunky keyboards? I think I do. This thing weighs two pounds and is 1.6 inches in height which makes this RGB keyboard a beast next to all the other keyboards on my desk. This is definitely not a keyboard you want to travel with.
The clack of the keys when typing reminds me of my typing class in the 80’s on mechanical keyboards but we certainly didn’t have this level of color back then. I must admit this is the first keyboard I’ve used with an OLED screen built in and frankly its a bit gimmicky. As soon as power is supplied to the keyboard a playable side scrolling mini-game appears that reminds me of R-Type. Controlling the display is handled by a scroll wheel and a button on the right hand side of the keyboard.
The keyboard supports connections via USB-C to USB-A, Bluetooth 5.1 or True 4K Hz wireless using a toggle switch found on the left-top side of the keyboard allowing you to connect to pretty much anything though Apple products are not officially supported.
It’s comfortable to game on, comes with 3 spare switches, and a 2-in-1 keycap and switch puller, along with a comfy plush leatherette wrist rest.

In a world filled with RGB mechanical keyboards, it is hard to stand out above the rest. I was hopeful that Razer, being a well known gaming brand, would hit this one out of the park with their BlackWidow V4 wireless keyboard. Especially with a $300+ pricetag, you would expect quite a swanky gaming keyboard! Well, sadly, that is not really what is delivered. At most, it is an average gaming keyboard with some nice orange switches that feel great. But with a cheap design, cheap parts, hard to use software and abysmal battery life, this is far from what I and probably most would expect from a Razer keyboard at this price point.
First, let's talk about the build quality/design. The only good thing this keyboard has going in terms of design/quality is the magnetic leather wrist pad. This is really nifty and it stays in place well and is very comfortable and a nice leather material. However, the rest of the keyboard, bleh. All other keyboards I have owned in this price range are at least made of a nice metal frame. This is a cheap plastic frame, with everything else cheap and plastic about it from the LCD screen, to the body, to the switches etc. When I first lifted it out of the box, I was so shocked how light it was because of the lack of metal pieces which makes this feel cheap. Also, having the OLED switcher button right on the right side is sooo annoying, I constantly keep hitting it when I use my mouse and it always changes the functions because of it.
Battery life... sucks. After 1 day of just typical office work, not even gaming here or using all the features of the keyboard, I drain about 60% battery, even with dimming the OLED and LED on the keys. Now when you try to use Synapse with it and game and use all the cool features, say bye bye to your battery!! You might get away with one gaming session before a charge is needed, which is... pointless, why have a wireless keyboard if it is going to die after one gaming session? Also, you can't use bluetooth to get most of these features and have to opt for the wifi dongle.
The app is confusing to use, but aren't all RGB keyboard software? :P But no really, it is hard to navigate, Razer can't make up their mind on how to design a good app, first they combined chroma and synapse, now they are separate again, the macro features are very hard to understand.
The good thing about this keyboard is.... the switches!! I do really love these switches, they are extremely quiet, tactile, responsive, and also the input lag is non existent on the keyboard. This is both in typing and gaming. But, if I wanted to spend $300 for an orange switch keyboard, I would've just built it myself for that price and had a much better build quality.
If you already have a Razer keyboard, don't upgrade to this. If you are thinking of going to a Razer keyboard, don't get this. Get this only if it is on sale for half off, that is all it's worth.

It has horrible battery life, and switches still double register key presses despite Razer saying they fixed this issue. It also does not support mouse/keyboard pairing through the dongle as advertised. Don’t waste $300 on this piece of garbage.
