Customers are enthusiastic about the Wolverine Ultimate controller's high-quality build, ease of use, and customizable features, frequently praising its comfortable feel and appealing RGB lighting. However, some users reported issues with stick drift and button responsiveness, while others found the wired connection and paddle placement less than ideal. The controller's size also received mixed reviews, with some finding it too large or too small for their hands. Overall, the positive feedback on the controller's design and feel is tempered by concerns about its durability and ergonomics.

Good controller but smaller hands beware

I love all the features of this controller. I love the response of the buttons. I love the back (under) buttons layout. However, my hands did not love this controller. It felt like a stretch to hit the trigger button, followed by the R1. I know this is mostly to me having small hands, so I don't blame the controller.
It comes with a nice case, and extra directional/thumbsticks.
This is a good controller and the customization is a nice touch. However, I feel like a PS4-type controller is a better fit for my hand.

I bought this controller to replace my aging Elite Series 1 controller. This controller fits great in the hands and the joysticks worked very well. Unfortunately, I ended up returning it because of the placement of the back buttons/pads. They are far too centrally located, and it was making me change my grip to reach them. I guess I am too used to the positioning of the paddles on the Elite controller. Most of the time I would just hold this controller like a regular controller, which defeated the purpose of spending extra money for the additional buttons for a tactical advantage. Many years ago I had tried the Razer Wildcat controller, and that had better placement of the back buttons/triggers. Sadly, that controller stopped working after 2 days, and that turned me off of Razer products for a while.
The additional bumper buttons on top are a genius idea in my opinion. I wish more controllers would do that, if it isn't patented.
Overall, this Razer Wolverine is such a potentially great controller, and if you are upgrading from a standard controller, you may be able to "learn" to use the buttons in their current position. For me, however, it was too much of a change. One last minor con is that the chroma effect--while looking very cool--does get a bit distracting/annoying.
I still recommend this controller because if it works for you, then it will be a huge improvement over the standard controller. I hope in the future Razer makes some slight adjustments to the rear button placement. I would consider such a controller in the future.

So let me start off by saying it was a long week of trying to figure out what controller I should buy after seeing all the horrible reviews on the elite 2! So I have this one a shot because it just seemed more durable and I really didn’t see a whole lot of people complaining about it not being durable or breaking in the first 2 weeks of using it. It took me a little bit to get used to the paddles on the back of this controller but other than that it’s just so simple and easy to use. I’d totally recommend this over the elite series 2. Of you are looking for durability and wanting to focus on first person shooters then this would be your best bet hands down.

I just got the controller in the mail, and am extremely impressed with the design.
Now, this controller may be an Xbox controller, but really, it's made in preference of PC gamers. The buttons don't click like an xbox controller, more like a PC mouse. Also, given it's a wired controller, PC gamers will probably find that far more acceptable than an Xbox Gamer will. So to those saying this is an acceptable alternative to the Xbox Elite Controller, I doubt it.
As for me though, I am absolutely in love with the design. Having the extra buttons to map means a chance to map powers to those buttons far more easier than clicking down the joysticks. I probably could also map inventory to those buttons, I can't wait to get into them.
The controller feels right for my hands, very comfortable to reach all buttons necessary.
I haven't plugged the controller in yet, because my PC is still on the way (I ordered this in a massive first time REAL gamer set up) So I am looking forward to that. Really grateful in the mean time that this comes with a hard case, glad to know it will be safe while I wait for the PC to arrive and then wait for the geek squad to install all the upgrades I bought for it.
Only taking a star away because when I just opened the mail package, I found a giant scratch across the Razer box, and the edges were scuffed good.
The edges being scuffed I could just leave on the carrier, but a giant scratch across the box? That's on Razer. Please do better with that in the future because ordering Razer products for PC gamers is an experience, and it's a little nerve wracking when my box has such damage to it. I immediately recorded a video the second I saw it, worried that the controller might be damaged as well.
(Not posting unless I plug the controller in and it turns out damaged.)

Why are you reading this just get it!! Cheaper than a scuff and the build quality is amazing. I've probably put 600hrs of Warzone on this with zero issues. I would go through PS4 controllers in 2-3mos before the sticks went dead.

Smaller than your typical Xbox controller, therefore easier for PS users to get comfortable with. Light enough for all day gaming. The cons of it are within the programming. Changing colors? Easy. Assigning buttons? Not so easy. With programmable buttons available, you'd think it would be as easy as, say, the Astro C40 TR. But, no. Would I recommend? Yes. But with a caveat that you need to be accustomed to digging for instructional videos online for basically every aspect of programming.

This is an average controller (fits well in your hands) with some features that I don’t use (eg audio jack). The “ABXY” buttons are not as crisp as the buttons on the “Chroma” controller, but the mappable paddles are like those on the Chroma and are a nice touch. I don’t mind the usb cable. This one uses a micro usb connector to the controller. I prefer usb-c like the chroma has. Overall I like the Chroma controller over the “ultimate.”

Writing this review on 1/3/2023. This controller is still my go to for all my gaming. It's comfortable, responsive for all game genres, and looks cool. Over a year using it and no sign of wear for me. Still going strong.

I initially bought this controller to replace my Elite with broken shoulder bumpers. It feels good and well made. However, the underside paddles are very different from the Elite, and also requires a longer reach. I tried to get accustomed to the feel but my competitive game suffered in the meantime. The LED looked cool but you're not going to care while you are playing and looking at your TV.

I don't know what to say about this other than i play a lot of rocket league and this controller is ... perfect.
the extra inside bumper buttons are great. the tactile gaming-mouse feel to all of the buttons is amazing, the analog sticks feel way more sturdy
This is genuinely much better than my elite series 1 controller, and another friend had already sold his series 2 elite to get this controller (which was enough convincing to make me take a leap on a 3rd party controller)
This is better than any controller microsoft has released since the xbox 1 came out, aside from needing to be wired (i'm perfectly fine with a wired controller)
This is the controller you want if you want "the best" -- IMO

I really like the placement and feel of the extra buttons, controller feels great in my hands and quickly overtook my Astro C40 as my primary controller. However it has some major flaws, first and imho the worst is the fact that you can only map the extra buttons to current controller buttons. Meaning that you CANNOT program any keyboard strokes, macros, etc. The second flaw is the price and the fact that it's wired, for the retail price(I bought it on sale) it should be wireless.

I'm a mouse/keyboard player but use this controller for my racing and flying games. Fantastic build quality and performance. This controller is heavy and solid feeling with excellent switches and control sticks. The only downside is that it requires it's own app to configure rather than working through Synapse on PC. The app is not as fully featured as Synapse but it allows complete configuration and basic Chroma control. I wasn't sure how I'd like a wired controller after using a bluetooth Xbox controller but it's actually much less hassle than dealing with PC bluetooth and the Xbox controller.

Bought this on sale a few weeks ago hoping it would improve my game play online. Old habits die hard and I forget about the additional programmable buttons on this controller. Overall, it is a very nice controller. I’d prefer it to be wireless, but hey, I knew it wasn’t when I bought it. A tad expensive for a “wired” controller. However, the cord is plenty long and sturdy. It seems to be braided and has a quick disconnect feature if you have pets or children to worry about tripping over it. Similar feature to the old Xbox 360 wired controllers. Build quality is excellent. Response is excellent. The Razer Xbox app you need to download for it is simple to use if you want to map buttons, lighting etc.

Just go get it. Is it wired? Yes. Would it be cooler if it was wireless? Yes. Would it be neater if the controller cord was longer than 10 feet? Yes. With all that said, this is hands down the best controller I have ever used and I have been gaming for decades. I was a big fan of the xbox elite and xbox elite 2 but I ran into shoulder button issues. My awesome Best Buy warranty fixed that. So, I turned in my last Elite 2 and then gave this controller a shot and I am not looking back. 6 programmable buttons. The controller feels great, sticks feel great and the buttons feel great. Run out today and get it. As a matter of fact, I will probably another one so I can have a back up. Love it!!!

Have spent over $200 on other Elite Pro Controllers, not anymore. So glad Razer came out with this. Have been a Razer girl for a long time and will only stick with Razer. Best controller I have gotten. No input lag, easy to use and set up. Lot of mobility and good price! Have had absolutely no issues.
