I was happily surprised at how good this game is. After the first RDR I was expecting pretty much more of the same (which wouldn't be a bad thing), but this is a better game. I didn't know this was 2 disks, so I immediately knew this would be bigger than the original. The graphics and game play are better, bigger, and a deeper experience. I'd read some reviews before buying, but wasn't totally prepared for this gaming experience. I won't go into deep details since I have only been several hours of the game, and you can find better comprehensive reviews here or on gaming sites. I can tell you that you won't be disappointed if you invest in this chapter of Red Dead. It looks fantastic on the PS5, too.

I have wanted this game since it's release but had such a huge amount of games I hadn't played yet I held off. Now finally having the chance to play it is my new go to game. The detail they put into the little things in this game is incredible. From taking a small drink of whiskey, riding a horse drunk, dirt and grime, the list goes on and on. From a story perspective I have still yet to finish main story due to the sheer amount of other tasks this game gives you that is just as immersive. I'm having a blast and so will you.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece that seamlessly weaves a gripping narrative with unparalleled attention to detail. The game's vast open-world landscape is a breathtaking canvas, showcasing stunning visuals that bring the Old West to life. Every meticulous detail, from the weather effects to the realistic animal behavior, contributes to an immersive experience. The compelling storyline, rich character development, and moral choices create an emotional depth rarely seen in gaming. RDR2 is not just a game; it's an epic journey that sets a new standard for storytelling and realism in the gaming industry.

Read Dead Redemption 2 is a monumental achievement in building a living, breathing world, and having a wonderfully scripted story play out within it. While RDR2 overachieves in giving you an enormous expanse with tons of things to do, much like other Read dead and GTA games, it succeeds even more in its fabulous story and characters. It is one of the best looking games I've ever played, and is just a great work of art through and through. The controls are a bit tough to get used to, but it is well worth it.

I was a big fan of RDR, played hundreds of hours with it and loved to just wander around, hunt, pick flowers and just explore, taking my time to advance Through the main quest and enjoying the great story telling. I loved the Sergio Leone atmosphere and southern great west ambience. RDR2 is so similar but so different in many ways. In this prequel, you are Arthur Morgan, a key member of the Van der Linde gang, the gang John Marston turned away from. This is set several years before RDR and still has the same great story telling though the ambience is very different from the first hame and closer to that of a True Grit (Jeff Bridges' version) with the addition of the group dynamic with its animosities. The characters usually have interesting back stories and you see them evolving as the story moves along. You can still hunt and pick flowers, though flower picking is a lot more difficult than in the first RDR. The game dynamics are almost identical to the first one. The world is huge and diverse, from the mountains of Colorado, to the swamps of Louisiana, through Virgina and a carribean island, there is a lot to explore and feast your eyes on. I must say though that I miss new Austin and Mexico from the first game. The ambience of the prequel is just slightly less engaging and immersive for me; the loner cowboy in the old west type story suits me a little better. I am easily over 70 hours in and just barely scratched the surface of the game and can easily play an additional 100 to 200 hours before feeling like I need to move on. This is rare for me now that I am older and have a ton of other things to do besides playing Video Games.

This game has been a long time coming and it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the original Red Dead Redemption back in 2010 but I had to play in increments to prevent myself from getting bored while wondering around. In RDR2, there isn't boredom, there's adventure when you want it and serenity when you want some downtime. The story starts off with a gradual pace but after Chapter III, it really gets going. With each new area discovered on the map, I was amazed to see what the new town or cities held for me in my Western adventure. And the details! I implore the player to savor the littlest details that a lot of people might take for granted. The displacement of mud and snow around your feet as you walk, the dried blood that stains your hands and or clothing upon hunting or getting into a fight with another bandit really needs to be seen. When a thunderstorm rolls in, you will set up a tent just to take in the wonderful sounds of the rain pounding on the tent fabric as lightning flashes in the distance. The soundtrack changes pace depending on what is occurring around you which makes you feel like you are n the most epic western story ever. There are some issues like the somewhat clunky controls but I suggest you go into the settings and calibrate them to your liking. There is also the issue with the HDR but currently I am playing on my PS4 Pro with the HDR turned off until Rockstar updates the game as they have promised. If you are looking for a deep open world that engulfs you then this will do it. I'm a huge fan of escapism and Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best ways to escape after a long day.

Stunning visuals, which is what I expected from this developer at the end of a console generation. What I didn’t expect was how different this game would be. It’s part action game, part movie, and part life simulator. If you are expecting GTAV in the Wild West, you may be disappointed. But, if you want to play something that doesn’t look or feel like anything you’ve ever played before, this is well worth the time and investment.

I haven't finished RD2 and likely won't for many, many months so my review isn't for the game as a whole. Overall, so far, RD2 is amazing. Not so much as a "game" but more as an experience. An interactive deep and interesting story unfolding all around you. Unlike most games, this is designed from the ground up to pull you into the world of Red Dead and yup live it. That means they're isn't always action. There isn't always things to force you to keep moving in a specific direction. Yes, be you can continue the story as you want but you can also live hundreds of other stories along the way, at your own pace, as you want. And even just slow down and enjoy the beautiful world you're in. Go fishing, hunt or just explore. Not many games have you show down your pace and get lost in a world like this. There are no flashing icons to tell you to hurry up to the next check point or quest. No timers. You just enter areas/towns/camps and become part of the stories as it's happening. It's honestly a bit difficult to explain but it's incredible to get lost in. This game might not be the right choice for those with ADD or those that need constant action and tasks in a non-stop way though.

This game is worth every penny. The amount of content here is staggering, and it's all weaved together masterfully. It's rare you get a game that has stunning graphics, a cohesive in-depth story, memorable characters, slick combat, and an open world full of content you actually care to explore. Red dead II checks every single box and coincidentally sets a standard for the rest of the video game industry.

Visually, maybe the greatest game ever. The world building is also some of the best (if not THE best) ever seen in a game. That being said, the controls are not very intuitive and some aspects of the game can be rather tedious (the long distances one must travel for missions). Even taking that into account, it is hard to not give the game a 5/5. The story and world are 'can't miss' experiences.

I've been adoring this game. The writing, story, characters, graphics, and whole experience are all incredible. The main character is fantastic. There's so much to do and see! My only gripe is how heavy the controls can feel, but once you get the hang of things, they feel pretty alright. Can't recommend this game enough. Well worth a purchase if you like any other Rockstar games.

What a game. I've played it through three times and I never get tired of it. I had loosely played Rockstar games like GTA Online & GTA 4, but never fully dived into the story. I expected an over the top, stupid & meaningless cowboy adventure, and I did NOT expect what I was given. The emotional beats hit me harder than most media I've consumed, and I won't spoil anything but man I was shocked at every big set piece the game threw at me. And it NEVER stopped. I'm still amazed. What a game.

If you enjoy gaming (even just casually), movies, books, or any kind of storytelling then you owe it to yourself to experience this masterpiece! It's years ahead of current-gen gaming and movies/storytelling alike. The last time we saw anything on this level was the Uncharted series and The Last of Us by Naughty Dog along with Rockstars' previous release; Grand Theft Auto V. It starts out by letting you get used to the great experience you're about to explore by giving you 2-3 hours of a linear opener (Chapter One) that not only explains the basic controls and feel but also lays out the base of a great story to come. You can easily sink 100's of hours in this huge experience exploring the vast beautiful world of the west in the early 1900s. There's so much to do & that's just the single-player experience, when you've finished that, there's Red Dead Online'! A huge open world with friends and foes alike! Masterpiece doesn't begin to explain this gem!

First things first, this game is so realistic that I half expected tumbleweeds to roll through my living room while playing. The graphics are so jaw-droppingly gorgeous that I couldn't help but stare at the sunset for way too long, completely forgetting I had a mission to complete. Sorry, Arthur, your horse can wait a bit longer! Speaking of Arthur Morgan, our protagonist, he's the definition of a cowboy with heart and charm. He's got more personality than a saloon full of rowdy cowpokes. I found myself getting emotionally attached to him and his ragtag gang of outlaws faster than a bullet leaves a revolver. Now, let's talk about the world they've created. It's vast, breathtaking, and full of surprises. I rode through lush valleys, galloped across dusty plains, and stumbled upon hidden treasures that even the most seasoned gold digger would envy. But hey, be careful not to go off the beaten path for too long, unless you want to become dinner for a hungry bear or end up tangling with a group of overzealous bandits. One thing that had me chuckling like a drunken cowboy was the random encounters. From a grumpy fella trying to find his lost dentures to a nudist asking for directions, this game sure knows how to keep you on your toes. I couldn't resist playing the hero and lending a helping hand, even if it meant losing precious time in my quest for redemption. Now, let's address the horse in the room—the horse mechanics. Y'know, I never thought I'd be so attached to a digital equine, but dang it, those horses stole my heart! They're so realistic and responsive that I found myself whispering sweet nothings to my trusty steed, hoping it would make us both gallop faster. And let me tell ya, there's nothing quite like crashing headfirst into a tree and watching poor Arthur get launched like a ragdoll while his horse looks at him with sheer disappointment. Hilarious! All in all, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolute blast, whether you're itching for a gunfight or simply looking to play cowboy dress-up. Just be prepared to get lost in the immersive world, forming bonds with your digital companions, and laughing until your belly aches. Saddle up, pardner, because this game is a wild ride from start to finish!

My son and I each played Red Dead Redemption 2 separately, and we both absolutely loved it. The world is incredibly detailed, the story is powerful, and the gameplay is top-notch. Even though we played on our own, we had a great time talking about our experiences, the choices we made, and all the little things we discovered. It’s so good that we’ve both gone back to play it again. This is one of those games that really sticks with you and keeps pulling you back in. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a great open-world adventure.

There's a lot to love about this game, from the story to the graphics to the gameplay, but it's not for everyone. It's no Call of Duty, it's got a much slower pace than a lot of big games, and the controls can take some getting used to, but if you can get past the rough patches it's a fantastic, worthwhile experience.
