    Didn’t use geek squad because this was a bundle deal with a Viper remote start

    Excellent remote start installation....

    I bought a remote start from Best Buy Lynchburg, Va. and scheduled installation for 12/12/2017. I was aware that there was a change in the install tech at this Best Buy location. As often happens, there was some question about parts needed for the install on my vehicle. After some conversation, thanks to the GM (Aaron) and hard work from the tech (Jason) the install was completed on the scheduled date. Aaron worked with Jason to to locate a product that would work on my vehicle and Jason worked late to complete the install. The install was complete and checked out properly. Thanks to Aaron and Jason for their professional attitudes during this transition.

    Refused Installation

    After a lengthy time researching and getting quotes, I purchased a combo kit for a remote starter plus geek squad install. I got all the parts and info ready, showed up for my appointment and was greeted by the geek squad tech. When he asked for my car keys, he realized what make and model it was and then looked at me and said "Nah, can't do it." As soon as he said this, the other tech started laughing. I assumed it was a joke, and tried to continue the checking in process, but I realized he was serious. He said the car starter was not compatible. I showed him the list of compatible vehicles, to which my car was in the list. I showed him the appointment details, where you have to provide your car details there as well. He then shows me these diagrams on his computer (which I had already seen when determining whether or not to purchase the geek squad install) and told me how difficult he had it on a similar vehicle recently. He said after that car experience that he will never do it again. So I confirmed with him "It's not that you can't do it, but it's that you won't do it." To which he kept showing me all the diagrams on his computer and how many things he had to do last time to get it to work. At the same time, a best buy employee was trying to get into the area to retrieve an item for two customers who were also outside the locked door. I motioned to let them in and he told me not to let them in. "You're gonna wait. One customer in here at a time." They sat there for 5 minutes while he kept telling me he wouldn't do my install because it was too difficult. I gave up trying to have a discussion with this guy because of his rude, condescending attitude and the fact that he just didn't "feel like" doing the install on something that I had bought and paid for. I went to the manager who tried to get details. After a couple of minutes there, he reiterated his point and said "If my guys aren't comfortable doing the install, unfortunately there's nothing we can do." I had to get a full refund and explain to my wife that her Christmas present wasn't possible. I've never dealt with such a hostile experience shopping at Best Buy in all the years I've been going. It baffles me that an advertised package and weeks in the waiting list to get in for the install all were for nothing because an employee didn't feel like doing what he had to do to install it.

    Ridiculous run-around with no results.

    I had an aftermarket remote starter installed on my 2019 Subaru Outback at the end of December. I should have been suspicious when I went to pick it up and the car would not start, either with the key nor the remote. I waited another 20 minutes while the technician fiddled with it to start my car. Over the next two months my car has had to be jump-started about 1/4 of the time. Battery and alternator are fine. Yesterday I spent over an hour on the phone with Best Buy, being transferred at least six times. Each time I described all the electrical issues with the car and asked for an appointment to get them resolved. No luck. Finally I tried the online chat. Described in detail the issues, and was transferred to yet another agent, who came on line and said "I see you want to get a remote starter installed". FINALLY I booked an appointment for the next day at 2:20. I said - "To confirm, that's tomorrow at 2:20 at the x store"? Yes. When I arrived at 2:10, the installation bay was locked up tight, so I went inside. After much research, and being told I did NOT in fact, have an appointment, it was discovered that instead I had an appointment scheduled to have my laptop repaired. Never once was a laptop mentioned in my phone calls.

    They obviously didn’t go to the Lanham Md store. Two Geek squad employees were extremely rude, ended up telling me the appointment I had made, drove 40 miles for, couldn’t be honored. Evidently the time that is quoted for a remote start installation is not correct, according to them. Site says 2-2.5 hours, they said 4 hours. And they couldn’t do it that day. Returned the system, will have it done somewhere else.

    Installation at the dedham best buy was a very good experience. Took only 1 hour. The tech was knowledgeble and demonstrated how the product works.

    Took 2 Installs Due to Technician

    I purchased a highly rated Compustar Remote Start System. I got this unit installed at the Auburn Hills, MI Best buy location. I will NEVER give this store my business again. The technician who installed did NOT install this unit correctly, Remote would not unlock the vehicle even after stating no issues were seen on the phone. Shortly after driving away check engine lights and cruise control lights were lighting up on the dash of my vehicle. I eventually got in touch with Geek Squad over the phone and they were able to get me in touch with another technician from another store 20 miles away. This store was on Gratiot Ave in Roseville, MI. The technicician at this store really helped by reinstalling the unit from the start and making sure everything was correctly working. I will ONLY trust the Gratiot Ave store to work on my Vehicle. Wasted another 4 hours of my time going to get this reinstalled because of the first technician incomptetence. I highly recommend NOT having this service done at the Auburn Hills, MI location. This store does NOTknow what they are doing.

    Installed incorrectly without any fix offered

    I unfortunately made the mistake of getting my compustar remote start installed by the Best Buy automotive team. They installed it wrong first off, So I cannot start it without my car alarm going off, which is incredibly Inconvenient. I tried to call to get this fixed however they are unable to help me without me spending an insane amount of money trying to get to them. I would recommend going anywhere else to get this done. I would recommend any small auto shop or local business to install this instead of resorting to corporate greed and people who may not know what they’re doing. AND DO NOT TIP UNTIL YOU KNOW EVERYTHING WORKS. This location was also closing so I have no doubt they went the “Best Buy way” of installing it.

    Couldn't get the job done in 4 hours

    I'd give 0 stars but the system does not allow it. I dropped my car off to have a remote starter installed at 2:45pm and when I went back to check on the progress at 5:30pm they told me they wouldn't have it done by 6:45pm, despite the website and email I received stating that it would take a maximum of 4 hrs. When I told the store manager and technician that I needed my car at 6:45pm they said they would not be able to complete the service and so I asked for my car to be returned to driveable condition immediately. When I asked the manager how he would compensate me for the 3 hrs I'd spent waiting for them as well as the now unreturnable separate part I'd purchased for the installation he offered only to refund the price of the starter which the technician had half-installed and then threw into a box and the price of the service that they did not perform. I felt this was unacceptable and declined. There was only one technician working unsupervised who admitted to me he'd never installed a remote starter before (after the fact). Don't go to a big box electronics retailer for auto work, go to a professional.

    Subwoofer turns on with remote start

    Had a remote start (purchased at Best Buy) installed with geek squad. When the remote start is activated my amp powers on and search’s for signal so this makes the sub constantly vibrate. Geek squad tech Jason failed to even mention that the remote start he just hooked up was also activating the sub to hit. Simply wouldn’t fix the problem just wanted to blame someone else for him hacking my car. This is like serving someone an under cooked burger.. I brought my vehicle in perfect working order and when I went to leave I couldn’t use the product we just had installed because it would damage my amp/sub.

    Ive been scheduled twice in a months time, the first time in hiram, ga an hour away from me with traffic. i get there and the technician tells me that he doesn't know how to program the system for a lexus. The second time a month later at dunwoody ga bestbuy. I get there promptly at 10:55am the instataller tells me that best buy won't let him install my brand new system unless I buy it from them. I called to complain to management and the never called me back.

    Remote start was installed,heater blower wouldn't work and he told me my vehicle was to old.I took my vehicle to ford&Garland and they got my heater blower working ;bestbuy didn't install it right.

    Their ad said it didn't matter where the remote start was purchased. They would install correctly. I got an appointment for January 16. I had everything ready for the installation. They looked at the NEW Python 4608P , didn't even open the box, and said it was too complicated. They couldn't handle it. They failed to do what they said they would do In Writing. Bitterly disappointed in Geek Squad.

    Waited till i got there and had somone come pick me up to tell me they where to backed up to instal my remote start. (last appointment of the day. 5 hours before they close)
