Bought this as thr salesfloor model. Marked as open box excellent condition. I got this to track my daughters silent seizures since doctors are no help.
It was missing the plastic mount, but did provide the adhesive and 5 small adhesive clips.
Your website says-->
The package includes two mounting options. The first is a 3M adhesive pad and a plastic mount piece. The 3M pad is used to stick the mount to the windshield. The camera can then slide down into the mount piece to be secured to the windshield, and can be easily removed from the mount as needed. The second option is the suction cup mount, which allows for greater range of movement of the unit and can be removed easily from the windshield if needed.
(I really loved the option of this suction cup mount as each car differs where mirrors are/height of dash/height of car radio screens)
I did call customer service not through best buy but Rexing.
They are working on at minimum giving me the plastic piece to be able to use this product.
Thank you Mark from Rexing to helping me be able to use this!!! Usually people buy these for other people's driving/evidence per collisions. Mine is more so getting my daughter proper healthcare.
Thank you for helping me accomplish this.
(Took off sticker on main screen to reformat SD card/connect to wifi. Thank you again Mark for your help with this!)

A Piece of Junk
The video quality of this dashcam is nowhere close to 4k, as Rexing claims. As one can see by the attached front photo, it does not even capture license plate numbers on most occasions, although at nighttime if a car is directly in front of your vehicle and your headlights are illuminating the plate of the car in front of you, the dashcam will occasionally capture the plate.
The dashcam does not provide adequately lit footage for interior recording either. Unless you’re directly under a streetlight, the quality of interior footage will be shoddy at best.
The dashcam, and especially the Rexing Connect app which is required for viewing footage on a mobile phone, are both filled with bugs. The dashcam, as well as the app, will often get dates and times of footage recorded mixed-up. For example, I once had a video segment I needed to submit to Uber support that was recorded on 9/05/2023.
Despite the fact that the time & date settings on my dashcam were all current, both when I accessed the footage and when the footage was recorded, several days after the incident occurred the dashcam erroneously had all of my recordings from 9/05/2023 labeled as being from 9/04/2023.
Indeed, all of my files from each recorded date in my SD card had wrongly been labeled as being from the previous date. Oftentimes I would have to manually adjust the clock settings in the dashcam’s option menu because the clock would inexplicably be set several hours ahead or before the actual current time. On many occasions the dashcam would stop recording altogether for no reason whatsoever then resume recording an hour or two later.
After having this issue in the aftermath of an incident occurring while I was transporting an Uber fare, I knew it was time to take advantage of my Geek Squad warranty and return this piece of garbage to my nearest Best Buy. With the store credit I received from this item I bought Next Bases’ 622 GW, which has worked very well for me so far.
The Rexing Connect mobile app is another issue altogether. Footage segments would never play for me directly in the app, so I always had to download a segment to my phone just to know what the one-minute video block contained.
The app often would not connect to the dashcam at all, which required lengthy troubleshooting on my part, usually via uninstalling then re-installing the app then re-connecting to the dashcam only to get kicked out of the app and then trying again. It’s really luck of the draw.
Please do not buy this poorly made dashcam. I hope that the warnings I have provided here detailing the suffering I experienced as a result of purchasing it can serve as a warning to others. You’d be much better served going with a Nextbase camera instead, preferable their top-of-the-line 622 GW, or their high-end IQ series line which will be released on 10/30/2023.

Hi Ryan. The video quality on the V5C is 4K, it just depends on what resolution the camera is set to and where you're playing the video from. We always recommend downloading the full video on the app and replaying it on your phone. Watching videos while actively connected to the app will not give you the best video results, especially on night drives. For the date and time, we always recommend adjusting the time zone as well, not just the hours. Otherwise that'll result in different time stamps on the video. Our app has also been updated. Sometimes with iPhones you'll need to disable your 5G/LTE mobile date, because it may cause interference with the connection. Nonetheless, we appreciate the honest feedback. Hopefully you'll consider choosing Rexing in the future. Thank you.

Great Dash Cam with Voice Control!
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Verdict: This dash cam is easy to setup, can connect to your phone to view stored videos (when in range), and allows voice control for essential functions. If you buy the smart hardwire kit, the camera will also monitor your car when it is parked.
Initial impressions. The camera is thinner than an older Rexing camera we have. It has a large lens on the front for 4k recording. While the camera itself doesn’t pivot from the mount (the angle of the camera is fixed), you can adjust the view of the front and the back by moving the actually front lens and rear lens. The cabin camera can be removed, and it looks like it’s just plug and play. In the box are the main camera, the cabin camera attachment, a long power cord, two mounting brackets, two 3M mounting stickers, a trim tool, and manuals (quick start, wifi guide, warranty card, and other paperwork).
Setup. This was the second time I installed a dash cam, so I was a lot more comfortable with this installation and I moved much quicker. Before installing the camera, I plugged it in to make sure it worked. Then, I considered how I was going to run the power cable around the trim. Once I had a plan, I placed the mount where the camera would fit nicely and have a good view of the front of the car and the cabin. I used the trim tool to tuck the power cable under the trim around the windshield, down the side of the glove box, and under the glove box, and then made my way to the power source. While the installation looks very nice, I think I may reposition the camera so that the screen is not visible from the driver seat. Right now, the led screen of the camera is catching my eye and could be a distraction.
App. The app doesn’t appear to be necessary to “complete” the installation; the camera starts recoding as soon as it has power, whether you setup the app or not. However, the app is very handy for viewing your recording from a bigger screen. To setup the app, I first connected to the camera with my smart phone by using the wifi menu and selecting the dash cam as my wifi network. Then, I opened the Rexing app and selected the dash cam… and that’s it! Worked perfectly on the first try. I used the app to browse through the videos recorded and I could see that the camera had started recording from the moment it was plugged in.
Usage. What I love most about this dash cam is that you don’t have to think about it. When you turn on the car, the camera also turns on and starts recording. It has a g-force sensor, so if it detects a crash, it locks the videos. This camera also has voice control! That is really handy. With our older Rexing camera, I would always forget what button to press in case I wanted to “lock” a video for later viewing… With this camera, you can just say “lock video” and it will lock the current recording. You can also turn the screen on/off, take a photo, and select front view, cabin view, or both, just by using voice prompts. This is a fantastic additional capability. The camera also has a GPS that will time stamp and location stamp all footage.
Things I like:
- Pretty easy install and app connection
- It requires no effort to operate
- Voice control is a game changer!
- 4k resolution makes a big difference. I can’t believe how clear the videos look
- The app is very handy for viewing and downloading videos
- I like that the cabin camera is modular. If I have a passenger who takes issue with the cabin camera, I can just pull it off the main camera
- The 3M sticker is dark, which is better than the noticeable (from the outside) light grey sticker we have on the old dash cam
- It comes with an SD card
Things I don’t like:
- The camera has the ability to monitor and record while your car is parked. However, it looks like the camera requires a smart hardwire kit that connects directly to the battery for this option to work. I wish this kit was included. This is a feature we would love to have in every car
Overall, I am very happy with this dash cam. The best dash cam is one that you forget is there, but if you have an issue, it will have all the recorded footage you need. The Rexing V5 seems to meet these expectations. If you need a dash cam, this has been a great one for us so far.

Dash cams are a must these days. You hope to never need one but the moment you do it’s an investment that can become invaluable. Rexing is a well known brand in the world of dash cams, and it’s clear to me in the design of this camera that they have had time to perfect their designs. Compared with others I’ve used in the past there’s a big difference that is really noticeable in this camera. Specifically, the fact that the cam is fully rigid through its mount, no movement is possible once’s it’s stuck onto the windshield. The way you aim it is the lens itself can be adjusted rather than the whole unit. This makes it so when you are interacting with it, pressing buttons etc you don’t accidentally move the camera and mess up your angle. Considering it has 5 different buttons on the bottom and no touch screen it is important that it remain still when you go to press anything on it. It is a design I have come to really appreciate as I am no longer concerned about changing the sim as I am just trying to manually record an event for example. The same goes with the included cabin view camera, it is rigidly affixed to the side of the main cam and the lens can be moved around to get the right view. The main lens records in 4K at 30fps, and the interior lens is 1080p 30fps. This allows about 8 hours of recordings on a loop on the included 64gb sd card.
Recording is good quality, it can see well in the dark and everything is fairly crisp during the daytime. The struggle is with it catching reflections in the windshield as it does not have any way to correct for that. It is a very wide angle as well and nothing gets distorted in that view. Accessing those recordings is very frustrating unfortunately. The app is very basic and very finicky, I have yet to get it to actually playback anything via the wifi connection with the app much less be able to download any clips. I spent well over an hour trying to get it to work to no avail. Finally I had to resort to pulling the sd card and taking it to my computer so see any recordings. That would be unfortunate if I wanted to provide the police video of an incident as I would basically have to hand over the sd card instead of being able to share a video with my phone. GPS is wildly inaccurate on mine as well, I have never once seen it with the correct speed in the screen, usually only showing something around 11mph. It does seem to be right when watching the videos later however. Might be a defect but I’m not certain. Another quirk for this camera is it will not function at all if you try to power it via usb. I tried 1.1,2.1,2.3 amp power sources and none of them would power it on right. The only way it will stay on is with the included 12v cigarette lighter adapter on a 12ft cord. So if your car either does not have one of those or it’s not working right, this dash cam will not work for you. In fact depending on the vehicle it is a less than ideal solution since my truck for example will run power to the 12v plugs for an hour after shutting the engine off so the camera will stay on that long as well unless I unplug it every time I shut off my truck. Since it’s rather inconvenient to unplug it all the time I end up with hours of unnecessary footage overwriting my sd card every day. If it had been possible to use this on usb only I wouldn’t have the problem with it staying powered for so long.
Overall I feel like this camera has some good features but others that are frustrating and bewildering. I still like it and feel like it is reasonable for what it can do and the quality of the picture it records, but I really wish the app wasn’t so useless and that there was more than one singular option for power that doesn’t require a separate purchase and install of hard wiring. For 4K video with cabin view it is a good option but it has its drawbacks as well.

It seems that the internal firmware battery was not working properly. This little battery is only for keeping track of the date, time and settings. Our dash cams no longer use batteries but instead use supercapacitors. This allows them to handle better under extreme weather conditions.

Hi! Thank you for your review! You will need to play the footage back on a 4K monitor or TV to see the 4K quality. Also, the device does not hold a charge, because it does not have a battery. It instead has a supercapacitor which lasts much longer than chargeable batteries and can withstand high temps and very low temps.

Good for wired-in applications

The most interesting detail on this dash camera is that it records in 4K on the front and 1080p on the cabin. The cabin camera has an automatic IR illuminator. It also supports three channels, so one can add either a wired rear windshield camera or wired outdoor camera. Adding a 3rd camera makes all three channels record in 1080p.
The cabin camera is built-in, not detachable. I was confused because the other similar model camera V5 appears to have a detachable cabin camera.
The screen is nice. It's not a touchscreen and the buttons on the bottom of the camera are intuitive to use.
This came with a 64G memory card already plugged in.
It also comes with an SD card adapter, the lighter plug cable, two 3M adhesive mounts, some wire clips and a plastic tool to hide the cables around the interior trim.
Power: Like most dash-cameras, this uses a Mini-USB cable (It does not have a modern USB-C). Also it does not have a built-in battery. The capacitors seems to be used only to stabilize power.
This camera has a parking monitor mode but requires the 'smart hardwire kit' that is optional. It does not work with the lighter cable that comes with the camera and this extra kit is an additional purchase.
Connectivity: It has Wi-Fi with selectable 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz bands. The Rexing iPhone app (Also for Android, but I use an iPhone) is fairly simple but does the job. However to connect to the camera one has to go to the camera's menu and enable Wi-Fi (It goes off after every time the camera restarts), and then one has to manually switch to the camera's network. Once the app connects with the camera, I find it very responsive. Some simple functions on the camera can be set up from the app but most settings are done from the camera's menu, which is simple enough to use.
The camera accepts some voice commands (built into the camera, no phone required), although I personally have no need for that.
The camera mount is fixed, so the camera cannot be adjusted, but the lenses within the camera can be moved around to adjust it so this works fine.
Note that the camera does not come with a suction cup mount. Rexing sells one as an extra option for this model.
Night vision works well and records in color when lighting is good enough.
One major disappointment for me is that I'm leasing the car where I installed this camera so I didn't want to use the strong adhesive mount nor a hardwire, but I cannot use the parking mode without hard-wiring it, which is something I don't want to do on a leased car. Also it's not simple to swap with other cars because the suction mount does not come with the camera and it's an optional purchase.
Not using USB-C means it requires using the lighter plug that comes with the camera, but this should be used with the extra hardwire kit regardless, as a lot can happen in parking lots.
Another nit: The camera can timestamp the date on the videos but the font is quite large and includes branding.
Overall is a good dash camera if one plans on hardwiring it.

Easy to install, comes with everything you need including a microSD card.
Front and cabin recording, voice control, GPS tracking, wifi, expandable with a 3rd camera and app control.
Watching video using the app will also show your location on map.
Video quality is slightly better than my old FHD dash cam so I am not sure if this is using real 4K sensor for the front camera.
Manufacture website does not list the sensor model but other website indicated it is using SONY IMX335 sensor where number of active pixels are 2616 (H) × 1960 (V) approx. 5.13 M pixels so not really 4K
Here are areas that need improvement:
It requires the include power adapter to work, other usb car charger does not work. Wish the power requirement is not this high.
Cabin camera always uses infra red so color is off even on bright day.
Android app is not on Google Play Store, you must download from Rexing website. The QR code from the manual open an error page on Play Store.
To enable parking monitor, you must install the hardwire kit which is a separate purchase.
No HDR so cannot see license plate when the sun is shining on it.
Video playback using the app has very poor resolution.
Voice control works well but sometimes you have to shout the command. The camera acknowledges the command by a chime but it is too loud.
Buttons' function are incorrect in the manual, here are the correct function from left to right
-Screen on off
-Setting Menu
-Lock the video
-Toggle through cameras
-Start stop video record

I had a Nextbase dash cam on one of my previous cars and I really liked it. There were a few times that someone cut me off or did something stupid in front of me and it was cool to be able to pull up the footage and see what happened just in case I needed some evidence for an insurance claim. But that car got total'd and I didn't think to remove it. So when the opportunity came up to try out this Rexing camera, I jumped on it.
This camera also comes with a camera that covers the interior of the vehicle. I don't use this feature but I could see it coming in handy for someone that does Uber or Lyft in case you get someone doing something crazy in your car. I had this installed for me at Best Buy so I can't really speak to the ease of installation but it didn't take them more than an hour or so and I had mine hard wired.
Note this camera only comes with a cigarette lighter power source. If you don't want to see a wire going from your center console up to the camera, (I don't think anyone wants that), then you will need to purchase a separate hard wire kit. Rexing sells their own, (I believe they are about $30), but I bought one from Amazon that was recommended to me by the installer at Best Buy. It would be nice if Rexing included this but the cost to buy one isn't excessive.
The camera has a parking monitor feature to record if your car gets hit while it is parked. If you want to use this monitor feature you can either have the camera turn on when it senses an impact to your vehicle, (not sure how well this works), or you can just have it record all the time. The issue with the latter option is that you run the risk of the camera draining your car battery. The nice thing about the hard wire kit I bought from Amazon is that it comes with a voltage meter to monitor the output of your battery. If the voltage drops below 12.5 volts, it shuts off the camera. This should keep the battery from getting drained. I'm a little leery of this though. If something goes wrong with the hard wire kit then you might not be able to start your car if it sits for a long time. But having the camera always recording will ensure that if your car gets hit from the front, (or the back if you install the optional rear facing camera), then it will definitely get recorded.
To view files recorded on the camera you use the Rexing app. The app is a little bare-bones but works well enough. You have to turn the cameras Wi-Fi on EVERY time you want to look at or download files. It is mildly annoying to have to do this every time but honestly you probably aren't going to be looking at your files all that often.
One issue I have with the camera is that some of the settings aren't very intuitive. For instance the LCD screen saver has 3 options on it, (Off, 1 min, and 3 min). I have my camera mounted directly behind my rear view mirror so there is no reason for the screen to be on, on the camera other than when I am changing settings. So I had selected the "Off" setting thinking that would keep the LCD screen turned off. But when I noticed it was on all the time, I called Rexing support to find out why. It turns out that "Off" means turn the saver feature off, not turn the screen off. Also, the camera only displays the time as "military time". So 5pm is 17:00. Not a huge deal but something I wish you could change.
All in all this camera works well and is at a decent price point. It records in 4k but since most of the time I look at files via the app on my phone, I don't really see a need for the extra resolution. I've called Rexing support a few times with questions and getting someone on the phone is a bit hit or miss. Sometimes I've been lucky and gotten through to someone right away, other times I've left a message and not had it returned. But the people I've spoken to were very friendly and helpful.
