The final segment of the cavalry trio, this movie has comedy, action, and a bit of a love story. The old sergeant, Quincannon is my favorite character. There's also a young Ben Johnson. Too bad it wasn't in color to show off the beautiful background.

I am amazed at how the Duke gets the girls as much a James Bond does. Nice western buy I do like "The quiet man" as a better movie for Wayne & O'Hara.

One of my favorite John Wayne movies. I don't usually pay a lot for any movie but It worth getting the Olive Blu ray edition. The special features are an absolute must see. The John Ford usual cast of supporting actors were all excellent as in other Ford movies. Maureen O' Hara is one my favorite actress' and she did not disappoint. It is always nice to see Native Americans being given roles in Ford movies. As always, the real star of any Ford movie is the landscape and cinematography.

Just a tremendous movie. Great story, great characters and characterizations and beautifully filmed this is an all time classic. This blu ray is gorgeous as well. The black and white picture pops on this and it hasn’t looked so beautiful I’m guessing since it debuted in theaters in the 50s.

Among John Ford’s best. Beautifully filmed mix of drama, excitement, humor and pathos, with engaging characters and sensitive and evocative acting by leads John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. If you’ve seen it already, this new restoration is better than ever and the new bonus features add to the enrichment.

Great film, but my comments are about this blu ray release. The picture quality appears to be that of a DVD. Although this is a blu ray disc, it does not appear to be in high definition, and the box does not claim to be "newly restored and remastered in HD from a 4K scan of the original negative" etc., i.e., the things that other blu ray releases of old films always say. Also, there are no subtitles; and the only extra is a "making of" documentary with Leonard Maltin which is very good, but it is some 20 years old. In my opinion, this blu ray is just a straight transfer from a prior DVD release without improvement. The old "Collector's Edition" DVD offers more extras!

Even though there are some themes and motifs that today's audience may deem as "old-fashioned" or objectionable, this western by John Ford is exciting and moving. The video quality is top-notch, and the audio is very good. The only negative comment that I would have to give is the lack of blu-ray supplements.
