Life-Saver for a Busy Dad: My Take on the Roborock

As a dad with three kids and four pets, you can imagine the chaos and mess at our place. I've gone through quite a few vacuums, both regular and robotic, and I thought I’d seen it all. That was until I got the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. Man, this thing is a game changer!
First off, it does everything. Seriously, it vacuums, it mops, and it does both like a champ. The best part for me is the detergent dispenser. I used to hate refilling the mop on my old vacuums, but this one handles it all. It’s also got these redesigned water tanks and a dust bag that make maintenance a breeze.
The dock is pretty neat too—it washes and dries the mop pad, so there's no funky smell afterwards. And it’s quiet! I can let it run while the kids are asleep, or even while I’m on a call, and it doesn’t bother anyone.
Now, the smart features on this thing are top-notch. It doesn’t bump into furniture or get stuck on kids’ toys and pet stuff lying around. It’s like it knows where it’s going, thanks to some really cool room mapping tech. I got every room mapped out in no time, and it even shows me where it’s cleaned and where it hasn’t.
And the cleaning itself? Phenomenal. We’re talking about it picking up everything from cat hair to cookie crumbs. Plus, the mop keeps itself clean, which is great because who has time to wash a mop every day?
Setup was super simple too. I had it out of the box and running in minutes, and the app made it easy to get everything scheduled. Now I come home to clean floors every day without lifting a finger.
All in all, if you’re looking for something to take some of the cleaning load off your shoulders, especially in a busy house like mine, this Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is worth every penny. It’s my new best friend in the fight against mess.
Highly recommend for any parent out there who just wants a break from the daily grind!

Review of Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Roborock Qrevo Curv Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuums
I recently tried both the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and the Roborock Qrevo Curv, and while both are exceptional in performance and design, I ultimately returned the S8 MaxV Ultra in favor of the Qrevo Curv due to personal preferences.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
This model truly impressed me with its FlexiArm Design Side Brush, 10,000 Pa suction power, and the 8-in-1 RockDock Ultra system, which offers convenient and advanced features like auto-emptying, mop washing, and refilling. The vacuum efficiently handled various surfaces in my home, seamlessly transitioning between carpet and hard floors, and the mop function provided a thorough clean. The AI-powered obstacle avoidance is top-notch, ensuring minimal disruptions during cleaning sessions. It’s a fantastic robot vacuum for anyone looking for a premium, hassle-free experience.
Roborock Qrevo Curv
While the S8 MaxV Ultra is an outstanding model, I am personally a fan of the rotating mop pads, which the Qrevo Curv offers. This feature gives the mopping function a more polished and deeper clean. With 18,500 Pa suction power, the Qrevo Curv delivers unparalleled suction, outperforming most competitors and making it ideal for homes with pets or heavy dirt. The Dual Anti-Tangle System ensures smooth operation, especially with hair or debris, which is a game-changer for busy households. Its sleek design and Wi-Fi connectivity make it easy to control and schedule cleanings through the app.
Brand Overview
Roborock as a brand continues to impress me with its innovation, quality, and attention to detail. Whether you opt for the S8 MaxV Ultra or the Qrevo Curv, you’re getting a reliable and high-performing robot vacuum. Both models cater to different preferences, but they share the hallmark quality of Roborock: efficiency, intelligence, and durability.
Final Thoughts
I returned the S8 MaxV Ultra simply because I prefer the rotating mop pads of the Qrevo Curv, but that doesn’t take away from how incredible the S8 MaxV Ultra is. Roborock has set a gold standard in robot vacuums, and I highly recommend the brand to anyone looking for a top-tier cleaning experience. Either way, investing in a Roborock is worth every penny.

So we have had a roomba for years and it gets the job done but never really been amazed at it. Still needed to mop and it would get stuck in random spots.
Flash forward to 2025 and these new robots are amazing.
The censors on this thing combined with the on board camera means it almost never gets stuck under a chair, in a closet or wrapped up in cords. We have puppy pad holders, dog bowl holders, rugs and small runners that other machines would get stuck in but this thing just navigates them all like a champ.
The mopping function is a little weird, the thing vibrates and I seriously thought it was a gimmick, but holy cow the dirty water that comes out of this thing is disgusting. Like how were our floors that bad and how did our other cleaning tools miss it?
Weve had it for like a month, and its amazing. Yes its expensive and yes you dont need it, but to be able to come home everyday to a clean floor is great.
5 stars, amazing!

I upgraded from the prior model (S8 Pro Ultra) to the MaxV Ultra for the improved object recognition, and better cleaning.
I think the S8 Pro Ultra makes for a much better deal, especially when it's on sale. It's almost as good in every way, and costs notably less. However if you want the best from Roborock, the MaxV Ultra is the way to go.
Things I like:
1) Navigation is fast and efficient. The s8 MaxV can map about 2800 square feet in about 25 minutes in mapping mode.
2) Cleaning for both vacuuming and mopping are very good. The vibrating mop pads do work for general surface dirt and grime. It picks up pet hair and cat litter with no difficulty.
3) Object detection in general is very good, and it successfully avoids a lot of the objects that get left around the house by my kids. Things my old i7 Roomba would run over, the MaxV avoids. I rarely have to babysit this machine, and I expect further improvements with firmware updates over time.
4) The docking & self cleaning are improved over the S8 Pro Ultra. The unit can now wash the mop, empty the vacuum, and dry the mop without having to change orientation. The prior model was not capable of this. I also find the dust bin emptying to be slightly quieter compared to the prior model.
What I dislike
1) Unit can still get stuck on objects it's not trained on. I would expect a product at this price point to be able to recognize a pen/pencil on the floor, or a sheet of paper.
2) Battery life seems slightly worse than the S8 Pro Ultra. This is probably do to the improved suction and increased vibration in the mop pad, in addition to the RGB camera + LED light.
3) Edge mopping is okay, but I don't find it to be practical at this time. The unit will not run along the edges of rugs or carpet unless they are along a wall / boundary in the house. I was hoping the navigation algorithm would identify things like rugs in my home and use the edge cleaning mop pad to clean right up next to them. Instead the mop pad is generally lifted around 1-2" away from rugs and no special consideration is given to them. Edge cleaning is only useful for walls / boundaries in the home.
4) At this time, if you buy the model with voice assistance you will not be able to customize the names of the rooms in your house outside of the premade ones from Roborock (without going through some tricky to find settings). On the prior model without voice assistance you could name each room in your map from the map itself.

Swip around good but not perfect. Mop almost perfect but really stain on wood you should run a few times. On deep mop water finish fast. You should be maintain each time. Add water. But on market this is best one. On wood almost perfect works. App is amazing. 2D. 3D. And matrix map so cool. Detection . Scan room. Cable. Furniture. Tv stand. Everything. Shoes. Slipper. Perfectly detected. If dust is really big sometimes not vacuum. But 2nd vacuum it is sucked. Noise is good. Even on high speed. Deep clean. Noise is fine. Not annoying. On highest 100 this robot deserve 80-90. Not perfect. But really above the good. Middle between good and perfect. I love it.

Let me tell you about my new best friend—the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra! From the second I hit the “start” button, I knew this little superstar and I would be inseparable. Setting it up was a snap, and it mapped out my entire home like it already lived here. I’ve got two dogs who can’t resist rolling around in the grass, plus two cats who shed like there’s no tomorrow—so trust me, my floors can get wild. But the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra tackles the fur, dust, and mystery fluff like a total champ!
Speaking of cleaning brilliance, the mop needed a quick rinse before its very first run, but once that was out of the way, it’s been nothing short of spectacular. I was too excited to wait for my fancy detergent, so I just used water the first time, and it still left my floors squeaky clean. Watching it zoom around, zapping every bit of dirt in its path, is honestly mesmerizing—and the feeling of coming home every day to a spotless house is pure bliss.
I can’t stress enough how much I adore this thing. Between the powerful vacuum, the handy mop, and the effortless navigation, it’s basically the perfect sidekick for a busy home full of pets. If you’re looking for a cleaning partner that truly has your back (and your floors), the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is your match made in heaven. I mean, who wouldn’t love a best friend that never complains and always cleans up after you? It’s definitely mine!

As someone who works from home three out of five days, finding a reliable and efficient cleaning solution that doesn’t disrupt the workflow is crucial. The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop has been a fantastic addition to our tech-friendly household, offering a seamless blend of performance, convenience, and smart features that make maintaining a clean home easier than ever.
Design and Build Quality
The sleek white design of the S8 MaxV Ultra fits right in with our modern home setup. The FlexiArm Design Side Brush ensures it reaches those hard-to-clean areas, leaving no corner untouched. The build quality is robust, and the vacuum feels sturdy and well-constructed, promising longevity.
Quiet Operation
One of the standout features for me is how quietly this vacuum operates. Even with its powerful 10,000 Pa suction, it’s quiet enough to run during my work calls without any disruption. This is a huge benefit, allowing me to focus on work while the vacuum handles the cleaning.
Performance
The S8 MaxV Ultra excels at keeping our home clean, which is particularly important with a toddler running around. It effortlessly picks up all the crumbs, pet hair, and dust that accumulate daily, leaving our floors spotless. My wife particularly loves how well it mops the floors, providing a thorough clean that’s noticeable even on our hard floors.
RockDock Ultra
The 8-in-1 RockDock Ultra is a game-changer. It takes care of waste disposal, water refilling for the mop, and even self-cleaning, making maintenance practically hands-free. This level of convenience is a huge time-saver for our busy household.
Smart Features
The advanced navigation and object recognition are fantastic, ensuring the S8 MaxV Ultra never gets stuck or misses a spot. The app integration is incredibly user-friendly, allowing us to control the vacuum remotely. We can easily set cleaning schedules, designate no-go zones, and even keep an eye on our cat through the vacuum’s remote view feature when we’re away on trips. This added peace of mind is something we both appreciate.
Family-Friendly Benefits
For a household with a toddler, the S8 MaxV Ultra is a lifesaver. It keeps the floors clean and free of debris, making it safer for our little one to play. The quiet operation ensures that nap times aren’t disturbed, and the thorough cleaning means less time spent on household chores, allowing us to focus on more important things.
Final Thoughts
The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is more than just a robot vacuum—it’s a reliable household assistant that fits perfectly into our tech-savvy lifestyle. Its quiet operation, powerful cleaning capabilities, and smart features make it an invaluable addition to our home. If you’re looking for a way to keep your home clean without the hassle, especially in a work-from-home environment, the S8 MaxV Ultra is an excellent choice.

It took a day or two for “Rockie” to learn the layout of the house. Now it just does its thing and keeps my floors as spotless as they can be with 3 dogs and kids. We have it set to clean the floors every night at 11pm. Every morning we wake up and it’s clean and mopped. It avoids anything left on the floor. Not sure the price should be as high as it is but I guess you have to pay more for something that works well

This is the best appliance since the dishwasher. I never dreamed I'd have perfectly clean floors all the time, but now I do. I've had a couple different robot vacuums but never had a vac/mop. On the upside: This thing is amazing. The map and no go zones and more give you total control of where it cleans. Like within inches. Obstacle avoidance is great. She doesn't get stuck. She takes pictures of things. I am actually getting more organized because of her! On the downside: She's high maintenance. The water tanks have to be filled and emptied every 2x I use it (1800 sq ft). Requires a monthly disassemble to clean it up. Overall, I love it and I'm glad I bought it.

I am actually surprised that this doesnt have a closer to 5 star rating. I am amazed by this Roborock. Our Shark robot vacuum (without the mopping feature) died after a few years, I was not impressed with the way it performed, so I was looking at other brands to replace that one. I had no idea what I was missing out on all these years. This feels like the cadillac of robot vacuums. The design is sleek and stylish, the app is awesome with tons of features, the mopping is even better than my Tineco vacuum mop… all with the convenience of saving me so much time! I have 2 toddlers and 2 dogs, so this is a lifesaver all around… my house feels so much cleaner now! Definitely well worth the investment!

I've bought other wifi floor vacuums from Shark and IRobot and jyst returned the new Dyson but they were just ok. This model from Roborock is leaps ahead of the others. Foremost, it vacuums then fills up and goes out again to mop the floor. Our house is just under 800 square feet and it returns to the dock twice to wash the mop and go out again. The clean water and used water tanks hold enough for a few days. The vacuum is superior to the others I've had and the mop is good for a daily wipe up. It has operated flawlessly so far, and smart enough to navigate everything. This senior gal gives it 5 stars for sure!

We have used the vacuum for a couple weeks now. It seems to be a good vacuum. The floors are clean after it vacuums and mops. It does have a little bit of difficult avoiding some of the animal toys, but other than that it does a good job. Once object is removed it picks ip right where it left off. I would recommend to someone looking for a robot vacuum. I havent used the search feature to drive the robot to find a pet but I might try it soon to see how it works.

Picked this up on sale and I got to say if you’ve ever thought about getting one of these this is it. I’ve had it for roughly a couple months and the cleaning is great. Picks up dog hair no problem mops where it’s supposed to. App is great and pretty intuitive to the point you can pick which way your flooring is laid to keep streaks away and it does that well. I’ve looked around for a robot vacuum for forever and the mopping is definitely a great bonus. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Hope this review helps anyone that’s thinking about spending the money. It’s definitely worth if you can get it on sale!

This robot vacuum is amazing and does a great job so far on my carpet and hard wood floors. The mapping only took minutes to do my whole first floor and it was really accurate for only doing one pass. The features on the app are great, it takes a bit of getting used to, but once you figure out where you need to go, it is informative and easy to use. I really like that it agitates the mop pad while cleaning because I feel my other robot vacuum lacked. It is really well packaged and easy to set up. Would highly recommend. Would also wait till Black Friday again to purchase. Got this at a great price for all the features.

I used to have the Roomba S9+ and J9 mop and had nothing but issues with them. Mop stopped pumping water and the vacuum constantly thought it was stuck even after fully cleaning the sensors. The new year sales made my decision to make the switch that much easier. I really like that the roborock s8 maxv ultra is a combo unit. Ive had it running for about a month now and have zero issues with it. Some key features that stand out that make it way better than roomba for the pricepoint is it cleans its mopping pad so you have to change it less frequently. It comes with two water tanks that allow it to self fill and empty as needed. The app is way more intuitive and allows for a much more in depth customization for how you want your house cleaned. The app also alerts you when its time to perform certain types of maintenance on the unit, when the water tanks are empty/full, and when the vacuum bag is full. I have 3 dogs (two german shephards) and 3 cats (two domestic long hair) in my house so pet fur was a big issue, even the roomba struggled to handle it. The roborock has had no issues with the fur which is a huge win for any pet owner. All in all I highly recommend this product, but would strongly suggest buying it during sales events. Yes the price is worth the performance but it seems like this goes on sale often enough to where it would be smart to save money where you can

I've bought and returned multiple robot vacuums because they did an awful job of picking up my Siberian Husky's dog hair. This vacuum has absolutely no problems picking up the hair on the lowest suction settings. It also does a great job of mopping my tile and hardwood flooring. It's expensive but definitely worth the price.

The product performs exceptionally well, and I have no complaints so far. However, I recommend waiting for the Thanksgiving sale to purchase it. During the sale, the price dropped by $700—a significant discount. Unfortunately, I bought it earlier and missed out on the savings. It's definitely worth considering timing your purchase to maximize value!

Little pricey, but smart, quiet (big improvement), use little water/chemical, and do better job than some maids. It can reach tight places like under the beds and tables.
