Let me tell you why this keyboard rocks! The RGB is able to be customized via Swarm (I wanted an RGB to reflect the "Magma" hence red, orange, yellow). Unlike my Corsair RGB keyboard before it, it "remembers" these settings every time I boot my PC or connect it to other devices (just tried it on my laptop). The colors are oh so beautiful I love that instead of matted plastic in between the keys I get this beautiful glow... And you can adjust between 4 brightness settings or switch it off completely but I realized as I was gaming w/my PS5 controller it auto-dims to the lowest light setting when not in use. I don't play fps, I don't need a responsive or clicky sounding keyboard (membrane it's familiar, it's silent) & I need my ten keys. I've seen people complain about it feeling cheap? Or that the handrest is just plastic. Look at the price this thing is a deal!! Be picky or cheap but not both and use your best buy credits!
Tldr: For $33 it checks all the boxes in what I want and need and I love it, it's so easy on the eyes.

Absolutely gorgeous keyboard for my gaming PC. I’ve never seen a design quite like this, with the top plate being completely lit with RGB lights. Not a super great RGB manipulation software, so I sort of leave it on the default. Other than that, it works and looks great.

This went above and beyond, especially for the price. It works great out of the box, but the software you can download from the manufacturer adds A LOT of special customizations. THIS KEYBOARD IS QUIET. I felt I should point that out. It is not a clicky mechanical keyboard. It's an older style membrane keyboard, but the keypresses are still satisfyingly tactile. It's very comfortable to use, and I really like the hand rest, which is optional. It also looks as though it would be very east to clean, since the keys are not recessed into a typical keyboard style, where the edges might come up around the perimeter of the keys. It's open, so if you look at it on the level of the keys, you can actually see underneath all of them. Some canned air would blow any debris right out. It really is a great keyboard.

Good keyboard except that the top row of keys, when viewed from a normal seated position appear to be only half lit. See picture but keep in mind my iPhone did brighten the appearance a lot. See the 8 key for a decent example. When using in daylight, you literally can’t read the numbers. If the manufacturer has designed this with the number on the bottom of the key and the symbol on the top (like most keyboards) it would be less of any issue, though then the symbol would be unreadable. I wanted to love this keyboard but after a day of office use, I couldn’t. Even while gaming it’s not great.

I was using a different mechanical keyboard, and while I love the sound and feel of it, I was looking for something a little different. This keyboard had all the right changes to get me to ditch my old gaming keyboard.
Build quality is great. It’s what you would expect from ROCCAT. It feels sturdy, key travel is great, software customization of the RGB plate is nice. It’s a joy to use, and has quick response. Now I love the sound of mechanical keys as much as the next person, but using this keyboard is such a treat. Keys are quiet and feel soft without feeling mushy. I really enjoy using this keyboard for gaming, work, and just web stuff. It’s honestly difficult to describe how lovely the keys feel.
The customization and RGB setup is great. Most keyboards have the RGB lights under each key cap. This keyboard takes the entire top plate under each key and lights it up. The entire plate is a huge RGB light panel. You can go into the ROCCAT software to customize the patterns, colors, speeds, etc. It’s so great and looks super crispy, especially with the lights out.
This is such an easy recommendation for anyone in the market for a great gaming keyboard. It is a pleasure to actually use, quick response for gaming, and the RGB effects are like no other keyboard I have ever used.

Both my daughter and I use my desktop computer for school and home office work. When I am not home, she uses it to play some of her games online (Minecraft and Roblox). The standard Bluetooth mouse and keyboard were good, but too compact for her. We were excited getting this ROCCAT keyboard so that she can compete with her brother and his set up in the other room.
Visually, this keyboard is stunning. The top plate is transparent and you really see the vibrant colors change as you use this keyboard. The keys feel very smooth and soft, great keyboard travel. The keyboard also comes with a detachable palm rest which feels great on my wrists as I do type a lot for work
The one drawbacks is I am no longer used to having wired accessories now. This plugs into the USB port in the back of our computer. I guess I’ve been spoiled to Bluetooth technology. Overall, this is a great keyboard with amazing responsiveness and brilliant coloring.

Good Starter Gaming Keyboard

If you're a PC gaming purist, you may initially overlook the Roccat Magma Membrane Gaming keyboard because it has membrane keys. This is because most gamers want a mechanical keyboard. That said, mechanical keyboards can be noisy, especially for late-night game sessions. Having tested the Roccat Magma for a few days, it's a responsive membrane gaming keyboard, with good key travel. I played a few rounds of Overwatch and Fortnight and didn't run into any noticeable lag or ghosting. The quiet keys also mean there were no complaints from my partner as I was mashing the keys.
Where the Roccat Magma stands out is the lighting (See photos). If you install the free Roccat Swarm software you can play with the backlighting. It's not a traditional backlight, as it's not the keys but the whole keyboard area. It's hard to describe, but when the lights are off (see the first photo) you have a white semi-translucent keyboard. The backlighting in the day is okay, but at night it looks amazing! There are multiple zones, so you can do patterns, waves, heartbeat, or solids (See photos). Personally, I love the green, it just looks awesome. I would note you can't color-code individual keys, so you can't light up just WASD, etc.
In terms of build quality, since the Magma is a membrane keyboard it feels a little lighter. The keys are softer plastics, nice to type on. The removable palm rest (see photo 1) is a nice touch but I prefer a padded palm rest so will probably use this without the palm rest.
Overall, nice affordable membrane gaming keyboard and if you play mostly at night, the colors are wickedly cool. A good starter gaming keyboard before you upgrade to Roccat's mechanical models.

Great value for a fully customizable keyboard

I am very impressed with the value of this keyboard. It is relatively inexpensive when you take into consideration the features and aesthetics provided. I didn’t have any issues with using this during long gaming sessions. Having the option of a detachable palm rest is a nice touch also. Once you install the ‘Swarm’ software from the ROCCAT website, you open a world of countless variations to both the lighting and the keypress sounds. There are numerous programmable lighting setups that you can use for particular games or just to use different variations throughout the day/night. Overall, I recommend this to anyone that wants to add some flare and customization to their gaming setup.

REVIEW:
I really like the unusual look of the keyboard, the keys seem to float in a pool of light. This is a crowded field at this price point and for lighted membrane keyboards you have lots of choices. It is pretty quiet, and works well for casual gaming.
If you are a W-A-S-D player, there is nothing to indicate tactically that your fingers are on the W-A-S-D keys. So, expect to check frequently that your hands are aligned. If you are using directional arrows there is nice wide spacing around the directional arrow keys that help avoid accidental keypresses.
Responsiveness is good. No complaints about that or ghosting while gaming. There is good macro and key assignment capabilities in the SWARM software.
There are no special dedicated keys for media and similar functions, or special purpose gaming keys. This means fumbling for the function key to mute or change volume for example.
The build quality is sturdy and looks like it was made to be easily cleaned. It almost looks spill proof or water proof, but I don't think it is. The frame and palm rest are sturdy, but somehow feel cheap. I'm not sure how to better explain it. Like they could easily snap apart if dropped.
As to the MAGMA Lighting, as I said, it looks cool, I really like it, and it stands out. The lighting is uneven seems to fade towards the top and is more washed out. Some of the lighting effects, don’t work in the SWARM Software in that even after you select an effect and press apply the keyboard does not match the screen. (yes I’m running the latest software / firmware)
Keyboards are highly personal. This is usually your main interface to the computer and the world. It will take some experimentation to find one that is perfect for you. I probably went through 20 keyboards (over the past 30 years) to find one I like for typing and a different one that I like for gaming. I am always on the hunt for the next better keyboard.
The ROCCAT - Magma Membrane Gaming Keyboard with Fully Illuminated RGB Lighting. It is worth a look, especially at this price point. Maybe it will be “the one” for you. The lighting is cool, I wish it had a few more special features or at least dedicated keys for media and other settings.

Right out of the gate, I love the lights and how they are on the full of the keayboard, Beleive it or not, it seems to be less distracting thatn the standard indevidual key lights, per se. I mea, technically they are all lit at on the base, but dang, if this doesnt look good to me. I promise,it looks better in person. As with most other RGB keyboards, you can download drivers to give it more of an personalized feel. Now to the meat. OMG, I love the feel of these key strokes. It doesn't feel like the other membrain keyboard that I use for my Switch. It didn't know it was gonna be a designated Switch-chat-board, but we don't always get to choose our life's path. Back to the Magma. The key travel is so comfortable, I'd rather use it verses the keys on my laptop. And I really love my laptop keyboard. Guess what I'm typing this review on. You got it dude. If you haven't figured out by now, yes. I recommend this very affordable keyboard to seasoned gamers and noobs alike. It's well built and functions so well. You know what, I'm done. Go buy this.

I love this keyboard. I've been using mechanical keyboards for years and I finally got tired of how loud and clackity they are. Even with linear switches, mechanical keyboards became a little too much. This keyboard is priced well and feels fantastic. The key presses are soft and tactile. The lighting is great and there's nothing I don't like about it. The software is simple and easy to use. Typing on this keyboard is very satisfying and I probably won't go back to mechanical keyboards because of it. I highly recommend it.

Pretty, But That's About It

If RGBA is your thing, the Kone Magma keyboard is really colorful and vibrant. It sacrifices a mute or otherwise non-colorful top plate for something that is fully illuminated. And it sure is pretty with all the different gradients that flow underneath all the raised keys.
But that's about all you'll get. You do gain access to Roccat's Easy-Shift and all the features that come with the Roccat Swarm software, so if you're a simple gamer and like colors popping out of your keyboard, this makes a great one to have.
The keys are not mechanical. Instead they are much quieter membrane keys, but they do have anti-ghosting if you need it (I don't). The palm rest feels kind of cheap and has a strange way of detaching itself: first you can attach it by snapping it into place just underneath the edge of the keyboard. Then to detach it, you have to fold it until it pops out. It seems very clunky. Both the keyboard and the palm rest do have anti-slip rubber pads though.
I think what I dislike most about this keyboard is the USB cable. While most of the keyboard seems great quality, the cable is a simple insulated sleeve that you'd find with any generic wired device. I'd have expected differently with Roccat.
I'd really only recommend this to those who have a neat RGBA setup and want to add even more to it, or if you're a simple gamer that needs a neat keyboard with good value. If not, you may want to keep looking.

I've had Razr, Corsair, Logitech and Steelseries keyboards but for the price, the Roccat wins every time. It's not mechanical but its membrane keys are a joy to type on. Of course the lighting on this keyboard is great because its the whole panel that is lit up not just the keys. Also the software that you can download to customize it is also pretty good too. Also includes a wrist rest as well. Can't beat it for the price. Will look into getting one of their mouse next.
