I needed a small keyboard because the one I have is too wide, I also wanted the ability to be able to type and use my hand keyboard at the same time. Why? It’s tactical. You want a job done right, you need the right tools and albeit this can be used to talk smack rather quickly in-game, it also helps to communicate when comms are down and you need to pull your keyboard out of where it’s at. I say this specifically because it’s happens to me. It’s an optical keyboard and I didn’t notice this until I started sniping. It’s on point when it comes to precision. Keystrokes feel amazing as well. Very smooth. There’s no tactile feedback so if that’s what you’re looking for, this is not it. I just want to mention the nob, at first I thought it was a bad idea. Then I was in game and some person started screaming. I simply turned the nob, I didn’t have to change volume setting on my computer, it was conveniently in front of me in nob form. I completely take back my first thought. It feels good turning it too. The keyboard is connected to a type C usb cable thats detachable. Simple and small. Perfect.

    Built like a tank!

When you first handle you'll notice it's got some weight to it and built solid like a tank - usually the sign of a quality item! Taking it out , I first installed the SWARM software then plugged in the keyboard. The software is extremely easy to use - a lot easier than other keyboard manufacturers. KEY lighting on the keys is nice and bright, and the loss of the numeric keypad on the right reduces the size down so that it doesn't take up so much desk space - I'm not sure why it's taken so long for these TKL (ten-key-less) keyboards to become more mainstream! Key click is extremely crisp and light - you can feel the moment the key is actuated. BTW, ROCCAT is a subsidiary of Turtle Beach, which for years has been known for it's sound products - I have no doubt this keyboard will last as long as it's sound products do and live up to the Turtle Beach reputation! Overall a very solid product that would be welcome on any computer that you don't count on the numeric keypad for!

I definitively like the performance of the Vulcan Keyboard. When you need the particularities of a gaming keyboard you are looking for resistance and speed in the reaction, those are elements that are coming with this model. In addition to that, I personally appreciate the size, that without sacrificing quality has the right dimension for a medium-size desk, liberating space for the other components like the mouse. Wire keyboard (not wireless), is coming with a USB-B and USB-C connectivity, that makes sure you are sure that any computer is ready to pair. I do reference also the nice feeling touch that combines the resistance of mechanical keyboard for exigent games with the fast responsiveness, this is a discovery for me and I love it. Two additional aspects that make me enjoy the Vulcan are the lighting mechanism that shines while in use (easy to turn off lights for more professional use) and the sound control directly embedded in the keyboard close to your fingertips. I have mix feelings about the design (defined as low profile), while it’s true that allows operating the keyboard from a flat hands position, the typing is not so friendly for long word documents. I guess that is the downside of going for the special performance of a gaming model. With all, I love it!

Roccat’s newest keyboard, the Vulcan TKL Pro Compact Optical RGB Gaming Keyboard, it’s a premium gaming keyboard with the price to match. Everything about it looks and feels premium, in a space saving design. Black brushed aluminum, this gaming keyboard has a nice weight to it as well, this keyboard was most likely designed for teenagers or adults that don’t have huge hands. Anyone with big hands might have some trouble with the keyboard but I think those people would know exactly what they’re getting if they do decide to get a compact keyboard like this. I feel like this is designed for someone who has a gaming laptop that prefers something a little better than the keyboard on the laptop itself. Set up was easy, literally plug and play, or if you choose you can download the Swarm software to customize the LED lights light pattern, macros etc. It has some cool features, for example the analog volume knob is a nice touch in this digital world though some people might not like it. Everything is powered by a USB-C cable.. his keyboard also featuresfingertip shaped keycaps, Advanced Anti-Ghosting, on board tournament profile and an intelligent lighting engine.

The ROCCAT Vulcan TKL Pro Compact Optical RGB Gaming Keyboard is truly a fresh take on gaming keyboards. First off when You pull out the keyboard you see the quality parts. When you hold it it has weight to it just screaming quality! Hooking it up was simple, but where it shined was in game! Games Tested: Apex, COD, Fortnite and WoW. What stood out to me was how responsive the keys were. Versus a traditional mechanical keyboard I got quicker input times on the Roccat. This gave me an edge when it mattered most!

This backlit keyboard is a rainbow of colors, so much so that your significant other is likely going to want to steal it and use it for their own device. The Swarm software controls are easy to work with and you can pretty much map anything you desire including a plethora of light displays. Typing is responsive and the keys feel great on the fingers.

Optical response paired with a very nice clicky mechanical keyboard. Love the sound each key makes. The smaller footprint frees up up some very valuable desk space too. Build quality is excellent and the RGB LEDS add a utility to your gaming that is sorely missed when you settle for a keyboard without it.

I've tried a fair number of mechanical keyboards over the years, but this was my first experience with one using optical rather than electrical switches. And my feelings on it are a bit complicated. There is definitely a lot of stuff that Roccat does right with this keyboard. The low profile design showing off each and every switch is striking. The build quality is exemplary, with a stylish brushed metal top plate and thick plastic body that exhibits absolutely no deck flex that I could detect. And the optical switches live up to their promise of delivering lightning fast response times in gaming with fewer points of failure and a smoother action than you'd get with a conventional switch. All in all, I'd have to say it's a very good gaming peripheral. What keeps me from giving it a full five stars is the fact that I'm a little less impressed by its performance as a standard computer peripheral. Simply put, actually using this board to type isn't great. There is no wrist pad, feet that only support a single angle of elevation, and the larger keys like the spacebar and shift keys have some extra play in them that results in them giving off a distinct "TWANG" noise when I hit them. There's also something weird going on with the ergonomics, as I find it very hard to spend more than a few minutes typing on it before wrist pain starts to set in. Now, in the interest of fairness, I feel I should probably point out that what keyboards do and do not work can vary widely from person to person. Just because my wrists can't tolerate this board doesn't mean that yours won't either - so I'd strongly recommend you go to a store and try one for yourself if you can before making your final decision. But speaking for myself, I just can't bring myself to rely on this as a daily driver.
