Customers are satisfied with the game's impressive graphics and enjoyable gameplay, finding it easy to learn and offering adjustable difficulty levels. However, some players express disappointment with the limited number of courses and golfers available, as well as challenges with the putting mechanics. The realism and career mode are also frequently praised.

Playing with friends or "partying up" with friends on the ranked option of multiplayer is not available. Overall great game!

I really enjoy this game. I play against my brother & my father-in-law, both are out of state, regularly. It has great graphics & game play. It's easy to learn & intuitive. Could be better though. Not enough courses at the moment & can become too easy after you've picked up the basics. Hitting out of the rough or the sand is too easy. There's not enough penalty in your lie or power when hitting from those place. It's really good, but not great.

After taking a year off you would hope they came out swinging with a great game. It is good not great, but better than most online reviews give it credit for. Sure it is missing many game modes. The career mode is light; however the career mode is what makes it a good game worth buying. Its missing a calendar of upcoming events but the game play and the way you don't have to play every hole makes it competitive. You have the option to play important holes or all 18. To me it makes it more fun then playing 4 full 18 holes rounds. It puts you in situations where scoring low on the holes you get to play is a must. I do want more courses. There are only 9. The ones they do have are fun and challenging. A few of the important ones are St. Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, and Chambers Bay. I will conclude by saying they could have done a lot more but the game is good and worth buying especially if your part of the Best Buy gamers club and can get it 20% off.

First off, the gameplay itself is very good. I find it to be one of the better ea golf games I have played strictly from a golf gameplay standpoint.
Where this game suffers is in difficulty, gameplay options, etc. EA has stripped virtually everything out of this game, minimial golfer customization, basic season type modes, lack of courses and real golfers, etc.
What I find the most disappointing is the season play. You start off playing the final event in the nationwide tour to earn your tour card. I finished 5th and earned my card. In my first PGA event, playing on the most difficult settings (no zoom, no spin, no power up, etc) I was able to shoot -20 and win by 6 shots. This is with my rookie golfer who is ranked in the 60's in most categories using the most basic clubs the game has to offer. What motivation do I really have to play anymore? In past years your rookie golfer would be horrible, shank shots, misjudge distance, etc and you had to fight to increase your attributes and earn club upgrades to get your player good enough to compete. Now you can be a top player in event 1. I find the game useless now unless you really enjoy playing golf on your xbox simple for the fun of it.

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour becomes the second "real golf" game on the XBox One and is EA's answer to the defunct Tiger Woods (TW) Golf series. The game engine has been remastered and provides a true simulation experience. Graphics are very good, especially with the entire course being loaded at once (no 90 second wait times between holes like EA's previous TW title). However, very disappointed that only nine real world courses included in basic package, compared to 20 in TW13. Developers have announced that additional courses will be free in the future. Furthermore, career mode and stats are not as in-depth as previous title. Multiplayer and online game modes are sparse; however, online game stability has been solid since day one.

Watered down Tiger Woods PGA Tour

I've owned every Tiger Woods game for the last few years and I've gotta say, this feels like a watered down version of the game. Many customization options have been removed. Less courses. That being said, the game feels more refined and more like real golf. It offers 3 different play styles to suit all levels of golf enthusiasts and the more I play it, the more I like it. While it definitely felt like 2/5 when I first laid eyes on it, it grew and grew to about 4/5. With EA promising free DLC, this game will eventually serve as a great replacement for the Tiger line of games. Wait for a sale (don't pay $60) and grab this if you like golf.

I was really excited for this game to come out and have been following it ever since it was announced. I'm a seasoned vet of EA's golf franchise, I have loved all of the games. This next gen title, however, is disappointing. The gameplay, the actual mechanics are solid. Not unhappy with that. That said, the lack of features killed this game. There are only 12 playable pro golfers, that's nonsense considering the previous titles had double that. There are only 8 courses (expect a dlc release and pay more money later). My biggest frustration and disappointment about this title is the story mode or the career mode. Character custimization is pitiful. You cannot make your golfer look like you anymore, no shaping the face, adding facial hair, or other vital characteristics that give your character your unique feel. Nope. Just 11 preset heads, 3 body types, and a couple of different ethnicities. That's as far as it goes. Which is baffling to me because the previous titles for the 360 and PS3 had many more features. It's downright embarrassing. To top it off there are only 2 playable game types with people, match play and stroke play. All in all this game had a lot of potential, but EA just seems that they quit halfway through and decided to leave the game feeling bare and vacant of features that many people loved for years. I'm not satisfied with this game at all. I would recommend waiting until it goes down under $30. I would say that's a fine price point for this game. I would not pay $60 for you do not get many features.

Simply, this is a golf game that is just a 'par'. The course's are fine. The gameplay is as hard or easy as you want. The graphics are nice. And, you can play friends online. Yet, you're restricted to stroke play only.
Negatives for this game: limited online game modes, limited created character attributes/looks, poor commentary from the commentators, and the lack of some courses. For years, we have been able to tee it up at Pebble Beach & Torrey Pines. But, not now. And no, Augusta is not on here, but that's not surprising. However, EA has added some courses to the original lineup, at no charge. So, maybe more are coming.
In short, get this game if you're a diehard golf fan. If you're not, you may wanna wait until it drops in price, or goes to the EA Access Vault.
For those of us that have played numerous Tiger Woods golf games for years, this edition of EA Pga Tour lacks the appeal of previous EA games. For someone new to golf games, this game should be sufficient.
Happy golfing, and keep it in the short stuff.

As a longtime fan of EA's golf games I was reluctant to purchase this due to the bad reviews, however I think it's a great game. The gameplay is smooth, graphics are amazing, and the career mode is fun. Sure it needs more courses, which will eventually come out, and I miss the facial recognition feature when creating a character, but I think some updates will come pour to enhance this game and make it even better

I have been a fan of the Tiger Woods franchise for years. I'm happy that Rory McIIroy attempted to capture many of the key elements, such as key golf courses, visuals, fluidity, and career mode. However, I was bummed that it doesn't have many major golf courses, let alone golf players. Putting is very challenging. I'm fine with some challenge but it is very finicky. Hopefully next year will show important improvements.

This game has some great aspects about it, less loading times, great graphics, smooth game-play. However it is lacking in courses, golfers available to play with, and the game modes just seem to be basic. EA did not get a birdie on this game, I would say it is bogey but has the potential to be a birdie if they can add some features with DLC. However, I enjoy golf games and will be spending a lot of time on this one just because my passion for these types of games.

R.M Pga Tour golf hits on some places and clearly misses on others. The career mode would be great if you could view a calendar or money earnings. Create a player is dreadful as compared to years past with only basics to design the player. Graphics are awesome on the next gen platforms but that doesn't compensate for other areas. Only 12 golfers? Also only 8 real courses. Updates could make the game much better!

Great game but limited courses and golfers, once they add more courses and playable characters the game will be a more complete offering. At this point when you play a season as your created pro you play the same courses over and over just branded as a different tournament.
Online multiplayer with friends is incredibly fun and the rounds are very quick with the simultaneous game play setup.

I've always enjoyed the EA Sports golf games, and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is no different. I'll admit that it's a bit light on courses, and definitely light on available golfers, but being on a two-year cycle and getting promises for free course/golfer content in the future makes me excited to continue playing, because the gameplay is just as enjoyable as it always has been.

It's a great game and a good start getting away from Tiger and into another era for this franchise. I wish it had more courses. I'm sure those are coming in a season pass or expansion or dlc but I wish it came with more. I do love the choice to pick between a couple swing styles. Overall, great game

The gameplay is great but, like other complaints, would like more customization of my character. Also more courses would be nice although I hear this is a 2 year cycle so I'm sure there will be a lot of dlc courses.

This is a golf game and not much more. It doesn't have very many game modes at all. Missing some pros and some courses I would like to play on. Other than that, this is a very fun game to play. The battlfield course is also fun to play on.

Takes a while to get used to. I've had issues where my swings don't register right away and I end up shanking the ball 20 yards out. It cost me the US Open win. Was hoping for some Kinect integration. Graphics are sub par (which is great in golf, not in a video game). Little customization with character creation. Apparel and equipment are unlocked through level progression. I was more of a fan of using monetary earnings to purchase these things in older Tiger Woods games. It is still a fun game to kill time, and doing well in tournaments feels pretty rewarding. Overall, the game is lacking in content and character. Too bad, too. I really like Rory McIlroy.
