Bought this unit for three purposes - charge my iPod touch, use as a bedside clock, listen to music. It charges the iPod flawlessly, so that aim is accomplished. In conjunction with the right app (I use Kensington "Rise and shine" because it's a nice landscape display and dims by swiping your finger across the screen), it functions well as a clock. As a music player, it's a bit of a pain. In order to get the iPod to play music through the SI dock, it's necessary to reboot the iPod while it is in the dock - if you don't do this, the music continues to come through the iPod internal speaker. When you do manage to get the sound to come out of the dock, it's a fairly rich sound with a decent volume achievable. Used in conjunction with "SmartAlarm" app, works well in allowing you to play music for a defined period of time, switch off the music and leave the clock on display (it doesn't do dimming though, which is why I don't use it as the main bedside clock). I'm hanging on to it rather than returning it because it charges well, and it's the best unit I can find for doing a landscape display. If they ever fix the sound integration side of things, and supply a remote, it would be a five star unit.

It didn't work! Plays music,but charge chime for iphone goes crazy,must be a glitch and can't get SI support on phone for nothing! I call the number on the manual 888-856-6781 and i get transferred straight to a vm. Very disappointed in this item! grrrrrrr

When I bought the ipod touch I loved it, but then I realized that when watching a movie, I don't always feel like holding the ipod, especially if I have popcorn or a drink while watching. I was looking around for something to hold the ipod to watch movies. And one day, while at Best Buy, there it was, an ipod touch holder made for movies that rotates. I was thinking about getting the bigger speakers to listen to music, but then I realized it would be hard to watch movies, so I waited, and this one appeared.

Taking it back ASAP, does not charge iphone 3gs and the rotating action is aweful. This is a piece of junk, do not buy!!
