This appears to be a simple solution to managing VHS and cassette recordings to bring them to CD and DVD. It was easy to load once I took it back to the store and made sure they scanned the additional bar code that activates the product..
After I have successfully used the product I will do a further review as to the operation and quality of it. From opening the site on my computer and reading the instruction book it appears to be a great comprehensive tool

Branded by Roxio, Device Branded as Dazzle, support through Corel... Give you a basic idea here?
I purchased this as a quick way to transfer an old VHS to DVD for my friend's funeral. Ended in losing 3.5 very valuable hours of my life.
Contained Install disk does not install proper drivers for Dazzle USB device. Win 7 does not recognize device, yet installs software. When connected no video feed is displayed. After pouring over many, many negative reviews and support articles of unanswered solutions. And reboot after reboot in a futile attempt to solve this issue, I not-so-quietly boxed it up, and promptly returned it to BestBuy for a refund.
BestBuy, If I were you I would take this off the shelf, unlist it from your site and tell Roxio/Dazzle/Corel to try a little harder if they want to be showcased in your establishment. Because it will only make you look bad. Especially if your return policy on open software is typically, only exchange. There is no possible way to have known this would not work until attempting to install it.
This was seriously reminiscent of the mid to late 1990's when attempting to install a peripheral on a Window ME machine that didn't like any driver you threw it's way and support was absolute 0.
No joke, as a tech professional by trade, this is a terrible product, terrible device and offers terrible (or no) support.
If you made it this far... DON'T BUY IT!!

I had a large box of VHS-C mini cassettes of my kids/neighborhood gatherings from the mid-nineties. I wanted to clear them out of my cabinet and decided I was going to to digitize them. I did some research and settled on the Roxio converter software. It installed on my laptop easily. I plugged my VCR into the supplied cabling and began uploading cassettes. The 1/2 hour cassettes each recorded into the software without a glitch and eventually ended up in a sub-folder I set up on my hard drive. I have now digitized perhaps forty old video-camera tapes, and when the time comes, I can grab selected clips from the library using Adobe Premiere Elements, and edit them into a birthday compilation or other family footage. More importantly, I can now toss the box of old cassettes. This software has additional functionality, such as converting audio cassettes or albums, but i have not yet used those applications. But for VHS tape conversion, it was brainless.

I have found the cables that connect your player/recorder to your computer are not of the highest quality. If you have issues and move the cables around they may go away. Moving the cables worked for me.
The device remains cool to the touch which is very nice. I tried to use another brand and it was so hot that it almost burned my fingers.
If you find that you have issues forget the mfg’s help line because they were anything but helpful. Every question was answered with a question that implied their product was perfect and the issues being experienced were obviously your equipments problem.
One solution floated was buy another computer and see if it works with it.
I can complete the project that I started, but I will not buy anything else from this mfg.

Easy to install and use. Needed to combine and burn to DVD some old v8 tapes from parents camcorder. The process was simple enough, plugs right into the USB port and records to your computer while you play it on either the camcorder or vcr (or whatever your media type). Only wish there were more editing options for the videos that you want to combine. It offers some editing capabilities, just not very advanced. But served its purpose and delivered what I needed.

Will try same movie again as the quality left a lot to be desired. The sound was not great and in some parts of the film the voices were out of sync with the original film. The color got better towards the middle of the film and cannot explain that. Will try converting same movie again on different setting. As a non techie, found following instructions difficult.

No problems after converting 10 hours of Hi-8 films to digital. Have yet to use it for VHS, but I'm sure it's just as easy. The software works very well and after a few recordings down, you start to get the hang of it. I love how you get multiple publishing options like burn to DVDs, iOS device, YouTube etc.

I'm not tech savvy, and found this easy for copying VHS videos to DVD. I was copying many video segments, and hoped to link them in an interesting way on the DVD. But the program didn't allow for that.

This product gets my highest rating for 1) cost since it does everything other devices do for 1/3 the cost 2) ease of use since it comes with the necessary software to convert not only VHS but any tape format machine that uses RCA or S-Video outputs so I can convert VHS, High-8, HIgh-8 Digital, and DV and Mini DVcam tapes. 3) it also does music so I have been able to convert my old cassettes to a digital format.

The software and hardware was easy to install and use. I was very happy with its performance. Unfortunately, my long-disused VCR wasn't working correctly and was eating my tapes! Therefore, while this product worked just great, I can't continue to use it due to other machine failures.

Some initial issues with setup. Had to run "repair" to get it to record to disc properly. Discs don't play in all dvd players. Customer service has been good thus far. Good for converting vhs to digital format. Still learning. Will update if my opinion gets better. Whether or not to recommend it is a tough question at the moment. Yes, with a big caveat.

I've always wanted to try something like this program, but never got around to it until now. I chose this program because of the extras that came with it, and it looked easy enough for me to use. I think it worked well for what I needed it to do.

I have not yet been able to use this software. The problem is not with the product but with my getting the proper equipment set up. The instructions seem simple enough and it should work if I can get a VHS player to play the tapes.

The problem lies mostly in the software. It is not very intuitive and the instructions are horrible. It is mostly trial and error to edit your videos. But when all is said and done you can record your videos and make copies.

Couldn't be easier. Use it to connect your VHS player to your PC, insert an old VHS tape, insert a DVD to your computer, click "start recording" and press "PLAY" on your VHS machine. There are other options to record to your PC first so that you can edit or combine old tapes before burning to a DVD.

The included directions are simple and straight forward to understand. No 'double talk' instructions. Setting up the VCR play mode to the computer was much easier than anticipated. The program did the conversion in real time and the results were excellent!

This is easy to use and gets the job done. The quality (which was already pretty low on old camcorder videos) does seem to be reduced even further, but I'm glad I was able to preserve them at all.

No issues with this product. Easy to use. Of course you have to buy upgrade to get some of the better features, but for just putting old VHS home movies onto my computer it is fine.
