    Pint sized powerhouse

The Samson Go-Mic is a pint-sized powerhouse. Are you looking to improve your audio quality on voice chats, podcasts without spending a lot of money? Well, Samson Go-Mic is your answer. It’s a tiny powerhouse mic that produces surprisingly clear audio recordings. This is SO much more than a step up to the tiny hole that acts as a microphone on your laptop or an external webcam. I bought this Samson Go-Mic partly to improve the audio quality of my voice-over narration of some of our work how-to videos. This little mic is amazingly clear, and frankly quite a stunner. I was not expecting the audio quality from such a tiny device. Design & Build Quality: The build quality of the microphone is solid metal and its got weight. The packaging comes with a travel case + USB Mini Cable, and that’s about it. There is an offer for free software for audio editing in the box which I have downloaded but have not installed yet. The overall design of the microphone is neat. Its tiny diminutive frame foldable frame has space for a zero-latency 3.5mm jack, and the mic supports both Cardioid and Omni direction recording, with a -10db padding option for cardioid recording mode. The tiny microphone has a tiny LED on the front that lights up green when on, and red when it detects plosives, or you are clipping the audio a bit. A plosive is a thump or strong blast of air from certain consonant sounds (like letter “P”) that hit the microphone. It can make the audio sound very bad and hard to correct in post. Plosives can be reduced by the use of a windscreen, or using the mic off-axis. That said the Samson Go-Mic does seem to have an affinity to plosives, but that can be controlled by the use of a screen or just moving the mic a bit off-axis or you being a bit further away. That said it’s not the worst when it comes to Plosives and it really isn’t a fault of the microphone. So how does it sound? Well, the sound quality is amazing. I’ve been using this tiny powerhouse on my laptops and now desktops. It’s so tiny, it’s easy to lose it. But the amazing sound quality makes up for it. I tested it on various zoom and MS Team sessions and people could tell that I was changing mics around without me mentioning it. Using Audacity, I recorded test samples and they sound amazing. They don’t require much post-processing to enhance the audio. Ultimately, the quality of the audio for the price is amazing. This should be worth a lot more. That said if you are looking for a microphone to improve your podcasting/stream videocasting / voice transcription or any other audio related activity, upgrading to this cheap microphone will step up your game significantly and improve your and your listener’s overall experience.

What a great buy! The mic on my computer stopped working. I had Zoom call coming up and I didn't have time to leave my laptop with the Geek Squad to troubleshoot the problem (yet). I found this Go Mic on the shelf, plugged it in and it works like a charm.

Didn’t have high hopes for this mic as it is tiny and super cheap. But the reviews convinced me to make the purchase. Well... it blew all expectations out of the water. So long that you speak directly into the mic at an equal level to your mouth (i.e., not speaking from the side and not on a surface lower or higher than your mouth), it will sound crystal clear. Small mic pops still occur (it’s not perfect but hey it’s easy to use and $49) but they are very rare if you have fulfilled the above conditions. HIGHLY recommend for all endeavors - my friend and I use it for podcasting. It can support two voices at once so long that you’re both speaking straight on/directly into the mic and it additionally does well recording audio over zoom.

    Sensitive Microphone Is Great

The Samson-Go Portable USB Microphone is the best microphone I have ever purchased. Its compact size easily fits in my pants pocket even when the microphone is in its case. This microphone is sensitive; when resting on my desk, if I thump the desk, it will momentarily flash red. Recorded sound has superior quality.

I got this to use with my company issued HP laptop. Works great and much better sound quality than the built in microphone. Been using it for zoom conference calls and also outgoing/incoming phone calls through our Cisco phone app. Nice to be hands free vs a mic/headset combo. For $ 40, well worth it and the size is great! Setup was a breeze, plug and play, nothing to download. Clips onto the lap top and easy to store in a laptop bag or backpack.

This tiny mic will fit in a pocket or purse, yet it delivers much better sound in Zoom meetings than the built-in mic of my webcam. People tell me my speech is understandable now instead of being muffled. It's perfect for either a desktop or laptop with its built-in stand. It comes with a zippered cloth case. I ordered it from Best Buy late in the afternoon, and it was on my doorstep the next morning! Good quality for the price. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Great step up mic for laptop voice recording

Wanted better audio than the default Lenovo Thinkpad mic. Do a lot of webinars and bought this in particular to record screen walkthrough with voiceover. I like that this is small and portable. Keep in mind I recorded this in a hotel room with AC going on in the background so I couldn't have a really nice mic that picked up everthing. I started using a Samson Bullet and it picked up the fan in the background so back it went. This Go Mic blocked out the fan in the background using the -10db mic setting. I recorded with all 3 different settings and that's the one that worked recording a how to with just screen capture and voice without getting in too much background noise. I use this on the road in less than ideal conditions. I wouldn't use this with anything but simple voice. My home mic for recording voice is an xlr mic with 286 preamp/processor. I rated this 5 stars because it perfectly met my needs of recording a simple voiceover how to video using screen capture sw and not because it's the best mic out there. It works for me because it's not very sensitive at the -10db setting.

I teach martial arts. With all the social distancing and policies regarding gyms and classes, I quickly switched to online classes. I typically use my phone on a tripod to record and that works well as long as there is no ambient noise or wind. Phone, tablet, and laptop mics pic up noise and wind which bleeds into your recordings and makes you hard to understand during live events. I picked up this mic (and usb to usb c adapter) to see if that would help, and it was night and day difference. Major upgrade to just using your built in mic. You will want to either buy or build a wind sock to cover the mic however, (I wish one was included). After that upgrade and the addition of a homemade sock to cover the mic, I was able to conduct class or live stream outside with no issues. In one event, there was enough wind to move and tip my tripod, but the wind noise was drastically reduced. You could hear my voice just fine. Great product at a good price. The only things that would make it better would be to include a wind sock and usb c cable.

This mic is probably the best pc mic you can buy for under 50 bucks. I noticed an immediate increase in sound quality on my live streams and you tube videos. This mic can switch from unidirectional to omnidirectional with flip of a switch. It also small enough to fit in your pocket. Works on Mac or PC without software.

Purchased this, as it was needed during the transition to continued remote work. Overall it works exactly as expected, but with some important notes. - It uses the older mini-USB connection, which is pretty outdated at this point. If you misplace your cable, getting a replacement will be harder (obviously not impossible). - The microphone is VERY sensitive, which is good and bad. I have had coworkers note the quality good, but could be easily overpowering if not careful. Could easily pick up laptop fan noise which also was annoying. Overall, a good purchase, and i continue to happily use it.

Better than a built in mic or headset mic

It is a cardioid mic. It is not nearly as good as a Blue Yeti. But it's way better than any built in mic on a laptop, tablet, phone, or headset. Feels sturdy enough, light, and easy to carry around/use. Not the best recording situation as it sits on top of the monitor and can pick up typing noises. The cardioid pattern helps block out unwanted background noise. Voice reproduction is okay. Very crisp, if a bit light. It doesn't produce the same quality, depth, or richness as Blue or Fifine usb mics which cost more. For work, conferences, calls, teaching, this works great. Great value.

PROS: 1. Easy to install (plug and go). 2. Easy to pack away (comes with a pouch bag that stores everything well) 3. No problems being heard in gaming environments (often told to turn it down actually). 4. Very strong clamp to hold onto laptop monitors or desk areas. CONS: 1. Instructions are rather simple and left some confusion. I had to go on their website and then Google the terminology to understand what the mic options did. 2. This mic I purchased in Fall of 2018. It now has died in Spring of 2020. Rather disappointing as the construction suggested otherwise. Only used it for gaming on my desktop and sometimes my laptop.

For the money, this microphone performs like an expensive brand microphone. Make sure you know what the pattern switch is for and what frequencies are best suited for what you are recording. This will maximize it's performance. ***The software is horrible, you have to set your PC date prior to 9/30/2019 for it to even install because the certificate expires after that date. I use Audacity and it works flawlessly! I gave it 4 stars just for the quality and value...again, the software is horrible!!!! SAMSON, are you listening? There needs to be a different software included, MOTU Audiodesk STINKS!!!!!

The best part about this little guy is that I don't have to be very close to it to be loud enough for my teammates to hear me. Through discord it's very good at picking up only your voice, but through some game's voice chat they can hear when you click on your keyboard. Very nice to have with my cluttered table, but it doesn't fit on my monitor, doesn't necessarily need to though.

The internal mic in our laptop was not very good for musical performances, so we purchased the Samson Go Mic. The latter is reasonably priced, easy to use (plug-and-play), compact, and yields a much fuller sound in recordings. It appears to be sturdily built, should last for a long time, and comes with a small zippered storage case.

Great little microphone for the money. This little thing does an amazing job. I used it instead of the built-in mic on my Macbook Pro. The built in mic works great except that the fan is right next to it so it sounds like an airplane when the fan kicks in. My son uses it to record bass guitar on his Chromebook. It does really good at that.
