I bought this laptop after my dell finally died and I have to say it’s way better. I don’t know why it has any bad reviews it works great. It’s lightweight and compact. Super fast and I can do a multitude of things at a time. Sound quality is pretty loud, and I love the apps you can download onto your home screen. It also soft shut downs itself when you’re inactive and charges fully within the hour

Great Price, Conflicting Product Info from BB

The pre-Black Friday pricing on this Chromebook is certainly appealing, particularly from a well-respected electronics manufacturer like Samsung. However, Best Buy website has presented conflicting information on what you are actually buying. This review is purely to provide information regarding that, as this product will not be opened and fired up until Christmas at our house.
The high level product categorization is: Samsung - 11.6" Chromebook - Intel Atom x5 - 2GB Memory - 16GB eMMC Flash Memory - Night Charcoal (notice no mention of "Chromebook 3") A device with those specifications listed on the packaging are indeed what I received from In-Store pickup today, and was also listed as Chromebook 3. However, the detailed product description lists this as Chromebook 3 with Celeron N3060. Here's where it gets confusing, and why... Auto Update Expiration Date (where Google will continue providing support to the device).
Printed on the cardboard box from Samsung, it states "This product will continue to receive automatic updates until June 2021." However, the Chrome OS website states that Chromebook 3 will receive support through June 2022. I am not stating which support date is correct, but this is something you should consider when purchasing a product with conflicting marketing information.
For the price I paid and the fact I am giving it to a 7 year old who's going to get a school provided Chromebook in August of 2021 anyway? It's somewhat irrelevant to me. But if you are hoping for longer term support from a device, I recommend enhanced due diligence so you understand what you are buying.

I thought Best Buy had made a typo listing this Samsung Chromebook 3 as coming with an Atom X5 E8000 CPU (actually it’s a micro-motherboard “System on Chip”, much more integrated than Old Skool CPU motherboards). My 3 purchased last year with 4gb/32gb came with an N3060 Celeron. Now, the low-end Celeron series like that N3060 are really just Atoms allowed to run faster (and hotter), they actually have same processor “architecture” as release-date matching Atom-series SOC’s like this X5 E8000.
In this case, my new Samsung Chromebook 3 is, in fact, running on an Atom vs. last year’s running the N3060, so it runs slower, but guess what, it is as fast as last years maybe faster because the Atom E8000 has 4 cores but the N3060 only 2 cores. It’s definitely faster than my low-end N3060 Windows 10 “Win-books”,
So. This makes a great browsing and typing tool. I can work on a Google Doc word processing document in one tab and easily switch to background tabs for research. I haven’t loaded more than 10 tabs, and I don’f play music on YouTube etc. in the background - I manage my processor load to leave resources free for the real work (also uninstalled the Android support in Settings, and turned off Google Assistant).
Caution: the Google Chromebook program is under a lot of criticism for early expiration dates for brand new computers - my $89-on-sale Samsung Chromebook 3 had a bleak note on its 3-months old carton declaring there would be no updates after June 2021 (yes the manufacture date on my unit’s carton was only 3 months ago). This expiration date was extended last week to June 2022. That’s still short, and either Google will be exposing a lot of users to hacking after that, or creating a lot of e-waste, so I and others are hoping for support at least a long as Windows gets.
Oh - an internet website recently destructively drop-tested 10 different Chromebook models and this inexpensive Samsung was one of two that survived.

Needed a simple, small portable computer to check email and web browsing. This was Black Friday deal for under one-hundred dollars. Pros: Cheap, very light and battery lasts a long time. I fully charged it when I first set it up and did not use again for almost a week; the battery was still half full. It's fast and performance does not lag.
Cons: No touchscreen and have to use click pad, which is a pain, but I installed a mouse to make it easier to navigate. It's a chromebook, so cannot use wordperfect and other windows software I use for work.

Purchased this Chromebook for my kindergartner to finish her school year on digital learning. It is perfect for us. It is just the right size for her and very easy to use. The only thing I wish was that we could log in to the computer with a numeric code and not the email associated with the account. It could be a feature but I haven't figured it nor looked into it much. It hold battery power very well and charges fast.

I never even considered a Chromebook or anything like a tablet/notebook. I had been shopping around for a new laptop to use mainly for job search, resume writing and just general internet surfing. When I saw the price for this during all the hype with holiday shopping/deals at 4:00 am while checking the time on my iPhone, I bought it without knowing anything about it! So far I have been very happy with it. I have been using it a lot to attend online meetings. I've just started figuring out the whole Chrome concept, with Google and all the options available. I like its portability, lightweight and slim design. The only downfall I have really run into is when I don't have wifi near me and I want to use it. I use an iPhone and haven't figured out all the technical stuff to connect to my hot spot. Over all I'm excited to have it!

I purchased this for my (then) 6 year old daughter for Christmas in 2019 with hopes that she'd use it occasionally (instead of her iPad) to get comfortable with using a laptop, learn keyboarding, and things of that nature. I never thought in a million years that she'd be using it daily for months on in, which is what happened once COVID-19 forced us into homeschool. I must say this computer has been incredible. It's lightweight, easy to set up and use, ok picture, and quality sound. The only issue I have is the charger. The charger cable is really thin, pin-like port which broke inside of the port. I was able to pry the piece out and purchased a compatible charger on Amazon. So far so good. I would recommend and purchase again in the event this one stops working.

I bought a chromebook laptop for it's reputation and the great sales price. Neither I nor the high school grandkids are disappointed. I have three of these chrome books so far. I have had one for a couple years the kids use it every time they come over and I Use daily. It is at the top of 3 more grand kids list for future purchases.

I had been tired of getting laptops for myself and my kids to use for work but the viruses and constant updates and lagging to turn on had me frustrated. Decided to give chromebook a shot and was not disappointed. Since its connected to Google/ internet, no need for me to do virus control or anything else, it does it automatically. All my information is linked just as its used on my desktop. And best part is this system works with my kids school IREADY apps for their homework (not many systems work with it). Its lightweight, easy to carry around, and as long as you have wifi (which is everywhere), you are connected to all your personalized stuff. This is our 3rd one in house so that everyone can now have their own. Great purchase.

I really wanted to like this laptop. I bought it at a fabulous price during Black Friday sales for my youngest child to use because his older sisters already use Chromebooks in their school system and I wanted him to get used to the operating system and to using a laptop, keyboard, etc. since he’s mostly used to his iPad and iPhone. But when I tried it out the screen was so bad. Even though everything else about this laptop was good—the Chrome OS is superior to using Windows (no lag in booting up or shutting down, no constant nagging for updates, excellent battery life)—I just could not get over how bad the screen is. We have various brands of laptops/tablets/smartphones in our family, from Apple to Samsung, Dell, Lenovo, Amazon Fire, etc. and even the cheapest ones have a much, much better and clearer screen than this one. I almost felt like I forgot to put my eyeglasses or contacts on, the clarity is just so awful. The age-old adage really applies here: You Get What You Pay For!

I love this little chromebook! I use it on the couch, in my bed, on the kitchen table. It's so fast and easy to use and synced up to my Samsung Galaxy S9+! I even found out that chromebooks don't need virus protection! This is much easier than trying to do everything on my phone!

This chromebook has a terrible screen, and it's slow when more than one task it's running. Know your expectations though. It functions perfectly as a spare laptop to keep around for checking email, web browsing, and even for homework. For the price I consider this a winner.

Bought to this for my daughter for Christmas. She loved it. It does everything her tablet does plus more. She hasn't touch the tablet since getting this. The battery last for quite a long time considering she watched videos on it.
