Very happy with this purchase. For $299 this is excellent value. I use this Chromebook as my main desktop computer, connected to a second monitor & external keyboard, mouse & speakers & it works great. If I have more than, say 8-10 tabs/windows open, the performance starts to slow down a little & there is a lag in switching between windows, so I need to occasionally shut some tabs/windows - but to that point, it is comparable in performance & features to my previous Pixelbook (apart from touchscreen, back-lit keyboard, which were nice but I can live without given the low price of this device).

I have been using this computer for a month. I am wowed by the performance of it, for what I use it for. I am an internet browser and Netflix watcher. Chromebook is perfectly specific for light use… not as much for hard core gaming, but with regards to that, my chromebook is lightning-fast for these uses despite not being as “powerful” as a high-end Windows gamer laptop might be. This was my first chromebook and what it tells me is that the Laptop industry has evolved to become more specific in making specific computers for specific uses, so I’m contrast to the 1990s and 2000s when you just generally had windows or Mac computers of varying memory, processor and hard drive space, TODAY they make different kinds of computers to be used for different purposes. The chromebook is what you want for general purpose internet use and will perform way way way faster than any Windows computer of a similar price. That being said, I feel like the build quality and picture resolution is not going to be what you’d get if you spent $500 or $1000 on a higher end chromebook. However, where even this cheaper chromebook stands out over a cheap windows laptop is that it responds instantly to input. There’s no sluggish behavior where the computer has to “think” and this is true despite only having a “Celeron” processor. There is only one drawback to chromebook. If you forget your password to get into the computer and have to reset it on your google account, you will NOT be getting your files back and it will wipe them. This is for security design, so chromebook might not be the choice for people who use laptops for work like design or business.

If you’re a graphic designer with Mac-level expectations for a laptop, then this would be 1 star. But if you’re someone who wants something very very simple that has fast internet and (contrary to some reviews) a pretty decent display, this is perfect. Yes, I have seen chromebooks with a much brighter display and better viewing angles, but this really isn’t bad if you’re only doing basic stuff like writing papers and surfing the internet. Even watching movies on this thing is pretty enjoyable, i think it looks great. For a 15.6 inch, it is super light weight. It is really a great purchase! Warning though - this specific chromebook does not support the android version of Blackboard.

So I decided to finally replace my ~15 y/o Toshiba Satellite that I love. I'm gonna miss the old-school style of laptops one could easily take apart and fix, if so inclined. I still have it, and it still works, but the touchpad stops working after putting in my security PIN and I got tired of using a wireless mouse the rest of the time. Anyway, I bought this on sale and have been very pleased so far. It took some time getting used to a new touchpad -- I'd never used used anything other than 2-button -- but going through the Settings has since cleared all that up. Coming out of sleep mode is instantaneous, as opposed to waiting a minute (or 4) with my old Toshi to warm up. Wireless internet up and download speeds are fantastic. 100-300 Mbps, depending in if I'm using 2.4 or 5. There is no way to connect w/ an Ethernet cable which is a bit of a bummer. My main use is just for internet stuff and streaming, so nothing too demanding. I suppose my only complaints are: 1) The internal battery. It bugs me that I can't buy a spare I can pop in for 'just in case' situations. Or when an old battery stops holding a charge and needs to recycled and replaced. I'll be going the route of only charging to 70-80% to extend the life... because that's what I read online and we all know the internet never lies. 2) No HDMI or Ethernet ports, which I already knew and it's not a huge deal. But they would be nice features to have. 3) The search button. For some reason I kept hitting it instead of the letter A and the new tab that pops up got on my nerves. Changed that in the Settings to Caps Lock and it's all good now. 4) Touchpad scrolling was opposite from what I'm used to. I changed that in the Settings as well. 5) The keyboard can be difficult to see in low light. Luckily there are covers that match up perfectly. Snap-on cases as well if you're clumsy like me. (see pics) So really no true deal-breaker complaints. It's a great value and would highly recommend for folks who don't need much. Zero regrets on this purchase, as of this writing.

The dual USB-C ports, both usable for recharging the 10h battery, is a nice improvement over my previous Chromebook - which used a proprietary (and too soon misplaced) recharge cable with the "phone" port on the left side. This is noticeably faster than my previous Samsung Chromebook 1 - and I quickly filled up the 32G mass storage ("Flash Memory"). Having a conflict between using the single USB-A port for my Bluetooth mouse, and various USB removable flash drives, I found the MicroSD port, bought a 256GB Ultra Micro flash drive for the SD Ultra Micro port - and now have 150+ GB of available storage. I still hate the "touchpad" for precision work - so my Bluetooth mouse will always be part of my life. And the ability to move the recharging cable between left and right sides gives me improved ergonomics in seating, when I use it. The wide screen display makes it possible to zoom into different websites - and to use the Chrome "shelf" more effectively. And it still fits into my backpack, for carrying to remote locations. The sound system, with stereo speakers based in the "17 inch" form factor, is pretty close to home stereo quality. Alternately, it makes a pretty good music server, with my Bluetooth soundbar. Altogether, this is a good buy for $300.

This was a Christmas gift for my mom. She likes Samsung and wanted a "word processor". She was very surprised and happy when she received it. We set it up and got her started with the laptop. When I spoke to her last week she hadn't had much time to use it yet.

I got a laptop because I was watching TV on my phone got tired of the little screen just like anyone would. I recommend that you get a wireless mouse like I did the built in one isn't that great. All in all I don't regret buying this laptop or the 1yr protection plan. Also I would add that syncing your Bluetooth speaker is a solid choice.

Needed a computer for home use for the family and this device is great. Boots up in seconds, plenty of local space to work on files, easily install android or google apps from their respective stores. It was easy to setup profiles for the whole family and google family link makes it easy to set parental controls and timers.

This Chromebook, after a year, doesn't stay charged. It only lasts for a couple of hours. The plug for it didn't last and had to be replaced. The 2nd one I got no longer charges and I got that one in October. The brightness is set to low just to let you know and there are no other programs draining the battery. My child only looks at videos on it. You can't even play games on it. It will glitch. My child can do more on the school's Chromebook than the one bought at Best Buy. And to top it off, once the year extended warranty expired a few days ago, it doesn't hold a charge and I can't take it back. Waste of my $300.00+ on it.
