I picked up this unit during the Memorial Day sale for under $200, and at that price, I couldn't be happier! I've had my eye on this soundbar for a minute, so once it went on sale, I rushed to scoop it up! This an awesome little setup, perfect for a bedroom. I connected this to my Samsung 55" QLED television, with the subwoofer against the wall next to my bed. The soundbar is a great improvement over the television's built-in speakers, even though those speakers are still pretty good for a flatscreen television. The sub, even at default settings, has a deep rumble that I really enjoy. I can actually feel the vibrations when I'm watching something with plenty of bass! I particularly love the streaming option via Bluetooth; as I'm writing this review, I'm streaming iHeart Radio from my phone to the soundbar, and it sounds AWESOME! I also love the fact that I can stream to the soundbar without needing to turn on the TV. Once a mobile device has been paired, the soundbar will automatically switch to Bluetooth output when it receives a connection request. Setup was a breeze, especially since I own a Samsung TV, so everything was automatically recognized. I plugged everything in and once I connected the soundbar to the TV (I used HDMI ARC), the TV did the rest. Sound output was automatically switched to the soundbar and immediately began to play. Couldn't have been easier! I am definitely pleased with this purchase!

We were in the market for a better sound experience for our TV. Our previous sound system with blue ray was old and clunky so we never used it. While at best buy, I got a chance to demo a couple of options and I was impressed. We didn't want an entry level sound bar; we wanted something we would be happy with for years. Yet we did didn't want to spend too much because we are not audiophiles and I am not sure we would be able to appreciate the extra $100 or $200 for the high end sound bars. This product seemed like a good middle ground, and we wanted a Samsung sound bar to maximize compatibility with the TV. It turns out... it's fantastic! We have the soundbar connected through optical cable so I can speak to the Bluetooth functionality. What I love: - It's sleek and looks great with our TV - It works VERY well with our Samsung TV (as it should) - Love the LED that lets you know if volume is going up or down, and input, then disappears when not in use - It's a significant improvement from our TV sound and way loud enough - The soundbar turns on automatically when I turn on the TV - I can use the TV remote to control the soundbar - The sub-woofer connects wirelessly!! What I don't like: - The remote looks almost identical to the Samsung TV remote, so I've had to hide it because the wife and kids were trying to use it to change channels or go to Netflix, and getting frustrated that it wasn't working. Not a big deal We are very happy with this purchase

Brought it just to have a living room sound bar and received so much more than expected Samsung's connectivity made it to connect, still not expecting much and when it started playing I was amazed with the sound quality...superb. Excellent product.

Not sure why I’ve read the subwoofer isn’t suffice, but mine booms! Maybe other users don’t have it set on surround sound and maybe vocal but trust me, this sound bar sounds great! I think the volume goes up to 90 and I’ve only went up to about 35! I will say this when I used by iPhone with Bluetooth you would’ve thought I had a club downstairs. Seriously! My wife was like WTH is going on down here!!? This sound bar is used with an LG 60” tv.

This is being used in a kitchen so I did not want to spend too much money. I replaced a 36" Vizio 2.1 w/ a subwoofer. I liked the Vizio sound. The problem with the Vizio was finding a volume sweet spot. The volume adjustment was limited. The Samsung volume runs from 0 to 100 and for TV it is typically kept around 15. I am using an optical cable with an older Samsung TV using DTS Neo 2.5. I would expect an HDMI ARC connection to be superior. The current setting gives me heavy bass and a full sound. The dialogue is generally clear and crisp, though occasionally a bit overwhelmed by the bass when watching movies (including DVDs). Normal TV shows are no issue at all. The SmartSound setting works very well, but you do have the options of surround sound, standard and gaming. You can also adjust the treble, bass and the subwoofer using the remote. I was ready to exchange this for the HM-R650 because of the R650's center channel for dialogue. I brought it home and found it to be a bit more tinny to my ear, so I have kept the R550. The R650 was on sale, but I did not feel for my use that the additional $100.00 was justified. Of course, everyone has their own sound preferences and listening in the store is usually not the same experience as you get at home. However, I listened to all of the soundbars you could sample in the store in this price range and read the reviews. The R550 sounded the best to me. In this instance, my store experience was borne out at home. Set up with my Samsung TV took only about 10 minutes. With the optical cable it turns on and off with the TV.

      Joel:

I'm glad to see you are very happily enjoying this soundbar.

To improve content where dialogue is being drowned out in scenes with heavy bass (like action scenes), please adjust Dynamic Range Control (DRC). With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced.
      1) Turn off your Soundbar.
      2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display.
      3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

I had been waiting a while to see if any of these Samsung soundbars went on sale. My buddy had one (different brand) but nonetheless it was an awesome sound. I tend to go with Samsung all the way on stuff because it seems to me to just hold up better. Tv, blue ray player, 2 laptops and now this sound bar. I didn’t know what sound I had been missing with an almost 8 year old Samsung tv until I hooked it up and heard the bar for the first time. The only thing I don’t really care for is that I have to jack the volume up to about 60 when I’m listening to music before it sounds to me like it’s getting louder. On the regular tv watching I only go about 15-20. Depending on the movie I go to about 20 to 50. After about 10 years of riding around and shooting guns without ear protection on it could just be my ears though. But overall I’m happy with the product and I would recommend it to anyone who ask.

Sound is good, maybe not as good as it sounded in the store. The only thing wireless is the subwoofer and of course it too has a wire - i.e. the power plug. Haven't been able to test bluetooth connection because evidently neither of my older plasma tvs have bluetooth. It does connect to my Apple TV streamer though by Bluetooth with no problem and quickly.

I was using a $99 Fred Meyer special, so this is a total obtuse, black & white difference. I finally have bass! The set up couldn't possibly be any easier with only the power cords to plug in. The rest is all wireless Bluetooth awesomeness. I had it same day delivered and the packaging was impressive. you can spend as much as you want, but this is an incredible bargain for more than you might expect. It synched instantly and easily to my Samsung 65' curved. I am in an apt. for now, and my upstairs neighbor was almost complaining to me that he now hears some rumbling from me. Ha!-oh I've been enjoying for 3 months. The best part is playing my song lists from my phone. I love Bluetooth! Home stereo, movies, tv, now if only it could buy me a house!

I caught this on a $100 off special, and even at full price it would be well worth the money. Easy setup, took maybe 5 minutes. Excellent sound quality. I use it in my bedroom, but it would be fine in a larger room. I searched all the specs to see if it came with an optical audio cable and couldn't find anywhere that said it did, so I purchased one separately. Sure enough, it came with one. However, the one it comes with is pretty short and doesn't seem like it's of the highest quality, so I used the one I purchased separately. Overall, very pleased with the product.

For the price and name, it is hard to beat. I set up the surround system to my 65 inch Samsung TV in the family room. It was simple to set up and took less than 5 minutes to do. The system sounds phenomenal with my music playlist from my phone or on tv. The bass is really good. You can feel the impact of the movie through the background effects. The sound on tv shows is okay to great depending on channel or content. This is a certainly a good thing. Other speakers can be added to this surround system for those who want more sound. For the price I like it.

I have not quite owned this soundbar for a week as of yet, but I am completely impressed. I purchased this to match up with a new Samsung Q60r 55" tv. I have owned a Sony 300w soundbar for 6 years and it was having a few small issues playing nicely with the new Q60r. It sounded fine, but would not allow all features of the sound settings from the tv to be utilized. The Sony is very bass heavy. The reviews of the Samsung soundbar point out that it is not as punchy in the bass and has a smaller sub than my Sony. All of this is true, but it is enough! The sound is very pleasing to me. I turned the subwoofer up to 5 (6 is max), and it fills the room. The overall sound is more crisp and clear than the Sony, and the voices are clearer at lower volume which is great for when the kids are in bed. Best of all, it pairs perfectly with the Q60r and I can take advantage of the various sound settings and nuances built into the tv. It was a great choice. Sure, there is no Dolby Atmos capability, but if I wanted to spend $600 on a sounbar, I would have.

Bought this sound bar on a holiday sale to improve the sound quality of movies on my Samsung TV. It also helped with television programming when there was a lot of noise in the room. Sound bar was packaged securely, and all parts were included and in excellent condition. Fits nicely in front of my TV while overhanging the TV cart a little on each end. Not a big deal. Love the bass in adds which really makes it like you're in the movie. Almost like surround sound. Since it's the same make as my TV, I have the two synched up so that the sound bar comes on when the TV comes on. Very good purchase for the money for me.

I like how neat it fits on my tv stand. The only time you can tell it is working if you are watching a movie and something is exploding or something like that and some sport events. Some things you have to turn the volume up higher than other things. I watched a couple of concerts on dvd, and they sounded okay. I know you can't blame all of it on the soundbar, a lot has to do with the quality of the dvd you are watching. Overall I think it was a good price, I was expecting a little bit more.

These speakers are chock full of bass and high sound quality for its price. If you’re looking for surround this isn’t for you, BUT if you need superior sound at almost theatre level to replace your (more than likely lackluster) HD TVs speakers this is it. I do appreciate that the subwoofer is Bluetooth, which allows me to place it anywhere in the room. (Personally I put it under my bed to get everything shaking, quite immersive)
