Customers admire the 28” ViewFinity UHD IPS AMD FreeSync with HDR Monitor's picture quality, color vibrancy, and value for its price, frequently praising the HDR capabilities and ease of use. However, some users express concerns regarding the refresh rate and the monitor stand's sturdiness. Additionally, the lack of built-in speakers and the placement of the VESA mount have drawn criticism, as has the input switching mechanism.

It was love at first sight, and after sitting in front of them for 10 hours a day for the past few weeks, I'm very happy with my purchase. So here are the pros - size and 4K resolution are standouts; the detail, color quality, brightness, are wonderful. Since I spend most of my time staring at text (documents, code, email, slack) the eyestrain reduction has been very welcome (see images - the slight tint in color is because of this). I was fortunate to be able to get two of them to setup an office environment at home, and at this time I'd say they are almost perfect.
So the only thing I can say is that the controls (its a direction switch at the base of the screen below the Samsung logo) can be a bit finicky when you are just starting to use it. Things like turning them off can be a bit tricky if you have no inputs, as the monitors auto detect sources and can present options based on that. But once you figure that out, its simple to use. That really the only thing I've found and that me nitpicking.
One important lesson I've learned thought is not so much about the monitor, but about using 4K, especially multiple 4K monitors on an older laptop: You need an appropriate 4K Dock to push 4K content to all devices without issue. I have two laptops - one for work (a 2019 Dell Precision 7730 with Xeon processor) and my personal (a 2015 HP Omen 17t-W200 with Core i7 and and UHD screen) that I've connect the monitors to and while the newer Dell can push 4K to both monitors without any issue, my HP started stuttering and lagging just connecting one. After some checks, I found that the integrated graphics cards needed to be configured to use my NVIDIA card as primary or offload some of the processing to the Dock. I purchased the WAVLINK USB-C Dual 4K universal docking station (Model UG69PD2) with E-mark chip and it supported all three screens at 4K@ 60Hz from both devices without issues. It also supports Mac and has a built in 100W power to the laptop and devices (if your device supports it). If you are having issues with refresh of you purchase this monitor, I highly getting a dock. It'll provide a lot of flexibility and expandability for you.

I purchased this monitor as an upgrade to an older, smaller monitor to improve a home office experience and it does not disappoint! The large clear screen works perfectly for reading text and large spread sheets and when used with Windows 10 the “snap” feature is as good as using a two monitor set up.
Having two HDMI inputs is extremely versatile. I use one as a dedicated input for my HP ENVY laptop, and the other as variable Input between a Nintendo Switch Dock, Microsoft Surface, and XBox One S console - and they all work perfectly on this monitor. A nice bonus feature is eye saver mode which ups the sepia tones to reduce eye fatigue - this is great if you’ve ever spent 8+ hours in Microsoft Excel!
The Xbox One S autodetected the use of 4K And HDR and I was pleasantly surprised with the color range and default settings right out of the box. I didn’t even change them for gaming!
The monitor itself is very attractive and the semi bezel-less design is really striking when the monitor is on. Really makes the monitor look huge when displaying content.
The lack of built in speakers is maybe the only downside for me, but with HDMI pass through and a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack on the back of the monitor you can set up one set of speakers with no hassle and have it apply to all inputs which is a great feature. I use this monitor with a set of desktop Logitech MX speakers and it works perfectly with no loss of audio quality that I can detect.
Overall this is a great purchase and I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a large, bright and clear image for work or play alike.

Bought this as a monitor for my Macbook Pro M1. When i hooked it up, the mouse seemed a bit laggy and turns out that the included HDMI cable only supports 4k at 30HZ. Bought a DVI to a usb c cable and tried it that way and was able to get 60hz at native 4k which was a very noticeable difference. The picture quality is very good and the hdr function is great! The only complain that i would have is the stand which extends more than it needs to in the back and it doesn't make it ideal for narrow desks.

I’m super finicky when it comes to monitors. Backlight bleed, stuck pixels, ips glow, refresh rate, response time, Gsync, Freesync, IPS, VA, TN, CRT! Bleh bleh bleh.. This is by far the best Monitor I’ve ever owned! I’m a gamer but a graphics snob more than anything..
Pros: The colors are top notch, the IPs glow is the lowest I’ve ever seen on a monitor, backlight bleed is almost non existent, 4K and 28inch makes ppi of 160+! the picture super sharp, quality control seems to be in check! No stuck or dead pixels on mine, Freesync works great with Nvidia even though it doesn’t have compatible sticker, the response time is great! At 60hz I get very minimal ghosting which is insane! Idk how Samsung did it, and HDR isn’t bad at all! Not amazing but Bright enough.
Cons: Stand isn’t great, You can only tilt. That’s it! But I got a monitor arm.
I LOVE THIS MONITOR!!!!!

Before I get into the problem with this display, I have to first say it’s the best monitor I’ve ever owned. 4K looks incredible on 28”. It looks super premium and matches well with my Mac in my workspace. - I had limited desk space and I prefer this hands down over having two different 1080p screens in the small area.
With that said, one major issue I had with this monitor is something I’m seeing repeated a lot. And that’s the issue with the screen going black with working with a Mac.
I own a 2019 16” MacBook Pro, and my job actually sent me the same exact Mac to be my work computer. I have a multi port adapter I use for both Macs which gives me access to a keyboard and mouse and to the monitor by flipping it from one MacBook to the other. I’ve switched the plug ins a few times a day since I’ve owned this monitor.
I got hit with the black screen issue recently, but I’ve found a way to “fix” the issue that is really odd and points more towards a Mac issue itself. - To fix it, I have to make sure the laptop is plugged into a power source before connecting the external monitor -and- even if I do that, when I switch computers I have to unplug the hdmi cable and plug it back in (Mac side not from back). I think the Mac does something where it alters it’s resolution or refresh rate when not plugged into a charger and the monitor kicks it off of the page.
I would still rate this monitor 5 stars, but the part of this issue that the monitor owns is that it doesn’t have a very...um... intuitive way to switch between which hdmi port is being used. No matter what you set it to; it just jumps off of the page based on what gave the last input. Don’t expect to comfortably use two different computers at the same time on it.
But with those very annoying issues out of the way, I still feel like this is a great buy especially for the sale price. You will not regret how it looks

Normally I wouldn't purchase a computer monitor without seeing it in action first but I was looking for a 4K monitor to work with my Mac Mini M1 I found this one. I did my research reading reviews on different websites and watching YouTube videos for several days and then made the purchase. I was using a HP QHD 32" with my Windows PC and very happy with it but with for my Mac Mini I wanted 4K. Since my desk is only 48" wide and glass I had to figure out how to fit two monitors and I was successful. I am very happy with the Samsung UR55, it was so easy to assemble and was ready to connect to the Mac in minutes. The height wasn't a problem for me because I already had monitor risers for both of them and the angle was also perfect for me. The colors in the UR55 monitor is outstanding and vibrant. I do have 4k HDMI and Display port cables but so far I haven't hooked them up. I will probably connect the monitor to my Mac via Display port so free up the HDMI on the Mac (it only has 2 HDMI ports). The pictures below is connected with the HDMI provided with the monitor. As you can see it looks great with clear details. The quality is great and at a reasonable price. The colors are amazing but you can make adjustment if desired. I was amazed at how light the monitor (12 lbs) is since my 32" is 20 lbs. It might have a 28" screen but it is only 25" wide. Also impressive the response time is 4 milliseconds while others are 5 milliseconds and more expensive. The Refresh Rate 60Hz which is impressive.
No buyers regret on this purchase and I would recommend this 4K monitor to a friend or anyone that ask me about it.

Color and Sharpness near Mac Studio Monitor level

I own a mac mini and have a mac studio display that cost $1600, love it but I needed a 2nd monitor and wasn't paying another $1600. I tried two different LG monitors, but didn't like the color and sharpness, too far off the studio display, didn't think I would find a reasonably priced option until I found this one on sale from $350 down to $230 and thought I'd try it out. Picture quality is great! Very close to the apple studio display. Of course you don't get all the bells and whistles, but most of us don't need them. I changed the brightness down to level 10 and increased the blue color, and the closeness it has to the studio display is amazing! I went to buy two more for my laptop and my wife and found that the price went down another $30 to $199. That's a steal! Even at $350, it is well worth it!

The monitor colors and text fidelity is great! While I had trouble first getting it set up (HDMI cable that was included was broken, HDR was bugging out with my mac, etc.) it's mostly working fine. A weird high pitched buzzing noise will play with this monitor, and I figured out why. If the amount of power your monitor isn't high enough, you'll be able to hear the power buzzing. It's not that noticeable with headphones especially noise cancelling, but very if you have them off. After around a half a year, the button on the bottom of the monitor started to wack out, and I'm now unable to change a lot of settings because of it. I can still change the basics, such as brightness and volume, (when pushing left, it thinks I pushed right, when pushing up, thinks I pushed right, it was a pain to use even when it was working properly) but it's still a bummer. It's also very heavy, making it a bit of a challenge to move. I would've given it 5 stars if it weren't the mechanical issues. However, it's great screen quality had persisted, no pixels or screen discoloration has happened yet on a relativity high brightness for a very long time (exactly one year).

Purchased a monitor solely for the purpose of needing more screen space to work/study from home during the whole quarantine thing. Went back and forth between this and the LG ultra wide 34”. Ended up deciding on this because price was similar and would like to use the monitor for gaming purposes as well. Super easy to assemble and quality is superb. I have it connected to my MacBook Pro 13” w/ Touch Bar that was released in mid-2017. Using a usb-c to HDMI cord I purchased from amazon. Only downside is no speakers on the monitor, so connecting via the usb-c to HDMI cord actually disabled the volume on your MacBook Pro.

Good: Sharp picture, great for text.
Ok: Color is a bit too red, obvious when next to calibrated monitor. Input selection is awkward - cannot just select a source, need to cycle through the three.
Bad: VESA mount is in the upper third as opposed to the center or bottom like other monitors. So if you mount it on an arm, you lose 3-6" of height. Also, a standard combo 75/100mm VESA plate will not fit. You either need a 75mm-only plate, or add enough spacers/washers with longer M4 bolts so a normal combo plate will clear the case. Some designer picked form over function.

I purchased this monitor for my Xbox One X. Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 & Resident Evil 2 looks amazing in HDR. This monitor also supports FreeSync which is great. The picture quality is superb and is one of the few Samsung IPS panels out there. If you own a Xbox One X/PS4 Pro it’s a must buy.

I have utterly no issues with this monitor. It's clear, nice, and gets the job done. I play games that are not graphically demanding and i play games that makes a 3080 RTX card cry out in pain and I've experience zero issues with my monitor.
The HDMI cord it came with was bad. So I would buy a nicer one. However, every Samsung product i buy comes with a crappy HDMI cord so I wasn't surprised and I was prepared.
No ghosting. I know it's 60 hz but seriously, it's a great monitor. I reviewed this 7 months after purchasing it to get the full effect of this product too

Wanted a UHD monitor because HD just looks terrible for most applications, especially when using as an extended display with a laptop screen that is UHD. This monitor looks great, crystal clear at 3840x2160. My laptop does not support 3840x2160 at 60hz ... but even at 30hz it looks great (a little jittery when moving windows around etc but still looks good. What's most important to me is the clarity of text. All around a great monitor ... i would never consider buying another monitor that isn't UHD after owning this.

I waited to review this monitor so I could get used to still the features it has. I can't say enough about this monitor. The colors are vibrant, the controls are ready to adjust and it's had a beautiful picture at almost any angle. The price point is great for a true 4k monitor, though it's by no means a"gaming" monitor, it is fantastic for a daily use work monitor. I have it as a second monitor vertically mounted at I have a 36 inch gaming for my main display. I find myself using this monitor more and more and I fell it's a great purchase.

VESA mounting issues

If you're not using the VESA mount, this review won't matter to you. Beyond the mounting issues mentioned in other reviews making it difficult to mount to a standard 75/100 mount, I found another. Because the VESA mount location is so high on the monitor, the monitor sits a few inches lower than most monitors which have the holes in the center. On my standing desk, my 28" Viewsonic works well standing or sitting. The Samsung sits so low that I can't raise it to the correct level, I have to tilt it up instead. See photos below. I also couldn't use it on my other desk where I have a dual mount stand because of the height difference. It seems like Samsung made a great monitor with a huge, unnecessary, flaw in the VESA mount design.

It's only been a few days, but am happy with my purchase. the monitor is as described. Colors, sharpness, everything is perfect for writing, creating presentations, and coding. Love the small bezel design. As others have stated, the VESA mounting area is a bit small and the bracket overlaps the top of the indentation. (see attached pic) Otherwise, I love it and it deserves 5 stars.
