I bought this washer from the Best Buy Outlet store in my area and initially thought I'd gotten a really bad deal as the washer started making a horrendous noise during the first use. Upon opening up the back of the washer, though, I found out that all that'd happened is that a little plastic circuit board cover had come loose and was banging up against the drum. Putting the plastic cover back in place solved the problem and now the washer is running perfect! The only thing I'll note is that the little "toss it in while washing" door does have a sensor on it and will pause the cycle if you open it. No big deal as you just need to hit the start button again to resume the cycle, but still just an odd bit..

Great washer, very quiet. I was concerned that the unit might not fit properly, but they were able to fit it in the laundry niche. I particularly like the remaining time display.

Bought this 3 years ago at first it was ok then it started stopping after the wash cycle. Had it repaired worked for 2 months then started again was told needed to change pump and motherboard which is more than the costofa new one. End up getting a new one same (because of limiting supply) and cheap price. Same day it was delivered i noticed a leak from door called Marchant to come and pick up their machine. End up buying a different brand. Stay away from this do not look at the cheap price.

With its blue door reminiscent of a spaceship porthole, its somber stainless steel, and its control panel buzzing with diodes, this washer is the strongest technological statement that you can make in your laundry room. There is no doubt that this washer is the result of intense research from Samsung. For instance, the design, usage, performance, energy consumption, soundproofing, and connectivity are all cutting edge. In a nutshell, this Samsung washer has it all.
Let's start with the AddWash feature, of which Samsung proudly gives the name of this line of washers. Any item forgotten after starting the washing cycle can be added through the AddWash door. This brings a level of convenience which is unmatched by any competitor. With AddWash, there are no more excuses for not switching to a front loader.
There are indeed many good reasons to prefer front loaders to top loaders. For instance, front loaders are much much more energy efficient. According to the EnergyGuide, this washer uses 100 kWh per year, which is about a third of the energy consumption of a high efficiency top loader. With power consumption of 200W in wash mode and 550W in spinning mode, this washer should be the prime choice for any conservationist.
This washer is also brilliantly quiet. Silence is another traditional advantage of front washers but, with its brushless motor, I have to check through the door to know whether the machine is actually tumbling. In active spinning mode, you can hear a little humming noise, but overall, it is remarkably quiet.
So, how does R2-D2 wash? Pretty well so far. My white socks that I use for gardening – don’t ask – came much whiter than with my previous washer. There are many functions, which is great, and it is possible to save your favorite mode such as: normal + extra spin + rinse for example. It is large enough to clean our winter king size duvet and there is a dedicated bedding mode. The “quick wash” is particularly impressive, delivering a load in just thirty minutes. According to Samsung, the steam technology, that this washer uses, helps tackling the deepest stain and reduces the washing time.
Finally, there is a possibility to control this washer with your phone. There is a dedicated app designed by Samsung for it. Should a problem arise, this feature should also help to troubleshoot the washer. However, in order to use this “Smart Home” technology, you will have to purchase an adaptor. Given the price tag of this washer, it feels a bit stingy from Samsung that consumers have to spend another $25 on Samsung website to fully enjoy the washer: this deserves to be included in the package.
Regardless of this minor adaptor issue, this washer represents a giant technological leap forward, and ticks all the boxes, which should make it the prime choice for anybody shopping for a new washer

This washer works awesome, barely uses any water. Cloths always come out smelling and looking clean. Cleaning the seal is a pain but just apart of the maintenance.

Received the matching set for Mothers Day! The washer cleans the clothes ridiculously well, the musical "cycle finished" tune seems to actually makes washing less of a chore! I love the add-a-wash door as there is inevitably a sock that turns up AFTER we've started the wash. The machine is very quiet and has lots of cycles that cover SO many options. We were deciding between the 4.5 cubic foot and 5.0 cubic foot washer, but since the children handle their own laundry, I thought the 4.5cf would be sufficient. In anticipation of the washer/dryer delivery...we let the clothes pile up a little larger than our normal load. In our old washer, the load would have had to be split into 2 washes. As I gathered the darks, I was a a tad concerned that the pile would be too large. When the large load sat inside the washer drum, it was only 1/2 full!!

Good Washer, Takes Getting Used to

I definitely like this washer. I have noticed a lot of complaints about noise in other reviews. However, coming from a 13 year old GE, I have to say it is way more quiet than my old washer. I can sleep while it is washing. Now, there are a couple of noises that many are not used to. Primarily the sound it makes when the spin cycle is coming to a gradual stop. You tend to hear a noise that is louder than usual. I think it's the sound of the drum braking. Like brakes on a car. For anyone who has see the original Star Wars Saga, I liken it to the sound you hear when Obi Wan Kenobi disables the tractor beam on the Death Star. I kind of love the sound since that's what it reminds me of. Definitely not something I would complain about.
I will say it is going to take some getting used to. I work out 5 days a week, which means lots of sweaty clothes to wash. My old washer which was a top loader would fill up with water. I would leave the lid open with the clothes in the water and put in detergent and vinegar. Then I would let them soak for about 8 hours before putting the lid back down. That would get the stank out of them. With this unit, since it is front load, I can't do that. I have learned that I need to put in the vinegar into the drum, put the detergent in the drawer, close it, set it for Active Wear, push start, let it fill up, then let it tumble around 6 times to get everything soaked into the clothes. At that point I hit the pause button and let it sit while I'm at work. Finally when I come home I hit the start button and let it go. This seems to get the job done for me.
Overall I like it. The black stainless is really nice but you will need to wipe it down every now and again because it attracts dust. If you have cats and you keep your litter box in the laundry room like I do, you will notice litter dust builds up on it. However, I just use this as an indicator that I need to take care of my stuff. My old washer was white and you couldn't see this buildup until it was thick and nasty, so it took longer to clean. May as well just get used to wiping it down and having respect for your stuff.

I originally was aiming for a Consumer Reports top-rated older washing machine model from Samsung, but the dealer showed me the newer Samsung product. I did more research and discovered that Consumer Reports' latest issue provided an updated review of top-rated Washing Machine/Drier Combinations and the highlight was this new Samsung washing machine. Turns out that the new washing machine was LESS expensive than the model it replaced and had a couple of great new features (like the small door to add items after the cycle has started and a nifty device that catches lint before it can clog your drain) . I've used the washer/drier pair for almost a month and feel confident in giving each of them a strong review. The washing machine has the same large capacity (4.5 cu ft) as the machine it replaced in our home and fits perfectly under the counter (the new standard of 'large' machines (5 cu ft) would not). I like the broader range of cycles and features to choose from, many of which include steam. It operates relatively quietly and automatically sets a new cycle to match what it just finished as well as easily-programmed 'favorites' of cycle options. I am very pleased with its washing performance and that it takes less time than the older HE machine it replaced. The only suggestion I have is for those who are installing the washer under an existing counter-top: be sure to NOT push the washing machine as far back as you can. If you do, you may have difficult accessing the bleach tray (which is all the way in the back of the pull-out drawer).

We researched like crazy to see what machine we would want to upgrade to. I've been a loyal LG washer/dryer appliance customer for a while. I've always like their products. In the past 6 years I've had 2 (yes that's right) 2 motors that went out on LG washers so that was it for them. I found this Samsung Machine and did some careful research. I looked at reviews from MANY websites (amazon, lowes, home depot, sears, etc) and all showed that this was a machine customers recommended. My wife is a massage therapist so we are CONSTANTLY washing large loads of sheets (7-8 at a time). We needed something with a very large Capacity. This machine hit every specification we wanted. The front add laundry door when the cycle has started is kind of interesting. I never thought I would use it but I find myself adding to the cycle a lot.
Overall, I'm VERY impressed. The steam cycles are great. I don't know if it's all in my head but I put some pretty soiled clothes in the washing machine with a steam cycle and I really feel they come out better than I've seen with my washing machines in the past.
Either way, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this model. Best Buy delivered and setup for me so that was an awesome added benefit. Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

I've had this washer about 7 months, and I really love it. My old front loader used to shake my entire house (my laundry room was an previous exterior porch) and I was hesitant to buy another front loader. But this one doesn't shake my house at all. As long as I keep the door ALL THE WAY open, it doesn't smell. However, if the door gets pushed closed and not latched, it will smell bad. But it's par for the course with a front loader. It is expected.
It does a good job cleaning my husband's yucky work clothes. I have used the steam function once and it seems to work. Steam doesn't come out or anything so I assume it was steaming. It did well at cleaning a rug that my dog had an accident on.
And I am able to put in my 9 x 12 Ruggable (washable) rug with no problems. In my old washer, I used to have to wash it twice to get it clean. (I have a rescue dog that has potty issues). This washer only takes once.
I really love it so far.

I had sworn off front loading washers after trying two different brands and spending $1200 to reinforce the floor. Every time my old washer went into a high spin, it sounded like a jet taking off. I had purchased an extended warranty, but all the technicians could do was balance the washer (which was already balanced.) I couldn't finish my laundry room as planned because the washer bounced so much that I couldn't stack the dryer. (I had already purchased the stacking kit.) Best Buy said that if this washer rattled, they'd take it back. Well, the clothes are cleaner, the washer and dryer are stacked, and my laundry room is finished. If I'd known I could get a washer like this, I wouldn't have lived with my old one for so long. I haven't had the opportunity to try out all the options, but I have loaded it with towels and heavy jeans and know it works well and quietly, even in a high spin. I would repurchase this washer.

I was intent on purchasing a HE top loader, but my extensive research using Consumer Reports swayed me over to front loaders and this model. Outstanding handling and efficiency of loads and options. Easy to use. Best clean I have ever had. Quiet. Gentle. Large capacity. What a delight to own and use.

I purchased this washer to replace my old early 2000's Whirlpool top loader. Though thos old machines are virtually indestructible, they are harsh on clothes and use a ton of water, so I was looking for something better. I decided on this unit as it has a ton of features, I like the idea of the add wash door, and its energy savings. The unit is simple to use, is quiet (which wasn't a big deal to me as our laundry room is in the basement), and leaves clothes looking and smelling clean. The only thing I recommend is buying the extended warranty as front load units can be very expensive to fix if they do break.

We bought Samsung - 4.5 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Addwash™ High-Efficiency Front-Loading Washer with Steam - Black Stainless along with matching Samsung - 7.5 Cu. This washer has lot of great features and it is 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity. The AddWash™ door eliminates the need to do an extra load of laundry just because you forgot an item.
