This was a great choice for the living room entertainment. The TV was easy to put the stand on. Allows you to label the ports to the device.

awesome TV awesome sound awesome display. Great for blu-ray and video games. Setting up is simple. Not the menu and setting is is easy to use. Pretty easy to use and connect to the internet. The only problem I've had so far is connecting it to theAnynet+ device using my sony dvd player and surround sound system. Sometimes it will use the sound from the TV and the surround sound system and it will happen echo as if at a baseball, or football game. And that is on a rare occasion. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Overall awesome tv. Price pretty good.

This was my first smart tv, and my largest tv screen (previously I had a 32-inch screen).
Apparently, I'm a slow learner. But about a month ago, I finally decided it was time to upgrade to a "smart" tv. These cost substantially more than just a regular tv because it's got to have the Internet connectivity and sufficient processing power and internal memory to handle the necessary aps and processing power to connect to the Internet and stream video.
On this, it does a fine job. Despite having only a dsl connection, the videos generally play seamlessly (very occasional stalls for buffering and streaming errors, which I suspect has more to do with my lousy dsl than it does with the tv). Once I downloaded the ap and registered my product with (a major Internet vendor that started out selling books but now also streams videos with its Prime membership), I've had full access to their whole collection of material included with Prime members (and, if I wanted to buy other material, of course I could do that, too). Downloading and registration was easy.
It's been great being able to catch up on shows that were produced for overseas or cable-only networks that never made it to broadcast tv. I can binge-watch to my heart's content. And everything coming over the dsl looks as sharp as if it were coming over the airwaves. Kinda makes me wonder why I waited so long to get one of these.

I needed a new TV to replace my Insignia 32' that died from an electrical surge. I was able to get this TV as part of this yrs. black Friday deal online and i was very impressed. I've work tech support for a company that deals with a lot of connection issues to TVs this time of year, and trust me Samsung has made this dummy proof! the longest process was dealing with updating apps/software, once connected to WiFi, which was approx 5 mins. This is my first smart TV and I love it, the built in apps save time without the need to change inputs to use other devices. The remote feels very comfortable, so much I really wish I could use it for my cable provider too. The built in speakers are pretty solid too, right now I don't have an external sound system hooked up, but so far I have little need to increase the volume past 20. The picture quality is amazing, crystal clear and to only be 60hz is mind blowing. My only grip is a personal issue with the Picture in Picture (PIP) feature. the only way to take advantage of this is to hook up a coax line for the smaller picture, and so far I haven't found a way to toggle between the pictures or the audios. Also depending on your set up, the input plugs stick out which may make for tighter clearance if attempting to wall mount. Overall for my needs this is a great TV, and I plan on buying a larger version for my living room in the future.

I got this TV on sale, and it was the perfect size and perfect price for my budget and entertainment center. It has WiFi capability, with built-in apps including Netflix and more!
The only downside of the TV is that the "SmartHub" app consistently updates, which can't be turned off. It's not a major inconvenience, just a small annoyance.

The TV setup was quick and easy. Great picture quality. Easy to use the SmartTV to view Netflix. Nice not to have to hook a computer up to view Netflix and other streaming online programs.

This is a great TV - the picture is beautiful and the features terrific. Handles broadcast/cable as well as streaming (Netflix, Amazon, YouTube etc), via the smart TV. Additionally, this unit wirelessly streams video, plays music and displays photos right from my WD MyCloud network drive (NAS) just by selecting with "input" button - no special set up. There is also an app available to link to a Plex server. The physical chassis is not slim but works perfectly in my location via wall mount.

This is a Series 5 TV and offers a great picture. I have Samsung Series 5 and Series 7 TVs and that's the signature feature. The sound is OK and is sufficiently loud to overcome room background noise.
Internet connectivity is very easy to set up and Samsung offers a number of default applications like Netflix, Youtube, Time Warner Cable, and Verizon FIOS. So, for example, it was easy for me to pull FIOS cable content directly off my WiFi without needing another cable box. That particular app does not offer the music channels or local TV but there are other ways to get that content.
I mounted it on a wall and that process was very easy. It only weighs 20 lbs and many aftermarket wall mounts are available. It would be an upgrade if the TV were a little thinner like some of the Series 7 but this TV is consistent with the market and it looks great mounted on the wall.
I got a great price at Best Buy and I would recommend this TV to a friend.

This is my first internet-capable TV, and is a HUGE improvement over the smaller non-flat TV I had before! (What wouldn't be?)
I love the picture quality, and this is the least expensive one with the resolution and picture refresh rate and all those other important things. This is an HDTV, but I haven't gotten to the cable company to get their HD converter box, so I'm sure the picture will blow my mind once I get fully HD. Even still, it looks great. Not a lot of glare, looks nice.
One salesman did mention that the sound on a flatscreen would be okay, but could benefit from a sound bar. The sound is fine, I may have to turn it up a bit higher than I'd need to with a sound bar, but I don't feel like I'm blasting it, and don't have any distortion so it must be an okay level. Maybe 45 is normal?
As for the Smart Hub/Internet stuff, I wish I could remove some of their stuff. There are some apps, like "Kids", "HBO Go", and "ShopTV" that I won't use, but can't figure out how to remove from the main screen. Maybe they can be removed and I just haven't figured it out. I do like that I can add apps I use like Hulu, Netflix, etc. I would like to be able to re-order them to put the most used ones first. As it is now, Netflix (which was pre-installed) is on one part of the screen, and Hulu (which I had to download) is on another. Wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me in the purchase, but something I'd love Samsung to change.

Great TV. I bought and open box version so I got it slightly cheaper. It's has good features for an entry level smart TV from a prestigious brand. It moves kinda slow a times when navigating through apps and menus but I wouldn't expect it to be lightning fast for the price. Samsung same size models that are 3x the price.

Very nice TV. We were looking for a smaller one, maybe a 32" or a 37", but bought this instead. 37's are hard to come by, and we decided the 32" was too small. This set is nice and bright. My son has it hooked up to a XBOX360 and an off-air antenna. He loves it. The smart part was not on our "must-have" list but he enjoys that as well. There is a difference between the levels of Samsung TV's. A friend of mine has an 8000 series and this 5000 series is not near that clear, but this TV was also a fraction of the price. This was a little more than other 40" TV's but I think worth the price. I believe the 1080p is required when you start getting the bigger sizes. 720p might be ok for smaller screens but you can tell a difference on the larger ones.

The size of this TV is perfect for a mid-sized room. Getting it set up was quite easy and the prompts move the user through each phase quickly and easily.
The built-in WiFi made connecting to the home network and Internet a breeze.
The quality of the picture is crisp and clear making television programs, movies (DVD/Blu-Ray), and Internet streaming a delight to watch.
The only drawback is that the speakers point toward the wall making it necessary to either keep the volume higher than what one might want or require connecting to an external sound system (recommended).
Overall, a delightful piece of electronics.

I recently upgraded to this Samsung Smart TV. It's been a few months and I am quite happy with the product. I was looking for a mid-sized TV and was pleasantly surprised to discover the 40 inch model offered Smart TV with Internet browsing. I considered simply buying a TV without the bells and whistles and also purchasing an Apple TV/Roku/Chromecast device. This model had everything I was seeking and decided to keep it simple. The Internet browsing leaves much to be desired, but, even if it was better, I think I'd still use my other devices for surfing the web. The other Smart TV functions are solid - however, honestly, I only use Netfilx. The only hiccup I found in my purchase process was TV stopped working after a couple days - I simply brought it back to Best Buy and they gave me another one. It was a bit of an inconvenience, but Best Buy was quite helpful and made it easy. After the TV stopped working, I had read some reviews about similar issues with Samsung TVs, but, overall, they seem to be regarded by many as having the best TVs. I have no complaints - picture and sound are great. I'd certainly recommend this product.

User interface is generally good and easy to use. Picture quality is very good, sound is too. Very glad I purchased it.
That said, really wish that it would recognize my Verizon FIOS channels. Have tried the instructions several times, gone on line to see what other users have suggested (seems no one is getting it to work!).
Also hate having to use two remotes. And finally, wish there was a compatible keyboard (wireless or otherwise) to make web surfing easier.

I have two of these and I am very satisfied. Picture is great with HD signal, and very good with an analogue signal. There is some screen glare evident from windows and room lighting but its is not bothersome while viewing. The 3.5mm audio out jack on the back is fixed output and not adjustable with the TV volume controls, so my plan to connect some extra 2.1 computer speakers to improve sound was a bust. I did discover that sound quality, especially bass response, is very dependent on room placement. I have one TV in the corner of a room, and the sound is entirely satisfactory with decent bass response. The other TV is on a stand with no wall close behind it, and bass is non-existent even when audio settings are tweaked. Samsung apps (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) and the built in web browser work well enough but are slow to start-up, taking 30-45 seconds. My Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse work with the TV browser, which is good. Using the remote for character entry is too tedious to bother with. I'm connected to my home network via the built-in wireless, which seems stable. Overall a great TV available for around $400 if you wait for sales.

I am really enjoying the features of a Smart TV. I really like that it was easy to setup to my DirecTV, DVD player, and WiFi in my home. Great content on the TV apps. I do think it is a bit cumbersome using the on-screen keyboard. Not sure how that could be improved but definitely worth looking into from a manufacture's standpoint. I would recommend this model to others and of course it was a great price.
