Wow what a difference- fast, bright, responsive, easy set up. Mounted on wall - beautiful picture - clear. The only issue is cable length. 6' cables don't work for must on wall installations.

I researched and tested many TVs 32" - 49" from Sony, Samsung and this is the top dog for 49". No TV is perfect but this has the least amount of flaws.

This TV has a beautiful, detailed picture in a wonderfully efficient enclosure. The very small ''surround" outside of the active picture area enabled us to fit this larger unit into a built-in area with about 1/2 inch clearance on each side. The TV has many built in features for streaming, and connection to other external sources is easily facilitated by the included connection module which eliminates having to access the back of the TV set every time you wish to add or remove a connection. We love this set, and it blows away the 42 inch VISIO set which it replaces.

This TV was my last hope for in search of the best 4K HDR TV Possible for the price and then I met the Samsung KS8000. This TV is by far the best $900 I've ever spent. I went through a couple TV's before this one but I'm glad I had bought the Samsung. I wish I would've got it sooner but I had just caught the last day of the sale. If I get another TV it'll more than likely be a SUHD Model or whatever premium experience model that Samsung has.

This TV came with One Connect Box, makes hookups and device changes a breeze, it even has a powered USB port to charge my headphones. Other reviews stated bad picture in dark room, not this one. Crystal clear picture! overall very happy with purchase.

I just upgraded from a 5-year old Samsung plasma to the brand new 49" Samsung LCD model UN49KS8000FXZA.
I love this thing. I'm *stunned* by how nice the picture is, the lovely design of the case, the thoughtful design of the connectivity, the quite decent built-in speakers, and the surprisingly functional software that runs it all.
Ever since I moved into a new house with a very bright living room (floor-to-ceiling windows), I knew that I needed to upgrade my TV. The question was when. I knew that I wasn't going to pay the $2000 that some of the high-end models cost a couple of years ago. So I waited until I thought the quality was good enough in a price range that I could afford.
I did my research and learned that I needed a combination of high screen brightness and low screen reflectivity. Various online reviews pointed me toward the Samsung and the Vizio P50-C1. Unfortunately, Vizio has decided to stop including tuners with their high-end TVs, and guess what? I'm a cord-cutter. I get my content mostly over-the-air, and sometimes streaming through the Internet. thought about buying an external tuner with the Vizio, but that was definitely a strike against it. Complexity is something I wanted to avoid.
I went into my local Best Buy to view the units first hand. I liked the bezel-less design of the Samsung better than the Vizio, and I also thought that the screen of the Samsung was less reflective than the Vizio. So I chose the Samsung.
The picture is everything I could possibly ask for. I can enjoy it during the day, even with the direct sun streaming right onto the screen. And of course it is awesome during the evening when the ambient light is way down. Black levels are everything I could possibly ask for.
As I mentioned before, I really like the bezel-less frame of the Samsung. This thing is built with the same aesthetic and craftsmanship as an iPhone. It is handsome.
OK, so the picture is good, the sound is good, and it is a handsome unit. Besides that, there are four points of special note:
1) The user manual that Samsung supplies is extremely poor. It is essentially worthless. It is shockingly sparse. I'm sure that only a minority of people ever read the manuals, but I am one of them, and Samsung has set a new level of cost-cutting with their decision not to include a full user manual. I would love to figure out how to display photos from a USB thumb drive, but the manual doesn't say exactly how, it just teases you. I tried fiddling with the TV for an hour, couldn't figure it out. Oh well, that's what my AppleTV is for.
2) The remote control that Samsung provides is ... interesting. So far, I like it. It is very simplistic, in an Apple-esque style. It is supposed to be able to function as a universal remote. So far, it seems to live up to that pretty well, but I still have all of my sources (AppleTV, DVD player, Roku, etc.) hooked up to my home theater system, and in that configuration the home theater system needs to do all the source switching and volume control. Next weekend, I'm going to try to connect the audio out from the Samsung TV to my home theater receiver (another function not adequately explained by the user manual), and if that works I'm going to try to plug all my sources into the Samsung One Connect box (see below), which will then permit the Samsung remote control to function as a universal remote.
3) Samsung has designed a little connector box that they call the "One Connect" box, which is nice. It allows you to plug all your sources into that box, which can then be hidden inside a cabinet, and then you send a single cable from the One Connect box up to the TV itself. That nicely eliminates cable clutter for people that are not using a home theater system. One HDMI cable running up to the TV is better than 2 or 3 or 4 cables.
4) The software that powers the TV is quite functional. One nice surprise is the fact that the Samsung TV produces a program guide for all the content that is coming over the air, just like a cable box does. That might be a common feature, I don't know, but it was a pleasant surprise for me. Samsung also includes the ability to stream content from Amazon and Netflix, which I guess is quite common these days. It even includes an Internet browser. You could pair the TV with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and you could browse the web quite nicely.

10 bit Panel

I'm a graphic designer also into filmmaking and do video editing and color grading. The quality of the panel is very good: it has the capability of displaying true 10 bit color (over 1 billion colors). You will need a proper high-end HDMI cable and upgrade to true 4K, HDR content (once that comes out either by enhanced BluRay players and / or streaming networks).
For me, I'm going to be using this TV as a monitor off my computer for color grading with a break-out box that supports a 10bit signal so I can truly see all that smooth gradation (which is important when color grading).
The TV remote is free from cluttered buttons and easy to use. I also found the TV has a quick, easy to learn menu system which is good when disabling things you don't need.
Here's a pro tip: color calibrate your TV and make sure it is not set on standard or "store display mode."
For any TV, if you want to watch movies and experience them the way they are meant to be, you need to disable any smooth motion setting, disable tru black, disable noise reduction and any 'enhancement' feature.
You want to set your profile to 'cinema', pause a frame with high contrast (something which shows shadows and a highlight, like a window) and then take your brightness down until you see detail in the highlight and drop shadows until you just barely start to loose detail in the darks (make sure you don't lose detail).
Your backlight should be low (mine is 20%). Saturation should be less than 50%. Sharpness should be around 30% -40%.
What this will give you is a true, unsaturated, natural image with proper motion (set your BluRay to 24p!!).
All movies are mastered 24p so you don't want smooth motion on or else it will begin to look slightly fast-forwarded.
These tips are for any TV, most people are blowing their image out in the highlights and crushing their blacks which is a shame to the hardwork filmmakers and colorists go through. So spend a little time in the menu and experiment! This Samsung was easy for me to calibrate to display movies naturally and properly. The image is great and the price was very good.

Good But Not Plasma Quality

I bought the Samsung - 49 Class - (48.5 Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV (8000 series) as a replacement for a Pioneer Elite Plasma TV. I had been an early adopter of HD and paid top dollar for the Pioneer Elite about 10-11 years ago. Back then plasma had the reputation for the blackest blacks, best contrast and truest colors (which today some say only OLED can approach). Unfortunately a couple years ago plasma televisions were discontinued so the only real choice is LED or OLED.
I would have happily paid the premium for an OLED but the fact that my television is kept in an armoire limited me in size to a max of 50" models. The smallest OLED made today or the foreseeable future is 55".
With my choices narrowed to LED, I shopped for over a year before deciding on the Samsung 8000 series SUHD-TV. It is a feature rich television with amazing resolution and features but it has serious limitations.
PROS:
Great resolution.
Fast refresh.
Beautiful design.
Near invisible bezel on three sides. (last year's ugly silver bezel kept me from buying).
Good overall contrast.
Lots of picture control.
Great access to the web on streaming content.
Very good picture quality from the right vantage point.
Great user interface.
CONS:
The plasma picture quality from 10+ years ago still beats this.
Touchy contrast. Often looks exaggerated regardless of settings.
The picture can sometimes appear too vivid. That is fine for in-store demos but for everyday watching it can seem harsh.
Here is the big one. Narrow sweet spot for viewing. You have perhaps 10-15 degrees of viewing angle before the contrast rapidly falls off. It begins to look foggy with a slight purplish cast. I can no longer watch television from my favorite spot on the sofa unless I am willing to sacrifice picture quality.
SUMMARY
It is a good television but they still have a long way to go with LCD. This television just does not have the smooth rich picture quality that my plasma had. As a side note, shame on LG for ignoring the 50" market. They claim there is not enough profit margin there based on the cost to make smaller OLED screens...yet they fill the market with 6" smartphones with OLED. (Samsung also punishes the smaller market. They do not offer the 9000 series in the 50" model.)

I compared new 4K televisions for weeks before settling on the Samsung 49 class, SUHD with HDR. The color is fabulous! Watching 4K movies on this TV opens up a whole new world. It was so easy to set up, and I love the smart remote. The only drawback I see is average sound, but I fixed that by buying a Samsung sound bar with wireless woofer. I recommend this product highly!

This Tv is absolutely stunning! Samsung has done it again!
1.) Great color range: The bright colors pop off the screen and the blacks are extremely dark. Watching 4k HDR content makes it even better!
2.) Smart Features: I also love the smart side of the tv. The UI is great and easy to use. Many of my favorite streaming apps are available. This TV isn't just a smart tv that allows you to stream. It does so much more! One feature, in particular, stood out to me... I didn't know the TV was capable of this but every time I switch my input to my Xbox I wanted to make sure the TV was in game mode so that there would be minimal input lag. Just the other day I was watching a tv show on Movie mode and when I changed inputs to my Xbox the TV automatically switched my picture mode to game!! It does that for me everytime now and is a small thing but extremely awesome!!
The only criticism I have is that the Universal remote feature apparently isn't compatible with my receiver, but that really isn't a big deal.

Pretty much a perfect tv. The picture is great and the flow of changing from sources and the apps is smooth and effortless. I never had a tv that turned on and off so quick. As soon as you press the on button the picture shows up. Having the remote take care of every function from changing channels to smart tv and chromecast or fire tv is nice as well. The remote is good ,but could be a little better with the changing of channels. I got this Tv for 625 dollars after waiting till i found it open box. It was brand new in box floor model. Works perfect and got it for half tbe price. I never had Oled TV ,but can not imagine a tv being too much better than this one. On a side note, you do need to play with settings for the best picture . Out of the box picture is just average.

This TV replaced an 8 year old 37'' 720p and I couldn't be happier with it. The image is clear and bright, it was easy for me to setup, and the sound is good for built-in speakers.
Out of the box the image was pretty good but a few adjustments really improved it I think. I did the image calibration from the video settings panel on my Xbox One and it really helped fine tune the picture; to that end I really liked that the menu gives you control over a lot of setting that my other TVs didn't have. Additionaly I was very impressed with the motion smoothing on this model and actually had to turn it down to about a quarter of its max setting because it gave a pretty extreme Soap Opera Effect and animated shows like Archer were just too trippy but it gives you ten levels to select from so you can set it to what looks best to you.
The built-in audio isn't as good as a full sound system or a nice sound bar, of course, but it still sounds good and I have no problem with it.
As far as all the "Smart" features I couldn't tell you. I like the built in apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube but don't really use anything else yet.
I think this is a great TV and can't wait to get all my favorite movies in HD now that I can really see the difference over regular DVD.

I cannot believe how much everything looks on my new TV. I'm glad I waited for the 4K TV with High Dynamic Range. Netflix, cable HD channels, even regular channels (without HD) all look so amazing! Blu-Ray discs also have a lot more detail. (I also bought a new Samsung Blu-Ray player with 4K upscaling.) Now I can see the hairs on a head, or even on a man's unshaven face. The color contrast with HDR is more important than I ever knew. Just amazing.
